Weezer songs are super catchy, unique and generally "a vibe". Dont overthink them. Just feel them.
This song is in your head forever now. It's so stupid but memorable you can sing the hook after hearing it once. Years from now you'll be puttering around the house and this song will just pop into your head.
Yup, what is this song 20+ years old, and it still randomly pops into my head lol.
So true!
@@kennylaysh2776 almost 30 years old.
27 years since I first heard this song and I'm still bowled over by its ridiculous, stupid genius. Especially when accompanied by the video.
It’s about a relationship unraveling. Hardly stupid. Maybe it’s you?
Weezer is genius. Once their songs gain roots in you you will understand. More Weezer please. Do the Buddy Holly official video. You won’t be disappointed
genius...? okay...
Their early stuff was ace. The new stuff is lame.
@@blacklodgecooper9328 white was astounding, ewbaite was great, ok human was ok, van weezer was, there, so they got some good stuff in my humble opinion.
This is the way.
I bleed by pixies
Weezer sounds exactly as they intended their sound to be.
Well said, my friend.
Except this is what Rivers Cuomo described as "Me unintentionally ripping off Metallicas Welcome Home Sanitarium"
Weezer's song are really well-crafted, and the lyrics are intelligent, funny, self-deprecating, etc. The only comparable group from the 90s that I can think of is Cake. Cake's sound is different, more ska and less punk, but I love them both.
Cake is bad ass. Im not sure they ever released a sub par album. Unlike weezer.
@@BockwinkleB They need to delve into Cake. I think I’d suggest the official video for “Short Skirt / Long Jacket”. The song if great and the video is genuinely funny (it’s actually a video of initial reactions, so PERFECT for Brad & Lex). 😎
"Less punk" weezer is no where near punk what so ever
1000%
Weezer punk? Weezer were in the lo-fi wave with Pavement!
I've been into Weezer since high school. The song "In the garage" got me through high school. Made me feel like I wasn't alone. It is still to this day my favorite song.
In the garage was a great coping song for me as well.
Weezer is a vibe. In the Garage is one of my favs.
Damn, I just suggested Holiday as the next but In the Garage is great too; that whole album!
Probably my fav off the blue album
As an X-Men nerd, I sure dug the shout out to Kitty Pryde...and Nightcrawler, too.
Their frontman, Rivers Cuomo, was in a metal band before Weezer. You can still hear the metal influences in his guitar playing and solos. Their guitar tone has always pretty chunky, which would generally be more associated with metal bands as opposed to alt rock.
Yes he calls this song "Me unintentionally ripping off Metallicas 'Welcome Home (Sanitarium)"
Like I said when you did Say It Ain't So, the whole Blue album is great; Holiday at the top of my list for the next song.
I'd have to go with the world has turned. Just my opinion
@@IMAGE_NT_HEADERS I know my friend.. you R absolutely right! Weezer is a justifiable guilty pleasure. If we listen to the first two weezer albums we see what it means. The great thing about weezer is that they are true to themselves. Also it's badass how after these decades they still "give and give and give"
@@IMAGE_NT_HEADERS that song was the best way to end that album
But when we wake it's all been erased.. and so it seems. Those were glory days
Why doesn't anyone talk about maladroit?! If that's how it's spelled. That's one of their hardest albums! Whatev... weezargh is badass regardless
I don't know if it was the intention lyrics, but I always saw this as metaphorical. About somebody basically forcefully removing your protection, or societal "cocoon", and leaving you emotionally naked.
That’s exactly what it is!!
The song is about someone having a mental breakdown and going insane
It's about being friend-zoned by someone you like.
It’s about all these things :)
Island in the Sun, Hash Pipe and Beverly Hills is a must. They’d make a nice starter kit.
I said these same songs in the last video.
Island in the sun is my favorite
The 3 worst songs they wrote lol
@@F28ajlol
All those songs suck
This whole album is the soundtrack of my 1994... Was my favorite album, met my wife of now 25 years, and it always takes me back to that time!! The beauty of music, in my opinion, is the ability to essentially Time Travel through melody!!!
A wonderful thing. 🤙🏻❤
Weezer describes themselves as “nerd rock”. They’ve got a pretty solid catalog. 6 number 1 songs and 19 top 10 songs on Billboard
I think that is called math rock.
@@keithgraham8588 I just remember them describing their music in an interview years ago and calling it nerd rock. Seems spot on.
“In The Garage” says it all.
@@keithgraham8588 no that's something else
@@keithgraham8588 nah, math rock is its own thing. It's a derivative of Emo, if i'm not mistaken. Definitely closer to Emo than it is to 90s alternative
@@keithgraham8588 No.
This album and the one after (Blue and Pinkerton) are honestly perfect. Not a single song you'd skip. So if you're gonna do an album reaction, those two would be great choices.
Pinkerton is excellent.
Totally missed out on the Pinkerton album as a teen as it was nowhere to be found on the radio. Pink Triangle would be my suggestion off that album.
@RockMeAmadeus The White Album has some great songs like Do You Wanna Get High, Girl we got a good thing, king of the world.
This was their first big single, the song that introduced me and a lot of 90s kids to Weezer, way back in the day.
I would love to see you two react to “Only In Dreams” by Weezer from the same album as this song. I think it’s a masterpiece and their greatest song.
You might like these Weezer songs: Buddy Holly, El Scorcho, Hash Pipe, Pork and Beans and Island in the Sun. I would love to see you react to The Pixies: Where is my Mind and Here Comes Your Man are the most known .
Yep, all of the above
Always have liked Weezer, was not till I saw them live that I truly realized their genius. They are super entertaining live. Love this band.
Yeah. I love their guitar interludes that reveal the secret metal band lurking beneath the surface.
This is by far my favorite Weezer album, there's maybe 1 song I didn't really like on it. You gotta do more Weezer BLUE ALBUM , My name is Jonas, In the Garage, you guys rock!!
Totally agree. Even the outtakes from that album like "Jamie" and "Suzanne" are tremendous songs. I always felt like "Surf Wax America" was underrated.
It's the one album that truly puts me to sleep. I know that sounds like an insult but it's anything but, just a feeling of total relaxation. Songs like the world has turned & No one else. Only in dreams is the perfect ending to the album.
The garage song is great. That one always spoke to me.
OOOOWEEEEOOOOO I LOOK JUST LIKE BUDDY HOLLY!!!
"Islands In The Sun" by Weezer, it's laid-back, but watch the video, even stone face Brad will be perma-smiling.....maybe.
btw - it may be labeled Spike Jonze version.
Yes! This used to be one of my brother’s favorite groups. It took me a bit longer for them to grow on me. I love Weezer! They are AMAZING 🤩 💕
So interesting fact about this song, the opening riff is a slowed-down "welcome home sanitarium" by Metallica. I never noticed it until I saw an interview with the guitarist who said he was playing some Metallica songs when he realized he leached off their song with this song. There is also some hack country singer that uses the same riff in a song called bottoms up.
Bloody Hell mate, I can't believe I've never picked up on that before and I've heard both this and Sanitarium so many times over the last few decades. Now you've mentioned it, it sounds so obvious! This is what I love about youtube. I think I know a lot about music, then I remember I still have so much to learn even at 48 years old haha!
Do Buddy Holly by Weezer. You guys will dig it.
With the video
Yes and yes absolutely with the video!
Yes, original video, no lyrics crap.
I'm not the biggest Weezer Fan...that song "Buddy Holly" I liked though!!
You've got to dig the vibe to appreciate the song.. Good times, I was young and free full of dreams
Love this band!!!!
I call it "Dork Rock"😁👍
ha ha ha ha..........sweet
This has nothing to do with the song, but Brad you're now a reaction gif on Facebook 😂😂 I just saw it about 20 minutes ago. I was like THAT'S BRAD 😂
If you want an odd but fun Weezer song, check out El Scorcho.
That's my fav Weezer song
Tired of sex! Pink triangle!
You should do "Hash Pipe" by Weezer. Way more Lexs type of sound and a great song that Brad would also enjoy
I second that!
So much more Weezer. The song “Buddy Holly” from the same album as this song and “Say It Ain’t So” put them on the map but basically the whole blue album is fire. “In The Garage”, “The World Has Turned…”, “Only In Dreams”, songs from other albums “Pork and Beans”, “Hash Pipe”, “Island In The Sun”. They have a huge catalog.
Love this song. Thanks for reacting. Turn it up is right Lex!
This is the first Weezer song I ever heard back when it came out, we jammed to it all summer long, great times. Weezer has a lot of great tracks, they're lots if fun.
This is a song on Weezer's Blue album. It was released in 1994, a time where people would listen to the whole album, not just one or two songs. This song is confusing, because you kind of have to listen to the other songs on the album for it to make a lot of sense. This song is specifically aboug the singer going crazy and losing his mind. Not only does no one around him notice, but they are unintentially pulling threads from his sweater, unraveling his sanity faster. The song ends with him naked on the floor, having come "undone".
weezer is my favorite band, always feels like im hanging with the boys playing music to the mood we in at the moment
"Buddy Holly" please.
The variation between hard-hitting music with goofy lyrics, hard-hitting music with deep lyrics and that doo-wop song shows you just how creatively genius they are.
Gotta do "The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived." It's Weezer's Boehemian Rhapsody.
Also, some more recent Weezer that totally bangs is "Back to the Shack"
Great reaction. I hope you react to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - The Impressions That I Get.
im actually so happy u did this one, the whole album has this vibe, older weezer songs had a somewhat bittersweet sound in a really good way. Their 2nd album pinkerton, is more raw and weird in its own right, id love to see some of those reactions too
To keep going the path with punk songs about clothing, check out:
"SHORT SKIRT/LONG JACKET" by Cake
I love weezer & i love this song. Such an amazing group. One of the few rock bands i like
Brad & Lex, you guys need to react to the Official videos of Weezer's "Beverly Hills" and "Hash Pipe". Both are great bangers and the lyrics aren't complicated, so the official versions are preferred (especially for Beverly Hills, which features a party at The Playboy Mansion)!
Weezer is one of my all time favorite bands!!! You guys gotta do Pork and Beans!
I love pork and beans
Violent Femmes Blister in the sun
Check out In the Garage, or The World Has Turned and Left Me Here. Weezer is wonderful!
Double Edged Sword...."In The Garage" has outstanding lyrics on one hand, I dont think Brad would get the lyrics on the other hand.
Gotta watch the "BUDDY HOLLY" VIDEO! 😁
I saw them open for Spin Doctors at the Greek Theater in LA!!! Very fun!!🎶👌🎵👍🎼✌️😁
I went to a concert once. The band was taking forever, I think it was an offspring concert. Anyways, this song came on over the loud speakers and I still remember the whole crowd swaying back and forth singing the song. Lol fun memory.
Idea for upcoming livestream: "Songs For Brad That Sound Like They Could Have Been On Tony Hawk Games But Werent". Try to find some that fit the bill and have good lyrics. That'd be fun.
One of the best! They do a great cover of “Africa” by Toto. Hell of a voice
This whole album is a banger
JUST WHEN I FINALLY THOUGHT I HAD GOT THIS SONG OUT OF MY HEAD! GEE THX BRAD N LEX!
That was super confusing. "I'm not supposed to like this but I like this." Says who?! Don't ever let someone tell you what you should or shouldn't like. Also gotta get to Surf Wax America, Island in the Sun, and Hash Pipe
And Buddy Holly!
The Blue Album is a banger from start to finish 💯 I think you'd like some of their fun songs - Check out "Beverly Hills", " Buddy Holly", "Pork and Beans" , Island in the Sun, or Hash Pipe
This whole blue album is a start it and listen ...its great every single song..just a wonderful listen!!
I love you guys so much! Always checking out songs I love!
Weezer songs are super catchy. To be honest, there is another song out there called Sweater Weather by the Neighborhood, also pretty damn catchy. For a minute, I thought that is what you were listening to, but yeah this is a good song too.
Dude, I've picked up on your shimmy. Jamming in the car, I move side to side now. Thanks for the dance moves!
My second favorite band after Queen!!!
More Weezer please =w=
If you like the "skate" sound, Bad Religion is the OG harder-edged side of it. "Supersonic", "American Jesus", and "Generator" are good entry points ("Suffer" is too). If you go back to their early EPs, when there were more hardcore punk, "Fuck Armageddon... This Is Hell" is one of my favorites (also, I believe, the band was all between the ages of 16-18, and it really shows). Two of my personal favorites are "Drunk Sincerity" and "A Walk". I think Brad would enjoy dissecting the lyrics of any of these songs.
Sorrow is my BR fave.
@@sarahzentexas also solid!
90’s sounds for sure. Remember when this came out. This would never have been popular outside of that 90’s scope. A lot of music is like that
I always interpreted the meaning of this song to be about extroverts forcing introverts to come out of their comfort zone and how it really makes the introvert feel exposed rather than being a good experience like the extrovert expects. Just me.
Suggestions from this same album: in the garage and the world has turned and left me here. Both are A++
Weezer - Beverly Hills, please please please.
First Weezer song I heard. Still my fav.
The end the song almost sounds like it kills itself it is bizzare. Instead of a traditional cohesive safe, played easy sound, they almost took the entire thing over the edge of the cliff to end it.
In My Garage is a good 1. It ROCKS DUDE!!
This is my FAVORITE Weezer song!! I'm so glad y'all did this one!!!
Mr. Pause at the exact WRONG TIME almost every time, LOL
I do love the Weezer!! They're genius and really original!! ❤️👍
I love how at the end, the song just unravels.
Great break up song.
By the way, it's "hold this thread", the lyric video got it wrong (it says "pull), and it kinda makes a difference in the metaphor. The other person doesn't pull they just stand there while he does all the unraveling himself by walking away.
WEEZER: Good Life, Buddy Holly, Pork & Beans, El Scorcho, or Hash Pipe next please!
Weezer - Buddy Holly gotta be next!
If you want to destroy my pink housecoat.. pull this tab as I walk away
Weezer - "In The Garage" is the story of my gen's youth......
Oh man this song. I had it on cassette tape and it was one of my first CDs. 100% wallet chain music :)
I always called it the Buddy Holly song, haha. It just came out and my friend came blasting it into my driveway. My Dad happened to be outside and he was a big fan of 50's music, AKA Buddy Holly. My friend, Keith yelled at my Dad and said "Hey Ronny! You like Buddy Holly? I got a new Buddy Holly song you never heard." My Dad goes over to the truck and listens as he cranks it up loud. My Dad stared at him with a silly look on his face and said "what's wrong with you, boy?" He wouldn't make a pimple on Buddy Holly's Ass." Then he laughed. We all thought it was funny.
Weezer brings back so many memories listen to their track only in dreams song is fire
Always sound on point to this day live too!
Ah man. Totally remember the first time I heard this on the radio. Driving to a soccer match in high school.
One of my favorite songs of all time
The video for their "Pork and Beans" song is a compilation of early UA-cam memes, and a must-watch.
Ric Ocasek produced Weezer's Blue Album. You should check out some of the songs he wrote and performed for The Cars.
They put themselves through Harvard and weezer was born. Musically genius intended
i love both reactions lol she was like, i like it but the was like nerrreaaarrrrr.... but it went hard lol love it. weezy is cool. gotta try nirvanas unplugged, i like where did you sleep last night.
Only In Dreams is a definite must.
Best outro of any song IMO 👌
That haunting outro at the very end just reminded me, you guys should react to _One Armed Scissor_ by At the Drive-In !
Only in dreams is a great weezer song
That album is perfect
Anyone who hung out in/with garage bands in the 90s understands the energy of this song.
The legendary Spike Jones made some of their videos including this one and the Buddy Holly song. The video for this song is great. The video for Buddy Holly is epic.
The 90s were amazing
That was one of the biggest songs out when i was in high school.
Weezer just makes you feel good its just awesome music. Not anything technical just feels good
Weezer is every kid in middle school/high school that played dungeons and dragons then learned to play guitar. Then wrote songs about it. Love it. Double damage!
This song brings back memories. Love Island in the Sun
Yes!! More Weezer please! They are so incredible!
Thanks for more Weezer! If you want more, I would suggest In The Garage. Happy Thanksgiving!
This is one of those songs where it’s a disservice to this song to read the lyrics lol
