    A video for making a bike chain and paracord fob or bracelet would be pretty cool. Something using standard bike chain.

    I've braided a key fob as an handle extension for a shorter pocket knife (this channel might have even suggested it) so really not than crazy an idea.

    I wonder what the legality of this kind of knife in terms of uk carry laws is. It's obviously not a locking knife. It's also not exactly a fixed blade given that's it's, well, floppy. And it does fold, just probably not in the way the law expects it to. Would this kind of knife be legal to carry in the uk (assuming all other relevant requirements such as blade length are adhered to)?

    I think the reason why your sheath broke is because it isn't made of kydex but a cheaper thermoplastic

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  2 місяці тому +5

      Yeah I stated in the video that it's made of thermoplastic. You definitely won't get a kydex sheath at the price they're charging, but understandably so.

    Nice! I just think about it today. But more like a mini dagger that you handle tip down, to be a selfdense backup tool. To handle with the weakest hand to push or grab.

    Interesting concept but for the handle is too short based on the amount of links and definitely not wide enough for my hands, would be nice if they had different size chain options available or made it so the end user could swap the chain for a different size/type, but based on the attachment point it'll only work with that specific modified chain.

    The Para-Claw knife bracelet (1.5 inch hawkbill blade) by Outdoor Edge is another good wearable option.
    I think you did a nice video on it several years ago. The drawback is that they’re sold as a kit with paracord. I prefer to choose my own paracord colors. But I wish the blades were sold separately to make as gifts.

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  3 місяці тому

      Agreed! The paraclaw is a nice little blade option as well. And yeah, they really should sell them as buckles only. They now have the paraspark, which is similar to the paraclaw, but different blade with a ferro rod. They have a buckle only option for that, so perhaps they'll start selling the paraclaw buckle only someday.

    I want a small blade like this that locks into a belt buckle, or behind it. I occasionally feel defenseless at concerts and events when I can't bring my EDC kit and CCW through the metal detectors and wanding attendants. It'd probably be overlooked as simply a metal belt buckle, allowing it to pass. I have a wallet blade and it's not great. If needed quickly, I'd have to pull my money clip out of my pocket, then dig through cards without cutting my finger to pull it out. Even then, it's merely a flat rectangle of metal with one sharp corner and serrated edge. Not particularly practical, or very useful for self-defense purposes.
    This Tailbone knife would work well on a belt, and right above where your hands grip the shoulder straps of a backpack, due to the handle being able to follow the varying contours. It could help cut a strap or belt in an emergency when getting hung up while climbing. That's an actual concern of mine. Numerous videos show just that happening to people at the worst possible times.

      I only ever use mine when it's the only thing I'm carrying but it's nice having something easy to tuck away, I keep it on a more jewelry type chain so it's extremely inconspicuous when tucked under a shirt, great for areas where a large visible fixed blade would draw unwanted negative attention (have been denied entry at music venues for the blade I typically belt carry)

    This is like the Giant Mouse GMF1 neck knife, like a third of the handle for me is the paracord with large stud hanging off of it. Without that, the handle is both too small and too oddly curved to make the knife almost at all holdable/usable. With it though, it provides some grip purchase and a bit of flexibility. Kinda weird idea, but it kinda works.

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  2 місяці тому

      Ohh, I like the GMF1. I've always wanted to pick one up. I'm a big fan of Jesper Voxnaes and Jens Anso. And yeah, paracord can really make a small knife much more useable. I do like that leather sheath the GMF 1 comes in too. I'll have to check it out some day haha

    • @merrickx
      @merrickx 2 місяці тому

      @@TheWeaversofEternity The handle of it has a shape that is not conducive to a 3-finger grip, but a very large bead paracorded- cinched down close to the grip gives the meat of the lower palm and pinky a lot of purchase, and makes the knife very good. Even better if installing some sort of aftermarket scales or a paracord grip over the entire thing.

    I have a Talon neck knife, and love it. I don't ever wear it though. Mostly because it's a bit heavy, and I don't have many uses for it. I bought it because it was interesting. I did the same thing with the Mantis Vuja De, only it's a knockoff version, lol.

      Oh nice! I think I have one of those talon neck knives as well, or something similar to that. I don't know where it went though, somewhere in one of my junk boxes lol. This tailbone is pretty lightweight for a neck knife, but you could even lighten it further if you remove the handle. I've seen someone do that on UA-cam haha

    Calling that a choking hazard is very confusing. Its a strangling hazard. Neck or not

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  Місяць тому +1

      Choking is defined as "(of a person or animal) have severe difficulty in breathing because of a constricted or obstructed throat or a lack of air."
      A lanyard without a breakaway safety could potentially constrict your throat/airway, therefore it is a "choking hazard".

    Why not just carry a folder?

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  2 місяці тому

      I think some people like the convenience of a neck knife because it's very easily accessible. I heard that neck knives are also very popular in the bushcrafting world too as they will have a dedicated large fixed blade, but have a neck knife as a secondary for smaller more dedicated cutting tasks. I've seen knife guys that carry both a folder and a neck knife too. So it's just a matter of preference.

    Chipped sheath = cheap sheath
    I had a kbar with a leather sheath, and I cut through the sheath by simply unsheathing from belt, which is standard use for combat knife. Some sheaths are simply disappointing.

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  2 місяці тому +1

      It's definitely cheap for sure, as it's just plastic. I wasn't expecting much from a budget knife though, but it would be nice if they made stuff like this a little bit stronger. That being said, a sheath that gets damaged from unsheathing is a bit inexcusable.
      If you have some time and want to get into a fun hobby, you can always try making your own leather sheath. I've made some wallets and it's quite fun and satisfying!
