      @@jasonirizarry6851 less than you think and be careful about spreading as paste like Arctic Silver, although one of the best thermal conductors, is also a great electrical conductor. So don't get any on the board. I recommend to clients and beginners to use Arctic Ceramique 2 as it's not electrically conductive. This works great and the difference in temp is negligible.

    So... this is my husband's old PS4! The Witcher sticker (right down to the bubble in it from not applying it properly) is in the EXACT same place. We took it to a shop in Ohio who couldn't fix it, so we requested they dispose of it for us and we bought a new console.
    We're in the middle of cleaning out my console, and that's how he stumbled across this video. SO WEIRD to see our playstation on UA-cam! But hey! If it helps someone, then we're all for it.
    Note: this could be someone else's PS4... but we are both about 98% sure this was our old one! The sticker, timing and model all line up!

After hours of searching on UA-cam and trying different solutions on how to fix this issue I came upon this video. Yes. The fan will get clogged up with dust and that damages the fan. It's best to replace both the fan and thermal paste while cleaning any dust under the power brick and motherboard. The fan needs to move freely and effortlessly when it operates to work properly.

    You didn't seem to mention how you got the little wire connected to the motherboard from the fan at 11:35.
    I ended up having the wire ripped off because you forgot to mention it. But it has been resolved by using a thin object to push them back in place.
    Other than that I followed the instructions but I don't have the thermal paste yet, guessing that will stop the ps4 from overheating as now the ps4 turns off from overheating a few seconds after turning on even when the fan is working.

      Spilling any kind of liquid in an electronic device can be catastrophic. You might not see symptoms right away but over the weeks and months corrosion will form on the circuit board and cause big problems. Since your post is a year old I imagine you are seeing symptoms by now unless you cleaned it out right away. Would be interested to know.

      @@alienunleashed Vodka and fizzy drinks are not the same type of liquid. Vodka is the best kind of liquid you can spill in or on an electronics device since it evaporates quicker than pure water and actually has cleaning properties like medical grade rubbing alcohol. Fizzy drinks/pop or soda has sugars that can be extremely corrosive over time.

    hey, i cleaned my ps4 very well just like in the video but when i turn it on and run a game it shuts down like 20-30 seconds later, which leads me to believe that something is not working right in the cooling systen or something like that, the fan works very well. Does anyone know why this is happening?

So although I successfully replaced the fan now I need to replace the WiFi antenna. Smh..... minor sacrifice for doing it for the first time and saving money on someone else repairing. You have it wiggle it side to side while you gently pull it back. The part that connects is more like a cartridge and not the entire connection if that makes sense. You'll see it start to slide out after wiggling it around a couple of times.

    After applying thermal paste do you have to let it rest for a certain time or can you run it as soon as you put it back together?

    • @xZKrYpTiK
      @xZKrYpTiK 4 роки тому +1

      its recommended to let it sit for a minute but its not really necessary . ONLY APPLY PASTE TO THE APU. NOT BOTH THE APU AND THE HEATSINK. also you do not need to spread the paste like in this video. just enough paste about the size and shape of a piece of rice. the heatsink pressure from being screwed on will spread the paste evenly on the APU. this is a good video though

    Hello! Just contacted chat for help. They said it’s a purchase purpose only. I have a PS4 CUH 1216B - and want to clean it good. The problem is that I don’t want to tear it off fully. Is it okay to just remove power supply and use compressed air to give it a good clean form up side of shelve and fan itsef, including heat sink?
