Glazing is crazy
@@Godsend12936you know it's a good millisecond when the word "glazing" has been said 100 times.
Even out of context. Lmao
Love ya ❤ Sorry I'm so slack at making videos 😅
@@temtech9730 dude is literally glazing, what else is there to say. He might as well be on his knees wiping his face at this point
Totally agree with your perspective on handheld systems playing the latest AAA games. It’s so cool they can, and sometimes there is that latest game that I actually want to play on the go like DOOM Eternal or Resident Evil 4, but so many reviewers approach the Steam Deck as if it’s a PS5 without really considering the compromises it makes to be so amazingly portable and efficient on battery. It would be like a music shop giving a trumpet a bad review because it can’t play Bach’s piano works.
Yeah thats exactly it! I don't think it's a replacement for high-powered pc's/next gen consoles. It's more of a sick companion to those things to make playing games more easy and accessible day to day. And with such a wealth of incredible smaller, indie games, it just feels right to play them on a handheld like the steam deck as opposed to sat up at a big desk you know?
Thanks for the comment my man 🙏
I've been thinking about that too and I find it kind of nuts. So many reviews and people talking about the steam deck like it's a full plug-in console. Not even my switch's battery can stay on for lengthy periods of time sometimes, and this handheld does that and more with 60fps and much better graphical capabilities! That's just really never been seen before in the handheld market and I find it pretty bewildering how much of a disservice the public info shuttling around is. Maybe it's just because steam is a PC retailer.
I just got 1TB Steam OLED Non LE edition. Ordered November 20th, got it December 1st, Croatia. Great piece of machinery.
For retro-gamers , this is a must-have , oled screen shows the colours and the deep black how are supposed to be , this is more important than the performances.
Don't forget the flicker of the OLED also is very similar to the flicker of a CRT and helps with motion clarity in older titles as well!
@VectorGaming4080 probably you refer to the response time, which is similar to the CRT's one .
@@MzuMzu-nx1em That is also true, but the OLED panel valve put in here flickers pretty intensely as well which is so nice.
Can someone please tell me what was that game he was playing? The one that looked like Hades! Thank you in advance.
@@bacteria266The game I believe you are referring to is Deaths door.
Sold my LCD model and could make the upgrade fairly cheap.
I definitely enjoy it.
I'm surprised at how much better the LB and RB buttons feel, also the trackpads, quick settings and Steam buttons.
The touchscreen is miles more accurate as well.
The smaller bezels, bigger and more beautiful screen is just amazing.
The fans and temperature are noticeable improved.
Love that you made your non-knowing girlfriend take a crack at the differences. Made it more "real" and convincing that us gamers don't just sell the upgrade to ourselves without reason.
Glad to have the Mike Vibe back.
Totally! Im currently trying to track someone down to sell my LCD model hahah. You know! the trackpads in particular feel way better to me, should have made a bigger point of that in the video.
Awh thanks man, so glad you enjoyed that bit 😄 Thanks so much for the kind comment mate!
@@mike.barnes Yeah, I was surprised at how difficult selling my LCD model was. Guess it's not too much in demand here in Denmark.
Love all of your content. You're just down to earth and easy going. Keep it up :)
@@Woupsmeprobably because everyone wants the oled 😅
Best purchase I've made in a while, upgrading my original model was so worth it. Despite being used to oled both in my phone and a TV, deck's screen amazes me every time I look at it
So beautiful init? Playing on it makes me sad that I dont have an OLED tv 🥲
Just found your channel after finally ordering a steam deck. Your videos are AWESOME. Such a great vibe and quality production. Subbed. Can’t wait to see some more content. All the best mate.
Finally pulled the trigger and bought the oled deck. You just made it sound soo awesome for me. Thankss!
I just picked up an OLED model because when I was a kid I adored my PSP and Gameboy. I picked it up with the sole purpose of playing indies, 2d games, isometric titles etc and I'm so happy with it. I never had the original Steam Deck to compare it to, but the OLED model is absolutely wonderful and just being able to play video games the way I used to when I was young has been incredible.
Fantastic style, editing and perspective! That 'normal person test' section was quite lovely!
Nice, I also got myself the OLED Deck, it's so nice. I managed to get a pretty decent price for my old unit so it didn't cost me too much. I love even the little things like how much nicer the buttons feel. But that battery life improvement is such a game changer.
I love your video editing man. It’s very calming and informative at the same time.
Thanks so much man! Really appreciate that 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
i love the green screen presentation and the humor. hope u don't lose these in your vids cuz it makes your content unique
I LOVE the points made at 12:40 and beyond! Having reviewed both the windows devices, I still feel like all the numbers are irrelevant when you actually just want to focus on fun and clearing your backlog in times or places you normally wouldn’t be able to. Great vid, all the best!
Yup. I'm going to sell my ROG Ally because even though the screen is terrific, the fact that its on Windows really makes the experience more of a headache than it should be. My only problem with the OG Deck was the screen and the thumbsticks and the OLED model fixed both, and fixed battery life to boot!
SteamOS is so much better for gaming, its really more like using a console than a PC. Massive plus
Thanks man! Thats exactly it. Usually with PC's, performance is king. But with a handheld theres sooo many more factors to consider. Glad you agree 😊
Thank you for the kind comment man, going to check out your channel now!
I agree i have looked a lot at all the aya, gpd, asus and Lenovo handhelds and yes they are more powerful than the steam deck oled but you would not know that with all the hardware and software bugs the steam deck community is also amazing and the deck is cheaper
You nailed the closing points, my friend bought my old steam deck as a backlog machine and is super happy
Thank you my man! Yeah thats it! All about getting through that backlog 🔥
Always love videos from Mike keeping it coming
Really well done video! Great editing, informative, and funny.
how do you always hit that comfy vibes, banger video
You made a lot of good practical points. Thanks mate.
Good to see another upload Mike! Thanks
I just cant get over the amount of editing and hard work just to put one video out, and it was a nice touch to have your wife's view as an outsider. This can be an ongoing feature for future videos.
Another great vid like always Mike! I’ve been thinking about the upgrade, but like you said, your games are just as fun! Thinking I will stick with my LCD and upgrade once the Deck 2 comes out. Cheers mate!
Man like Mike is alive! Awesome to have another upload dude🙌🏼
I wasn’t interested in any extra case for my Steam Deck Oled but when I saw that cute bag I’m definitely getting the pair ❤❤❤
I discovered your channel in the last few days and it's really fun to watch your humorous and at the same time informative videos. My Steam Deck OLED ordered this week will be under the Christmas tree (I didn't have one before). Keep up the good work, greetings from Germany!
PS: Maybe you can make another video with new game recommendations! :)
Ahh thanks man thats really kind of you, so glad you're enjoying the videos! Woooo thats so exciting man, I think you're going to looove it. I would love to make some more game recommendations. Will try and make that in the new year! Thanks again man 😊
Man I love how you edit your videos!
And yep I was in the 1st batch of the pre-order phase back then with my deck and am now selling it to a friend in Switzerland (where Valve isn't selling the Deck) and bought myself the OLED version with 1TB of storage.
If my estimations are correct then it will arrive this Monday
Thanks so much man! Really appreciate you coming back 😊 Niiiiice let me know what you think when you get it!
@@mike.barnes When I don't forget about it I will try to come back and post my impressions with it. Also my initial comment about Monday being the day was off by one day since I did mix up the dates. And sadly on top of that the delivery service seems to either have issues with Snow or something and even if today is the estimated delivery date I doubt that it will arrive since the Package seems to not even have left the Netherlands yet based on the package tracking Website. 😅
@@mike.barnes It arrived today and I am very happy with it! I am already working on setting up all my software tweaks again 😂.
You`re such a good orator and your content and scripts are on-point and it feels like I am talking to a friend! This channel should have way more than 15 K subscribers. Keep up the hard work. You'll get to 100 K subscribers in no time.
Very informative/entertaining video Mike. Thanks for the insight.
my favourite youtube channel atm.
Bro until just now I would have never called this kind of thing a calling, you won my sub.
Great down to earth advice, thank you.
Subscribing as I'm impressed with how you edit your videos! Keep up the great work. You've convinced me to purchase this Steam Deck!
Thank you man! Really appreciate that 😄oooo sick! Lemme know what you think about it!
The steam deck definetly the all rounded handhelds 🔥
I love yours & Hannah's genuinely lovely personality. I love your tech that makes your life better video 11 months ago.
I didn't want this.. but now.. That screen just looks amazing!
Best review ive seen on a steamdeck oled so far!
I got my steam deck just under a year ago and I am a bit gutted. People that brought the LCD a few weeks before they released the OLED must be livid. If they weren't likely going to release a SD2 down the line I'd definitely upgrade now.
Here’s what’s going to happen: it’s going to take 2-3 years for a Steam Deck 2 to come out. About 1.5 years from now you’re going to get a scuff on the screen of your LCD or something and think “Screw it, I’ll just get an OLED.” Six months later: Steam Deck 2.
I think that Valve will be taking its time with the Steamdeck 2. Waiting until Zen5 comes out with RDNA4. RDNA3 isn't that big of a jump from RDNA2. The Zen 2 cores aren't really holding back the Steamdeck even with it being a quad core. I'd expect the Steamdeck 2 to once again use a custom SOC probably with Zen4 or Zen4c cores on a node shrink along with RDNA4. Valve is working on their standalone Headset too, so I'm not sure if they will have some internal benchmark for hardware, like 90fps sustained in Half-Liie Alyx, which will be easier and easier as time passes.@@Beastw1ck
If you have LCD its not worth buying the OLED, i did the mistake and returned it.
Steam Deck 2 is about two away. They'll do an update once they can get about a doubling in performance at 15 watts on the APU. This means waiting on AMD's 3nm or 2nm mobile APUs, which points to updated hardware in 2025 or 2026.
@kr1me2000 That's too bad. I upgraded from the LCD to the OLED Limited Edition and I am blown away by how much more I like it.
Mike's videos are good for my soul!
Love my switch OLED and have a metric ton of games on that platform. Now on the fence of getting the SE OLED. Damnit Gabe 😂
Great video! One of the best reviews I've seen that comes from the perspective from an average consumer in my opinion.
I agree, a lot of review videos make no sense to me as its too technical, I just want to know what the average gamer will think of it and I got it with this video
Thank you so much man! Really glad you enjoyed 😊
finally my favorite steam deck youtuber released a new video!
Love both models of the steam deck. Particularly love the touch pads.
My partner lost a hand years ago and is able to use the right touch pad fairly fluently as an analogue stick. I don’t think valve heavily advertises this as an accessibility feature but they should.
Great review! Probably the best one I’ve seen so far. I have been holding onto my unopened limited edition trying to decide if I should sell it or keep it but you may have just convinced me to keep it.
This channel has such good vibes. Love the production style
Thanks so much my man 🙏 Really appreciate ya
Bros definitely blowing up in 2024, phenomenal production
So well done!
Great video as always!
The man is back! 🤟
Very enjoyable and informative! I’ve been wondering what the difference was,but I have an OG steam deck, and I just bought a Lenovo Legion Go, so that’s enough for now.
Do you have any issues with the headphone jack? Many are reporting issue about crackling audio in headphone jack
What camera are you using to do your vids? Enjoyed this take so much 👍🏼
08:25 😂😂😂. INCREDIBLE edit. I’m dying
Great vid and solid review! You earned yourself another sub :) I'm really considering getting the OLED 512 GB at the moment, I'm glad I didn't get the LCD when it released. My problem with the Deck isn't so much about the Deck itself. It's the fact that i have 2 gaming PC's, a gaming laptop, an Xbox Series X, a bunch of retro consoles, the list goes on and on. I'm just afraid this thing will end up collecting dust after the initial excitement settles down. On the other hand, I really see myself using this a lot. So thanks for the in depth review and comparison to the LCD version and I appreciate what you said at the end of the video. The Deck won't make me happier as a gamer haha
just got one recently and ya holy cow the difference is so night and day. love it and also have a ally so i get best of both worlds :]
Loving the green screen Mike!
This guy had the best review on steam deck
I loved death’s door! Played and finished it on my old LCD steam deck. Wish they released the next game already! Looking for games like that, maybe ‘no rest for the wicked’ will quench that thirst.
11:58 I believe part of the drive of making Steam OS was to keep openness alive on the PC platform. Microsoft having a complete monopoly on PC gaming is bad for their business. They were worried about the anti-competitive nature of Microsoft (looking at you, UWP garbage Xbox app).
I already have a steam deck so I’ll wait for a proper upgrade.
mine is arriving monday. i know i did a good choice with it. valve put a lot of work into this hand held
Totally unneeded, but I just want a camera on the back center of the steam deck because it would feel so right to take a picture with it. It's so nice in the hands.
Love mine, play it every day!
Great video! informative but funny and you sir have a new subscriber!
Thank you my man!
Awesome review, i just ordered mine !!! quick question, whats the game at 3:49 please ? Looks so cool with these little characters
I didn’t either. Got it and haven’t touched my consoles since. I’m still struggling to understand how I can play Ready or Not on deck and it looks and plays incredible. I actually enjoy tweaking to make something play and run perfect, and it’s really easy to figure out, and I’ve never played PC and no nothing about specs
Mine was shipped the other day. Keen as for it to arrive.
I was hoping I could sell my old Deck and upgrade to this one without taking too much of a hit, but the prices on the old LCD models and the used market took such a hit that I’d be losing at least $225 by selling and upgrading. This makes it an even easier decision for anyone who has been on the fence about picking one up for the first time, though!
@mike.barnes Hey I hope you can help me with this or anyone else:
How noticeable is input lag on the Oled Steam Deck in your opinion?
Im pretty sensitive about this and heard mixed reports about latency on the original Steam Deck. Like how is the Oled when compared to your desktop PC?
Thanks in advance! Have a great New Year :)
I wonder If you can put the new battery in the older deck? Don't think il upgrade until a better release
Really nice video. I just got my oled and used the LCD and oled side by side and I fully agree with your wife. You only see the immediate difference if you have them side by side. Except for battery life. And some games do run more stable.
In terms of oerformance vs things like the Ally and Legion Go, at 15w TDP, they perform on the same ballpark as the deck. On average 1 or 2 fps higher than the LCD and 1 or 2 fps lower than the OLED. Lower TDPs the deck absolutely dominates. And the performance is enough to play things like Cyberpunk and that is one of the games where I noticed the OLED had a clear advantage. The game just looks better. Like if you are playing at higher graphical settings. Edges seem more distinct and depth perception increases. It is a better experience. But even the LCD is capable of playing Cyberpunk, BG3, RDR2, Ratchet and Clank at over 30 fps. And they look great on an 800p 7 inch display. So perfornance is there I think. Starfield is an unoptimized mess and the conspiracy theory side of my brain thinks that with mods like Deck Essencials, that do things like reducing the number of light sources and slightly cut down geometry which makes the game look the same on a small screen but run at 30 FPS almost locked (which is a smooth experience with the screen at 60 or 90hz), andthe fact bethesda doesn't dk this to optimize their game for weaker hardware... Well, the deck is a competitor to windows. It breaks hegemony. Heck, on the handheld market, linux is by and large the most used Operating system thanks to the deck. I believe starfield doesn't run well on the deck by design.
Greta vid . Definitely swung me into getting an OLED
Nice video 👍 Did you choose the 512gb or the 1tb version for this review?
It’s my first handheld since I had a gameboy in the 90s.
Really fun way to game and it seems to run modern games like Baldur’s gate 3 really well
So desperately wanna play Baldurs gate on here man 🥲
Awesome, man. Happy you got one.
Did you film the LCD with the default colour profile on it, as in no increased saturation/Vibrant Deck?
I really want one but having just bought an LCD in July, I'm so on the fence about the loss I'd make when selling it to get an OLED.
Thank you man! Yeah this was all default, you can deffo push the colours with vibrant deck, although its worth baring in mind it may make some scenes look kinda, unbalanced in the colour department and you won't get the deep blacks of the OLED but defitnley a great middle ground as buying another steam deck is kinda crazy 😂
Thinking to get 512 gb oled but have some concerns.
So there is still a chance for Thumb stick drift ?
Also a bit concerned about the dead pixels and headphone jack issues. Are the new batch of steam decks have less issues that i mentioned ?
I was sure I was sticking with the original Steam Deck until Steam Deck 2 arrives. Then I watched your video and now I feel like I NEED an OLED version
Bro I can’t wait to get my deck honestly it was faster then I expected to because it’s coming to my house in two days✨
I sold my Steam Deck last year, as the old IPS screen felt outdated. I am considering purchasing the Steam Deck OLED, as I have many games to catch up on as i don't have enough time to play on my gaming PC or PS5.
Hey Mike, just come from another one of your videos. I'm absolutely loving all the content on the channel, it's at such a beautifully high quality whilst being so compelling and engaging! We share the exact same humour too, I love a good video that makes me chuckle.
I was on your charity page a second ago and was trying to sign up for Amazon Smile, but I couldn't see where it was. Perhaps I missed it, but I'd love to help support in any way that I can, especially considering how much I end up spending on Amazon. Do let me know :)
Hey man! Thank you sooo so much for such a kinda comment. Really means so much and I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos 🙏🏼
Ahh dude that’s SO kind of you. Unfortunately Amazon smile have shut down that service so we can’t use it anymore. But you’re always free to donate but I totally understand that’s a big ask so no worries at all mate. A share on socials is always massively helpful if you’d like to support us too!
Thanks again man, so kind of you 🙏🏼
can't wait to pick this up this month glad I never got the first gen one
Just ordered mine today got the 512gb which for me is the most reasonable one and im very hyped about it since it will be my first steamdeck 😁
Bro try using gyro as mouse on borderlands 2, it’s game changing, more accurate fine tuning of your aim paired with using the right stick to aim as well. Really shines when using a slow ads sniper and hip fire
Is it still worth buying if I play on iphone 15 pro paired with backbone controler?
Man, I’m so on the verge of ordering this.
The Steam Deck OLED is my first handheld PC. I'm liking it alot. With this, and my Switch OLED, I think I'm good for awhile. I just need to get a dock for my Deck, then I'm all good. Been playing Switch with my SN30 Pro, and can't wait to use it on the Deck. It's a great device
the better touch screen is actually a big reason i want this over the normal deck
Great video and content. I own both Steam deck and Switch. I still prefer Switch for gaming, but will say that if you have a lot of PC games (I do) and you don't mind spending a lot of time fiddling with your gaming device per game (I really hate this part)... Steam Deck can be a great device.
I use my steam deck about 16..20 hours a day. About 10 hours ... 14 hours for work and whatever is left, either gaming, youtube or netflix.
I bought it as a backup for my laptop. I think I should remove the batteries from my laptop. Also the power usage is so much less than my laptop (with RX580 eGPU).
Ordered my 1 TB OLED SD today!
Already own an upgraded 64 gb -> 512 GB LCD SD. I love this thing so damn much I knew it's gonna be worth upgrading after hearing many independent reviewers praise all the upgrades in this major Gen 1 refresh (it's 57 total improvements in OLED version (!) as summed up by SkillUp).
Probably gonna sell off my LCD SD to offset/mitigate the top OLED model purchase price a little bit, but the LCD version IMO still is a great handheld and while inferior to OLED, not obsolete.
Lunch time treat video from Mr and Mrs Barnes!
I have the original Steam deck and I love it! I got a ROG ally for Christmas and wasnt crazy about it. Its difficult to get set up and doesn't feel as comfortable to play for long periods of time as the Steam deck. Mainly because of the placement of the thumb sticks. The Steam deck to me just has a more premium look and feel to the ally.I can still return it so I think im going to do that and upgrade to the Steam OLED. Enjoyed the review 👍
perfect review!
You need to play GRIS, just for the music alone and it's a quickie about 4 hours, but so worth it!
Should buy steam deck oled?
I am a Mac User... Give me a advise please~~!🙏🏻
the wight makes a difference for me i noticed it pretty fast on the lcd my wrist would start hurting after 40 ish minutes but with the oled every time i start to feel my wrist starting to hurt the battery is almost dead anyways so like 2 3 hours on a AAA game.
i love the intro music
Thank you for not using a click bait misleading thumbnail. I can’t tell you how many thumbnails for the steam deck and steam deck OLED I’ve seen where the bezels are very very thin. It’s really deceptive if you ask me.
glad i waited to buy my oled deck will be here on the 5th
I wish there had been a trade-in system. I bought my LCD in August and they released the OLED in October.😢 my OLED will be delivered sometime this week but now I don’t know what to do with my LCD lol
I just got a Steam Deck about 3 months ago. While I'm a little salty about a new OLED SD, the OG SD is so good I'm in no rush to try and get the new model. I'd rather wait for the Steam Deck 2 or see what the new Nintendo Switch 2 is gonna offer. Either way I'm blessed to be able to spend money on a handheld portable considering all things. I'm happy with what I have. Looks great though!
