Love the GV70 - I just do. As a PRO detailer I can tell you one thing - they were right about the trim at Genesis. Those automatic carwashes can totally destroy chrome trim wheels and much more. If you have such car - get it protected (like with Nano graphene coatings from Artdeshine) by really good detailer and just maintain it properly. It will keep looking stunning for years to come!
I have a gv 70 3.5t with the dark metal trim and it started to get a haze layer over it after hand washes and clay wax, I thought it was just residue, but turns out it was a known issue with genesis and the dealer replaced it all. The problem was with the metal trim’s plastic protector adhesive from the factory and when it sat in sunlight and loading lots in Los Angeles, they only remove the protective film at the dealers, and there wouldn’t be any immediate visual issues or residue until months later. They offer a two step process at the dealer here in la, they attempt to clean it with a spray that removes alittle of the residue but it also could remove the dark metal color, after that cleaning is not satisfactory, they order replacement trim and change it all out and it looks brand new again. It’s been 4 months since I got the metal door trim replaced and it’s looking great.
My wife has this exact car color and all and I use adams polish products for everything and ours never went into a auto wash and been graphene coated from day one and our trim faded bad and had to be replaced. Other then that it's been flawless love the car.
I had a 96 Chevy Tahoe 4-door and had the same problems with the chrome trim on the wheel wells. Chevrolet replaced them all (the car wash killed the chrome). You'd think that the factories would have this issue under control by now!

This review was very helpful to me. I have a 2010 Mercedes ML350 that I love, but time is catching up with it and I'm doing research for its replacement. I'm disappointed by so many manufacturers and their "sticking to the what we've always done" attitude towards factory warranties. These vehicles aren't cheap to work on and getting the most warranty possible is a big deal to me. Both of my children drive Hyundais so I looked at the Genesis lineup and the GV70 is looking like it could be my next car.

So i just received my genesis gv70 3.5 v6 have had it for 3 weeks and i absolutely love it i gave it to my uncle to try for a week and he just came back home with a certified 2022 😂 that’s how much he liked mine
Buying one today and watched this to get info on which warranties may be relevant. Probably going to get the tire/wheels package as I live in Chicago and drive through Michigan a ton to be safe, otherwise I believe they even upped the warranty length/miles that come standard since this video was released. Very excited and thrilled to hear it passed your tests, one of the reasons I decided on this instead of another luxury model was the 10/10 you gave it 3 years in a row!
Clear coat has been an issue across the entire Hyundai / Genesis line. Our 2020 Palisade shed clearcoat on the wheels horribly. They replaced our wheels under warranty but heard others that were denied. Our 2022 Calligraphy is no better and our friends GV80 is experiencing the same issues.
From above : "As a PRO detailer I can tell you one thing - they were right about the trim at Genesis. Those automatic carwashes can totally destroy chrome trim wheels and much more" aka clear coat, wheels :-). Manual wash only or carwash and or power sprayer?

@ericbinder2165 Here's some food for thought. What is the average lifespan of a car in your driveway? Notice I said your driveway. The average American "buys" a new car (often leases) every 3 to 5 years. Yep, you heard correctly. Three to five years. That's it. The fairytale concept that a car should last you 20 years and 250,000 miles is really a decades old argument. I mean we're talking 90s when it was extremely important to buy a reliable car. It's difficult to find a bad modern car. Sure people still get stuck with a lemon here n there. But you have the lemon law, and you have manufacturer warranties for non critical issues. Heck, I had to take in my 2018 BMW after 300 miles for an alignment. And a rattling exhaust at 1000 miles. Warranty is a beautiful thing. And also, yes. I do see old hyundais and kias where I live. Just not as many as old Hondas and toyotas because guess what, hyundai wasn't selling quite as much back then. It's just simple math.
@@estuardogutierrez9041New hyundais and kias are above your class now buddy. while ppl like you were too busy mocking them, they've moved on. now, they don't market to you. they market more towards the $50,000+ category. Stick with your preowned corolla.
I chose the 2023 2.5T advanced trim in Cardiff green exterior / vanilla interior as the sweet spot in value last December ($52k). That trim had all of my must haves and most wants. 300hp is more than enough oomph and torque for my needs driving in city traffic (0-60 in around 5.6 seconds). I note the 2024 advanced trim will no longer come with ventilated front seats, lexicon sound system and remote park assist ! Only 5k miles so far but extremely happy owner. I agree not having wireless CarPlay seems strange for the model with all the rest of the tech implemented.
The rumor I heard is it's a requirement for AA/Carplay to default to its own navigation when clicking a navigation button. Hyundai refuses to do this so they only offer wireless carplay on models without navigation available. Not sure if true, but does seem to check out.
Infiniti’s FX45 was a show-stopper when it came out in 2003. Infiniti has lost that “pizzaz” in recent years. Just got rid (yes, that is the right word) of my 2023 QX55 and my Genesis GV70 arrives in 2 days. Hope Genesis does not fall into the Infiniti trap by failing to innovate and thinking they know better than there customers regarding tech integration and design.
I learned recently that Hyundai / Genesis white paint colors use an additional coat versus non white colors which is why they cost more. Owning an Atlas White Ioniq 5 I do think it is a nice, “bright” white.
My wife has a GV70 and I think I like it more than she does. I am thinking about getting the electrified GV70 and lowering it to get a shooting brake kind of look.

I would go to a Hyundai dealer. I have decided not to buy a Genesis because the Hyundai dealer where I intend to move to won't touch Genesis cars due to problems with the parent company. Going to a local Hyundai dealer is better than having no local support at all.

What is it with you people and the dealers Genesis as a car company is only 8 years old How many dealerships did Mercedes Benz and BMW have after only 8 years I think for only being 8 years old that car company is amazing
I own a BMW and just hate to go to any dealer whatsoever. You just drop off your car and wait. What else you expect? Well, German dealers have nicer couches. That's all.
Just stumbled across this video. I have a G70 3.3T and it's in for some recall work. They gave me a brand new GV70 as a loaner. As far as Genesis dealer service goes I think it's hit or miss. I happen to be in a fairly urban area so we have a good stand aloneGenesis dealer nearby. So far they have been great. For the recall they sent someone to my house to get my car and left the loaner with me. That's really amazing service. After having driven these two genesis models, I think I am officially a convert. I have liked the german cars in the past. I had a GTI and a 335. I don't think I would go back to BMW.
I had some paint quality issues on my 2022 Genesis GV70 Barossa Burgundy colour. The paint and clear coat on these cars is extremely thin. It started chipping and rubbing off around the door edges and the doors within only a few months of ownership. The dealership and Genesis Canada refused to cover that under the paint warranty saying it’s a wear tear which I didn’t agree with at all. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing the paint chipping/rubbing off issues on their Genesis vehicles or it was just me.
Great job on covering the GV70. I believe Genesis is better off being a perceived 2nd best image car company . Bang for the buck is king in my world they are pushing all the right buttons and offering a unique line up and i find myself doing a double take on there styling. 😊
Love my 2022 GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige (Uyuni white over red/charcoal), November will be two years and I would buy it again. it's garaged and I use Adam's Advanced Graphene Ceramic spray every 4 months, the trim gets graphene too and it looks brand new.
With respect to the chrome trim getting water spots off it there is a solution. The dealer telling you it is car washes is just plain stupid. We have a GV70 and had this issue. I can assure you that it has been hand washed from day one. Mother's chrome polish cleans it right up. It requires a decent amount of elbow grease, but our trim looks brand new. I have seen multiple reports on the forum that suggest Brasso also works well. It is annoying, but it is less effort than fighting with a dealer. I find the paint quality to be very good too. We love the Saville Silver.
at this price range for such a luxury Vehicle. the clear coat wheels issue is very unacceptable. if this was me. getting myself into debt due to buying this Vehicle. and someone tells me that chemicals during washing the Vehicle are the cause. they still have to fix that. Am I supposed to not wash my car? just because they decided to use cheap paint instead of heavy-duty paint? thank you for this review ... this is a kind useful review. anything new looks good also the chrome trim that been a problem in the previous Genesis. the dark copper color is as good as it looks but it won't last and most people get it fixed under warranty. which is kind of annoying. simple cosmetic trim like that can't handle the elements !! again at the price you pay, that shouldn't be happening.
One of your gripes has been adressed: As of July 2024, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available through a simple infotainment update (Can be done at the dealership or from the comfort of your home with a PC downtown to a USB key for a manual update).
We purchased one for my wife. A 23 Sport prestige 3.5. Same color in Alta White. It's fantastic. We had to do the LSD actuator recall, but the really the only probably with the car is lack of wireless carplay.
@@timw2083 Great man! No issues and we flog the car. Its fun to hoon in, handles well for its weight. If you buy it new, as we did, they come pick the car up/drop off a loaner, fix it and then return. Took them 1 day to replace the actuator. You can drive the car before replacement you just get the warming of "Check limited slip differential". They will come grab the car if you are within a radius of 25 miles. I'd recommend the 3.5 Sport prestige for sure. His comments regarding the chrome/wheels are true. Make sure you don't take the car through any auto-washes, we only hand wash and use good chemicals that aren't acidic. Any other questions feel free to ask! I also did our first oil change, we have clocked about 11k on it since November.
I own a 2022 GV70 Sport Prestige 3.5TT. 95% of the time, I love it. 375hp really gives you the acceleration to merge with confidence & the bells & whistles are great. I too got 40k on the original tires (and I just put the same brand tires back on it). I’ve got curb rash from meeting the curb a couple of times- it’s ugly but the rims really seek out the curb when parking. I have the same window trim oxidation- I guess I need to hit up Genesis about replacing it. The major (MAJOR) downfall of Genesis as a brand is the pitiful customer service at the dealerships. From trying over the concierge service for maintenance to the lack of them knowing how to work on the vehicle (and with a luxury owner’s expectations) due to 99% of all Genesis dealerships being an afterthought at a Hyundai dealership. I fear this is my first (and last) adventure with a Korean supercar. 😢
Great video, the car seems like great value for what it is. I still don't understand not having wireless carplay though when the Hyundai Venue has it in its mid trim lol.
On their smaller 7 and 8 inch older tech screens yes. On their new 12inch screens not currently. They are developing a OTA update to be applied "by 2024" according to Hyundai.
The rumor I heard is AA/Carplay requires the physical navigation button to go to carplay navigation when connected. Hyundai refuses to do this so they only put in wireless on models without navigation available. Is it true? no idea but it makes more sense than them literally not caring to do it.
I purchased CrossClimate 2’s on my 2014 Audi Q5. I will NEVER use anything less EVER again. They were perfect for any weather conditions I encountered along the East coast!!! Highly recommended
Great review. I don’t think the fade on the wheels and door trim is covered under warranty. At least that’s what Kia said about my 2020 Stinger. It looks like the same materials and I’ve seen may similar comments in some forums. Do you know for sure if those items are covered under the warranty because I’ve been considering getting one of these.
It's actually a tarnishing that happens, mainly on the dark chrome trim. And yes, they do replace it. But it probably just happens again! I have the dark chrome and haven't had any problems, but I also have ceramic coating...
It happened to my 2022 G70’s dark chrome window trim started at around 5k miles. I never took it through a car wash and always washed it carefully. Genesis replaced it under warranty. There’s a service bulletin for it.
@@hugdeath929 the not great part is that it took 7 months with countless screw-ups by the dealership. Other issues I’m having are still unresolved and corporate is ghosting me
The GV70 is pretty great, but the service of the brand can be terrible. The Santa Monica dealership is the worst experience I have ever had with any brand in the last 20 years. They NEVER call you back reliably (I have always had to call multiple times to even just get an appointment), they NEVER confirm you will get a loaner ahead of the time, and the service valet is wrongly advertised by Genesis: The Genesis website says something like 'pick up your car wherever', but the fine print from the dealer limits this. The dealer and Genesis North America have different overlapping maintenance schedules that make you call them to ask 'ok, another maintenance alarm, do I NOW have to come)?' and any complaints about the dealership, Genesis North America brushes off with 'those are all franchises, we can't do anything'. So yes, the car is nice, the interior is great, but if you ever need ANYTHING from the dealership or the company, you may be out of luck. I will sell mine before the warranty is up, I'm sick and tired of dealing with an incompetent team.
Thx L! My 2020 stinger "black chrome" trim at the top of the greenhouse has oxidized and I will be bringing it up at my next service... Really just plastic covered bright work...and the margins at the sunroof have oxidized just like our 17 Optima sxl. Nice suv!
I'll admit i had mixed feelings on the GV 70's styling inside and out when it first debuted, but now it's grown on me. Gotta say that interior is actually nice, almost alfa romeo-esque in it's style there. I'd happily rank this alongside the BMW x3 and Mercedes GLC as good midsize luxury SUVs for professionals.
Ive been through BMW (1 year) , MINI (3 Years) LEXUS (10 years), currently on Mercedes (2 years) and I recently had the G80 for a rental and was completely blown away. Im in the process of selling my Mercedes and buying the Genesis. I just dont know which model yet!!!!! lol. G80 GV70 or GV80. My Mercedes has been the worst experience ive had with a luxury vehicle company. In CA if you buy Mercedes dont buy from the company itself buy from a private mercedes dealership. BMW is way more fun to drive but lacks that luxury comfort. IMO. Lexus was the best for me so far in terms of reliability and comfort. Mini (subjectively not luxury but owned by BMW) was the most durable. I drove that thing threw the snow, up mountains, and put 80K miles on it in a year and aside from some plastic parts wearing down the car never had any major issues. Im very excited to finally get the genesis!!!
I found the six to be a beast that was pretty rough around the edges; harsher ride, too much for a daily driver. No judgement but had I gotten one it would have the four which was actually plenty fast.
I have the same exact car but in Saville silver. Just about to hit 20,000 miles and still love it. I have the cosmetic window trim blemishes, but only on the driver side. Would these be covered under warranty? I’ve read conflicting opinions online. I plan on bringing it up with my local dealer, but curious if others have dealt with the issue already.
That should be covered for a luxury brand. I've had items like that fixed by Cadillac no questions asked. Bumper to bumper means that, it's all covered. The trim isn't a wear item.
@@cormaro13 My G80 has had the same problem since I bought it new in 2019. It's never seen an automatic car wash. I only hand wash with a Ph balanced soap. So it's not just automatic car washes. This is truly something that is on the manufacturer. But I am still very impressed with my Genesis, so I haven't had to complain about this at all.
I don't buy the wheel excuse either. Dealerships always try to blame something else first to make you pay more for something that should be covered. I would have said, "well, I hand wash my cars all the time, so that's a lie. Nice try."
I feel the same way. The tech in the GV70 could win me over but just the driving dynamics of the Stelvio alone makes it competitive, can’t go wrong with either one. Both exteriors are attractive also.
@@sunnysaenngarm5375 True the tech in the GV70 is incredible so is the driving dynamic. Keep in mind Genesis is extremely reliable. It’s also a well known fact the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is unreliable with lots of issues that will have you missing that driving dynamic as repairs are made at absorbent cost 💲
The trim and clearcoat on the wheels issue is more than enough to keep this out of my next SUV choices. I will just buy a Lexus I guess although I think it is gorgeous. The fact that it slowed down as the miles rolled up is not a good sign either.
HEY ! Could you Please let us Know if the investment of the Michelin Cross Climate, had really "PAID Off" in Michigan winters, w/this vehicle ??? And how you believe it would have done w/o the UpGrade! As well as, did you notice a even better handling during the spring/summer & wet season? I am considering a GV80, and I had studied the Cross Climate extensively. Obviously, that’s a Significant Splurge on the 22 inch tires (current models) or any new tires - on a new car, or relatively new (2 - 3 yrs) w/obviously respectable tires on it already. Getting the extra safety & control, especially at highway speeds & in winter is very important to me - if it’s true. Thanks! USMC Disabled Vet
Genesis has their designs down and functions. However, as previous 2nd generation Genesis sedan owner I can tell you that although I did not have a major issue, there were several annoying issues such as wind noise sneaking in from one of the doors (extremely hard to identify the source), some sort of rubbing noise every time I drove over unpaved road, and parking sensor randomly coming on and off. It was beyond annoying after a year so I traded it in for something else.
Thanks for the video. You mentioned something similar to a "smooth" ride, yet in one part of the video it looked like the car was shaking you like a paint can mixer. I find it hard to believe that 21" rims could be comfortable on midwest roads, which is why I'm super disappointed with Genesis' decisions to force 21" rims on 2024 models for people who want premium radio and ventilated seats. Wish I could have gotten a 2023 model.
What cellular receivers did they use? Their early models used the 3g receivers (slated to be out of service within 3 years), a major cost-cutting measure which led to ALL connected functionality ending for Genesis owners like myself overnight. No remote start, vehicle safety monitoring, maintenance monitoring and diagnostics, or anything through the Genesis apps on the "S-class competitor" G90. Have been massively disappointed in my Genesis - front panel had to be stripped and re-painted as paint was just falling off of one panel, transmission is ripping itself apart thanks to their smart cruise control and overactive forward collision's false emergency stops, slow and glitchy UI, terrible lane keep assist which frequently loses lines on the road and turns off, undercarriage is coming off, I'm 6'0" and it is NOT a comfortable fit at this height. There are bells and whistles, but like a bmw I'd recommend 3-5 year leasing over buying.
I literally just bought mine today. GV70 2025 2.5. 50.4K. Driving home I noticed the transmission slips a little bit to red lights and starting back. Doesn’t seem normal. Idk if “slipping” is the term, but it just felt off.
I’m pretty confident that Genesis would cover the trim and wheel repair under warranty. I had some roof trim replaced and broken door handle and a drivers side power mirror replaced on my Stinger under warranty with zero problems from the dealer.
wow I'm disappointed by the peeling on the wheels. I've noticed the dark chrome trim surrounds along the windows on hyundai vehicles doing something similar. Luckily it doesn't peal it just becomes kinda of duller? idk. But the wheel thing sucks.
Well, to be the only negative voice in the comments - surely someone has to be - I was lucky enough to get a 2021 Lexus IS350 and a Genesis 2021 GV70 within months of each other as part of a work/salary sacrifice and I still have both of them in December 2024. What I've noticed is that the bling factor of the Genesis has faded/dulled much more obviously than the Lexus - the leather is starting to get shiny, the touch points look more tired, the seat bolsters look more faded and worn etc. For me, I'll let the Genny go at the end of its lease but I'll be keeping the Lexus. Both are great, but one is a keeper, one is not.
Why compare this to a Porsche Macan? The macan is just an Audi q5 with a different suspension. I'm looking at GV70, Audi Q5, Macan, MBZ GLC, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-50, Hyundai Tucson & Santa Fe, RX500 and really for 60K it's hard to beat this vehicle. The Macan GTS is awesome for a compromise: too low for off road, too high for cornering. This seems to allow light off roading. Check out Tom Voelk putting this car to the test off road.

We've had our GV70 2.5T for about a year. The car is still amazing.
Nice car but the G90 is on another level. I have had the GV70 as a loaner but I’m already missing my G90

@@was75872 is not the best if you want more punch go for the 3.5T. But at the same time it has enough power to merge you on to the free way and I read somewhere 0-60 is like 5.9 secs . That ain’t bad for an SUV.
Wonder if acid rain is a contributing factor?
@@dothedishes3427 It rains on other brands and they don't seem to suffer the same fate.
It’s a shame that’s even happening on genesis vehicles. If the genesis cars have the same poor paint quality as my Elantra I will not buy one

Nice video! Genesis really nailed the design on GV70 IMHO. Better than other brands in this segment.
In my 3 months of ownership of this vehicle I've never confused the gear shift with the screen controller 🤣🤣 awesome car to own though
Genni doesn’t miss. Bought the ‘23 3.3t g70 in March and I love it
This is the kind of impact Lexus had at its inception. Exciting to see the rise of Genesis.
It should've been pearl of they're gonna charge you more for it. Atlas white is basic while the Ioniq 6 got the nicer pearl paint.
Is this a new thing? I’ve always been weary of white Hyundai/Kia products due to seeing them flake and peel quite often as they age.
@@BeesonsCars That's a good question and I don't know the answer.

Thanks for the driving review. I am considering one of these when I buy in April.
The g70 has been my dream car since it's introduction
Problem with Genesis is lack of dealers. Luxury car buyers don’t want to go to Hyundai dealer for service, no chance.
I would go to a Hyundai dealer. I have decided not to buy a Genesis because the Hyundai dealer where I intend to move to won't touch Genesis cars due to problems with the parent company. Going to a local Hyundai dealer is better than having no local support at all.
Not all luxury car buyers have an elitist attitude like that.
@@isamu982 Most people that buy luxury expect to be pampered and get great service. If you think one buys luxury and is ok getting shitty service at Hyundai dealer, you are not being real.
That's all.
Could the 0-60 times being slower caused by 40,000 miles of tire tread wear
I reckon it's misuse on your part
I'm expecting the same thing on my passenger door, and my chrome outline of the front grill is peeling/bubbling.
@@poppyflower9003 Any luck with the warranty?
Great job on covering the GV70.
I believe Genesis is better off being a perceived 2nd best image car company .
Bang for the buck is king in my world they are pushing all the right buttons and offering a unique line up and i find myself doing a double take on there styling. 😊
Love my 2022 GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige (Uyuni white over red/charcoal), November will be two years and I would buy it again. it's garaged and I use Adam's Advanced Graphene Ceramic spray every 4 months, the trim gets graphene too and it looks brand new.
The biggest problem I had with my 2022 GV70 is that two tires blew out within 4 months. The 21inch wheels don’t do great with potholes!
I don't think any car or truck with 21" wheels will survive potholes without repercussions.
Blew one on a smaller Sedan tire. Darn potholes!!!!
Man, prices are so high for vehicles. Great revue.
Yes Carlos is back, thank God.
So far solid after 37k, love the ride and comfort!
at this price range for such a luxury Vehicle. the clear coat wheels issue is very unacceptable. if this was me. getting myself into debt due to buying this Vehicle. and someone tells me that chemicals during washing the Vehicle are the cause. they still have to fix that.
We had to do the LSD actuator recall, but the really the only probably with the car is lack of wireless carplay.
buy a wireless adapter for carplay? problem solved!
@@RiasatAbir Realize we can buy one, just saying at this level of car I am surprised that one feature was missing. Other than that, car is great.
How was it after the eLSD actuator replacement? This is the main concern I have about the Sport Prestige.
Your genesis dispenses LSD? Psychedelic! 😂
This car constantly grows on me... the only thing I would change is reversing the colour - black exterior with white (or very light beige) interior...
Wireless CarPlay is a must!
Great video!
You mentioned putting Michelin Crossclimate 2s on the vehicle. May I ask how those tires were on the GV70? Were you happy with them?
I purchased CrossClimate 2’s on my 2014 Audi Q5. I will NEVER use anything less EVER again. They were perfect for any weather conditions I encountered along the East coast!!! Highly recommended
I put them on a 18". Ride well and good for the winter as well.
The only problem with my '20 G90 is that my wife keeps stealing it at every opportunity

Such a great car!! love this beauty!
I found the six to be a beast that was pretty rough around the edges; harsher ride, too much for a daily driver. No judgement but had I gotten one it would have the four which was actually plenty fast.
Running ANY car through an automatic car wash is the worst thing you can do.
please do long term comparisons. More content and consumer advice never hurts. Long Term Genesis GV70 vs Acura RDX.
I prefer when tests are done on the non-sport package version because I like performance comparisons with the nicer ride.
Best looking midsize SUV on the road. Really want to test drive one, but I'm afraid I'll want one
No that's not covered by the warranty, it's called stop going thru the automatic car washes and u won't get that lol
Window trim was fading strangely on my car and Audi fixed it immediately. I would assume Genesis will do the same.
I don't buy the wheel excuse either. Dealerships always try to blame something else first to make you pay more for something that should be covered. I would have said, "well, I hand wash my cars all the time, so that's a lie. Nice try."

Car makers in general need to put more sidewall back on the cars.
That shake might be from the camera or camera mount rather than the car itself.
Some owners reported: dead battery if not driven for a few days. True?
Why don't you see if Hyundai will replace wheels and trim? As a potential buyer, I would like to know.
Genesis 🔥🔥🔥
I thinking of getting a used GV70.
Did anything break? I am hearing almost every single one of these is going back to shop multiple times just in the 1st year for repairs.
I literally just bought mine today. GV70 2025 2.5. 50.4K.
Driving home I noticed the transmission slips a little bit to red lights and starting back. Doesn’t seem normal. Idk if “slipping” is the term, but it just felt off.
