Ahh, memories... They played this at our prom, and one of the guys started walking around the dance floor pretending he had a camera.(that's what we used to take pictures back then). If he pointed it at you, you would "freeze" while he "snapped". He really played it up, he would squat down, tilt the "camera", acting like a fashion photographer.
Did he say "Pout baby pout"? LOL.
Saw these guys back in 82’ with friends in high school. Half the people were wearing painters overalls with bright paint on them.
High school reunion is actually this coming Saturday. 40 years.
Cool watching these young kids enjoying these old videos.
Those the days. Race home to see the new MTV video and spend weekends having MTV parties.
Oh how you wish your friend actually had a camera back then… what memories would have have been captured and shared with the next generation.
@@trinidadnow How many good memories were all but lost but in the minds of people of years past because the costs of cameras back then. Really not all that long ago if you think about it.
Cameras are still around 😂
This band is one of the most forgotten about, great bands from the 70s and 80s. Many great songs, great musicians, Peter Wolfe was a great frontman. Very fun, rocking and rolling band.
Definitely react to more J. Geils Band .
To me Peter Wolf was one of the first rappers, lol
@@aviatom1 ---- you actually are kinda correct. Because he didn't sing in the traditional sense, even as far as rock vocalists go. Most don't sing but keep a melodic pace and stretch words in tones.
But, Peter did speak his lyrics that rhyme in a rapping style.
I never really thought about that before you mentioned it.
Thanks, for bringing that up.
I thought Jim Halpert was their front man. :)
J. Geils early stuff is the best! "Ain't Nothin' but a House Party" and "Musta Got Lost" are must listens to appreciate this band. Gotta listen to the live versions from their "Blow Your Face Off" album from the 70's. The live intro to "Musta Got Lost" is worth its weight in gold. Classic.
True! Saw them in 76 in San Francisco with Jeff Beck. Peter jumped like a mad man. We had back stage passes and got to see them closeup.
I was born in '65 and introduced to J. Geils Band when I was only about 10 or 12 yrs old. I have older sisters and they had boyfriends that were/are musicians and in bands and lucky for me, maybe not my sisters but I got to hang out with them and was introduced to all kinds of music and as I got older I was getting into nightclubs in L.A. underage, starting around 15 yrs old to see bands play that were already famous or just getting a record deal.
J. Geils Band was always a favorite band of everyone and cassettes and 8 tracks being blasted from cars stereos while partying in the hills or beach or desert or at a "House Party".
That band's musicianship was top notch. I got to see them live twice, one small club and one at a huge festival. Both great shows
J. Geils bummed me in a public toilet once...oh wait, no that was Gay Giles
I hadn't really heard of them until the neighbor kids were playing "One Last Kiss" on the radio during their garage band break.(In the 70's it seemed like every suburban kid got an electric guitar and practiced the opening cords to "Smoke on the Water" for hours on end.)
Then came "Love Stinks" a little later.
By the time "Freeze Frame" and "Centerfold" came out the band was at the tail end of their existence.
Southside shuffle...monkey island
.chimes
Lex's reaction is soooooooooo genuine... she really gets the music.... it's so refreshing to see spmeone so young with an appreciation for "music" and real music too... keep it up girl
No,she doesn't. It's pretentious
@@thomassamburgh5904 OK, edgelord
@@Johnny_Socko thank you
You're right. It's completely fake. She compares bands to food and he switches between looking terminally constipated and perpetually confused. I'm not even a particular fan of the Pet Shop Boys, but I just watched him scowl in confused constipation while she talked about "West End Girls" makes her think of a "seafood boil".
@@SaltyPirate71 what's amazing to me is their Grift and the dumb asses that send them all the free stuff.
"Peter Wolf", has to be one of the coolest "Rock/ Funk front men in Rock and Roll.
The J Giles Band just had that "Cool" factor. Peter Wolf is like the American version of Mick Jagger.
Peter Wolf was also married at one time to Faye Dunaway of "Bonnie and Clyde" fame...et al...Rock ON!!
It's always been said that Steve Tyler is the American Mick Jagger
Wow! This brings back memories of my teenage years in a dance club on Sat nights having a good time. Their song Centerfold is just as good! Watching Lex is exactly how I remember it making us feel.
Lex is such a beautiful soul
This is one of the best bands to see in concert. I've seen them five times.
J. Geils had their most commercial success with this album but man they had so many bangers from the earlier albums and they were one of the funnest live bands out there. I saw them at the old Boston Garden just before they broke up for a while. My favorite recently is Sanctuary from the album of the same name.
This was such a huge dance hit back when I was in college.
Early J. Geils Band is the way to go…1970’s. I’d love to have you react to “Hard Drivin’ Man”, the LIVE version from their album “Full House Live “. It’s much better than the studio version. On the album, the song that precedes it(and leads right into it) is “Whammer Jammer “, harmonica solo by Magic Dick, and it’s crazy good. When I was in high school our great FM station always played these 2 back to back, and it makes for a great listen! Their early work is heavy R&B, funk and soul infused. Another great is “Give It To Me “, BUT- it must be the long album version. Great instrumental section in the long version. Hope you can get to these. I’ve been trying to get others to do these but have had no luck. It’s sad that the Freeze Frame album gets more attention than their fantastic early music.
Oh Hell yea that entire live album was great!
Can I hear a shout out for Monkey Island?
Lookin' For A Lover is another deep-cut rager.
There’s a local station that started working Whammer Jammer/Hard Drivin Man back into their rotation. Hasn’t aged a bit. Still rips.
Wife here...Wore this record out for sure!!..J.Geils were an early to mid eighties sensational party band..!!..Early MTV... when it was AWESOME 👌!!..Love the reproducing of sound Lex!!❤
Early to mid seventies!!! Blow your face out!
They were one of the top live acts back in the day. This was them at their commercial peak.
Saw the J Geils Band a couple of times in the early 70's, i had blast ! They were very energetic .
Doubt anyone's going to care much about this, but the Yamaha keyboard seen in this music video is a long out of production synthesizer model CS-80 whose sound was made most famous by the recently deceased Vangelis on both the 'Chariots of Fire' & "Blade Runner" soundtracks. The instruments had a retail price of just under $7K when they came out in the late 70s… recently (meaning over the last 2-3 years) they are selling between $50K - $100K to collectors when one comes on market.
This was a great live band back in the 70’s… just a tight blues based bar band from Boston… First I look At The Purse, Whammer Jammer, Sanctuary… Monkey Island
I remember when this album came out as it was a little controversial because their fans thought they “sold out” and started writing “pop” songs that were very different from their more blues rock.
Just Love the joy in Lex,priceless!!
Still the only rock band I ever saw that had the crowd dancing from the opening gun to the end of the finale.
One of the all time great party bands. Peter Wolfe is a beast.
I saw the Geils Boys in the late 70’s at UCSB in So Cal. You couldn’t tell where the band ended or the crowd began. Just an amazing live band.
Saw them again opening for the Stones and they just killed it!
Music had just caught up to them when this album came out!
Best club band! They were awesome in concert. Used to see them at the Garden - they are a Boston band! Try “Centerfold” 😃
Worcester Massachusetts.
J. Geils had so many great songs, and with different "flavor" to each. Check out "Love Stinks" and " I Do". Unique vibes!
I bet Brad and/or Lex will say "That's the song Adam Sandler sang on Wedding Singer"
This band is from my home city of Worcester Massachusetts! I absolutely love this band! So so so many great hits!
This video was in very heavy rotation when MTV first went on the air in 1981. It helped accelerate the station's popularity.
In my opinion, they were the best pure rock and roll band America ever produced!
1982! You gotta do “I Do!” Another J Geils classic. A freeze frame is a photograph.
Best live rock band of the 1970s...They were my first concert as the opener for Jethro Tull at Hartford's Colt Park.
Lots of fun songs from the 80's, Corey Hart "I wear my sunglasses at Night", Greg Kihn "Breakup Song"
The absolute best live band ever!
Greatest Live band to ever grace a Rock N Roll Stage !
Y’all gotta hear the flip slide of this called “Flamethrower.” I had the record and also loved it,probably the best-🤔😁
This band was never too serious about thier music--just good time party rock n roll--I saw 'em live in 82 and it was a downright fun show!!
I was in middle school when this came out. I don’t see music like this anymore… you know, the kind where your body starts dancing before you’re even aware!
This band finally hit it big with Love Stinks and Centerfold, By the time they did Freeze Frame, they were having fun
They hit it big in the 70s with musta got lost, the blow your face out album was played at every party
Okay. Musta got lost hit in 1974. They faded to oblivion until Love Stinks. 1980
If they hit it big, they would’t have faded into no air play in the next 6 years.
Centerfold is on the Freeze Frame album.
@@chrisb9577 Right and this video was made after Centerfold . So they were having fun. like I said,
man the start of mtv days... I was that 6yo watching videos like this... love this song... loved JGB...
"Full House " is one of the best Live LP ever. Has all their best songs
Agree 100%!! Love me some J. Geils Band - Full House!!!
It was a big back then in '72. Got my copy.
I used to dance around the house to this song when I was 4 or 5 years old. It was a regular in our household.
One of Boston's best bands from the 70's through today, RIP to J. Geils himself, but the others are still going strong. Their whole catalog is worth a listen, especially their early stuff. It ROCKS.
Full house, my first album, the wolfa goofa, blow your face out baby, great band. One of my first concerts too, great times.
Lex knows how to have a good time! Thank you for great reaction 😊
Ooooo we all loved this in junior high school and especially Centerfold 😅
This group was HUGE during this time in the early 80s…but alas all good things come to an end…fast forward a few years…Peter Wolf solo “Lights Out”
Memories. J. Geils Band was BIG during my HS daze, and seeing Lex bebopping & lol-ing is GREAT.
One of the best albums to play when a party needs a kick in the @$$
Awww! I used to listen to this and Centerfold all the time...good memories from Middle School dances!
This takes me back. Great vibes great song.
One of the great dance songs when you're out on the floor and everybody goes "Wooooo!!".
One of my all time favorite bands..
One of the greatest party bands.. Many hits in there career.. intro
Peter Wolf vocals
J Giels (Jerome) Guitar.. R.I.P. Great One
Seth Justrum Keyboards
Daniel Klein Bass..
Steven Jo Bladd Drums
Magic Dick. Harmonica. This man is a master.
There greatest album Bloodshot true Masterpeice
They were around in the early 70s, putting out solid, blues based rock 'n roll. It took til the 80s for the culture to catch up with them. The instrumental of theirs from 1971, _Whammer Jammer,_ is worth a listen. Put it in a playlist with Blues Traveler and it fits right in
J. Geils "It ain't what you do but how you do it."
A great, fun, and happy song by the J Geils Band is "I Do".
I seen this band in Vegas back in 1981 it was a fun concert.
freeze frame is like pausing the video. "these freeze frame moments can't be wrong", I think he's saying his life is like a movie to him and he's going to remember and keeping coming back to his moments with someone special.
Saw them in concert many moons ago and I agree with them LOVE STINKS.
If you were from the St. Louis area and grew up in the 70s/early80s you will never forget this song as the theme to D.B.'s Delight. A gameshow for kids with a very special host.
Agree with others, J Geils had some great songs, especially early on or in a live setting. Try Serves You Right to Suffer, a killer tune amongst many. They were an energy source back in the 70s in concert, tons of fun! Enjoy. 🎵
Funny Lex associated this song with Come On Eileen - from the time both came out I always felt they had something in common too!
What ???
A friend of my sister’s did the cover art for this album. Made me love it even more!
Takes me back to my Senior year of high school.😎
LEX WAS FEELING IT LOL. AWESOME
J. Geils was the BEST Live Party Band EVER!!!
Can’t go wrong with a band who’s sax player is named “Magic Dick”!! 😂😂😂
Then he’s a sex player! 😆
Jay Brother Jay Giles that band's got a song it's called the the name of this song is called give it give it give it to me and that J geils oh damn I don't know how many speakers I blew up on that song if that tells you anything there brother hey think about it all right
Brother when you hit that volume you hit it way up there and you played it there to hold them song bro damn speakers to hell
Wait for Peter Wolf on that song Peter Wolf the singer when he quit singing I don't give it to me go ahead and crank it three quarters and gradually keep
Watched this live, and I'm so glad I did, as this was a song from my childhood I totally forgot about and didn't know the name of. 💖
INCREDIBLE live band!!! Check out the "Blow Your Face Off" live album versions of "House Party" & "Musta Got Lost." Many bands were fearful of Geils opening for them & blowing them off the stage.
Maybe the greatest concert I ever attended was JJ Geils Band the headliner and the opening acts wee Joe Walsh and ZZ Top. I think the opener was REO Speedwagon.
I have no idea what it's supposed to be about, but it makes me want to goof around and take pictures. Hold my beer and watch this!
This was a big song, very popular. Definitely in some movies. They're a fun, creative band
Such a fun song - and the 'companion piece' is their song CENTERFOLD. Kodachrome is a type of color film used in cameras. The 35 mm Single Lens Reflex(SLR) camera was the standard for professional photographers.
A true feel good song.
Party time all the time with this band.. this album sold more than any of their other ones and had multiple hits on it.. but as others mentioned the 70's J.Geils is well worth listening to.. Angel In Blue is another hit from this album too.. Lex definitely got this one.. lol
A classic! Love this band and song! Centerfold next!
Brad & Lex, you'll love their "Must of Got Lost" and "Give It To Me"!
Give it to me is just too good !!
Give it To Me is AWESOME ✌️
Musta got lost with intro from Blow your face out must be emphasized or Brads surely going to play the wrong version! If you change it to Musta it would help.
Freeze Frame! Peter Wolf went solo after this.
Suddenly I’m in 1981 at the town community centre’s Friday roller skating night. Thanks for the flash back, LOL.
This song was huge in 5th grade. My friend used to blast it on the bus ride home on his tape recorder. I'm that old.
Another JUMPING tune from J Geils Band. I've been a fan since seeing them at a club in Misquamicut Rhode Island in the early 70's. Also another great reaction from Brad & Lex.
I loved this tune when it first came out. Then the radio stations decided to play 25 times every day for a year. Now I tolerate it.
Now you're in my Junior High! Loved it!! Peace, Love!!
Freeze frame refers to the still image (or frame) displayed when a video is paused (or frozen).
Don’t forget with most of these 80’s videos , they were made for MTV. One had to be weirder than the next to catch your attention. ✌🏼❤️
Great rockers back in the day. Thank you for the flash back!
Ok,,,you're getting closer. Musta Got Lost,,,live. It's SPECIAL!!!! 💥💥💥👍😎
This band owned Metro-Detroit for years.
Just plain fun.
My favorite hockey team ( The Rochester Americans uses this as their goal song. Hopefully, I'll be hearing it often when I go up there over Christmas.
Whole album is great. I love some of the deep cuts - River Blindness and Insane Insane Again especially.
Lex is one of THE most lovable women in all of UA-cam-verse!!
It wasn't cameras that were new since they have been around since the 1800s but it was autowinders that were new in the 1980s that allowed people to take pictures in rapid succession at three frames a second to capture the action in a "freeze frame" I used to love the sound the my autowinder made
A song about taking pictures and another about a guy finding out his ex from HS is a centerfold (Centerfold)...ALL on the same album.
Some stuff in old videos is difficult for younger people to interpret. Some of the things that seem misplaced are related to trends alive at that time. And when a special effect seems random that's often because they were. But having a video being the first to feature a new technological idea was guaranteed to attraction, whether it was early green screen use in a rock video, or the camera effect that saw The Matrix change how movies are shot.
The lead singer is Peter Wolf. If you live in Boston or Cambridge there is a good chance you'll see him around as he wears all black.
I Love you two beautiful peautiful people! You two have a synergy that matches nobody else! Brad has the analytical skills! (for sure) Lex is the Beautiful!! , Fun , knowledgeable Young Lady ......She knows something about music..
..beautiful..
Lex, she be groovin from the get go
I almost died and got crushed at the stage at a J Geils concert. No assigned seating. Like a Who Concert in Cincinnati.
At the Joe?
Lex has that kinda laugh to cheer anyone up! 🙂
Love,d their Santuary Album! blue,sy
very cool album" Santuary, One last Kiss, Theresa, whole album" rivaled ac/dc s Powerage album back then!
J. Geils was a long lived 60/70's band and in the early 80's was part of my High School soundtrack, all before MJ's Thriller album and Madonna. Supertramp, The Cars, Blondie, Cheap Trick, The Pretenders, Pat Benatar, ACDC...That was the best music of the 80's. I cringed at most of the popular music through the rest of the 80's except for Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, John Cougar and a few others. My personal favourites like Neil Young, the Rolling Stones and the Moody Blues were going through changes.
An early 80's Reaction suggestion is from another long lived 60/70's band is The Voice by The Moody Blues.
“The Voice”-good suggestion from the MB’s “Long Distance Voyager” album.
back at the time these guys were popular in England the DJs used to announce them as the J GELLIS band I guess nobody bothered to tell them they were wrong
Now you should do their song....Centerfold!!!❤️🔥❤️🔥💯
They reviewed that song already
He told you when to pause the song. he said, NOW FREEZE, and you paused it. Then you said, no good spot to pause it, pretty funny
