Totally agree the big hate reason for me when transmission problems, turbo problems, engine oil leaks, fuel pump failures…leak harnes lines… antifreeze leak electrical problems that’s the problem I’m looking for other then that all things he mentioned is just bluffing !
Your leather complaint isn’t related to the leather at all. You’re attributing squishyness to the leather when it’s actually the foam padding underneath the leather. Tap the skin on your bicep and it’s squishy because there’s fat & muscle underneath. Tap the skin on your elbow and it’s hard because it’s just bone. Same thing. More padding isn’t practical from an engineering perspective for those specific areas you pointed out.
Exactly! I thought the leather comments were ridiculous, as were the infotainment screen comments. I love the high infotainment screen location, as you can use it (with the dial) and not lose sight of what's in front of you. His suggestion to have it lower would make it dangerous to use.
How do you know a car is amazing? Someone makes 5 things he hates that are non issues lol. For that last one, Mercedes, bmw, Alfa,Jaguar, Volvo, Lexus, Acura, Audi, Land Rover, Bentley, rolls all look the same across their ranges. It’s a luxury car, not a cheap Toyota that follows every little design of the year trend that comes out and tacks it on to whatever model is coming out. And the engine sound, again it’s a luxury car not a dedicated sports model. The fact that you compared it to the raptor engine noise proves you’re kind of a joke, they’re made for 2 completely different types of people lol
i agree i think genesis gv70 first time out the gate they did very well, is any car perfect nope and never will there be a perfect vehicle but the nit picking of dumb stuff is just crazy, the not so soft padding on the door dash really? are time that bad that people need to bash dumb stuff just to have a video?
My thoughts exactly, this guy is a joke! Yes the 70 & 80 are similar but maybe if he spent an extra 30 seconds looking at the front grill area and air vents along with the back end he would see a definite difference in the 2 vehicles. I hope he didn’t quit his day job.
I believe that the self park only works with you and the key within ten feet so you were too far away, then you got closer and tada worked because you were within the ten feet
Hey Ben, The GV70 offers a wide variety of modes for the driver to enjoy. As I approach 60 yrs old (and I'm a bit of a car guy) I totally love the luxury & comfort side of vehicles BUT also what to turn it up when I can. This GV70 3.5TT should really be about $20-$50K higher priced. It simply does everything really well and is 2nd to none is this segment when it comes to ride quality, comfortness, quietness all while surrounding the occupants with massive luxury features. It is called the baby Bentayga for many reasons. It is so quiet & refined when you want it to be - When you're stuck in traffic or going no where fast. My wife asked me if it was an EV as it was so quiet. Those double paned windows really make a huge difference. Plus the massaging seat is nice!! When you want to drive spiritedly switch it into Sports + mode and you easily hear the roar of the engine and the sweet exhaust notes while enjoying the rear wheel driving bias sporty experience. In comparison, the RDX A Spec it an excellent top rated vehicle but that engine is super noisy vs the GV70 and its a much more stiffer ride. Plus I wasn't impressed with the 0-60 time of 6.4 seconds to the GV 70's of 5.7 (4.9 seconds in the V-6). And the RDX weighs 450 lbs less. Its the luxury components/options, higher tech, standard features & options, the ride quality (can be extremely quiet & smooth AND aggressive and sweet exhaust notes) that makes this GV 70 THE clear winner in segment. Overall the CLEAR winner for me the is the GV70 3.5TT in Sport trim level. I'll take it in that Gorgeous Mauna Red exterior colour with 2 tone interior combination please:-) In Canada that full load price is $76,500 plus taxes. The F&PDI is included in that price. No discounts from that at all. The electrified version is coming out in 2023 but in Canada the top trim level will be about $25K-$35K higher cost to the ICE version. Besides its NO Gas requirement the EV version is a littler quicker with 0-60 times 4.3 to 4.6 seconds. For me I'd put down my deposit yesterday if the EV version had a time in the 3.5 second range. It will have a 500 kms range on a full charge. PS - Lots of dealer problems with Genesis in the States. Here in Vancouver No problems at all. I have 3 dealers within 40 minutes and the nearest is 15 mins away. Cheers all!!
If that’s the worst of it then I have a lot of confidence buying this car! Though I’m with you that I think touch screens in general are a step backward in drivers safety and convenience. Back when radios and a/c controls only had knobs and buttons you didn’t have to take your eye off the road to make adjustments just off of feel.
As far as the touch screen goes, learn to use the rotary dial which is far superior. It rotates, rocks and presses and is very easy to navigate. Your hand is steady while resting on the center console not bouncing around while extended. Also it doesn't put fingerprints all over your screen. It is safer while in motion as you are only glancing at the screen, not at the screen AND aiming your finger. If there is room in airplane cockpits almost everything has gone to a rotary dial or mouse like device. I expect cars will also do this as people get tired of mistakenly pressing the wrong icon or their arms get tired. Complaints about parking and leather were uninformed. I have watched a lot of GV70 reviews and yours was the biggest waste of time so far.
I seriously do not understand people who review cars and then press on the door panel/dashboard and complain about how it’s not ‘squishy’…FFS do you press on it when you’re driving???? NO, do passengers press on it??? NO!!!! 🤦♂️
Not sure if you’re aware. But for the self parking feature you have to be within 10feet of the car. I use to think the same thing that it only works sometimes, then I read the manual and realized I was just too far away those times I try to used it.
I find that a lot of these reviewers nitpick just to have a video. Having to reach a little bit more while driving? How often are you looking at that screen? Pay attention to the road man!
Doesn’t the leather designation Nappa or otherwise usually just apply to seating surfaces? I prefer the controller over the screen while driving for safety and less of a distraction. I agree that the exhaust and engine don’t sound tasty. I like all angles but the rear. I think the GV70 & GV80 are markedly different in size so it’s easy for me. The GV80 also isn’t sloped as aggressively.
Aside from the distance to the screen - which is valid and has been noted by several other well known reviewers - I feel like these “hates” are stretches. Nonetheless, most of the other reviewers aren’t pointing out any issues - so I give you kudos for digging deep! I think it’s an incredible vehicle at the price point, and it’s beautiful to look at.
Ummm this is all silly. Like um what??? And the self park stopped far from the garage the first time because you ended up being too far from the car. You should read what the feature is before testing it and saying it doesnt work. You need to be within a specific proximity of the car it just doesn't work with u standing alllll the over there and the car moving away from u. Its a safety feature. And the car also only travels a certain distance. Once that distance is met it will go no further . Its not a RC car. This feature is only for pulling in and out of a garage or tight spot. Not to send your car all the way down the driveway ... not what its for.. and it always works if all the parameters are met... I should know I use it every single day and it never not works or glitches because i know how to use it.
Im considering buying a GV70 and have to admit that the screen placement is a bit of a pre buyer gripe for me as well. My guess is that was done purposely to deter people from getting distracted with touching and swiping through screen inputs while driving.Youre probably less likely to do that if you can't reach it while driving and I would imagine using that dial isn't as enticing so you'll just save the screen inputs for when you're at a stop.
The brakes squeeling at 5:12 ... is that normal for this model? That would be the most irritating thing ever. My old Honda Accord used to squeel like that in stop-start traffic..
Yeah, I think you were struggling to find complaints because none of those really were legitimate complaints or at least they were very minor. But I guess if you could take it in a pebble beach, sort of ways, you may have a point.
Dude, what planet do you have to live on to say this looks like a GV80. That's complete and pure insanity. My blood pressure has gone up looking at bits and pieces of this video. Making sure the algorithm never directs me here again...utter fail.
I have owned a Genesis GV70 for a year now. Mine is one of the first off the production line. No disrespect but you have no idea what you are talking about. Your first complain is about real leather, and you compared it by feeling the padding? Your second complaint is about the infotainment screen. In fact if it was lower that would make is less safe. Your third complaint is about the engine noise which I agree with. However the fourth complaint regarding the self park is user error. It never glitches(at least for me)and always works flawlessly. The self park is easy to use and stops when an object is inhibiting the path. Your final comment was on the design. Personally I paused and laughed when you said "this looks like any other genesis." Like bro, its made by Genesis...
They're not wanting you to drive and use the touchscreen at the same time. If you're driving and need access to the info system is why they made the knob.
Your complaints are silly, I own a GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige and just hit six months. I love the GV770, owned BMW and Jaguar in the past, the Genesis more than holds its own. Mileage is my only complaint. You can get rated city/highway mileage if you behave, and drive like to want to max mileage, but the GV70 has sport/sport+ modes and it wants to play. I would buy it again in a heartbeat...........
Have anyone noticed the hood on the GV70s? I noticed it is not flush with the quarter panel. To my surprise, there is a lot of chatter in several different forums on the subject. Maybe it is meant to be that way for aesthetics. Some have taken it back to the dealers and they have agreed to adjust it; some have had no luck. I visited Genesis dealerships and they all look that way, but some more pronounced than others; perhaps I'm being OCD. Any thoughts?
Seeing the video, except for the first one I don't agree with your rest of the points. Well its still your point of view and please continue to make videos.
Hi, yes I totally agreed with you on the information screen is too far away from the driver. Your suggested location is where it should be........hopefully the next refresh will move the screen closer.
your kinda right it is a stupid complaint about nappa leather here on here but kinda like not here- its how they stretch it - thats a dumb complaint imho. dumb complaint about screen too far too- its designed not to be touched unless ur parked - use the wheel- so complaint is silly. 3rd complaint about noise its not a m4. we get that. you should have gotten the 3.5t for more sound. silly complaints
Leather is leather, your first point is about padding, are you complaining about padding. The touch screen is obvious for markets where driving and touching don't mix, engine sound is valid but the interior engine sound is artificially generated, once again the balance with luxury and sport but it could be better, send park is always bad in every car I've had and never worth the hassle, it's handy to pull out of a tight stall and that's it, but it's a feature others don't have. #5 is completely 100% wrong, everyone notices this car because of the styling. It looks nothing like a GV80, it's a click bait compliant. If you want some real issues, let's talk no unlock sensors on the rear doors and how poorly the front sensors work, let's talk the limits customization of the interior colors on the 3.5 and screen, even customizing the background images, there digital dash could be a bit sportier in sport mode, others?
feel like your list should be different. the worst thing by far is the purchasing process. i tried several times to get a gv70 and the experience at hyundai dealers where terrible... i've always had korean cars as a korean myself but just cant do it anymore. i wanted it over glc 43 due to the price difference but man am i glad about how things turned out. i dont think most things on your list is a big complaint but to me sound is absolutely critical in a performance oriented vehicle.
It is Napa leather, just it is 2mm thick. Infotainment should be lowered - let's see what they do for the 2024 model. Engine sound is not an issue for me - I'd buy a mustang if engine sound was my priority. The park assist is gimmicky and imperfect in all vehicles. Look is subjective - I find it great. My only real gripe is that they should have made the 2.5T mild hybrid and keep the 3.5T for the fun-loving enthusiasts.
Ok, No1, Have you ever done any Upholstry work? The way you manipulate the material and the surfaces underneath effect the way it appears. The smaller pieces most likely are just glues to the door card. No2, the Infotainment System. The dial on the dash is meant to be used while your driving, and makes sense from a Safety stance. Your attention is supposed to be on the road Not on a touch panel.No3, first of all it's a V6. You mention the Raptor, they much more room under the chassis for exhaust, the length of the exhaust tubes the Diameter, whether it's got a X-Pipe in-line and so on, there are so many ways to build an exhaust system and get different levels of sound from them. Genesis is a Luxury Sports Vehicle, Hint, Hint LUXURY? they're going to keep the sound to a minimum, and like I said, it's a V6. No4, It worked like its supposed to when you demonstrated it. Sounds like your expecting more out off a system that, on the surface, moves the vehicle forward and back. No6, Your yourself said the GV70 is Beautiful, I agree, and have been waiting for the right combination to arrive from a couple of Dealerships in my area, to enter into the Genesis family. Everybody has a right to their own opinion. there is no right of wrong on these issues, but you may want to do a little more research about "How and Why" the Engineers of a vehicle designed it. There are too many unknowns that you didn't address. There ya go!
Seems very petty to me that you complain about some areas that MAY not be leather covered. All the competitive Germans just have moulded plastic dashboards and consoles with hard scratchy plastics. The GV70 is at least 2 levels of interior ambience compared to their competitors.
This was the most annoying video to watch. There is padding under the leather on the dash and certain points. Other points just hear later over maybe plastic or metal. It’s the same leather🤦🏾♂️ The NOB is easier to use than reaching up and crashing your car. You need to be close to the car to park it so you don’t crack it. Oh no my car looks too much like some of the best cars in the world.. ohhh nooo🤨 And the engine sound…. It’s trying to be at a balance between sporty and luxury. So you don’t get too much of either which you sold have already known. You want more sound get a custom exhaust. Just say you just wanted to make a video that day instead of coming up with nonsense
And so does every other car that looks like all the other cars thier brand makes. Thats the point. So you can see it and know its a genesis .. u want it to look like toyota? It takes a car person to differentiate every single car...
Genesis does not claim the dash and doors are covered in Nappa leather. The seating surfaces are the only things covered in Nappa leather. You're not going to find any car except the Ultra Luxury class cars (Bentley/Rolls) that will actually put real leather on the dashboard and doors. I had to stop watching your video after 2 minutes. You aren't a "car guy," are you?
If you didn't care for the Genesis, I would like to see how you have rated the horse and buggy, I mean dealing with handling the reigns and leaders and the horse heading the wrong way.
thankfully I only wasted 4 minutes watching your video. Your complaints are beyond silly. you have a beautiful car ...Enjoy it and stop making useless videos
This is the most unnecessary review I've seen of this car. Nitpicking at best. The interior and exterior complaints are just stupid. You see the interior and exterior before buying. If you don't like it, don't buy it. This dude made a review out of nothing, just for views.
You're complaining about nothing , you have a nice vehicle enjoy it.
Amen, what a moaner.
Dont get offended he's just doing it for the views

1. Wired car play
2. Carplay or android screen is shrunk for no reason

You should not want to touch the media console while driving. It's an great safety feature engineered.
Wait, why is it snowing in California??
Seems very petty to me that you complain about some areas that MAY not be leather covered. All the competitive Germans just have moulded plastic dashboards and consoles with hard scratchy plastics. The GV70 is at least 2 levels of interior ambience compared to their competitors.
I disagree it’s legit a hyundai
All complaints are very subjective to you. I love all the things you complained about.
That’s it I’m buying a Pontiac, Bonnieville then.
I this was gonna be nitpicking. Cause if this is the worst than this car is morethan worth the price
This was the most annoying video to watch. There is padding under the leather on the dash and certain points. Other points just hear later over maybe plastic or metal. It’s the same leather🤦🏾♂️
The NOB is easier to use than reaching up and crashing your car.
You need to be close to the car to park it so you don’t crack it.
Oh no my car looks too much like some of the best cars in the world.. ohhh nooo🤨
And the engine sound…. It’s trying to be at a balance between sporty and luxury. So you don’t get too much of either which you sold have already known. You want more sound get a custom exhaust.
Just say you just wanted to make a video that day instead of coming up with nonsense
No distinction between the GV70 and GV 80-
You are kidding right?
And so does every other car that looks like all the other cars thier brand makes. Thats the point. So you can see it and know its a genesis .. u want it to look like toyota? It takes a car person to differentiate every single car...
Didn’t you drive it before you bought it. It probably sounds like a 3.5 V6 with a good exhaust should. I think your winging about nothing.
Nothing here. Your complaints are all frivolous and nitpicky.
Seriously Ben?? This is what you complain about?
What a waste of time this review was. I have no complaints with my purchase and highly recommend this car.
Complaining about a whole bunch of nothing. Enjoy your unbelievable car, man! I have one and I know what I’m talking about!
If you didn't care for the Genesis, I would like to see how you have rated the horse and buggy, I mean dealing with handling the reigns and leaders and the horse heading the wrong way.
So you’re nitpicking..gotcha
Talk about grasping to find fault.......sheesh.
You paid 20k less than the competition. You're just whining.
Comparing a genesis gv70 to a raptor exhaust 😒😒 you must not be a car guy
Your complaints are rubbish. You shouldn't be using the touch screen while driving.
1st World problems....oh the horror. And I agree, they all are silly complaints.
The way this guy is complaining, looks more like a promotion for GV70 :)
You need to talk faster.
Im so 🌽fused about this review
thankfully I only wasted 4 minutes watching your video. Your complaints are beyond silly. you have a beautiful car ...Enjoy it and stop making useless videos
That's being persnickety
Yeah, this is so annoyingly nit-picky, it'll make me less likely to view other reviews. This ain't it.
You’re complaining about your Genesis looking like a Bentley? 🤦🏻♂️ 5 completely non-issues.
Thanks for wasting my time guy.
Silly complaints and I don't own GV70
Very silly complaints..
This is the most unnecessary review I've seen of this car. Nitpicking at best. The interior and exterior complaints are just stupid. You see the interior and exterior before buying. If you don't like it, don't buy it. This dude made a review out of nothing, just for views.
C’mon now…really?
You need a hobby or a hug or something.
You whiner... lol
Get off the adderall !
Caucasian complaints 😂
Lol
Total nonsense.
