Hi, I'm John, and I've been passionate about #history since I could remember. I majored in history and historical research and trained for a year under an actual historian. Ultimately, I am a History Buff like many of us. Let's #react and discuss things we know and so much we don't know about history!

Hi John, Opel is actually German, not French. They did get a complaint from the Mexican Ambassador, he obviously stayed awake just long enough to watch it!😉 If you want to see Clarksons serious side, he's made some excellent documentaries for TimeLine. Only stipulation, you must do this one first, cause there're spoilers in the others! First one is "For Valour, what does it take to win the British Medal of Honor", The second one is "The Greatest Raid".
Technically it's a Dutch HQ'ed, French-Italian-US entity, Peugeot Group buying Opel years back, who later merged with Fiat-Chrysler, and elected an entity where drugs and taxes are optional, to operate from.
@@AndrewRoberts11 It's a conglomerate of firms from different countries, who still retain their national identities in a lot of peoples eyes. Most people would still consider Chrysler a US brand.
Honour**
There's no spoilers in them at all I've seen both about 10 times in the second one he just says after finding about the first one he was on the lookout for another great story
My favorite Joke on top gear is Jeremy talking about how he was a few days late to a service on his Mercedes and they came and collected it from his house and serviced it and took it back, so his next service he said he "Hid it in an undisclosed Parking garage in downtown London, to see what a German car does when forced to disobey a direct order" 😂😂😂
`Opel is one of Europe's largest automakers. It was founded by Adam Opel in 1862 in Rüsselsheim, Germany. `
And is now owned by GM
@@mrsiborg GM lost Opel years ago.
@@23GreyFox You're right, just checking who owns them now says it's Stellantis.
Riesling is a German grape and German Riesling is amazing.
And especially when the Aussies make it... 😉😄🇦🇺
No.1 in the world for white wine
@@edhoward-bearder3081 🤣
@@edhoward-bearder3081 how does the Aussies make German Riesling ? 🤔
@@kristofferholst6053 probably better than the Germans
I used to have a Renault Laguna (French) I loved that car, I still miss it and it died and went to heaven in 2008😢
Germany is famous for its beer. That tells you everything you need to know about the wine.
How to have German wine, leave it to mature for a few years, get to the correct temperature before serving into a tall glass, then pour it down the sink and crack open a beer
"Le Car" was known elsewhere in the world including the UK as the Renault 5
Please react to more Top Gear/Grand Tour it is so refreshing seeing someone from that side of the pond laugh and not take it too seriously
German wine is pretty decent, usually fruity and not as dry as most other European wines, plus there's more than one wine growing area not just the Rhine valley. However the two wines they mentioned are the very very basic types. Most Britsh, or even other Europeans haven't a clue about German wine and its different quality levels.
At 8:00 he's talking about how that flap won't open when he's broken down. Crappy design. Lol
German white wines are somewhat similar to New Zealand wines. At least the white ones like Riesling and Gewürztraminer. I'm not German, but the wines are quite enjoyable on a hot summer day.
German wine, especially Riesling, was the number one white wine in the world, and is now again. Many Brits buy sweet white wine from Germany that nobody else drinks, they are the only customers for this niche product. DE is No.8 in terms of production volume, more than Portugal. Top Rieslings from the Rheingau can cost €1,500 a bottle. Before the First World War, they were more expensive than Bordeaux wines.
Lived in Germany for 4 years, their wines are fantastic.
Opel AG, German automotive company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stellantis NV, specializing in the manufacture of passenger cars and light vans. Its headquarters are in Rüsselsheim, Germany.
9:11 I was on break last year and my Asian coworker came in at that exact moment, he just pissed himself laughing.
I believe German wine like Blue Nun was wholly exported , in the seventies and eighties.
The French for us Brit’s are the equivalent of a home owners association 😂
YOU NEED TO SEE THE ALABAMA SPECIAL 💯🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Banter? With France? Oh no, no no no... Always half an eye turned to the channel
British car licence plates have to be a regulation size, font, colour and letter spacing; and cant spell an expletive.
You can fidget with them a bit, but its technically illegal and a very pedantic (or annoyed) police officer can book you for it. Vanity plates are technically classed for "show use only" ie not on public roads
My German teacher some years ago who was actually German explained all the good German wine is kept in Germany for home consumption and only the nasty cheap stuff like Liebfraumilch and the like is exported abroad. Mmmm it seems like a very German explanation to get out of the fact that German wine is not on anyone’s top ten best ever wines.
Did you know that the french car Citroen direct english translation is Lemon, which is what most Citroens are, lol.
Actually,it’s called citron.But it’s a common mistake,cause they sound the same.
I had black nun whem i was 16. nicked it from my parents collection, was 37 years ago so dont remember what it was like, i do remember being quite drunk lol
Quick note...typo in title? You left the "son" off of the "Clark"?
Also, if you have not seen it, you should watch Clarkson's Farm...assuming you like Jeremy, that is. LOL
The Lamborghini joke is that the Italians build shit cars and the gas door in the lambo wasn’t opening so Clarkson blamed the Italians sayin it was the only thing they built and it doesn’t work.
German wine, that mentioned by Clarkson is rubbish but, Lowenbrau (lionsbrew) and Asbach Uralt (a five star brandy) are exceptional beer and liquor, that are so good they won't export them. I've tried both having spent some years their, and I can tell you they are second to none!
Italian national flag. A White Cross on a White Background
More please👍👍
Never apologise for being a decent person.
Italians have a really bad problem with lyingn about product specification..
We bougut a bunch of trains from italy that had exceleny specs. They where horribly bad.
German white wine is actually pretty good
I love German wine and hate French wine, I don't care, shoot me lol. My daughter had a French car, it was shockingly bad! Subbed :)
German wine is ok - try a Riesling - it's not as bad as they make out
Chinese copies are from the same factories as the genuine ones.
Many a teenager has been pissed out of their heads on German white wine, glotiously so if I remember correctly !
glotiously? great word...we just need a definition and the OED judges
If you drink wine just like beer! 🥴
Renault 5 gt turbo were a 💩 hot little motor and the Peugeot 205 309 gtis were decent too 👍🏻
The Germans make very nice white wine. Yes they do.
Blue Nun
@@stirlingmoss4621 Only for the Brits 🤡🤣
In a way I kinda feel bad for them considering that they’ve basically been all over the world, places like Ukraine,, Iraq and Israel especially considering the current state they’re w😢
German wine is slightly better than British wine and British wine is so bad they should provide it free of charge to anyone daring enough to wash their car with it.
you should react to roman empire in 20 minutes
There a many great German wines. We just send the shitty wines over to Britain... ;)
Oi Fritz!
We get decent ones too, I do try and educate friends and colleagues on German wine but it must be said that most British are clueless about German wine and wouldn't know the difference between a Landwein and an Eiswein?
Believe it or not, some of the most common Eisweins or Beerenauslese wines available here in th UK are Tasmanian and Canadian, produced by German immigrants of course.
@@johnp8131 when I lived in Germany (Stuttgart,Mercedes town) I only drank the wonderful kristallweizen (ohne citrone) never got exposed to their wine really.
@@TheCornishCockney Altbier, especially the Düsseldorf brewpub versions were and still are my thing.
Lived for around ten years, in and near Mönchengladbach, I married (Still am) to a German Girl and we used to spend many holidays on the Mosel, bringing back a van load of wine from a village near Traben-Trarbach for the Father-in law in Moers. The wife and I did a trip in 1982, before we were married, down to the western Schwarzwald, Liked a lot of the various wines from the Baden-Württemberg area, although they were usually more akin to French wines perhaps. Quite partial to a Frankenwein too but usually I'm there around Bamberg on a beer tour with my German mates.
BTW. Looking at your name, we have something else in common. I was born in Islington but my family origin is in Padstow.
@@TheCornishCockney As a Badener: Württemberger wine is horrible 😭
