- In my first podcast I talk with Dr Ruth Ann Harpur. She is a clinical psychologist with experience and expertise in relationships, and different personality types. We had a chat about the dynamics that take place in unhealthy, toxic, abusive relationships, some of the obstacles to recovery, the impact of abuse and some ideas to help navigate a better future.
This podcast should be available on most podcasting platforms

“Sometimes I think you have to be ok with being the villain in someone else’s story.” Thank you.
This comment alone helps a lot.
❤
Sometimes being the villain can be fun 😈😉
Hi Darren. I've found it takes time -- sometimes a lot of time -- to break free from toxic people. But, eventually, it happens.
Exactly this. Ive come out of 11 of them, one after another since I was 14 and it took on average 2-4 years on each because they are SO HARD to rid. They completely PANIC when one leaves snd start stalking which is incredibly pressuring so one gives in.
Narcissm " The fear of not being Special" Brilliant, Thanks.
❤
Wow, you guys hit so many raw nerves. Love the fact that you need to be okay with being the villain in someone's story.
❤
Thank you so much for this Darren and Ruth, Absolutely tremendous, I self validate and approval, And the best revenge is no revenge, The best revenge is to be unlike him, Keep up the good work and keep shining light and speaking truth on this subject, Peace, love, Respect to you both and everyone, Thank you universe, All glory to the universe, The most high God is great 💚💛💜❤🐶☘🌞🦄🤗🌌🌲🕊🐎😊🌝😃🦁🐉✌🌹😘
Very true about connecting with people. I went through awful time with ex bpd gf and it really helped when I opened up and sought help and was just honest with what was going on and spoke to friends and a few others. It really helped me realize I was being abused by her.
New format (interview), Love it!
Oh wow, Ruth! Lightbulb moment! “We want to make ourselves needed so we don’t get abandoned, but we never really know if we are wanted”…😮…how can we address this?? It has always been my MO….thank you for your work .
Something that has helped me is to slow down…a small example is not jumping in the car and slamming the door but getting in slowly and gently shutting the door.
Practice being a little more demanding, saying no to people, doing things differently to what you do now and observe the results - HTH ❤
Thank you! Great advice! Looking forward to your podcasts! Thank you as well Dr Harpur. Will check out your channel
Thank you for the very sensible and sound wisdom offered here. I hope you have her on again.
Thanks!
Happy to come back if Darren will have me!
Great presentation.
❤
Are there common petsonality traits amongst the victims of narcissists? In my brief experience, the more hopeful and compassionate the person, the more likely they are to become a target.
