Thank you so much for this wonderful video. I was doing this to a recently pawned ps4 slim I picked up. I wanted to do the internal cleaning and apply fresh thermal paste and thermal pads. One thing I’ll do is replace the battery cmos battery as well since I have it apart. That part for heat sink was something I was wondering where it came from also. I patiently watched till you figured out where I needed to go. I didn’t know where it came from when I was disassembling my PS4. Thanks again for the awesome video.
This ones super clean compared to mine, mine was fully covered with thick layers and chunks of dust absolutely everywhere ... Jet sounds, overheating all bad symptoms, decided to give it a clean and a new thermal paste the old paste was completely dried out now its running like new

Good video, may I suggest to invest into a good quality small air compressor with a water separator if you clean alot of consoles. I do alot of cleaning and it was the best decision I made hate can air and dealing with them. Anyway awesome video will be using this video to disassemble my brother's ps4 slim. Thanks man.
Took apart my slim last year, still can't bring myself to clean the COPIUS amounts of dust caked into every nook and cranny. Things just been sitting in a bag on my shelf 😅
get a plastic cubbies / box cubes for screws. You can put specific screws in one, and same with others. It kinda looks like those silverware things you can pop into a drawer. Regardless it's helpful and handy to make sure you never mess something up.
I was trying to do a basic disassembly, one that doesn't remove the warranty seal (even though I got mine from a pawn shop) a certain part fell out when I was cleaning it, your video or any other video does not show or mention it and I don't know how important it is or if the console can properly run without it, its a medium sized black metal part bent at the end with 2 screw holes in it, one on the bent side and one on the flat side, I don't know where it goes so I can't put it back and I don't know how or if it will run without it
I took mine entirely apart and cleaned it, i took pretty much all the screws out since there was a good amount of resin built up inside, it seems a small mostly flat metal piece fell out, it has a small P1 indentation on it I didn’t think it’d be a big problem but after reassembly I can’t run anything as it gets too hot and shuts off, the fan seems to be spinning, although I didn’t change the thermal paste, would that alone cause my problem, I also disassembled the disc drive as mine never could read discs, I assume that’s where the piece came from as I didn’t see you do that or the piece on the side
Just did mine. Wish I saw your video ahead of doing it. It's pretty clear and straight forward which would have helped in the prep phase. One thing I'm wondering is if it would be worth replacing the thermal pads for the memory as well? I bought mine used in 2016 and the guy who sold it to me said it wasn't that old at the time (it was cause it was caked in dust from the back fan, after a week I noticed it.). It's my first time doing the tear down but the pads didn't look half bad. Just wondering at this stage in the game for the Slim's lifecycle if its worth doing the upgrade to open it up again and give it one last boost. Great vid. Keep up the good work!
