    Thank you so much, this tutorial gave me the confidence to finally attempt the surgery on my old friend and it was a great success. The power source cable on the board was the hardest part for me but it went very smoothly from there. Good camera work and step by step.
    For anyone attempting it take your time, and two mistakes I found in other comments: around 8:00 there's a black screw on the mother board near the wifi antenna connector, take it off before flipping it. And the blue strip connector on your disk reader, push the metal connector DOWN gently to unplug it. Other than that perfect video.

    My fan blades had dust caked on. First time opening the PS4 since we got it (had to be over 5 years). I couldn't get the stuff off, so I tried removing the fan and soaking it in 91% isopropyl alcohol. The stuff practically melted off! I still had to take a reusable straw cleaning brush and clean between the blades, but I didn't think it would work as well as it did. Thank you for this tutorial! It saved another PS4 from getting thrown out.

    My ps4 is almost 10 years old and I have long since upgraded to the ps5. However, my son (5) uses the ps4 to play NASCAR and Monster Jam. Over the years the ps4 has gotten progressively louder and warmer. Yesterday we noticed it would turn on, but we couldn't go past the sign-in screen. I used this video to tear apart the console and clean out all of the dust and grime. I put it back together and it is so quite and works great, Thanks a ton! This is an older video, but it was still so useful for me.

    Also the "screws" at 16:30 area.. are those Phillips head or torx? I have now disassembled 4x and am reassembling the 4th time, I always have one torx or one Phillips left because only one guide on UA-cam has the "screw" description and even then they skip a spot or two other videos show.

      I used a metal mechanics parts holder. Looks almost like a little stainless steel dog food bowl and it has a magnet on the bottom. They are inexpensive and can be found in different sizes of round or rectangular. Wally world and car parts houses carry them. Other large parts were stored starting with the bottom of the PS4 on bottom and stacking them carefully.

    • @GoCellPhoneRepair
      @GoCellPhoneRepair  2 місяці тому

      Not without creating more problems. If you take a look at 5:25, you'll see that there are several cables and an antenna wire that need to be detached from the motherboard. They are located under the power supply. You might try a larger bit, cutting a straight slot into the screw head and using a flat blade to remove it, or in the worst case you may need to drill out the top of the screw. It's never fun but there are ways to get past a stripped screw.

      They can be a real pain. A set of hobby sized needle nosed pliers can help but you have to be extremely careful not to damage the connector in the process.

    Hey I got a question what does it mean if it beeps 3 times and shuts off

    • @GoCellPhoneRepair
      @GoCellPhoneRepair  7 років тому +1

      The three beeps indicates that you have a problem. Kind of like the "Check Engine" light in a car. See if anything shows up on the TV screen that it's connected to and watch the light on your console. Is it white, blue, etc. You should be able to get more info by googling the symptoms.

    Do you have anything on the PS3, not just disassembly but what typically fails in them and if they are repairable? I've had 4 of them here that don't work for several months, but haven't gotten around to looking at them just because I don't really know where to start. Looking at them from the outside, the vents appear to be totally plugged up with dust. I've heard stories about the BGA processor chip developing solder fractures due to overheating and people baking the board in an over to re-flow the solder but not sure if that's a good idea. (And I've heard it can stink up the house too.) Any advice or insight on these would be greatly appreciated. Once they overheat, are they repairable, or pretty much junk when that happens? Thanks much.

      Not yet. I only recently started working with game consoles. When I come across one I'll definitely make at least a tear down video. There is a video of a guy re-balling the processor of either the PS3 or PS4 but he had some specialized equipment that probably is not worth getting if only for the PS3. Not too many people at least around here that will put much money into that model due to it's age and resale value.

    @GoCellPhoneRepair mine has glass on the 2 ends instead of stickers? Is there still a screw underneath or do I have to get just the middle one?

    • @GoCellPhoneRepair
      @GoCellPhoneRepair  6 років тому

      Glass? That's interesting. When you get to the step where the panel is removed just see if it feels like there are still screws holding it in place. If so then I'd say yes there must be screws underneath. Is yours a CUH-1115A or something different?

    What thickness did u use on thermal pads?

    • @GoCellPhoneRepair
      @GoCellPhoneRepair  3 місяці тому +1

      I'm not sure exactly how thick those are. At the time of this video, there were some for sale online but since that time they are no longer available because it has been determined, so I am told, that you should use the originals or get some from a donor console. Otherwise, you will probably do more harm than good using something that isn't precisely to spec; you're better off missing a pad or two than substituting something other than an original.

    All the covers come off after removing screws on the back. None of the power supply ones go into the covers.
