This reminds me of the incident that happened back in 1991 when a Texas mother was arrested for hiring a hit man to kill one of her daughter's competitors in an effort to land her daughter a spot on the cheerleading squad. High school is a very brief period in someone's life, but an arrest record for this type of stuff can follow you for life.

@David Valencia There was also a second movie made entitled "The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom" which was directed by Michael Ritchie. There was also a book published... and in 2012, Wanda Holloway's daughter Shannon, gave an interview to ABC news. Can you image being an adult in 2012 and publicly discussing an incident that happened when you were 13 years old that sent your mom to prison for a decade?

My high school U.S history teacher told us once they got rid of the popular vote system years ago and it's now if you buy a ticket to the homecoming event/ prom you had a chance to win. Yet this one dad wanted his daughter to win so bad he bought over 100 tickets for his daughter and she still lost because the school knew he was trying to rig it. My teacher said the dad then tried to sue the school to get his money back and sue for the emotional damage it caused his daughter not winning. He lost but still shows how low some parents can go.

According to other news reports, the way they did it was to hack into other student's accounts, which had their personal info (full names, address, grades, health records, etc...) in order to cast votes making it look like the votes were coming from each of those students. The hacking into private info is what got them into trouble with the FBI.

I remember being nominated for Prom Queen with my four other friends. To me, I didn’t feel like going, but one of my friends and fellow nominee made sure I had a good time that night. And I did. I was just having fun with my friends so to me it didn’t matter if I won or not. One of the other friends won and we were all happy for her. My fellow nominee and friend said she wished I’d won but it didn’t matter to me if I won or not. Just being nominated and having a good time with everyone was all that mattered to me. Sadly, the friend that made that night so memorable for me passed away in a car crash a couple months later. Prom is still a memory I’d take with me for the rest of my life and honor my friend with.
Yes, what this girl who rigged the votes did was wrong and I feel sorry that she let winning at all costs ruin what could’ve been one of the best memories of her high school. My point is, as a message to other kids, winning prom Queen doesn’t award you anything special in life. It is just a crown (and you can’t put prom Queen on applications and expect a job right out of the blue). Prom is meant to be fun and memorable. It’s an event. Not a competition. She just sacrificed what could’ve been a wonderful memory for a prize that doesn’t mean much. And I hope she is able to learn and become a better person later on. I have hope for this girl because I’ve seen kids with parents like that who were entitled bullies, but when adult life came, they actually became decent people who raised their kids to be way better people than they were.

I'm pretty sure nobody else in my school thinks about it either. But her reputation as a cheater will follow her for a lifetime. And, that Mom has herself to thank for her daughter's ruined reputation. What a pathetic excuse for a parent.
