    I use an alternative method of self defence in my car here in Australia. In the storage hold in my door I have a sock full of coins. It is heavy enough to give someone a face ache or head ache but if ever I were to be pulled over and searched by the Police my explanation is the coins are for car parking meters or fast food when I drive through a McDonald's. Nothing they can disprove..

    Switchblades were associated with youth gang culture in the 1950s, and there were movements to make them illegal. Now many of those laws have been repealed. But people still assume switchblades are illegal.

      It's also not quite right to say that there's no difference in the danger between a blade that opens with the push of a button vs folding vs fixed blades--that's in order of decreasing danger...to the person whose blade it is. (I actually have been trying to decide just how I want to tie the lanyard for a knife I sometimes carry while hiking, for emergency needs.)

    1:58 sooooo, carrying "anything" for the purpose of crime-ing "is" legal? Ya, I know, making a point. Sad state of affairs when a person can not defend themselves with anything but their bare hands when we all know, criminals don't care about the law and will do and Carry "anything" they want. Way to go Trudeau. Great way to take care of your country and treat your surfs well.
    Weaver, I feel for you and i.hope one day you will be able to do what is needed to defend life and property in your country, that is unless you like what your country is doing, in this aspect, in which case more power to you and no offense was intended. Live long and prosper - Nanu Nanu

    One slight correction about Canadian weapon law:
    It would not become illegal when used for self defense. Technically, defending yourself with reasonable force, even with a weapon, is not illegal, but the laws are vague and open to interpretation. It is illegal to carry an object with the intent to use it as a weapon, even as self defense, but not illegal to use an object to defend yourself. I can carry a pocket knife with the intent to open blister packages, and even use it for self defense. Although, proving self defense, especially with a knife, is difficult, and peoples ideas of reasonable force vary wildly.

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  7 місяців тому +1

      Yeah I think in my video I stated that "carrying anything for the purpose of self-defense is illegal" so you could obviously carry a knife for utility and that would be legal.
      Also, I'm not sure about this part so don't quote me, but I recall something about only being able to use equal amounts of force for self defense. So if your attacker is punching you, but you pull your knife on them that is illegal. But if they have a knife and then you pull your knife, it's legal. Again, I could be wrong, but I recall hearing something ridiculous like that. 🤷‍♂

      Sounds very similar to here in the UK. Total nightmare. You're not allowed to prepare to defend yourself or your home. But if you ever NEED to defend yourself or your home then you can use or do pretty much whatever is necessary so long as you don't cross some invisible, undefined line.

    With something like a monkey's fist, I think it more comes down to intent. If it's the size of a marble, and the length is short, it's pretty clear you're not aiming to take someone's head off with it. lol. In Oregon any sort of spring assisted knife is illegal yet I could legally walk down the street with a sword on my back because it's a fixed blade. Spring assisted includes switchblades, stilettos, OTFs, and even flipper tabs if they open with a spring to help it.

    It seems like you could just tell the police you use it for camping, if you have a place to tie off a bit of rope to it, it is genuinely useful for getting a rope around a high tree branch, in fact that use case seems more plausible than self-defense to me. as long as you didn't actually use it for self-defense, it would be very hard for a court to prove intent.

      @@TheWeaversofEternity I'll be 41 in less than a month. On my 21st birthday I went to the local sheriff's office and applied for my license to carry firearms (openly or concealed) in the State of Pennsylvania.
      I have had a gun on my person for a solid 99% of the days ever since then and never once needed it but have come close a few times.
      Luckily for me, the times I was under actual threat to my life I was in a vehicle and simply drove away. I race sports cars as a sometimes hobby, haha.
      There's no streets running red, piles of dead kids or whatever the heck the political Left want to claim happen from people like me. I'm just a guy living a peaceful life but able to actually do something if evil visits me in a way that I cannot avoid. Any suggestion from politicans that I or the literal millions of other Americans who live just exactly as I do are any sort of "problem" is just a power grab.
      Oh, and nearly all my firearms are either illegal outright or highly restricted in Canada...
      If this and the other founding principles of America make sense to you, and you are able to do so, I invite you to come down South a bit. Unfortunately Biden is giving priority to illegals, so I don't know how long it would take to do it "correctly."
