- It's Triple Chaos time again. Making a 3-string license plate guitar.
Reclaimed oak box, mahogany neck with dovetailed Beech headstock. The whole guitar was burned after assembly and sanded again, finished with a few layers of Portuguese wax. Bridge and neck from mahogany, fret dots and headstock out of beech, the back is made from recycled steel, volume and tone knobs in the "knee stand" (connected with copper tube). (amplified by a rod piezo under the bridge).

Not Just Sawdust, Não Só Serradura, because it isn't just that. It's the evidence reflecting the relentless urge to create, the proverbial blood of that beautiful material nature provides us with. It's the sharp teeth that cut, the subdued mind that finds out what a piece of wood harbors in itself.

Simply genius!!!
Muy bonita grande CHE👍
Sounds good and soulful. I really like the knee rest.
I build CBG's....very nice. You just earned another sub
Hi there from Portugal(Coimbra)
Nice :D
Obrigado(Thanks)
It was a pleasure watching you work, you are a true craftsman.
Nice 3 string guitar Gerrit! Thanks for sharing the video with us.👌👍😎JP
Gerrit i enjoyed the build and the jam session, your use of jigs and tools is getting more creative, thanks for sharing your your with us,all the best to you and yours my friend 🎸😎✌👌🎵🎶
Thanks Ron! As the addiction to building recycled box guitars really is untreatable... there will be more!
@@NotJustSawdust my friend as long as you build and film them,i will be here to watch them
What a lovely sound that makes! Very cool design as well, I do love seeing your collection of guitars.
Dude I’ve watched at least 15 videos on making one of these, I think yours is tops! Great job!
Fantastic, a lovely tone too. 👍
The tone is good... the playing, well....
That is a cool way to use an old licence plate!
@@vtbn53 I agree! I was thinking of all my old licence plates when I made the comment.
@@vtbn53 Our license plates are not really a perfect shape for a guitar (long and narrow), As I don't want to buy anything for my builds, I will do with whatever people throw away. (or give me)
@@vtbn53 I am actually from Canada, but I agree, I do have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to license plates!
@@vtbn53 pretty much, except for Nunavut and Northwest territories, they are shaped like polar bears
Cool!
Yep, I do like the sound. Is it better for the resonance to leave the backside open, rather than put a cover on it?
That is awsome man, you can sell it to seasick steve!
As I understand, he gets all the 3 strings donated (*o*) and to be hounest, if he would use one of mine I on stage, I would let him have it for free too! (Can't think of better promotion)
Garrit, Music in stereo! damn your good! Looks like your upping the anti on the necks. Waiting for the next upgrade. LOL! Luthier man!
That's the whole point of these exercises... in the end, it must lead to an instrument of perfection (long way to go though!) Thanks for watching, all the best from Portugal.
Looks and sound v. cool. The Che Guevara plate is cool to. What tuning do you use ?
Thanks Rob, Normally I tune DAD or GDG (depending on the strings)
@@NotJustSawdust sounds interesting! 👍
Terrific job Gerrit, that knee-rest/control box had me guessing all the way to the end! Incidentally, that bridge pick-up is intriguing, what make is that? Was it very expensive?
I will send you one !!!!
Not Just Sawdust Okay, that'll give my a kick in the pants to get some stuff done to those tin can guitars. I hope.
@@MarkMcCluney That could be a good reason! You no what? I will send you two! (one like the one used in this video and 1 with the same rod piezo but with a little "pre-amp")
Oh.... and you got until the first of December (*o*) to come to a final result. I'll keep you informed...
Not Just Sawdust Okay. December, got it. What year?
Gerrit, what music is this at 04:11 ?
UA-cam Audio Library... (*o*)
Wonderful, I'll go and listen to the thousands of songs there to find out which one you used, then...
@@tiptap1600 Yeb, that's what I do. just use the "free to use" ones. I would have a hard time finding it back (*o*)
I'm sure you would. It's not like you had to identify and download it, or anything...
@@tiptap1600 OK... It's called Malandragem (at 82% speed)
🧡💯😎👍👍🍕🍺⭐
