This was a very fun build, and my finished cigar box guitar DOG BOWL RESONATOR, came out great. M~
Looks great, but couldn't you have just glued the piezo on the bowl without cutting a hole? Seems an unnecessary extra step?
@@MomusFilms Hey David, Yes, you can just glue the piezo under the bowl, I've done that on some also, but this bowl seemed to be kind of thick, so by drilling a little hole, I was able to get some piezo connection to the bowl and a little to the box top to give it a bit more sound volume.
I am a bit surprised that you WANT the boards touching the dog bowl. Wouldn't it act more like a diaphragm if nothing was touching it, and resonate better? Have you tried this to see what the difference is in sound quality?
@@Crogon Ive made them different ways, They've all sounded good, each way gives them a different sound. M~

Dork? Wtf I wouldn't take that as a compliment
@@mattschannel1502 I can assure you I ment my comment it with great admiration and respect for these man. I can for certainly understand how I might not seem that way. I did come to realize that dork is not always used with positive connotation.

Hi:
LOVE your channel!
I've never made a CBG, but I spent 20+ years building custom Electrics, so I have a little basic concept.
A stroke screwed me up pretty bad a few years ago so I had to stop building. Recently a heart attack did me in again. I'm determined to build a CBG regardless, and your channel has given me the determination to try it.
Keep jammin' on those CBG's. LOVE that swamp blues sound!
Thank you.
God bless:
Dave
Thank you, Dave. Just start on it slow, before you know it, it will be finished. :)

I’m going to finally pull the trigger on this project
Thanks whysguy/ M~
Watching this video has given me an itch to build my own CBG. Thank you for making a fun tutorial. I don't have a cigar box,
so I'm making one out of pallet wood (oak). It sanded up real pretty.
Thank you, Bradford. That's great, you should build your own, its a lot of fun. Pallet wood looks nice when you clean it up some. Ive build a lot of things using pallets. Good luck with that CBG. M~
I don't know how I landed here but the journey through this video was incredible. Love your earnest, dorky energy, my friend. I don't know you but you're probably a great dad
Thank you very much, Claire. I appreciate that. M~
That was great. SUBBED
Thanks, I appreciate that. M~
One of the best vids yet !!!.. I’ve tried a couple ways to attach a neck with a bowl resonator and just didn’t like the way they turned out ... never thought about using dowels for strength... Thanks !!!!... By the way , you are the only CBG builder that my wife will tolerate to watch .. she says you are genuine , down to earth and have a good sense of humor !... Thanks again !!
Your welcome Mike. I appreciate the kind words, Tell your wife thanks also :) Yes, I use dowels quite a bit when I don't have a lot of glue space, they work great. You can even use different color ones if they are visible and it gives your piece a cool look. tip tip. lol Thanks Mike. M~
Very nice 👍 WOW......
Thank you Jeremy. M~
Bow WOW!
Thanks Robert, That's what Buster said. :)
Nice guitar sounds good 👍

Thanks my friend, for the subb and all. Wow, cool. Ive got to go back to the dollar tree. LOL
Hi, I will use this vid as my own build tutorial. Got all parts pretty much like the ones you have used. Thank you again.
Your welcome. That's awesome! Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for checking out the vidoes. M~
Southern Fire Guitars have you bought a bigger bowl? :) Seriously, I will try to follow each stage to build mine. Will share how it turns out later.
You have truly inspired me sir!!! Got a beat up “strat” with no electronics or pickguard. Time for some routing I think 😀
Thank you, its good to be inspired. Good luck with the Strat resonator build. :)
I was gonna make a plain cigar box guitar out of an old COHIBA box I have laying around but since I have cat bowls I prefer the idea of making it a resonator. Thanks for the suggestion. This video inspired my to put another summer project on my list.
Thanks Michael!
Thanks D. They are fun to build. M~
Michael thanks for the inspiration just finished my first dog bowl . Was not copying your yellow color just happen to be what wife had in the basement. Call mine the angry bee. Thanks again love your videos

Thank you, Rod. 😎
Wow
Thanks Markus.
Thanks! I found a nice dog bowl and silverware box that I wanted to try and use for a resonator guitar, but the problem with the neck not fitting where the bowl was kept me from actually proceeding with it. At least now I have an option that might work. =)
Your welcome, James. Thank you for checking it out, and good luck with your dog bowl rez. M~
