- Do you have a second GPU but is not SLI or Crossfire compatible with your new GPU?
Well here is a few option you can re-use your GPU to actually get something out of it again.

1. Mining
2. PhysX
3. OBS Encoder
You're welcome.
And video rendering
Shit, spoilers :p
I use a gtx 650 for nvenc encoding while i use rx 580 to play the games, while it works flawlessly on that scenario, its a bit troublesome to get into that scenario, when cold booting, i usually have freeze / hangs or blue screen of deaths while loading windows or launching stuff on the monitor that the gtx 650 is plugged to and id like a way to fix that.. I installed drivers fr scratch, by installing rx 580 on the system, get drivers, install 650 and then drivers too
I use it for Handbrake, hashcat, SSL on gpu library, waiting for more encryption on gpu applications.
Literally the main reason I came into the comments was to find a comment like this. Thanks
You spent 10 minutes rambling but only gave three options. Thanks for wasting my time.
My pleasure.
@@WeDoTech I agree with this man, even if it doesn't give any sort of improvement, some graphs and solid evidance woulda been alot nicer than a 10min video.
Hopefully I always read the comments first.
What were the options ?
@@ohio_dino 1) use second gpu for mining
2) Run second gpu as a PhysX card
3) Use second GPU as video encoder for recording gameplay (not really useful for streaming though)
Two things I use my old PCI-E card for:
1) Provide me with video outputs for additional displays. My GTX1060 has 5 outputs, and my iGPU used to have one more, but some time ago I fried the port (electrostatic suxx!) and some internal chip on my mobo, so I am not able to use it. So...plugged my old PCI-E video card on a secondary slot, and voila, more outputs, fully integrated in Windows 10 or Linux, so I can move windows around between monitors attached to different cards, or assing specific VMs to displays.
2) Use it for community science projects that use GPU computing, like BOINC/Seti@Home or disease studies. It runs in parallel, so I don't even know it's there, it does not affect my main GPU or my computer usage.
THANK YOU! I've been searching everywhere trying to figure out what to do with my 2nd one, and SETI@Home is where I'm gonna start.
Thank you. This really helped me.
13min and I still have no idea how to set it up!
I used to just run one card per monitor. Worked pretty well.
huh.. that seems a lot easier
robbycurtis95 obviously...
Thx
But does each video card independently run rendering per monitor, or are you just rerouting display output through the ports on the second card while a primary does all the rendering work?
@Wessel Seinen ki tudja?
Wow you literally rambled for almost 10 minutes before you got to the point.. rip my life .... smh 😵
I hate when youtubers waste time trying to pander for that 10 min ad rev
@@Meowblivion Well, he probably doesn't try to have 10 mins, he don't put any ad's in video so it makes no sense
Actually, 5 mins in he already began speaking of PhysX among other things before that
@@awer4943 he does
damn....I thought I was the only one that heard that too. I was blacking out not knowing what I was listening to. hahahaha
I have run an A770 with a R6800Xt, the 6800 was the primary and the A770 was a render/ productivity card, both were hooked to separate monitors and the programs that worked best on each were set up to run on them in Windows Graphics Option control panel. Also works well with an AMD/Nvidia dual card setup.
People before the video: "How???"
People after the video: "What???"
Thanks for your input. I recently bought a lot of Dell T5600 for gpu rendering. Even though i didnt get them for sli I found out they are not sli compatible. In adobe photoshop cs6 extended, I recall having the option to choose what gpu to use for rendering the special effects and filters.

Mining with old GPUs probably are gonna end up costing you much more in power costs than you'd ever make mining.
Good info. Thanks.
Do you have any links where we can see how to run a separate card for physics and/or rendering?
Tried Googling it but haven't found anything good yet....
would this be a suitable option for someone who day trades games and performs other productivity tasks
Im thinking about running a 2 monitor setup but i was wondering if I could plug my 1060 into one monitor for gaming and my r7 for other apps on my second monitor will any problems happen?
I'm wondering about this as well. Did you ever get an answer to this?
@@kylebennett4337 no i didnt, i dont think it will work tbh so idk
@@ffs_auggie it could work, although your ram and cpu resources will be used as well
Use it for OBS streaming, keep it for backup, or sell it. Those are your only viable options. No gain from PhysX, and gpu crypto mining is irrelevant now thanks to ASIC miners.
im trying to install a seccond gpu which is a 3070 on my PC. i already have on 3080ti installed. I have enough power but after installation, there is a lag when I move my mouse and frequent crashes. I tried removing all drivers and doing a fresh install with DDU. my motherboard is asus rog strix x570 E.... Please let me know what I'm doing wrong. could it be something with pcie lane support?
Definitely happy I read the comments, I ain't giving more than 30 seconds of watch time if nothing useful comes out of the video anyways.
2023 update: Smaller size LLM GPT-like Chatbot and or stable diffusion art generator dedicated to spare gpu
Your videos would be so much more efficient if you didn’t repeat yourself so much as well as reducing the unnecessary information. You really don’t need to explain so much why people shouldn’t expect a lot out of trying any of these options. Give the recommendations and what to expect and let the viewers try for themselves. You’re not responsible for what people decide to do with that info
Yeah maybe he can work on a script maybe?
I love how he preanounces card as cord
@@nuttowel8202 true 😆
He's got a fake accent going on, trying to sound more "international".
Some people say you can't SLI different size GPU's and others say SLI will just down clock to the lowest card specs. Because when some people say its not possible they actually just mean it's silly because you won't be able to use both card's max performance. So,...which is it? Completely impossible..error..., or just silly? For example a GTX 1070 and 1070Ti in SLI?
Pieter den Boer well it depends and varies card to card. You typically want the same model, to avoid any problems even the not all games use sli. So performance gains wontbalways happen. And if you use different cards the drivers will just produce errors and in some cases you lose performance. You also want to keep the faster gpu in the top most pci e slot. Then there's pci e lane speeds, usually the top most pci e slot is a 16x and then the others are 8x at most. It gives you a clue to limiting performance. It's half the speed and might just not work properly. In short, SLI is not worth it.
You just cant do it by normal.means, you can have hacked drivers or software, you can even use and nvidia and amd card and do a "slifire" but theres no real support to it, as there is no real support for sli with different cards, only amd offers that with polaris atm
So yeah, you wouldnt be playing even 20% of your game livrary with hacked sli or "slifire"
can you make a video that has 2 cards in one build, mining with one gpu and gaming on the other?
first South African UA-camrs that I have found yet
Yo man welcome then. Hope you enjoy some of my other videos.
Have you never seen UFD Tech?
Dyson Dude no but I will check them out..
I'd imagine you can use two different Cards in a Build, Though I recommend getting the same video card.
Such as if you are using an Nvidia Card, It would make stress far more tolerable and relieved knowing to use the same brand you use in your system. (THough) You still can use two different cards such as an AMD + GeForce Cards.
As long as you download "BOTH" Drivers that are required to utilize the graphics cards you've installed in your system (As well making sure they will fit before buying.) you will be able to use two different cards regardless. However, As a disclaimer, you cannot SLI or Crossfire using different cards. It will not perform or "Boost" your performance in any way...
It will be a dedicated graphics card, and you will have to set your primary graphics card to be used with the client that you are using... I use a RTX 3050 Combined with a GTX 1050 TI for Encoding and Decoding... for streaming or recording... But again... It is recommended that you use the same brand as it makes stress, Issues or even compatibility way easier.
I just took out my old gtx 1060 from my old gaming pc…I’m ordering all new parts for a new build, what do you recommend I do with my old gtx?
@@Will3Alexander explicit multi gpu
What I needed to know, is how to use an older graphics card. To run a separate monitor or TV off the same Windows 10 EVGA mother board. So basically having two graphics cards, running to separate video devices, AND, not necessarily at the same time.🤔 So my search continues.😊
Just plug one display into each
@@pimcz78 Thanks for your response. However, that was quite awhile ago that I had that question and issue. As I recall, I did try what you're suggesting, and it didn't work. There could have been any number of reasons why. Such as drivers, or the lack there of, or other issues. At present I am using an HDMI splitter to run a 32" PC monitor and a 55" TV.👍👍 Stay well.😊
I do not want to run the cards together but run 3 games on one card and three games on the other using two monitors
Howzit I'm also south African
I have a 1050 ti and a rx 560 how do I use both
Sizza FN get two of the same card or get multiple monitors
Need a board with 2 PCI E slots & a PSU with high enough for both like +550w to 750W
Better to put in 2nd home theatre PC
Unless a new special game supports both you can't game on both .
Make the weaker 1 a Physic card.¿
Physic works better with Nvidia.
I use RX 580 for games on main monitor, and GTX 650 for Physx and NVENC stream encoding
Noobie here, Do I need SLI supported motherboard to run dual GPU without sli bridge? or I can just use motherboard with 2 PICes slot?
FOr SLI your motherboard needs to support it and you need an SLI bridge.
Thank you for quick response
Is it possible to use it to vr, like Use my main gpu to run the game and for the secend just run the vr
i have old nvidia graphics card witch not supports new nvidia drivers and i have new on and i wants to use both so what should i do ?
My home pc is an ancient xeon e3 1240v2 with gigabyte P67 board that has 2 x16 pcie slots, but the no.2 slot is only at x4 speed. I have 2 e-waste quadro p4000, any benificial of installing 2 of them ?😅
How do I hook them up like this do both need to be connected to the monitor or do I just plug both of them in? I’m new to computer stuff
So can I just like use my 1070 Ti for another monitor and my old 970 for another monitor?
yeah
No
Video games are not made for two different cards what you want is still experimental and/or not optimized for games
Yes but why? Does the 1070 not have enough ports?
I have a 3090 and a 3060ti could I put both of them together without nvlink?
i have a gtx 1660ti and a very old gt 7-- somthing is it worth buying a new mother board to use both the 1660 and the 7-- at the same time ?

If I wanted to use it for blender how should I do it??? What videos are there?
can i crossfire 2 amd gpu like the 7900 xt and rx 580 from spphire pulse and xfx speedster ?
this video could have been 3min long
But youtubers gotta make money
i have a 2nd card with broken vid output,,,,,how do i use the memory from it
Cool vid, really enjoyed it!
You haven't explained the use of Nvidia and and card together
Can i use one amd and one nvidia gpu in my hp z workstation? Some software support nvidia and some don't so i can use them alternatively but keep display on amd card which will be my main gpu. Does that work?
it can be done, you'll need a motherboard with enough PCI lanes, a strong enough power supply and decent cooling. But it would be difficult to get setup and you will probably run into issues quite often, they're really not built to run together
@@WeDoTech you are right. It isn't very useful. So Im going to keep one of the cards and sell the other. Thanks for the help
Is it possible for me to set up a second card just to get more ports for my monitors?
I used four monitors to give me plenty of screen space when working, but I'm having a hard time finding new graphics cards with four ports.
So I'm thinking, what if I keep my old card plugged in and just use it for an extra port for a monitor?
Is it possible? And how do I set it up in a way that won't bork up my gaming nor draw too much from my PSU?
Yes, it is possible. I had the same issue, I used 3 monitors in nvidia surround and later i added my old monitor as secondary. Nvidia GPUs are limited to 4 monitors, but still even on desktop it didnt went down to idle speed while being on the desktop. I did some research and tested a bit and since than i use my "old" GPU as secondary for secondary monitors and physix. Currently running 3 monitors on each GPU. How much it is drawing from the PSU i can't tell you to be honest, but i guess it really depends on the GPU. Keep in my even if it's displayed over the second GPU the first does the main load as long you dont tell the system otherwise. For example if i play a game on my TV which is connected to the secondary GPU the load is on the first one. So using it as port for more monitors it is most of the time in idle state and shouldnt draw that much power
I have a Titan x Pascal now I have a Maxwell also is there a way to still utilize it not using SLI
I have a GTX 960 as my main GPU and the card I upgraded from, an old Radeon HD 7000-Series card (I think its the 7750 but I'm not 100% sure). Other than for mining and since AMD cards don't support PhysX, what can I do with that extra AMD card?
keep it as a backup
You can use it for recording gameplay but i think it has to be at least plugged into a second monitor
Is this possible use 2 gpu's and when one of the gpu bsods, then to switch monitor video input to another gpu, from there to restart that gpu in device manager that bsoded? What i wonder, if the openGL 3d application and other applications will be restored fully for the bsoded gpu? Given the fact that bsod has been disabled in Windows 10 and the screen just freezes or artifacts in case of bsod. Lets say the music was playing in backround, and after bsod the music keeps playing, but the screen is just artifacting and or frozen.
You know, if you bsod, you bsod the ENTIRE system, its one computer, bsod is windows crashing due to a specific problem, not just a gpu crashing, one gou crashes, the rest of the system crash too

If you have a second PCIE slot AND more importantly, you have a power supply that can support it, use the 1050 as a PhysX card.

WheelmanGames don't plug in the second card to the monitor, just leave it stand alone and games will default to the main card
Check the game settings, some games have the gpu option. Also if for some reason you don't have the main gpu in the top pci e slot you should fix that. And like the other comment said don't connect the display to the second gpu.
