    Any disadvantage? Guess not considering sometimes there are recepticals fed off switches.
    I was just thinking of modern wire consisting of all the wires in the same sheathing Even when the power is off at the switch and the feeders to the lights are not live, it is best to know where they are in some cases. Hadn't really given this much thought. Actually, pretty good point.

    The only way to be certain that as much is hot as possible while testing is to have current running thru both hot and return wires. Is there a disadvantage to doing it that way?+++Bob
