I am an old guy getting an OLED for Christmas. I can't wait! This is my now "go to" channel to support my knowledge. I will be able to take my Steam / Epic / Xbox / GOG game catalog to bed. (remember, I did say I'm an old guy).
Keep in mind the non Steam libraries take some trickery to get working! If you rely on those libraries for a fair amount of your games, I'd look into the Ally potentially too
I'm an old guy too... I'm going to pick up the oled after the holidays as well. I have an eye condition where it is still sometimes hard to read the text in verified games on my LCD deck. I'm thinking the oled will help with this. 🤞
I have the OG 64GB Steam Deck. Instead of upgrading to the new OLED model, I bought a Elgato HD60 X capture card. I can now use my Dolby Vision compatible tablet as a HDR external OLED monitor. I couldn't be happier
Thanks@@ProfessorTek but can you be more specific about the title of the music? That library is massive... :/ I'm trying to find music for my Deck intro movie. I made Handheld History and the Matrix if you've used them before... Thanks!
The new buttons and slightly less weight are a game changer. Feels like a completely different system. My system is also silent now. My fan would be so loud for certain games on the old model.
I have a 1tb oled and Once my 1tb micro SD card arrives, I read I can install windows on it to play call of duty, access fortnite etc. but I'm completely new to PC things, I'm used to Xbox and PlayStation, how hard would it be? Or how much work would it take and would I have to load up windows for some games and the regular steam thing for others?
I absolutely love my steam deck oled, I got the 1tb etched glass version & wow!!! Also it’s my first handheld ever, I love everything bout it. Btw great video you described everything perfectly.
Wanted to ask. I have aya neo next. It's great. But was thinking of getting steam deck oled or Rog ally. Not sure how much better Rog ally is compared to aya neo next. Also with steam deck worries that it may not be so easy to play games-particularly Ubisoft / epic games - installing proton and god knows what else in terms of mods puts me off - or is it easier than it seems. I like idea of steam having instant access to games but but how easy is it setting up games.
Playing a lot of retro titles I noticed a big improvement in the dpad. Also the track pads are a lot more accurate with a better overall feel. I am loving the Oled and am glad I updated. I used my LDC deck on a daily basis so updated made sense for me.
Not sure if it's due to the 3.5 (or higher) update, but the touchpads in desktop mode on the OLED are significantly better, the LCD deck's were practically unusable in desktop mode.
Okay I gotta know, do the face buttons on your oled model rattle and feel looser compared to your lcd model. My OCD needs to be soothed by knowing I’m not the only one
Unfortunately I haven't had that experience but I have read online some have it. I've read some people applied skins to their deck and the slight extra amount of material rubbing against them can help with jiggle
Ur absolutely right the sleep and wake on the deck can’t be understated, windows handhelds can’t come close here. The deck is almost as good as the switch here.
Windows also has those annoying updates that usually take an hour or 2. When I want to game, I want to game and not update my system and waste valuable time updating.
I been comparing the oled to the legion go, granted the legion go I have the saturation pumped up in adrenaline, it holds its own next to the oled. I always prefer oled and it has hdr, but the legion go has a real nice display
Steam Deck Oled is the first one I’ve owned. It’s definitely better than the Nintendo Switch. Now my complaint is that it can’t play some older games. You would think it should be able to run older games without any issues. They need to make those older games work. Example it can’t play Max Payne, but it can play Max Payne 2 with no problems. WTF.
There's some weird support issues with Max Payne 1 on A LOT of computers, so it's not just a Steam Deck issue (I've been wanting to replay and can't even get it to work on my workstation build at home)
I had the 1TB matte display. I absolutely hate it. Compared to my legion go. I just ordered the 512GB glossy display. If that’s the one you showed off, I am very very excited
I did! I also had the glossy Steam Deck OLED (upgraded to 2tb internal and 1tb sd card, my favorite setup currently) the Ally is a great device too, it's a good time to be a portable gamer
I’ve owned a lot of handhelds and gaming systems, as well as a lot of OLED displays. The Steam Deck OLED is my favorite gaming device of all time and the display is one of the best OLEDs I’ve ever seen. It gets BRIGHT and, unlike even the best smartphones with HDR displays, is able to sustain that brightness thanks to it having active cooling. An iPhone can technically get brighter outdoors for a couple of minutes but has to quickly ramp down brightness because of the lack of cooling. My LG OLED monitor cannot get as bright, especially full field. And from a color and overall image quality perspective, it’s extremely good. Like iPhone 15 Pro or LG OLED TV good. For a $550 device, you will not find a better display on any other device at this price point.

@ProfessorTek I could never recommend the Ally to anyone, if anything the Legion GO would be better...

I've watched a lot of videos on this bad boy and I really appreciated your style and take here! 🎉
I appreciate you fam 🙏

Great video. What's the name of the track you're using at the 3:00 mark? It slaps!
It's from a sound library called Epidemic Sound 😄

Hadnt anything to say, still leaving this comment to boost this channel.

How about the 90hz refresh rate of the display?

Just got my OLED and I can’t take my hands off it. Wish I didn’t have work to play but then again, without work, no money for the OLED 😂
Truuuuuuuee

Why is the BGM so loud at the end
Nobody seems to talk about the chipset

so the OLED is 720 insted of 800 ?
I misspoke, it's 800p

Can you not just put a screen protector on and it'll negate the etch screen?
@@GT.Buggeryea but won’t be as clear as a glossy screen but it will improve the look
@@GT.Bugger I can't tell a difference.
@@GT.BuggerHe's exaggerating, you can barely tell a difference imo
I need VRR

⭐️ I have a steam deck and an Asus. I can honestly say the Asus handles Ark Survival Ascended better than the steam deck. 🤙
Good video but playing music behind you talking is annoying
Background music is unnecessary and distracting
