- A high school senior has been slammed over a Chinese-style dress she wore to prom that has led to accusations of cultural appropriation. Keziah Daum, 18, of Woods Cross High School in Utah, received backlash after posting photos from her prom, where she posed in a traditional Chinese dress. "My culture is not your [expletive] prom dress," read one furious tweet. Daum defended her dress choice to Inside Edition, saying she wore it to show "respect for all cultures." #InsideEdition
I’m Chinese, I don’t find it offensive. She looks very beautiful in that dress. You people need to chill out
Same here
From my experience, Asian people got some petty pride about their culture. Usually about honor and glory. I'm Hmong, it might be different for Chinese though.
What's with idiot teenage boys harassing women on UA-cam comments.
Cameron Robison She does rock that dress, and people should appreciate her appreciation of other cultures.
True
She’s not being racist or rude to the Chinese race. She simply thought it was a beautiful dress and wanted to wear it to her prom. No need for hate.
bUt tHiNk oF tHe ChIlDrEn
Little confused if it’s not her culture why would she wear it? Isn’t it offensive... I’m not Chinese I’m Asian but if I see somebody wearing my culture clothing why would I react positive
That’s kind of... like a excuse if I thinked box braids was cute could I wear it? No that’s culture appropriation and disrespectful somebody wearing my culture clothing is disrespectful
@@Ilovemomo811 Think what you want. I don’t agree with you. Many people will agree with you, and many people will agree with me. I see no harm in what she wore.

This is stupid. Y’all can’t expect someone to appreciate your culture if they don’t experience it.

Right that’s like Chinese food how is that they want people to eat there food but not wear there cloths it’s just a dress there probably saying how would you feel if someone is wearing cloths from your country I would be happy because it’s there money and I can’t tell them what to buy and her mom or dad could have been Chinese.
Couldn’t they have appreciated it differently?... like I’m confused

I might have taken her side had I not been Chinese. Doing even something like this, even though you don’t mean it, can get you in big trouble, even banned from China. Chinese people take respect very seriously. A model for Victoria’s Secret got banned from China because she mocked the Buddha. I’m honestly not surprised. She could have looked into this more. But bullying is too far, I have to agree.

I am not Chinese but I got one of those dress as a gift from my mom's friend and seeing this makes me scared to wear it no lie.

I'm sure most Asians don't see a problem with it. It's mostly the young, self hating, white guilt ridden white people that have a problem with it. They've been brainwashed into believing that everyone and everything is racist and offensive nowadays.

Matthew Marrero for instance if a white man comes up wearing native american headdress and making racist remarks and says it's not native american its hip then that's cultural appropriation
