Can we bring back roller skating clubs now? Flying down the arena with this song, colored lights flashing everywhere, and the sounds of arcade machines, 80's magic.
Wife here..Wore this record out!!...J.Geils Band was known as a great party band in the eighties..Just Great 80's Rock and Roll..Thank you for enjoying and appreciating this Awesome jem!!..I'll still blast these guys!!
Watching you vibe to the music was the same thing we were doing back then. The music and the beat just set you to dancing and that's all we cared about. I hope you explore more of the early to mid 80's dance music. I miss it so much !!
In my youth, (i was young once), i have been to many, many concerts and NOBODY put on a show like the J. Geils Band, they would engage the entire audience at times and you left the show feeling fully entertained.
The animation was the Album cover for this song which was called Freeze Frame which also had Centerfold, Rage In the Cage, Piss on the Wall and other fun ones.
This is a great song, however my favorite is: It Isn't Nothing but a House Party. Started a lot of parties back in the 70's and 80's with that song. There are a lot of other good songs on the album Bloodshot.
The smallest and highest pitch sax is the Soprano which resembles a clarinet and has no curve to the bell. That small sax is an Alto and the smallest of the curved ones. Most common in Bluse music is the larger Tenor sax which leaves the big bad boy the Baritone...
I would recommend you listen to "Flamethrower" next! That is a BANGER! It was a song played a lot at the roller skating rink back in the early 80s. It's VERY funky! 😁🔥
"Flamethrower" is just a cool and funky song. It's my favorite on the album and did get radio airplay in my neck of the wood. You two would enjoy this one.
Hey I'm 57 and I grew up with with these guys. This stuff was what they did to be current in the 80's. You have to listen to must have got lost. Then your gonna want to hear more. J your gonna thank me. Raputa da beauta let down your hair and let me climb up your ladder o
Freeze Frame is about a 3 on a scale of 1-10 J Giels band songs. It's another purely commercial song far removed from the bands great body of work. You need to visit the albums Full House and Bloodshot, there you will hear what this Band is about. So whamma jamma, jammy, baby.
@@billebrooks both Freeze Frame and Centerfold where 1981 songs and long after their success in the 1970s. So as part of the complete catalog of their work both songs are rated low.
When this song was a hit there was the Freeze Frame dance in the clubs. They'd play this song and when they'd shout out "freeze frame" the dancers on the floor would freeze in place.
Love some J Geils! And you two are really showing off some impressive musicology! I have loved watching you take this journey. You have been killing it! Peace from Ohio …
I was lucky enough to have seen this concert....one of the best bands live ever! P.s. that was an alto sax...you probably are used to seeing the larger tenor sax.
Big song in in 1981. They have a mixture of jazzz and new wave. People in 81 was still into disco and they wanted to change that make dance music. Always makes you feel like your walking along and stop freeze.
Before hitting it big with the J. Geils Band, Peter Wolf was the overnight DJ on WBCN in Boston. JJ Jackson, one of the original VJ's on MTV, also was a DJ there.
The big guy with the little sax is Magic Dick, the harmonica player who tears it up in Whammer Jammer. If you haven't done that one yet, think about it. Only a live version will do, the one on their "Full House Live" album is a pretty good one, if you like a good harp player check Old Dickie out.
Hearing J Geils Band reminds me as well of Greg Kihn Band and two songs by this band are Break Up Song & Jeopardy, I don't think you have reacted to them yet!!🥳🥳🥳
It’s a soprano saxophone featured in the video. There are two types the one seen here is a really small version of a “normal” saxophone, then they have a version that resembles a clarinet, straight not bent. Kenny G plays one in the latest Busch Light Beer commercials.
I am 53 yrs old and I grew up with this music, thank you for bringing me back to my youth. I love that y'all (yes from the South) love good classic music. Keep doing what y'all are doing!!!!!!!! Love y'all.
You asked about the keyboard guy (someone else answered about the keyboard and its switches). Seth Justman was on keyboard, backing vocals and co-wrote the song with vocalist Peter Wolf. J. Geils on guitar Danny Klein on bass guitar Stephen Jo Bladd on drums, other percussion and backing vocals Magic Dick on sax, harmonica, and trumpet (for touring they had 2 other guys, one one tenor sax and one on alto sax, but I believe this video has their studio crew, someone correct me if that's wrong).
The type of animation you are seeing is called "Stop Frame" animation, not claymation. Peter Gabriel used stop frame animation in his "Big Time" and "Sledgehammer" music videos.
Ahhhhhh.... J. Geils Band....excellent childhood memories. This is probably my favorite from them. And I don't care how many people thought they "sold out" with it.
One of my fav bands as a teenager - Freeze Frame-next up Neneh Cherry Buffalo Stance - c’mon Guys, the video has 30m views, you have to check her out !! Great post
Got a suggestion for ya for Female Fridays... VISIONS of ATLANTIS - "Release My Symphony (Official Live)" VISIONS is an Austrian Symphonic Metal band with French and Italian vocalists. Their music a lot like Nightwish, but centered around Oceanic themes, like Pirates and stuff like that. In fact, their new album, just released last week is entitled "Pirates" and they all dress up as Pirates. But this song here is from their previous album "Gatherers." It is done with a Symphony orchestra as backing, so it's really cool to hear. I think y'all will really like this band. They've been around since 2003 or so, but are just now getting some new fans like Nightwish did in recent years.
Jay , since you like keyboards so much , then please react to anything by Howard Jones . My recommendation is start with Life In One Day. Howard is a God playing the Keys
You want keyboards, you must listen to Give it to Me. It's by far thier best song in my opinion. You MUST DO THIS ONE. I know you guys will love it. You won't be sorry! It's from the album Bloodshot, one of thier earlier albums, it's a must.
Wait until you hear J. Geils Band's "Whammer Jammer". The LIVE version, _not_ the studio version. I guarantee it will *BLOW YOUR FACE OUT* - you guys won't get that reference but people in the Comments will. 😁
It's a soprano sax it is small...lol...try "Give it to me"...its a great hit and it's from 1973...going back to Journey, listen to "Lovin, Touching, Squeezin"
The greatest thing about the 80's music is how up-beat most of the songs were. This was the funnest decade ever to be honest - our music was reflective of how we felt about life and living it to the fullest.
You have to check out "Piss On The Wall" lol. On your own listen to "No Anchovies Please" I also saw "Love Stinks" in the comments. That one is for sure, a MUST!!!
I'd go ANGEL IN BLUE next, there one real great ballad WITH really gorgeous Hammond organ...though Rage in the Cage would work, Flamethrower...Love Stinks...ORRRRRR...you could go off course for one song and go PETER WOLF, their lead singer, and the awesome and criminally ignored awesome 80's song called LIGHTS OUT******. you will LOVE it.
J. GEILS was based in the blues from the beginning so I think it's time to visit some o' dat ...... from Love Stinks there's WHEN THE WALLS COME TUMBLIN' DOWN or some live tracks, because that's really what they are all about ...... LOVE-ITIS, DETROIT BREAKDOWN or MUSTA GOT LOST.
Can we bring back roller skating clubs now? Flying down the arena with this song, colored lights flashing everywhere, and the sounds of arcade machines, 80's magic.
I'm gain 😁

The 80’s, when music was just fun!!
Come Back- J Geils band. This is another fun upbeat banger from them that would love to see you react to! Thanks for reacting to this great one!
Check out a song by The J. Geils Band called, "Love Stinks". It was a pretty big hit for them, in the early 80s.
Great song 😁🕊️
“Well I have the microphone SO YOU WILL LISTEN TO EVERY GODDAMN WORD I HAVE TO SAY!!!!”
My anthem. 😂😂 I never related to song so much as that one.
Agreed 🤘 ... I Must Got Lost as well 😎
Wife here..Wore this record out!!...J.Geils Band was known as a great party band in the eighties..Just Great 80's Rock and Roll..Thank you for enjoying and appreciating this Awesome jem!!..I'll still blast these guys!!
Ain't Nothin' but a House Party!!
"Infectious"
One of my alltime faves. That keyboard and brass section, of course, but then there's that bubbling bassline...
They were at their best on stage LIVE!
J. Geils was a hometown band for me here in Massachusetts! Always a good time seeing them back in the day! Flamethrower ..IMO...is their best.
Watching you vibe to the music was the same thing we were doing back then. The music and the beat just set you to dancing and that's all we cared about. I hope you explore more of the early to mid 80's dance music. I miss it so much !!
They are WELL known for being a PARTY BAND , GREAT STUFF!
In my youth, (i was young once), i have been to many, many concerts and NOBODY put on a show like the J. Geils Band, they would engage the entire audience at times and you left the show feeling fully entertained.
Some earlier J Geils is great as well, the Bloodshot Album is great from “Ain’t nothin but a house party” to the last “give it to me” 😎
This was huge when it came out!! I love most of what J Geils band does!! I love watching you guys daily!! Great job !!
All I can say is You'd love "One Last Kiss" . Totally different but really great!
I had that album! The record itself was red!
Bloodshot, what a great album.
The smallest and highest pitch sax is the Soprano which resembles a clarinet and has no curve to the bell. That small sax is an Alto and the smallest of the curved ones. Most common in Bluse music is the larger Tenor sax which leaves the big bad boy the Baritone...
The pride of Boston!

Nobody should rate this song a 3. Boo! This song always made me happy when it was new, every time I heard it...same with Centerfold.
@@billebrooks both Freeze Frame and Centerfold where 1981 songs and long after their success in the 1970s. So as part of the complete catalog of their work both songs are rated low.
@@rickpetersen1745 I never even knew they had any success in the 1970's. But then, I was 10 years old in 1981.
@@billebrooks well now you have a adventure ahead of you. Check out Full house 1971, Bloodshot 1972, then onto Blow your Face off.

Love J Geils Band. This song puts me in a good place in time.

When you get around to Extreme "Get The Funk Out" your faces will melt on the solo!

their live shows in the early 70’s were the best.... Peter wolf is a great frontman... he was married to famous actress Faye dunaway....
Wife here..Wow..Awesome Fact..Amazing!!

Seth Justman - keyboards, backing vocals
J Geils Band is always so much fun!!
Flamethrower is crazy cool !!!
Hahaaa love watching you guys jam out to these songs I grew up with....Never Stop!
I've always thought of this band as an 80's version of a 60's doo-wop group, but they play instruments.
Their first that I remember/college. Was fun! That and Centerfold. Fun reaction. Try ‘goodie two shoes’ by Adam Ant
We would "freeze" when Freeze Frame was sung and then start dancing again.
I saw them live in 1981 Joan Jett and the Blackhearts opened up for them at Pine knob just north of Auburn Hills Michigan.
This is the greatest feelgood song of all time in my book, i gree up with this. I loooove this record ❤❤❤
Flamethrower is a really good song 🎵!!
You asked about the keyboard guy (someone else answered about the keyboard and its switches).
Seth Justman was on keyboard, backing vocals and co-wrote the song with vocalist Peter Wolf.

Would I Lie To You - Eurythmics
Return of the Mack - Mark Morrison
Suga Suga - Baby Bash
Heart of Stone - Taylor Dayne
Send Her My Love - Journey
'First I Look At the Purse' is a good one of theirs.
J. Geils was a fun band !😀
The type of animation you are seeing is called "Stop Frame" animation, not claymation. Peter Gabriel used stop frame animation in his "Big Time" and "Sledgehammer" music videos.
"Detroit Breakdown", Southside Shuffle", "Musta Got Lost".
You have pretty much covered their biggest hits with Centerfold and Freezeframe. The only one left is Love Stinks, which is awesome.
Flamethrower is a must.
Love your guys reactions!!! Such a catchy tune, if you don't either dance or sing to this song, you don't have a pulse❤❤❤ 😂
A dark ballad by the band is Angel In Blue.
One of my favorite from them
Love Stinks is a must!
If only we could take you guys back to the 70's and 80's... 😃
Yay, Thanks for coming back to J. Geils band -- pls also check out their "Concealed Weapons".
Along with "Centerfold" probably their two biggest hits, both staples on radio and MTV. "Flamethrower" and "Musta got lost" are great follow ups.
They were an even better band to see live!!! Phenomenal showmen!!
"Rage in the Cage" will complete the J Geils trilogy for you!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️you guys!
Flamethrower by The J. Geils Band has to be next, it burned up the dancefloor
Samples from this song would be used by sports teams for their arena music, especially the part that goes "Shoot! Shoot!"
The saxophone is a curved soprano sax. Kenny G also played the soprano sax, but he plays the straight one (looks like a brass clarinet).
I actually bought this album not typically my choice of bands, sounds a bit different pretty catchy. :-) :-)
Burned the bearings out of my skates to this one back in the day. When it came on everyone would stop what they were doing and flood the rink.
You absolutely must do love stinks. Such a fun song!
My First concert was J Giels band and Rolling Stones it was a Blast , I was 14 years old ,
Good ol' fun music 🎵!!!
Ahhhhhh.... J. Geils Band....excellent childhood memories. This is probably my favorite from them. And I don't care how many people thought they "sold out" with it.
This song reminds me of how much I TOTALLY MISS the 80s because of how DOPE it was.
God, I miss that f*ckin' decade...SMH
#IMissThe80s
If you go to a hockey game , it's almost guaranteed the arena will play this sometime during the game.
Their best song, You got to give it to me
One of my fav bands as a teenager - Freeze Frame-next up Neneh Cherry Buffalo Stance - c’mon Guys, the video has 30m views, you have to check her out !! Great post
Great song! Haven't thought about it for years. Classic early 90s R&B.
Y'all should do Love Stinks next.
the lead singer is Peter Wolf he did a solo album and it's called lights out it's a great song you should check that out
Ambers dorky faces are hilarious

There was the 70s J. Geils Band, then there was the 80s J Geils Band. I try to forget about the 80s incarnation.
This was one of those early 80s albums that was in everyone's collection. Next songs I will suggest are "Rage In The Cage" and "Love Stinks".
Love Rage in the Cage!!
Please react to their song, Piss On The Wall. Hilarious.
Jay , since you like keyboards so much , then please react to anything by Howard Jones . My recommendation is start with Life In One Day. Howard is a God playing the Keys
B4 their popularity in the ‘80s; the had a big hit w/ “U Got 2 Give It 2 Me”. Check it out! Nice blend of funk & rock! 💯🔥🤙🏽😎

Angel in Blue is another great song from the same album. It’s a bit slower but very meaningful.
J Geils has always been a great party-type band where their music just gets people going.
It's a soprano sax it is small...lol...try "Give it to me"...its a great hit and it's from 1973...going back to Journey, listen to "Lovin, Touching, Squeezin"

You should check out their first video Love Stinks.
You have to check out "Piss On The Wall" lol. On your own listen to "No Anchovies Please"
I also saw "Love Stinks" in the comments. That one is for sure, a MUST!!!
This whole album is good
stop frame animatics yes used in Claymation too
This is THE skating rink song!

Gotta do Love Stinks and Musta got Lost and Peter Wolf had a fun solo tune called Come As You Are. You'll enjoy all three.
You guys crack me up.
Nice. Memory Lane.
