Because the Hapburgs were the only option for Austria to be reunited and remain stable as a catholic government. I would love to see part two of this one, where Austria formed the Allied Powers against the Soviet Union and planned to bring Romanvos back into power but as figureheads to the Russian citizens. And he didn't even deny Otto to return, he asked him to come back later in a better time, because no great power supported it. In this timeline I believe Horty would have brought Otto back on the trone immediately
One misconception: Northern Transylvania wasn't majoritary Hungarian land. Not sure where this comes from (maybe people assume Hitler made fair borders?!) but it can be easily checked on Wikipedia on Second Vienna Award/North Transylvania: 50% Romanians, 37% Hungarians according to Romanians, 48% Romanians, 38% Hungarians according to Hungarians. So both sides agree in 1940 that it was majoritary Romanian. Far from settling matters, the Vienna Award had exacerbated relations between Romania and Hungary. It did not solve the nationality problem by separating all Magyars from all Romanians. interesting scenario, but in 1934 austria was also hit with with great depression, austrian army had 50 000 men. I also don't get, why romania would be pressured, if the little entente aliance was still strong and their combined population would be almost triple of austrian(including southern germans annexed in 1934). With all little entente armies mobilized, they could probably have 4.5 million troops. Also, even with intense training, austria can't possibly build up big army in 2 years

This scenario makes Avery little sense in my opinion, I cannot imagine the British allowing France to simply dissolve germany, Keep them in check after attacking Austria? Yes, but dissolving the counry entirely? No way. Britain didn't let France do it after WW1 why would they now? There's also no way Poland would be allowed to annex that much german territory, nor do I think they'd want to. It happened after WW2 because the soviets moved Poland westwards, in this scenario they don't lose any territory in the east, all they would achieve is gaining a big german minority within their borders. Denmark similarly wouldn't be interested in moving the border further south, they had the chance to do that after WW1 but the final borders made a lot of sense, only small German and danish minorities remained own either side if the border, not even the nazis tried to change the border after they occupied Denmark. And why would both France and Britain let Austria take over so many countries? They get rid of germany and then let Austria become a theocratic empire and annex a ton of neighboring countries?
you brought up fair points, but the UK wasnt involved in the war and wouldn't have any say in the peace treaty. Poland wanted more lower silesian lands after ww1 so if the occupied Berlin they could take whatever they wanted while holding the city. Fair point on Denmark, it was just a bit weird having a Hannoverian enclave north of the Kiel canal. France would be preoccupied with their German puppets and wouldn't invade Austria after just allying with them if they were both right wing governments. Austria wasn't really a theocratic empire, they were just a massive federation, sorry if I didn't show that well on the map. Each addition entity was chopped into individual federations that were part of the larger Federal States of Austria. It wasn't direct Austrian rule. Sorry if that didn't make sense. Also, in this timeline, Italy is very strong and allied with both France and Austria, so why would France destroy a strong alliance as the Soviets were growing stronger. The ideology presented in the second part of the video resembles Mussolini's variant of fascism, which makes sense. Its not an ideology that creates wealth, but it would likely maintain stability. It would move the border between western and central Europe to the west, but might last for a while.
The only issue I have with this is that France and Poland have no reason to go to war with Germany other than a land grab of land that they have little to no claim to. Politically that would never work out and historically never has either.
at 11:50 you say that Austria annexes the 'Banat region' but then on the map they dont actually annex the banat region (which is partially owned by romania)
It’d be interesting to see how Britain and France would react to the Soviet invasion. Based off their strategy of appeasement during the early phases of Nazi Germany’s expansion, it’s likely they would go about it the same way, not acting before Poland and Austria have already been overrun

Ok so the territorial loss of Germany Excluding the divisions and creations of new States are, not quite so, realistic, In any conceivable Way… Yes of course Belgium and France would partition the rhineland, But Poland would not Annex Silesia or Königsberg, that Huge influx of German citizens would screw with Polands Politics. @@Videntis.HistoryIdk. I just really want a single timeline with both colonial America and imperial federation. I've seen so many alt histories on both but never a single timeline. Imagine if both Britian and America were far more Powerful in the Early 1900's before ww2 and Cold war Plus America has more Land. And British Empire doesn't Fall only contracts into a smaller more unified constitutional Monarchy. All in the same timeline. Not separate like all other alt-hist youtubers.
@@JTL1776 A scenario where America becomes more imperialist is likely one where they conquer Canada. This isn't mutually exclusive with the imperial federation project, but it would likely mean that there are less countries that are formed out of the federation. I would say a good starting point is one where Napoleon wins the Napoleonic wars and America and France are close allies, with both countries coordinating their spheres of influence, but France begins to lose their grip over Continental Europe by the 1850s, and the UK eventually retaking the mantle of the preeminent world power. Important to note that a Napoleonic victory means more foreign colonies are up for grabs by the British due to not having support from continental rulers.
I am deeply offended by the so called 'Real History' part. It makes Dollfuß into some kind of benign savior figure, something he certainly was not. He was a brutal dictator with all that comes with it. Also, the Austrian Civil War was not fought between the Communists and Austrian Government, but between the paramilitary forces affiliated with the Socialist Party and paramilitary forces of the Dollfuß regime supported by the Austrian police and army, and was the culmination of months of brutal crackdowns against the socialists and workers unions after Dollfuß had illegally suspended the Austrian Parliament in a kind of low key Coup d'Eta. As for being Anti-Racism, Dollfuß himself introduced antisemitic rules into his university-fraternity, and the Austrofashism Regime, while not as antisemitic as nazi-germany, still had strong antisemitic policies and openly discriminated against everything not deemed 'Austrian' in the civil service aka jews Regarding the May-Constitution, and the so-called, and I quote, 'god given human rights', there were no rights guaranteed, that we would recognize as 'Human Rights'. All it did was aknowlage some baisc rights, that on paper sound progressive for the time, but were conditioned on the regime not restricting them, which they were always allowed to do, as they deemed fit, and which - no surprise there - they did restrict during the whole existence of the regime. SO in fact it was not worth the paper it was written on. At least read the Wikipedia Article.

As for your books on Dollfuß, all I can say is, that many books on him written over the last century dont hold up to the standarts of historical research, as the Austrian Peoples Party has since the refounding of Austria tried to downplay Austrofashism, and especially the person Engelbert Dollfuß. I would be highly critical of any biography written by persons with connections to the ÖVP, which, to this day, is involved in the running of a highly controversial Dollfuß Museum, criticized for spreading a false narrativ.

i belive that the brisish, would not let france to have any german land because they need some european major power (on land) thaz could stop the frenches and pressure them in political games alongside with the british.
but as a hungarian i like this ending, like we got our empire back with our lands, trianon got cancelled, main point that romania weakened, and we won't get like half decade long communism. With a heavily chirsian state i belive that hungarian corroption cold be less and the empire gdp and hdi could be on top in europe. With the german and chezh heavy factories alongside the austrian and hungarian light indrustriest we wouldn't have any problem with production. The hungarian agriculture and the raw materials from transilvania could feed the empire. But the political rulers must do something about the differences about nations or else the empire would dissolve itself.

I just read the Austrian republic adopted Reichswehr uniforms after WW1 but Dollfuss reintroduced Austro-Hungarian uniforms.

interesting scenario, but in 1934 austria was also hit with with great depression, austrian army had 50 000 men. I also don't get, why romania would be pressured, if the little entente aliance was still strong and their combined population would be almost triple of austrian(including southern germans annexed in 1934). With all little entente armies mobilized, they could probably have 4.5 million troops. Also, even with intense training, austria can't possibly build up big army in 2 years

This scenario makes Avery little sense in my opinion, I cannot imagine the British allowing France to simply dissolve germany, Keep them in check after attacking Austria? Yes, but dissolving the counry entirely? No way. Britain didn't let France do it after WW1 why would they now? There's also no way Poland would be allowed to annex that much german territory, nor do I think they'd want to. It happened after WW2 because the soviets moved Poland westwards, in this scenario they don't lose any territory in the east, all they would achieve is gaining a big german minority within their borders. Denmark similarly wouldn't be interested in moving the border further south, they had the chance to do that after WW1 but the final borders made a lot of sense, only small German and danish minorities remained own either side if the border, not even the nazis tried to change the border after they occupied Denmark.
And why would both France and Britain let Austria take over so many countries? They get rid of germany and then let Austria become a theocratic empire and annex a ton of neighboring countries?
you brought up fair points, but the UK wasnt involved in the war and wouldn't have any say in the peace treaty. Poland wanted more lower silesian lands after ww1 so if the occupied Berlin they could take whatever they wanted while holding the city. Fair point on Denmark, it was just a bit weird having a Hannoverian enclave north of the Kiel canal. France would be preoccupied with their German puppets and wouldn't invade Austria after just allying with them if they were both right wing governments. Austria wasn't really a theocratic empire, they were just a massive federation, sorry if I didn't show that well on the map. Each addition entity was chopped into individual federations that were part of the larger Federal States of Austria. It wasn't direct Austrian rule. Sorry if that didn't make sense. Also, in this timeline, Italy is very strong and allied with both France and Austria, so why would France destroy a strong alliance as the Soviets were growing stronger. Hope that makes sense and thanks for taking the time to send a fair, respectful comment.

The ideology presented in the second part of the video resembles Mussolini's variant of fascism, which makes sense. Its not an ideology that creates wealth, but it would likely maintain stability. It would move the border between western and central Europe to the west, but might last for a while.
The only issue I have with this is that France and Poland have no reason to go to war with Germany other than a land grab of land that they have little to no claim to. Politically that would never work out and historically never has either.
This is a completely unheard of yet completely plausible alt history. Austria isn't in Danger, Austria is the danger!

Ok so the territorial loss of Germany Excluding the divisions and creations of new States are, not quite so, realistic, In any conceivable Way… Yes of course Belgium and France would partition the rhineland, But Poland would not Annex Silesia or Königsberg, that Huge influx of German citizens would screw with Polands Politics. Also after ww1, immense pressure was put on Denmark to Annex all of Schleswig, But They declined In favour of self-determination. They would never accept the reannexation of territories They didn’t want.

@@JTL1776 A scenario where America becomes more imperialist is likely one where they conquer Canada. This isn't mutually exclusive with the imperial federation project, but it would likely mean that there are less countries that are formed out of the federation.
I would say a good starting point is one where Napoleon wins the Napoleonic wars and America and France are close allies, with both countries coordinating their spheres of influence, but France begins to lose their grip over Continental Europe by the 1850s, and the UK eventually retaking the mantle of the preeminent world power. Important to note that a Napoleonic victory means more foreign colonies are up for grabs by the British due to not having support from continental rulers.
I am deeply offended by the so called 'Real History' part. It makes Dollfuß into some kind of benign savior figure, something he certainly was not. He was a brutal dictator with all that comes with it. Also, the Austrian Civil War was not fought between the Communists and Austrian Government, but between the paramilitary forces affiliated with the Socialist Party and paramilitary forces of the Dollfuß regime supported by the Austrian police and army, and was the culmination of months of brutal crackdowns against the socialists and workers unions after Dollfuß had illegally suspended the Austrian Parliament in a kind of low key Coup d'Eta.
As for being Anti-Racism, Dollfuß himself introduced antisemitic rules into his university-fraternity, and the Austrofashism Regime, while not as antisemitic as nazi-germany, still had strong antisemitic policies and openly discriminated against everything not deemed 'Austrian' in the civil service aka jews
Regarding the May-Constitution, and the so-called, and I quote, 'god given human rights', there were no rights guaranteed, that we would recognize as 'Human Rights'. All it did was aknowlage some baisc rights, that on paper sound progressive for the time, but were conditioned on the regime not restricting them, which they were always allowed to do, as they deemed fit, and which - no surprise there - they did restrict during the whole existence of the regime. SO in fact it was not worth the paper it was written on.

As for your books on Dollfuß, all I can say is, that many books on him written over the last century dont hold up to the standarts of historical research, as the Austrian Peoples Party has since the refounding of Austria tried to downplay Austrofashism, and especially the person Engelbert Dollfuß. I would be highly critical of any biography written by persons with connections to the ÖVP, which, to this day, is involved in the running of a highly controversial Dollfuß Museum, criticized for spreading a false narrativ.

i belive that the brisish, would not let france to have any german land because they need some european major power (on land) thaz could stop the frenches and pressure them in political games alongside with the british.
but as a hungarian i like this ending, like we got our empire back with our lands, trianon got cancelled, main point that romania weakened, and we won't get like half decade long communism. With a heavily chirsian state i belive that hungarian corroption cold be less and the empire gdp and hdi could be on top in europe. With the german and chezh heavy factories alongside the austrian and hungarian light indrustriest we wouldn't have any problem with production. The hungarian agriculture and the raw materials from transilvania could feed the empire. But the political rulers must do something about the differences about nations or else the empire would dissolve itself.
