You built a gaming PC for $200?! How did you manage that, a good cheap processor alone is around that price? Cheapest I managed to build a PC with reasonable specs to run the latest games at good 1080p was £500-£600 ish
Actually it was only $140. But to be fair I already had the GPU, so that saved me about $80. Check out my channel. If you know enough about computer tech you can safely buy the right equipment save a ton of money.
Stoycho Karaulanov in your fucking country our minimal salary gets ur gaming pc in a year 300€ a month when u spend at least 150€ on taxes basic ones water/electricity/rent/warmth 100€ for food and 50€ for all other stuff try to buy pc with that genius

Ive gotten into computer building quite litterally within a month and a half. These kinds of videos are extremely helpful in understanding different parts and brands and the various terms. Thanks Jay!
Indeed. Also bigger heat output and bigger prices if crypto currency mining becomes big again. But generally cheaper cards than NVidia. Simple example being a r9 295x being 1000 two gpus on one card 1+1=2 when gtx titan Z is 3000 1+1=3 ???? lol

Chad Parks Most people I know who own consoles are lazy when it comes to building a computer. For me, it's the really fun part so I take joy in selecting parts to my liking, assembling them etc. and PC Gaming comes naturally with that territory. Others just don't care. I'm not saying they shouldn't but I can't make them so that's that.
***** Not my point, if you showed this to them, which is actually a really good video by the way, they'd still scream about it being too complicated, too expensive, too much effort, blah, blah, blah.
this was definitely a lot of help involving choosing a video card. I never really had experience with them until recently since I only just purchased a build and have been working on upgrading it as well as possibly be building a second PC rig. I will definitely be watching other videos and seeing what suggestions and needs I may have before investing money into that second rig
AMD vs Intel= CHEAPEST Amd vs Nvidia= CHEAPEST People need to get it through there head that most often than not the cheapest will take the cake more often.
gimmie55 intel is also better for gaming, the cores are just a lot more powerfull, stable, and cool, of course if you want a cheap gaming pc you should buy a quad core amd than a dual core intel processor but for gaming a 4 core i5 is better than a 6/8 core amd for the same price.
gimmie55 This is obviously sarcasm.. what modern AMD core is better alone against a comparative modern Intel core? AMD has a price advantage over Intel processors... that's it, even with 8 AMD FX cores, which aren't really standalone cores, the performance of the Intel will trump the former due to their superior calculations per tick. This not only means better compute performance at similar clock speeds, but better efficiency to boot, even if the amount of energy per calculation is negligible.
No, that means air will condense on your hardware components and cause water droplets to form. Is there a hotter version of Potato. Maybe an Idaho or California version?

Back in the day you needed the exact same make and model in order to SLI or Crossfire. My first ever build had a BFG GTX 260, and I wanted to pick up another one after a while. However, I could not find any BFG GTX 260s, because by the time I wanted one, they were out of business. I bought a different brand 260 and wasn't able to SLI it at all. Nowadays, it doesn't matter. My previous build mixed a reference 6870 and a custom 6870 without any issue. The only thing that might happen is if you mix base clocks or memory capacities, it will drop your card to your lowest-performing card. You can even mix models in some cases (AMD loves mixing models; they even advertised that certain R9 cards could Crossfire with 7900-series cards without issue).
***** That's wrong, Nvidia cards require the same amount of vram, An example being you can't sli a 2gb 770 with a 4gb 770. AMD are less strict and you can crossfire as an example a 7950 with a 7970 but I'm unsure about the ram.
StompySan Yes, you can even Crossfire a 7970 with a 280X and a 280 with a 7950, Nvidia wouldnt allow you to use a 680 with a 770 even though they are technically the same.
Bloody Grundel Adrian Cabrera BTKZ_Nayth now I have the job & money to buy good graphics card but I don't have time :( ..... I miss my old days.... used to play games all day...... I guess life changes.......
Actually, my question is what to look for in budget graphics cards. Under $100, maybe $75. Looking at the AMD Athlon X4 860K. I have the Athlon 7750 right now and the ATI Radeon HD 3200 with an EMAXX EMX-AMD780G Pro. I just bought this from an old net cafe that closed down. Ram is 2 sticks of 2 GB ram
MSI VGA PCI X GT 720 1GB GD5 this one is kinda good and its at 70 bucks it runs at 1250mhz it runs a lot of games at high graphics like lol, dota 2,smite so this is pretty good for you i mean you are saying 75$
Hey man if u are still searching and spend 90-100 bucks get r7 250x i use it by myself in the msi version and its great i know people be like ohh that card looks shit but its really not i can play bf4 on high with it with 55 fps and most modern games are possible on medium to high graphics settings
Will I be able to run Grand Theft Auto V on the highest settings possible, with these specs? - i7-4790K - Gainward GeForce GTX 980 - Corsair 16GB DDR3 RAM 1600MHz - ASUS Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 - Samsung 500GB SSD - Cooler Master 750W PSU And by the way, should I buy another type of motherboard, should I buy one or two 970's and do I "need" 1600MHz or 1866MHz RAM? Gta 5 ultra uses more than 4gb Vram even at 1080p. If you were going for a 970 I would have said 390 but the 980 has more than enough Vram not as much as the 390 but still enough for 4k ultra with gta
Alpha Chinoz Asking a question like that after having listed some of the top computer components available is quite stupid, there has to be sarcasm here somewhere and if not I feel sorry for your children.
I figured that reference cards were just run of the mill designs, but didn't piece it together that for water cooling systems you'd need to stick with them for part compatibility. You learn something everyday. Thanks Jayz!
+Kareem Eastman It's not that hard, it just takes some time to learn the terms. Ive only been building PCs for about a year and ive got it all down basically.
Jarmo Steenhuis a gtx 970 is better than 960 but a 960 in most cases is enough for 1080p you can also get a 970 I don't actually know what your speculation is but don't get a 980 like daniel says cause then you get over 100 fps witch is not only useless, but it will also cause a lot of screentearing
Yes you can. You can even use 2 gigs, but you would have to turn off some features. To use most of the graphical features that I want, I end up using a little more than 3.5 gigs of vram. The extra ram comes in handy for that instance.
+emanuel barbosa Because of the 3.5gb-gate thing people and press were getting hard ons about 1-2 years ago, basicly, 512mb runs slower than the rest of the vram (3.5gb)
Fuk this Sh1t heh i dont have a problem with that i have a problem with the false advertising becuse if i buy something that says 4 GB of vram i want my 4 GB
Go with Nvidia. I was a AMD fan boy for years, and Nvidia won me over. I got sick of HOT and loud 90c cards gobbling power. + AMD has never made good drivers, even now they fuck up drivers constantly. Nvidia is like a European sports car AMD is like AN America sports car. Yes AMD is cheaper and can be faster, But Nvidia always a better refined card and drivers.
Have you ever thought that you might just have shitty cooling in your PC ? I myself am using a Nvidia card, but a lot of my friends have AMD cards which run cool so you're just bad at cooling your PC parts.
Jester Muffin AMD cards have temp targets of 90c stock. My 5970 ran 95c all day lol. My 780ti runs 60c in the same case. Then I water cooled it and hit 38c.
I just want to know if this setup will be a good one once i build it. And will it be able to run most games in 60FPS? Specs: 8 or 16 GB Ram (still deciding) Intel Pentium G3258 3.2 Ghz MSI GeForce GTX 960 2 GB VRAM
PrimaVodka pentium is trash for modern gaming. If it doesn't have at least 4 cores, don't even bother, the game won't run Video card is good for budget builds
The Ultimate Walrus it's the 4 threads on the i3 which work better ncix did a few vids and they found it that some 2 core single thread processors couldn't display some things in modern games. Ie. People opening a door. You would hear their voices and see a door open. More problematic in online game play as I imagine
***** ? Most modern games list a quad core as MINIMUM System Requirements, are you stupid? www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=1308&game=Grand%20Theft%20Auto%20V www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=1308&game=Grand%20Theft%20Auto%20V
***** OC at 5ghz on a AMD yields almost the same performance on a i5 OC to 4ghz, so no, you are wrong on a pentium running better than a AMD card (sorely wrong) I have had hands on experience with a pentium of similar specs as you speak of, and was not able to run modern games on it because of the lack of reliable, tech advanced cores we have today
***** 'you'll see how the pentium g3258 performs similar if not better than the fx 8350 which is an 8 core processor, but it has 8 very weak cores compared to only 2 very powerful cores' copy paste from what you said, so you in fact did compare the 2 which prompted my response, and believe it or not, I know more than you if you think you can run GTA V and Witcher 3 at all on a pentium. Then again, I am a ignorant 12 year old that knows jack shit about computers.
This is my build +JayzTwoCents AMD FX-6300,Sapphire Dual x R9-270x2GB with 8 gb of ram,a modest motherboard Asrock 960GM-VGS3 FX mATX AM3+,and only for 450 euros plus shipping, and i am very satisfied with it,i don't have a 1080p monitor so i play games at 900p and it really is amazing for the price! And you did help me a lot on understanding what parts to choose,i wish i had 1000 euros to spend on a pc,but life sucks for now......:)
+Sebastian Kjær Lauridsen Actually, I have been using it for about a month, now. It actually does very well in the games and other applications I have ran it through. Its a great budget card.
GUYS! You need 20 gb of video ram on your graphics card, and if not, your pc will suddenly explode a 2 block radius, with nuclear radiation!! THEN IT WILL PLAY SOME RICK ASTLEY! SAVE YOURSELF! 20 GB OF VRAM! if you do not see that this is a joke, you are stupid.
Thanks for this amazing beginners explanation it really helped now I know all about reference and custom fans for 5 minutes! Maybe longer but I have no clue about anything you mentioned.
Quick tip, he said at the beginning of the video that he'd give some basics. Terminology he said that he didn't clarify on for beginners; >API ( Application Program Interface ) - In this case, long story short, set of protocols that allows you to use your GPU more efficiently.
For my first (current) build I chose 2 R9 280X cards, not thinking of taking one more high end card and later on purchasing another. I have issues in some games with glitches across the screen, random colors popping up and flimmering etc. I will make sure to look back at this video once I'll build another system.
I have 2 additional consideration to choose a gfx card. One is the power supply requirement. You don't want to install the most powerful gfx card and discover the computer can't even start up. Next is the length of the card. If you are getting card from EVGA or Sapphire, most of their cards are long and might not fit in your casing. You are lucky if you can remove the HD cage to complete the installation.
I thought you were going to talk about core speed and memory bus width and stuff like that. But the information you told was useful too. You've answered my "Should I get two graphics cards or one high end graphics card?" But I found out my motherboard only takes one graphics card anyway.
+Desmond That's the exact card I'm getting, plus the little performance gain on the 760. 3Gb will turn games at 1080p to High - Ultra fairly easily. Looking to Crossfire them aswell.
Having recently had the misfortune of buying a video card with poor cooling and loud fan noise I'd like to suggest that video card reviews include a simple test. Use MSI Afterburner to set the fan speed at 50% and with a benchmark utility put the GPU under load until it reaches 80degC on MSI Afterburner then turn off the benchmark load(nothing else should be running) and time how long it takes for the GPU to come down to 50degC. Granted your internal case temp will affect the result but it should still give people an easy way to empirically compare different cards cooling efficiency. Cards come with labels that say things like "Advanced cooling!!!" but when it comes down to it they don't give anything that can be quantified.
could you please make a video similar to this, but explaining the importance of core clock, memory clock and CUDA/stream processors. im a big fan of your videos, you've opened my eyes to the various factors you need to consider when buying components. I'm from South Africa btw
How do you know if a card has the reference design or not? Do you just go to the manufacturer site to find out or do sites like NewEgg tell you (which would obviously make it easier)? I am entertaining the idea of trying some water cooling and I want to have the option with video cards in the future.
Really good quality video, never really was clear on reference vs non-reference. Only complaint i have is not talking about clock speeds. I know that it kinda dictates speed of card but wish you would have explained it.
I'm getting a GTX 980ti for hard-core Club Penguin. Does that sound right?
+Snazzy Sauce GTX 980Ti is old-gen. you need quad configuration titan X's for reasonable performance on Club Penguin. and 128 DDR4 RAM of course.
***** Damn too late! I am only getting about 5 fps in Club Penguin... Why didn't you warn me sooner!?!?!?!?!?
+Snazzy Sauce Hes wrong you need 4 titan z's
Might need to overclock to get 60fps
yah if your not overclocking your quad titan z's your gonna get shit performance
I don't have a lot of money.
Can I have one of those ones in the background that you're not using?

what if you got quad sli with 2gb of vram running in at 4k? would the fps exceeds 60fps?
jedzry j Yes it would exceed 2GB, but 2GB (Quadable) cards are old now, so why would you?
i was just asking. so if you got 4 2gb vram cards, would you in total have 8gb of vram?
jedzry j no, at least with nvidia the amount of usable vram will be the same as a single card's worth in an sli config
if you got 4gb gpu in 2 way sli, in the end would you get 8gb?
nope

+KangarooNinja me :/
Welcome to the pcmasterrace
amd, gti, gigabyte, pci, overclock the cpu, 3.3ghz, pcb, ati or Nvidia
+Kareem Eastman It's not that hard, it just takes some time to learn the terms. Ive only been building PCs for about a year and ive got it all down basically.
+KangarooNinja O______________O lost af
is a gtx 970 better than a 960 on a 1080p monitor?
Yes :)
WAAAY BETTER
Jarmo Steenhuis get a 980 :D
The 970 is way better in terms of price to performance!
The content on this video is perfect, thanks a lot ! :)
Thanks Jay good advice
Here is thus video in a nutshell so save ppl some time JUST GET DAT TITAN X
sigh.
Only get the Titan if you want to run SLI. If not, dual Xeons and a Quadro is a must.
gtx 1070 niBBa
Zohaib Ahmed you're not funny.
GTAV eats VRAM for breakfast.
+Scott B. Same
+Scott B. so i cant use a 970 for GTA oh why 3.5 gigs of Vram WHY no but serasly why 3.5 gigs of v ram nvida
Fuk this Sh1t heh i dont have a problem with that i have a problem with the false advertising becuse if i buy something that says 4 GB of vram i want my 4 GB
ok i just got freaked out when you said my name O.O
Thank You Jayz!.
love your videos
Go with Nvidia.
I was a AMD fan boy for years, and Nvidia won me over.
I got sick of HOT and loud 90c cards gobbling power.
+ AMD has never made good drivers, even now they fuck up drivers constantly.
Nvidia is like a European sports car
AMD is like AN America sports car.
You just got unlucky with the previous card bro.
Jester Muffin
I've used AMD cards since the 3000 series.
I know AMD cards lol.
Nvidia won me over.
90c is a NO go in 2014 lol.
Jester Muffin amd cards suck alot of power. read their specs.
I just want to know if this setup will be a good one once i build it. And will it be able to run most games in 60FPS?
Specs:
8 or 16 GB Ram (still deciding)
Intel Pentium G3258 3.2 Ghz
MSI GeForce GTX 960 2 GB VRAM
PrimaVodka pentium is trash for modern gaming.
If it doesn't have at least 4 cores, don't even bother, the game won't run
Video card is good for budget builds
The Ultimate Walrus it's the 4 threads on the i3 which work better ncix did a few vids and they found it that some 2 core single thread processors couldn't display some things in modern games. Ie. People opening a door. You would hear their voices and see a door open. More problematic in online game play as I imagine
***** ?
Most modern games list a quad core as MINIMUM System Requirements, are you stupid?

www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=1308&game=Grand%20Theft%20Auto%20V
***** OC at 5ghz on a AMD yields almost the same performance on a i5 OC to 4ghz, so no, you are wrong on a pentium running better than a AMD card (sorely wrong) I have had hands on experience with a pentium of similar specs as you speak of, and was not able to run modern games on it because of the lack of reliable, tech advanced cores we have today
***** 'you'll see how the pentium g3258 performs similar if not better than the fx 8350 which is an 8 core processor, but it has 8 very weak cores compared to only 2 very powerful cores'
copy paste from what you said, so you in fact did compare the 2 which prompted my response, and believe it or not, I know more than you if you think you can run GTA V and Witcher 3 at all on a pentium. Then again, I am a ignorant 12 year old that knows jack shit about computers.
Under 301 club!
Here here!
Finally helped me decide between windforce and strix
yeah me 2.
Love your videos man. You helped me a lot!
How to chose a video card ? --> buy AMD
Why ? --> when you must "chose" you dont have the money to buy good NVIDIA Cards
That is about the cuntiest comment I've ever read.
I'm getting nvida card for $130 plus tax 1060
I am watching this after buying an ASUS AMD R7 360... YAY!
Shit gpu
+Sebastian Kjær Lauridsen Actually, I have been using it for about a month, now. It actually does very well in the games and other applications I have ran it through. Its a great budget card.
it still sucks
+Sebastian Kjær Lauridsen fam
+Sebastian Kjær Lauridsen What do you use, then?
Hey Jayz this video was really cool and helpful, thank a lot
always very interesting.thankyou.
I love your videos they help so much you're awesome!
Very informative. Thank you.
your videos are very awesome!
Thanks for this amazing beginners explanation it really helped now I know all about reference and custom fans for 5 minutes! Maybe longer but I have no clue about anything you mentioned.
Thought you were actually talking to me. "Hey you, James"... haha
Quick tip, he said at the beginning of the video that he'd give some basics. Terminology he said that he didn't clarify on for beginners;
>API ( Application Program Interface ) - In this case, long story short, set of protocols that allows you to use your GPU more efficiently.
good job Jay
your the best at this.
For my first (current) build I chose 2 R9 280X cards, not thinking of taking one more high end card and later on purchasing another. I have issues in some games with glitches across the screen, random colors popping up and flimmering etc. I will make sure to look back at this video once I'll build another system.
The windforce. Cards are badass I got 2 a while ago and they are amazing.
I enjoy your humour. Makes my pc education hunt more enjoyable. Very informative video. It's time for me to sub to this channel!
Needed to know more about GPUs and this video really helped me out. Thanks!
helped me out!, thanks a ton!
so many options is driving me crazy!!
JAY! What is your monitor holder called? It's so cool and I want it!
but i dont like the colour red or the colour green
Craig Penfold evga makes complete balck videocards and you can search galax hall of fame for a white videocard
Mattis Cuypers You saved his life!
unless you have a windowed computer case, it doesn't make a difference of which color the graphis card is
You guys know he's joking, right?
Craig Penfold Paint it Black
great informative Video , thanks
thank u this is really going to help me
Good info.
i find your videos very clear and informative thanks :- )
Can you explain more about memory interface? How many bits do you need?
POV: you’re watching in 2021 during the graphics card shortage
I have 2 additional consideration to choose a gfx card. One is the power supply requirement. You don't want to install the most powerful gfx card and discover the computer can't even start up. Next is the length of the card. If you are getting card from EVGA or Sapphire, most of their cards are long and might not fit in your casing. You are lucky if you can remove the HD cage to complete the installation.
ok nice thank u for your advice
Very good video, man, Thx
I thought you were going to talk about core speed and memory bus width and stuff like that. But the information you told was useful too. You've answered my "Should I get two graphics cards or one high end graphics card?" But I found out my motherboard only takes one graphics card anyway.
Coming from somebody who lives in the south, it is so funny when people try to talk like some of us.
1080p is the sweet spot on gaming list for me i love my 780Ti DC2 OC
Thank you so much for this video bro! :D
+Desmond That's the exact card I'm getting, plus the little performance gain on the 760. 3Gb will turn games at 1080p to High - Ultra fairly easily. Looking to Crossfire them aswell.
Thanks so helpful
Is water cooling required for those cards you talked about?
Some good tips, Jay. I was hoping to see coverage of the other specs like memory bus width (128v256), core clock/boost clock and maybe CUDA cores.
Casually spitting your drink out when Jay says your name.
thanks for the vid man
Very helpful!
love ur channel
@jay: if you use the auto-close captioning on this video, every time you say VRAM, it says "beer and."
Woohoo for DX12, we can stack VRAM in SLI now :D
"You'll thank me later, I promise."
Later? I thank you now! Thank you man, I appreciate this video. I subbed and liked the vid.
could you please make a video similar to this, but explaining the importance of core clock, memory clock and CUDA/stream processors. im a big fan of your videos, you've opened my eyes to the various factors you need to consider when buying components.
I know that it kinda dictates speed of card but wish you would have explained it.
good job mate! very informative vid, speaking as a pc builder.
