A half way loaded Macan in the US is in the high 80k range. Fully loaded GLC here can tap 80k and you might get vented seats. The M340i and the SQ5 are the only side by side here. The Audi looks a bit dated and not that special. The BMW is the only other I considered before getting my GV70 a month ago. I love the BMW motor but the Genesis is far better inside and out as far as looks and features..
Canadian reviewers are getting more clicks on this vehicle because press release has not happened yet in the US and the car has been out for over a month here.
The diamond pattern on the grill and wheels is Ok, but they should lose it on the rear bumper facia. That would look good if they did the whole thing in the smoked chrome, but it would probably add to the cost.
How about talking about how it actually drives?! They are called Suvs but so often we discount the "S" for sportiness. Many of us have no choice but to get an SUV but are still very much driving enthusiasts who want an engaging drive.
I love the GV 70 but am concerned about the lack of dealer network. I live in Muskoka so the closest dealership is almost 2 hrs away. Yes they offer valet service but what does that mean??? Do they bring a flat bed? Do they just drive it back and forth?? So they are going to put 4 or 5 hundred Km on my vehicle to change the oil?? And how long does it take?? How hard is it to book an appointment??
If you’re looking for a real car aficionado’s channel, this isn’t it. None of the more serious reviewers spend video-time listing feature information of the different models that one can easily find on the manufacturer’s website.
@@legozxx6655 Even Alex on Autos, for all his thoroughness, basically tells us about every warning light - it’s like he’s memorized the owner’s manual. My top choices are Driven Car Reviews (Tom Voelk) and Throttle House. Both of those are *drivers* channels, with great videography too.
@@renegadepuppy Yes, I appreciate SavageGeese too. Is Micah still on KBB? I used to find the winks at the camera and the dance moves with which he’d punctuate his sentences, a bit tiresome, or possibly just for an audience other than myself.
the pricing these reviewers used to compare to the X3 and Macan was wrong. GV70 Sport + is 75,500 while the equivalent GLC 43AMG, X3 40iM and Macan GTS are 86000 to 95000.
It's a bit misleading to say the GV70 is more expensive than the German competition. If you compare comparably equipped models, that's certainly not true! The BMW is 84k, the Benz is 87k and the Porsche is over 100k. The fully loaded GV70 is 75k. Cheaper than we pay in Korea!
@@IKhanNot - I'm simply ignorant about this: do the Germans lease the upper trim models with 6 cylinder engines at aggressive prices, or are the good prices only on base models?
@@jsfbay1 The bulk of the deals are on base models like a BMW X3 30i that's sensibly loaded but they do have good end of the month deals on high end models.
I would never look at the “starting base price” of the BMWs. They have them listed artificially low for just this type of comparison. It’s very bait-and-switch. I would strongly recommend building your BMW online to see the true sticker price. It’s like, “Oh, you want floor mats? That will be $400 extra.” A slight exaggeration, but the base model is usually very stripped down.
The Germans also don't have a lot of safety features standard. They can tag on $5,000 in just safety and technology features that come standard Hyundai/Genesis
Perhaps, but I hope not. Bought my GV70 3.5T sports prestige two days ago from Jim Ellis of Atlanta (outstanding experience there). Apparently, #1 volume Hyundai/Genesis dealer in US. Plus, *some* dealers will offer *lifetime* drivetrain warranty at *no addtl charge*. No marketing here, just giving credit where credit is due. However, other dealerships were asking for multiple surcharges (+$5k over MSRP...uh, no thanks lol; ceramic coating for +$2.5k, that’s a no as well). I feel like the US Genesis dealerships are doing a great disservice to Genesis corporate... they’re still turning a profit at MSRP. They should be aiming to *make it easier* to lure people away from Audi/BMW/Mercedes. My last car was an Audi S5.
@@RLTtizME have to troll Asian products and European always? Your knowledge about cars and plane is PATHETIC and RUBBISH! Genesis is a new brand, kiddo American cars are RUBBISH and SHITE compared to Japanese, Korean and european 😂😂😂😆xD
Let’s face it: most of the German rival cars on the street are leased base models. So Genesis should just subsidize leases and flood the market with low monthly payment/higher equipment.
They used to do that. I had the previous gen 2015 G80 when it first came out and was still badged as a Hyundai for a year before Genesis came into being and got an amazing lease on it. Over the past few years though, Genesis leases have gotten way more expensive because they reflect more accurate residual values now rather than the inflated ones they had when I leased mine.
Florida law firm launches class-action suit against the Genesis GV80 The lawsuit alleges the luxury SUV has "dangerous defects" in its steering A Florida law firm specializing in consumer advocacy has filed a federal class-action lawsuit against Hyundai, claiming that the Genesis GV80 sport-utility is unsafe. Corwin Law, based in Boca Raton, filed the lawsuit on behalf of owners and lessees of the GV80, which launched as an all-new model for 2021. The lawsuit claims the automaker is “promoting the GV80 luxury SUV, despite being aware of dangerous defects affecting the vehicle’s driveability that are documented in Korean news media and current customer message boards.”
Not sure if there is any need for that. In South Korea, there were a healthy number of pre-orders for both models -- over 10K for the GV70s -- and they are still struggling to keep up with demand.
@@newchannel1220 i love people posting bogus shit like this? have you seen the class action lawsuits against benz? against audi? any car maker? they all have their flaws, every single one, catastrophic flaws. i owned a ford fusion ecoboost, despite being an amazing car to me, there was a recall that the steering wheel would fall off while driving, do you think people stopped buying that year because of it? no. stop pointing fingers at genesis because of mistakes they've made in the 5 years they've been in business as a standalone branch with their own platforms which are also brand new, instead look at the well stablished brands and their problems and then we talk.
The GV70 makes me wish I was in the market for a new SUV right now. I love the looks of both the interior and exterior. The technology in it also looks awesome 👌
1- I felt *exactly* the same way... until I saw it in person. Looks much better in person (really pops with the white), and much better than the other wheel options avail in US imo. I *do* wish they offered the other non-sport wheels avail in Korea (much nicer). 2- These will be the *easiest* wheels to clean, ever. This is coming from someone who loved the large deep wheels on my prior Audi S5.. but it took me longer to wash *those* wheels, than the car itself lol. Brought my 3.5T sports prestige Uyuni white w red/blk interior home 2 days ago. It’s a work of art😎
I think many people like me are so tired of the German brands - high priced, terrible residual value, poor customer service, often unreliable and ridiculously expensive to own off warranty. I think Genesis is right to go after the performance buyer interested in quality, reliability, handling and customer care.
Nobody in the world can make cars like German, British and Italians. Karl Benz was the first one to invent a car, everybody knows, and so many technologies you see in cars today, all were invented by Mercedes, BMW and Audi first, and then others copied. Ah yes, and VW Classic and Porsche 😍
My family have owned them for over 50 years now and it hadn't been our experience at all. But you have your experience and others have theirs. I had hopes for Genesis also, but my closest friend has a G80 and it's been far from perfect with many issues and he always has to deal with the horrible Hyundai dealerships becuase Genesis has no dealer network in a city of 1.2 million which is sad.
I really wanted to get this. But the lease costs monthly are ridiculous over 1100/month for 3. 5 68k Cdn. I fine with the 2.5 but need the 21 inch wheels (makes the exterior look). Bum'd out at the monthly lease costs... Anyone else agree here?
GV70 is the most competitive product Genesis has come out with. Once they figured out their lease payment and residual value, Acura and Infiniti will be the firsts to worry about them. Lexus is way more established than those 2. It will be even harder to come by than the already hot GV80.
I disagree with you. Acura is extremely well established and just as good and if not better than the overrated Lexus. If anyone needs to worry about Genesis is Lexus. Genesis are making vehicles that are stylish and well built. Lexus has loss there way somewhat in the aesthetics department. Their designs are not the most sophisticated compared to Genesis and definitely not their interiors which screams Toyota. Lexus should be worried not Acua and Infiniti. The one saving grace for Lexus as usual is the only reason they sale the way they do...Reliability
This is the most compelling Genesis product yet. I can't imagine how difficult this will be to buy, especially if you want to pay MSRP or less. The GV80 is already impossible to get and this will be an even hotter seller than that. I think the 70-series Genesis products are their best looking and the 80-series needs to follow suit.
Really? I was not aware of the high demand and mark up for Genesis when I was looking at GV80 and G70, and I have only seen ONCE the GV80 on the road since its launch. The sales person seemed very keen to sell their products. Haven't checked GV70 but I can hardly think there will be much differences.
@@yfbgca9492 Yeah most dealers are sold out for months with the GV80, any new ones inbound are typically sold before they even get unloaded from the truck and most dealers are marking them up. Have seen maybe 10 or so on the road so far.
Ooohhh! What a beautiful car! Love the steering wheel (At least like Zack said “Not a grandpa steering wheel “) and the big touchscreen. Thanks for sharing! 👍🏻👍🏻
Really thorough review, as we all have come to expect from the two of you! I would give this car serious consideration 3 years from now when it has a better track record and residuals have clarified. Love your stuff!
Kia and Hyundai are mainstream now. They are doing such a good job. I wonder how well they hold up for the long haul since I keep my cars for 10 years +
Resale value and redesigns everything 2-4 years means likely won't hold up long run and getting parts could be a problem. Resale value always tells the truth. So fear resale value of Hyandai/Kia not good but perhaps will improvement down the road.
I'm looking at the GV70 for purchase next year. Why would I choose the 3.5 over 2.5? Under what circumstances would I need "more power"? I know NOTHING about cars and trying to learn as much as I can before buying so no buyers remorse later. BTW..I live in the desert but surrounded by a lot of mountainous area. Thank you for your feedback!
The price comparison is way off. If you add the options that the sports plus model has, there is no competition. The comparable models you mentioned are the models with zero options added to the price. You add what the genesis gv70 comes with to the BMW and the Audi(can't even get a remote starter for), you are 15k - 30k more. I am a week away from receiving my GV70 sports plus and I did all the comparables before buying. BMW out of my wanted price range and the Audi is dull, outdated and missing technology.
in 2021 lc 500 is still spectacular, the rest....... outdated and boring. Rc cramped poor performing and mediocre handling, sorry dude. Is 500? Putting v8 in to old design doesnt make it current.
@@robertduklus6555 when did i say current. i said not boring. are you going to tell me a NA 5L V8 with almost 500 HP is boring??? no chance. even the RC F (arguably the least drivaeble “F” car from lexus) is still fun to drive even though it’s not currently the benchmark.
@@naveenthemachine it doesn’t matter because that’s literally why toyota killed off the land cruiser in America so you’d buy the Lexus version (the LX)..Same thing with the Avalon. it sells well but they are also axing that so you buy the Lexus version (the ES) since there will only be 1 option in those categories now so you can’t just “get the Toyota version bc it’s cheaper”. You may not see it now, but Toyota’s plan makes sense.
Its a good car, but prestige isnt just about a good car, its the badge, cachet, hyundai doesnt have that..Lamborghini for example, reliability, price, dont really come into the equation, its a fashion statement and status symbol, it just so happens it has four wheels and you can ride around in it
The price is too high. They’ll still sell some because they’re really nice, but they could dominate if they priced a couple thousand dollars more than an Acura.
I'm really happy Korean rides are pushing the competition. U can thank them for ur heated steering wheel, for example in ur current car. Solid review team.
Now I wish they would bless usdm cars with power folding mirrors. Bit surprised when I saw the new k5 you can't get them on any trim, when it use to be available on the Optima.

Great job as always guys, a bit over "quilted" on the looks but with that 3.5T I'm sure it would be fun! Are you guys going to get a chance to look at the new 3 row Jeep Grand Cherokee? Love to get your take on that vs the competition! thx :-)
Great video review! I took delivery last week of a fully loaded 3.5T Sport Prestige (top trim level in the US). My car has a Uyuni White exterior with an Ultramarine Blue interior. The seats have a combination of Nappa leather (seat bolsters and headrests) with suede inserts, which is what comes with the Sport Prestige package here in the US (I live in Southern California). As far as I’m aware, the quilted leather seats like those in your test vehicle only come on the mid-level trims here in the US. I have to say that I absolutely love the interior and exterior design. On a side note: I left Mercedes-Benz because of the continuous problems with my car and the outrageously expensive maintenance costs once the warranty expired.
But no one talks about the biggest issue with Genesis. You buy a "luxury" vehicle but have to deal with a Hyundai dealer. I LOVE my G80 but when I take it in for service it is far from a luxury experience. Will never buy another Genesis again unless something changes with the dealers.
@@naveenthemachine you just helped prove my point I live within 10 miles 2 Genesis, I mean Hyundai dealers. Just as concierge services not available even though Genesis falsely sells it as a perk. Better than Lexus, lol you are delusional. I have owned my G80 for about 5 months. I have driven loaners for over 9 weeks of that time. Some quality. All that time dealing with these dealers means I am speaking from experience. Hyundai is the thrift store of the luxury cars
It's great that you have the Nightlife segment. But I think it should include shots of the interior with the doors open, the 'puddle light' and even how the headlamps light a specific area.
Thank you for this review. Wow! A beautiful car with great quality & tech-rich from Genesis once again. I have an X5 Bimmer but I think I will trade in with this beaut, very soon!! I hear that Genesis will be launching their own separated dealer showroom soon and that's a good thing!
I am hoping Genesis Canada is watching this stellar review and consider dropping the price to be more competitive for this first-gen GV70 to sell like hot cakes .
Would I buy one.........yes. Of the German's the BMW M40i came closest comparably equipped and it was still almost $5K more US. The Beemer was faster, but Genesis is fast enough for most folks, better looking, great interior fit and finish and styling, all the latest tech (that works), it catches look in parking lots!! Drove a GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige Uyuni white over red/charcoal last of my test drives, it hit all the right buttons, traded my Infiniti Q50 Red Sport on the spot. Genesis is giving Deutschland a run for their money.................
Beautiful SUV but price goes up quickly. The Advanced is more expensive than my RDX A-Specs so I will most likely wait the next generation RDX, hopefully a Hybrid will be available
Rdx Type S will be comparable to the GV70 3.5TT. I expect RDX to fall short in performance luxury and the price will be too high just like the new Acura TLX type S.
I put a deposit on one but pulled it after I heard about the class action lawsuit on the GV80. It drove like a dream and had everything I ever wanted.. but I don't want to deal with issues. I'll likely get a Lexus instead.. yes it's reliable but I'm not overly excited about it.
Would I buy one...hell NO! Although your review focuses on the GV70 the Genesis overall support, or lack of it, make my comments relevant to anyone looking to purchase a Genesis product. First let me say that I had a 2021 G80 Prestige 2.5T. This was my 3d G80 and the first of the new design. The worst part was that the factory support team is unable to properly support the vehicle due to the weakness of the dealer service teams. Escalating to the manufacturer level the factory team has refused to fix issues claiming everything is "normal". REALLY!!!! What is the value of a long warranty if the Manufacturer refuses to perform? The entire Genesis support team is low rent and is clueless about how to treat a premium car customer. They spend so much time patting themselves on the back they don't have time to listen to the customer. The Genesis mission statement is to exceed expectations, which they fail to do. My expectations were set by my prior G80 not a BMW, or Mercedes and the new car did not even live up to their own product. I warn anyone considering purchasing a Genesis product that if it can happen to me as a 3d time loyal Genesis customer it can happen to you since in spite of what they say the Genesis team does not value the individual customer.
Hyundai,Kia and Genesis(being a Brit i'm not that familiar with Genesis)are chucking out some great cars at the moment but the prices are becoming pretty high also. The Santa Fe is a great suv but is not selling in great numbers in Britain because of the high price. The 2nd and 3rd gen Santa Fe's sold in high numbers because you were getting a pretty good car at a reasonable cost.German cars sell well in the UK so to tempt them away you have to make a decent car at a lower price.
I wonder if you all feel they should still drop their prices? From what I am hearing the GV70 is a hot seller and Genesis can’t keep up with production!
My wife owned a BMW for five years. The dealer was by far the most arrogant, difficult to deal with, and most expensive I’ve ever encountered. That totally turned me off to German brands.
Hyundai/Kia & Genesis are just rocking the new designs !!! Not too sure about the wheels but damn they are making some nice vehicles lately. Almost every double take on cars nowaaday's seems to be one of their Cars/SUVS.....
Exhaust is way overdone. No 392 Hemi trying vent itself under the hood. Lol. Those will disappear very soon when this turns EV. Volvo has already eliminated visible exhaust pipes in its ICE vehicles, as it has a non favourable opinion by some environmentalists. Transitioning the rear styling to EV’s is now more simplified in the parts bin.
Price parity with a BMW X340i??? Not here down under. BMW X340i drive away no options $140,710 aud😮 The Genesis GV70 3.3T fully optioned is $100,460😊. I might be able to spend a few stressful hours haggling with BMW for a slightly better deal (just bought a new BMW so I know). Genesis here in OZ, is fixed price on an already value for money SUV; I like that.
It kinda does look browny-pink 🤣 Also, why would someone go from an established Euro marque if dissatisfied with reliability to Genesis and not the much more established Japanese luxury marques, namely Lexus? Lexus has earned its reputation and Genesis is brand new. To people who are used to BMW, Audi, Porsche and MB, there is a certain level of prestige expected and Genesis doesn't have it. Lexus to a significant degree does - drive up in an LC500 and the vehicle has presence, the new NX looks fantastic, etc.

@@djcoronel there are many reasons why somebody would go with this over the NX or RDX. The GV70 is RWD based, has turbo 6 cylinder engines and a way nicer interior
Here in the US the sweet spot for the GV70 is definitely the 2.5L turbo with the Select trim level ($45,000 USD) or the Advanced package ($49,150 USD). Compared to the Select package Advanced package adds only leather seating and a few features such as the blind spot monitor compared to the Select trim for a $4150 MSRP upcharge. Either, however, is a stunning value compared to the 3.5L V6 version (starting at an MSRP of $52,600) and European rivals. The new 3.5L 4 cylinder turbo deserves special attention as Hyundai/KIA/Genesis is deploying it in at least 7 vehicles as standard or optional. In the Korean version of the G70 the 0-60 time is around 6.4 seconds or better. The 3.5 L V6 is considerably quicker, of course, (about a second quicker) but with the base engine the 0-60 time is essentially equal to the Acura RDX and ample for a family SUV. Inexplicably, Genesis has chosen to leave the G70 sedan with the previous 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo it had shared with the KIA Stinger (now with the 2.5L turbo). Apparently, Genesis is putting their eggs in the SUV basket and ignoring the base version of the G70 sport sedan. That's no doubt based on the automaker's belief that SUVs will help improve the dismal sales of Genesis models but it's a shame to see the otherwise excellent G70 left in the dust.
Why would anyone pay $60+k for a four cylinder luxury SUV??? If you can afford a GV 70 get the twin turbo V6 and actually enjoy the vehicle. It's like buying a Mercedes Diesel. Why?????? spend 100K + on a 'luxury' vehicle so it can sound like shit and stink and have half the power to what. save a few bucks on fuel?? Now you don't even save anything with the price of Diesel as high as it is and you pay more for the vehicle and for service. Perhaps you can make a case for longevity in a diesel but if you take care of a gas engine and ignore the Ludacris 16K+ oil change intervals the manufacturers recommend there is no reason you can't get 500k out of a gas engine. These are luxury vehicles you buy them because you like them and they are enjoyable to own and drive. If you are concerned about fuel mileage you can't afford the vehicle so buy a RAV 4 or a CRV. If you're spending this much money and still have to put up with the noise, vibration and lack of power of a 4 cylinder engine what's the point?? I've driven both the 4 cylinder turbo and 6 cylinder turbo GV 70 and the is no comparison. I'd be willing to bet in real world driving the 4 cylinder doesn't get much better mileage than the 6
Top end price comparisons with the Germans, especially Porsche are deceiving, because in spite of the "packages" you can option out those vehicles to nearly double the price of the Genesis. The list of boxes you can tick off with BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Porsche is staggering, whereas there is virtually nothing that you can add to top end trim of the GV70, and the only accessory is a $45 first aid package. Porsche charges that much for additional air ... IN ONE TIRE! I went on the Porsche build & price website tool and without even checking all of the boxes, I optioned out a Macan to over $130,000 .... US!
I’d like to see this channel do 2 reviews for each car… a condensed one like this, and an extended version that dives deeper and provides the details enthusiasts want to know
Beautiful. I just bought a Cadillac xt5 and really enjoy it. A turbo 4 cyl. Always wanted one Cadillac before going belly up. BUT if I had bought something else the gv70 would be it. The only thing I don't like are the fancy looking wheels. Not my cup of tea.
German car makers should be trying to buy up all of their used vehicles.. Seeing a car that originally sold in the $70k area, now selling for under $5K really makes them look bad.
Do they have an ex BMW designer there? Dials are similiar (both needles come to the centre). The info screen, although 14 1/2 inches which seems big, is only about 3 inches wide - so really narrow. So great for selecting car apps, not so good for navigation.
Very impressive car in every dimension save for the wheel design. I love that five spokes but what did they do to each spoke? And why? Alloys are one of the most ‘prone to get dirty and damage’ components on a car. Companies should design such parts that are easy to maintain and clean. And those patterns on the alloys on GV70 are completely opposite to this idea. What does Genesis want - that one should laminate the wheel or keep those as a show piece in their house? They appear amazing, majestic but is not appropriate choice on a wheel.
I did a test drive on the sport trim last week in Canada. I had experience in driving SQ5 and X3 M40i before. I believe the interior is nicer than the current Audi Q5 series (A lot, not even the same level, sorry Audi, but you really need to update the current interior of Q5 and A4/5, even Q3 is nicer than these in my opinion) and BMW X3 series (x3 will get an appearance refresh this year to match the current 3 series, but as for now I think Genesis wins) and is maybe the same level as the current GLC models (Once the GLC refreshes to match the new C-Class which has the same interior as the S-Class I think GLC will lead this market). Plus, this car has a lot of features which you may or may not use, and the infotainment system is easy to use. The first con which everyone expects I guess, if you are looking for a sporty SUV (especially when you are getting the 3.5T), do not expect the handling/performance of this car to be matching X3 M40 or GLC43. Plus the engine sound was a bit strange so I turned it off during my test drive lol... It drives kinda like the SQ5 if you have driven that car before. The second con is, you may be able to get a better lease deal on X3 M40i and SQ5 than this car at the moment in Canada. (Almost no room for negotiation on GV70 I think) Especially with BMW you also get the maintenance covered from the leasing period too. Since Genesis only had a limited inventory, you may be able to get your car faster from German Brands too (which also makes Genesis sound like they are really selling well because they are always Out of Stock and you need to wait for your order, but imaging they have the same inventory level as German Brands lol)
had to agreed with Andrea, the burgundy color looks stunning especially when it is under the sun. Also, the wheels reminds me the croc skin leather shoes... they stand out but just not my cup of tea :)
Fantastic review team! You hit all the key things we want to know about this car. Agreed, the 2.5T Prestige trim would be the way to go. However, Genesis seems to have blown it when it comes to pricing at these trim levels. Why would I pay the same amount when I could get a Q5 or X3? Unfortunate to see Genesis continuing this trend so soon into their journey when they don't command the price points yet their rivals do.
Lol in the US, anyone would take a fully loaded gv70 over a q5 or x3 because it’s much cheaper. People would get the gv70 over the q5 or x3 even at the same price is because the gv70 is simply more luxury inside, better fit and finish, more tech, and more power.
That was my reaction to their pricing too. Genesis is making great cars but they need to stop acting like they’re already an established player like the Germans and Lexus. They’re not going to dethrone the big boys with this kind of pricing. Should be undercutting Acura for that matter. Great car, wrong price.
Issue is also these will have awful value retention compared to a Lexus. So now only do you pay more you get killed when you go to sell it. It obviously looks far nicer then the Lexus or Acura
The Macan has been updated since this video, a Macan "S" now has 375 hp and starts at $70,600 Canadian. That makes this top-spec GV70 $5000 more. I like it but can't justify the price when a Porsche with similar horsepower and a few options would come out to the same money. The lower-spec GV70 might be the way to go. Great review as always :)
Exactly, they have raised their prices a bit too high for what it is still a relatively new brand, even the lowest trim is 50k CAD if it was 40k maybe and thats still a big maybe...
To be honest I don’t see the value for the top trim 3.5L. Sure it has great tech and interior but at that price, the AMG, M line and SQ German engine performance is better. However, I do see a more intriguing purchase price at the 2.5L spec
Totally agree - here in the U.S. the top trim GV70 is around $63k + $1k freight. I don't know how well equipped the German equivalents would be at that price but I was expecting a lower top-end price for the GV70. To answer my own question, a Q5 with plug-in hybrid (closest power to the 3.5L GV70) with a Sport package is $64,045 including freight. So same price. An SQ5 with all the goodies (except for the "Dynamic Steering") is $67,500. For a top-end X3 M40i it's $60,475 (with Executive options). If you want to compare the top GV80 at almost $73,000, to BMW X5 xDrive45e at $66,900 and an Audi Q7 at $83,640. In each case I picked almost all options (but not "Dynamic Steering" or "All Wheel Steering"). I thought the X5 and the Q7 were competing vehicles yet there's a $10k difference.
@@jsfbay1 Exactly, plus the Q5 hybrid has government incentives that can reduce the cost even more (if you haven’t already included that reduction) plus you can use the HOV lanes as a single passenger (at least where I live) Very good first effort and there will be many people who jump on this model but pricing needs to be a bit less or performance needs to increase if it wants to pull serious German brand enthusiasts away from their current rides.
@@bradleyscarreviews - Yes, and I mentioned I was comparing the X5 to the GV80 fully loaded model. I just assumed the 45e would be more expensive than the 40e you're quoting. Unless I missed something really big on the X5Xdrive45e, what makes the 40e version so much more expensive? I freely admit I don't know squat about the German SUVs :-;
I agree with Andrea, I like the colour. It is a beautiful vehicle. Not a fan of the diamond shape on the wheels, but when you are driving inside, who cares. lol.. The only thing that kind of scares me is the price range.. I have been spoiled by driving the top trim level of the Cadillac's that I have owned and so the top trim level pricing is getting out of my comfort zone.. Although I often say, I would never pay that price for a car and then end up getting it.. hahahahahaha..
I'm sorry but you can't have this level of quality and luxury and expect it to be 2 to 3k less than its competition. You want the goods? You have to pay for it
hahaha BMW X3... used they start at $1500 in LA area craigslist... Q5 start at around $2800. How stupid can you get, if you actually buy a German car...
Is that GV80 system a hot mess steaming? IE a steaming pile of.... I'm not too sure the rear quarters of this GV70 fits the rest of the car's design. I think the rear of the GV80 resolves the design much better. The interior is very nice, I agree. In the end, I agree with Zack. The car just needs to be cheaper because they haven't proven they can maintain their resale values vs their competition. Having said this, it's great seeing such a capable offering coming into the market and putting pressure on the German OEMs
Same thing in 4 cyl versions, I'm looking at the GV70 Advanced Plus which is 59K. Similar equipped X3 is $65K and GLC is $69K I'll be buying the GV 70

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
Canadian reviewers are getting more clicks on this vehicle because press release has not happened yet in the US and the car has been out for over a month here.
Beautiful mid-size SUV! thanks for the review, I feel the front low grill misses some attractive fog lights, to fill in for some plastic frames.
How hard is it to book an appointment??
that's a hot looking SUV....
Would not buy one. Korean cars are not going to last. Porsche Macan GTS would make me happier.
No comments on how it actually drives?
Acceleration?
How does it corner?
How quiet is it?

the pricing these reviewers used to compare to the X3 and Macan was wrong.
Yeah but BMW offers good money off MSRP plus if you lease them their deals are very aggressive.
Yep. Starts at $40K....then add tires, seats, windows and you're already at $70K.
Correct. For every make/model I considered, I used the manufacturer's "build tool" to price out what I would want if I bought one.
I’m super impressed with Genesis 👌👏
You will be super bummed by their dealerships.

Florida law firm launches class-action suit against the Genesis GV80
The lawsuit alleges the luxury SUV has "dangerous defects" in its steering
A Florida law firm specializing in consumer advocacy has filed a federal class-action lawsuit against Hyundai, claiming that the Genesis GV80 sport-utility is unsafe.

Thanks for sharing, you make some excellent points.

As I stated below we just bought one. Dealership had 3 last week including ours sold all in 4 days.
Would I buy one? Yes, I did! Thanks in part to reviews like this! Thanks!
With the class action lawsuit from GV80 owners wonder why there would be a lineup to buy those.
@@James-il3tq But what portion of GV80 owners does the class action lawsuit represent? Could be a very small fraction for all we know.

The wheels are too much. Simplicity is more attractive.
Would I buy one.........yes. Of the German's the BMW M40i came closest comparably equipped and it was still almost $5K more US.
Wow. Stunning! ... and I don't mind the quilted seats. Haha.
Thanks for the review Andrea and Zack! Very nice vehicle, but that waffle pattern detail on the exterior reminds me of Eggos. Mmmm Eggos🤤

Hyundai/Kia & Genesis are just rocking the new designs !!! Not too sure about the wheels but damn they are making some nice vehicles lately. Almost every double take on cars nowaaday's seems to be one of their Cars/SUVS.....
Yes, I agree they are killing it with their products, so beautiful.
I dont care much for the Exhaust look and the lower bumper with all that mesh look.

@@djcoronel Awesome, thank you!
@@djcoronel there are many reasons why somebody would go with this over the NX or RDX. The GV70 is RWD based, has turbo 6 cylinder engines and a way nicer interior
Just like what Zack says, Lexus is boring.

We are trying to see if we can get a 2.5T to review. We'll see....
I'd be willing to bet in real world driving the 4 cylinder doesn't get much better mileage than the 6
Another great review. Genesis is on a roll. However still not a big fan. They are moving in for one the Germans territory very soon.

Beautiful. I just bought a Cadillac xt5 and really enjoy it. A turbo 4 cyl. Always wanted one Cadillac before going belly up. BUT if I had bought something else the gv70 would be it. The only thing I don't like are the fancy looking wheels. Not my cup of tea.
I think Genesis scares off potential buyers by sending top trim that's costs 70k to all reviewers. 2.5l would be a better choice as a starter.
Agreed
We hope to get a 2.5L to review, working on it.
New Subscriber here! Your review is very well put together, personable, and informative.
Wheels look great.
Better in person. Will be a dream to clean (vs my prior Audi S5 wheels😖)!
Genesis operates with no inventory on ground only demos all vehicles are brought in from pool stock at port or factory order from Korea
Great Report and your analysis of the brand is strong. FYI, Genesis is not sold in France ( taxes, taxes, taxes...)
Thank you so much, glad to hear you enjoyed it.
had to agreed with Andrea, the burgundy color looks stunning especially when it is under the sun.
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it. We appreciate your positive feedback.
For the price of the prestige you’ll be getting base Q5 and X3. Shittier engines too
Lol in the US, anyone would take a fully loaded gv70 over a q5 or x3 because it’s much cheaper.
Yes but 2.5 t doesn't get you the 21 big wheels which in my opinion make the look of this car (like a Macan)
Issue is also these will have awful value retention compared to a Lexus. So now only do you pay more you get killed when you go to sell it. It obviously looks far nicer then the Lexus or Acura
Zack needs to let Andrea talk. You got old man opinions. Andrea seems hip and with it.
I’ll take an fully loaded Mazda CX-9 or the new Lexus nx
those are fine if you don’t care about performance or driving
Pleather!!!??? Big disappointment. You’re not Mercedes. Leather should be standard on all models.
Excellent review, BTW! You covered all of the bases in a short amount of time and made it fun. Subscribing!
I think it looks good, just not in this colour
Beautiful SUV!
@@jsfbay1 Exactly, plus the Q5 hybrid has government incentives that can reduce the cost even more (if you haven’t already included that reduction) plus you can use the HOV lanes as a single passenger (at least where I live)
Very good first effort and there will be many people who jump on this model but pricing needs to be a bit less or performance needs to increase if it wants to pull serious German brand enthusiasts away from their current rides.
@@jsfbay1 You have to compare the x5 to the gv80 fully loaded. The x5Xdrive40e is 80,100 with every option ticked.
@@Strictlybusiness79 - No, I didn't include the U.S. Federal Gov't incentives. Good point!!!
@@bradleyscarreviews - Yes, and I mentioned I was comparing the X5 to the GV80 fully loaded model. I just assumed the 45e would be more expensive than the 40e you're quoting. Unless I missed something really big on the X5Xdrive45e, what makes the 40e version so much more expensive? I freely admit I don't know squat about the German SUVs :-;
Andrea is great as usual, Zach is average at best!
Thanks for your kind words. Average here.
Such a pretty colour, looks great in any light.
That front grill will look off with the license plate in the middle.. they designed it without considering where the license plate to be placed… 👎
I'm sorry but you can't have this level of quality and luxury and expect it to be 2 to 3k less than its competition. You want the goods? You have to pay for it
wheels are too much
hahaha BMW X3... used they start at $1500 in LA area craigslist... Q5 start at around $2800. How stupid can you get, if you actually buy a German car...
There is a BMW X5 for $3500.
Love everything about this vehicle but I must say I HATE those wheels.
I did too in pictures... until I saw it in person. Brought mine home two days ago. Wheels pop w white ext.
