You asked your question and answered it well too! Using a method that give good results almost all the time is generally why I choose to do thing a certain method. If you get results doing it your method thats great. Thanks for watching! +++Bob

The three most common springs are 38 ,45 and 52 each require different compound degree cuts to have a proper fit of mitres. It may be easier to cut once you have a complete understanding of your material and the angles required for each but my method works for all. +++Bob

I have cut large crown moldings laying flat, however you still have to wrap your head around which end goes where and where your material side goes. To be honest I am not sure if this method works with all springs of crowns available.Google spring angle chart and you will see what I mean. A better suggestion might be why not invest in some crown stops and that suggestion I would agree with!

I've done crown molding a few times and I've always mitred inside corner pieces at 45. I find it faster and could never get a clean cut using the coping method. Just curious why you choose to do it this method as I also noticed you use this method on your floor molding video. My guess is that the coping method would give you a tighter inside joint if the room is not square but a little caulk should take care of that. Great videos nevertheless. Keep up the good work

I'm not a carpenter.... the question is... why don't you cut the 45 degree angles by laying a piece of crown flat on a mitersaw with 31.6 and 34 degrees??? IMO that would be much easier for this kind of crown... u have to play with chopsaw a little more but you dont have to worry about straightening up your crown piece... again I'm not a carpenter... just curious...
