@@AaronandClaire I really wanted to make the Korean bbq recipe but my local Korean Market only had the very thin pork belly, can I still make this recipe with the thin meat, can I use other meat too??
I made doenjang jjigae from your cookbook last night and my husband and I devoured it all! It was so amazing and flavorful and rich! I was a bit sad because I didn't have zucchini or radish, and I had to sub white mushrooms for the shitake mushrooms, but it was still seriously amazing! I can't wait to try it with the proper ingredients, but I'm so glad that it turned out so well even without everything!
I was fortunate enough (thanks uncle Sam) to live in Korea for a year and fell in love with the cuisine. My family drives 45 min-to an hour EVERY Sunday to enjoy Korean food and we always say how awesome it would be if we could make things at home. Your channel is PERFECT! easy to follow recipes with added levity and fun. Glad I found you! Can you do my favorite: Oh Chingo Bokumpap (Spicy Squid)?
My local Korean market was out of cheonsachae, and I was so upset! I ended up with a cucumber kim chee type of salad. I was craving a cool dish. Could you do some nice summer dishes that are cool and refreshing? I bought a tub of doenjang because it was on irresistible sale price. Now I can really enjoy it! Thank you both!!!
I usually make a simple mug soup with mine. One spoon of doenjang, a sprinkle of dashida, a teaspoon of minced garlic, and pepper and korean chili flake to taste. Stir in hot water from the kettle and you have a nice cup of soup if you are in a hurry in the morning or if you just want an easy soup side dish. I eat this with rice and a fried egg for breakfast if I'm feeling lazy. Great episode I was happy to see this after the gochujang episode.
As someone living alone, this concept is also great to apply to a bi-weekly vegetable soup stored in the fridge. I boil a bunch root vegetables in a pot full of dashi broth before adding leafy/softer greens, then store that pot in the fridge for 3-4 days. When I want soup, I take out 2 ladles worth and heat it up until boiling before turning off the heat and adding the ingredients you mentioned! (only takes a few mins longer to reach boiling than the kettle takes) Or you can make Japanese miso soup with miso, tofu, wakame at the end. Very versatile base and great if you want to include some solid veggies in your breakfast. But I totally do what you do when I have no veggies to use up, the flavor is just that great.
Thank you so much for making this video! I had requested it so I feel like you guys are listening which is amazing! Your videos are so awesome and you really help me get creative with ingredients that I have lying around the house and don't know how to use up. I hope we can see a video on different types of miso paste and how to use them, soon!
I just love the way you cook for Claire that is so sweet of you and I love the way Claire describes all the bites that she’s taking and what it taste like you guys make me feel so good when I watch your videos every time on the days that I’m not feeling very good you guys lift my spirits and I just want you to know I thank you for doing this on your channel and on the videos.👍🎈
Been enjoying your videos lately, have been looking up Korean and Japanese Cuisine cuz they seem more healthier than the crap I'm eating now. Plus the dishes look delicious
I ran out to H Mart and gathered everything to cook like you. It is Korean food nearly everyday in my house.....so so good!! Thank you for making Korean cooking easy
I have doenjang in my fridge and I only use it for 1 recipe. Now I know 4 more recipes!! Thanks, as always, for your amazing ideas. Stay safe. Love from 🇨🇦

Girl, during winter, I go to my favorite restaurant that serves soondooboo. I always burn my mouth every time because it’s that good. Haha. I can relate. Thanks for this!
Hello from Nashville Tennessee! Love your videos. I have tried many of your recipes, and enjoyed them. I love how you simplified many recipes, so it can be cooked by anyone, with any level of cooking experience. You make korean food approachable! Thank you. I enjoy your channel. Good recipes and entertaining too. Aaron: " Claire! " Claire: " Mmmm.... bring me some rice!" ....totally adorable! Lol! Great tag lines!
Finally!! I bought this weeks ago instead of black bean paste, so it's just been standing in the fridge, but now I can finally use it on these awesome recipes 😅 yay!
I hope you liked it. I buy whole salted or fermented black beans and make my own black bean paste but recent purchased deungang to try and many of mybrecipes I use black bean paste do beautiful with the bean paste too and its just different enough to mix up my recipes. Even my hubby enjoyed it
I accidently bought the thin slices pork belly (shabu style cut) but it still worked out great! More like a stir fry. Flavor is great. Next time I'm gonna add some gochujang, gochugaru, & whole garlic cloves. Thanks for the great recipes as always ❤
As a Mien person, we have a similar fermented bean paste. We usually eat it by itself or we use it making other recipes. The most popular way to use bean paste is to sauté ground pork, garlic and tomatoes with the bean paste to make a soup base. We also use be a paste to make a cold soup broth for jelly noodles.
Thank you so much, Aaron and Claire, for spicing up our lives with your delicious recipes!! Now I have got always a big jar of prepared sauce for Gochujang Doenjang Muchim in the fridge because I LOVE it. Just tried it with Avocado (yes, you read it correctly, Avocado!) cause I was lacking green pepper or cucumber, and I have to say its a great combination!! South American creaminess meets Korean spiciness, very tasty!
for me its the best Korean Food channel on youtube! Everything is super easy explained and after every episode, i am going straight to the closest Asian shop and buy all parts which are needed and cook for my whole family! Aaron and Clair! Please stay awesome! You are simply great :D
Thanks for all of those great recipes, Aaron! You and Claire always are such a great team…Claire always has great descriptions and is forever enthusiastic to be your taste tester! 😘
SIDE DISHES!!! Aaron and Claire please make an episode of Korean side dishes.. bean sprouts, potatoes, radish, water kimchi..! Please! :) I enjoy all your videos!
Made the Doenjang Jjigae (Korean Soybean Paste Stew) and it is DELICIOUS. Even my husband and in laws love it! I put extra veg into it and they are very picky so anything i can hide veg into is a WIN
Guess I need to pickup Doenjang next time I'm at the store! Going to be making beef bulgogi tonight, and picked up some Perilla leaf just based on videos you two have made that talked about Perilla leaf - I'm so excited to try!
Nope, that's not me. I bought a "korean box" at an online asia foodstore, so I can cook the amazing meals from your videos 😁. And voilá: a reason to open my brand new korean soy bean paste! Excellent🥳
Can't wait to try these recipes 😋 Thank You. I love it whenever I've gone to a Korean restaurant and asked for doenjang paste and the waiters look surprised and say "You like it?"
Yes!! Thank you, I do have a little tub of doenjang in the back of my fridge! I really want to try the marinade for the bbq with chicken or shrimp and make them into Kababs.
Doenjjang is one of my favourite things in my kitchen kingdom. Use it in so many ways. What I need are ways to make use of chunjang. That stuff is hard to use up.
I’m so excited about the soup! I’ve only made doenjang jjigae once after seeing it on a Kdrama Accidental Couple. One of the ladies/owner at the Korean store I befriended help me gather ingredients and it turned out not great! 😅 Lol. Hopefully it’ll turn out better than the first time. Also, one of my favourite phrases you say, “Give them some privacy…” when talking about marinating. Lol. I hope you guys have an awesome week and stay safe! Thanks again^^
