Mo is the most underrated brother in this amazing group. He also was a great bass player. He was instrumental in the music/notes of all their songs!!! He could play any instrument.
The Bee Gees were so huge in the 70's that after awhile it became "cool" to bash the Bee Gees & disco in general. I remember the phrase "Disco Sucks" was common place. Now it's refreshing to hear these great songs again & them being introduced & appreciated by a new generation.
I wish that these channels didn't ignore the 1960s Bee Gees, as so many do. They were huge in those days with such beautiful songs before they started writing dance music.
I’m with you on that. “Bee Gee’s 1st” is a great Beatles inspired album, along with a few that followed. I don’t disparage their 70’s stuff though. The songwriting was always solid.
Motown still underrated. It wasn't underrated then. But the singing show contests on TV even when they use some old Motown just trivializes it and reminds me of enjoying the music, not some identity crisis actor singing for cash to buy video games.
My favorites are my favorite. Love the disco but really LOVE their early and later stuff. No other way to say it , but they were amazing. Melody, writing, harmonies. Can I say it again? HARMONIES! No one better as a total band. They had the talent in spades! If you liked this, then you will have no your mind blown with FANNY (BE TENDER WITH MY LOVE).
It’s a keyboard bass that is driving this song. There’s one video that shows the whole band and you can see the keyboard players fingers doing exactly what you’re hearing. I agree that it’s one of the funkiest bass lines ever and every time I hear it I feel it to the depths of my soul. I love how you guys dug it so much!
OOH Yes!!! Soul Soothing, hard banging, deep groove, big bass music!!! Another example of why new music cannot compare. The Bee Gees wrote, sang, arranged and performed their music; VERY hard to find in any artist that is considered "successful" today. Most I don't even consider music artists; they are "performers". Your smiles and watching you both feeling the music made my afternoon!
The BeeGees were pure Geniuses , you couldn’t pay for their weight in Gold , they were Impossible to pay , these guys were out of this world , I hope you can hear “ Fanny Be Tender With My Love “. That’s a Master Piece .
It's Maurice on bass, makin' a wonderful job. Songwriting and Composition masterful. No need to talk about their singin'. Barry discovered that he's been able to sing in falsetto, just with that track. Check'em out with 'Heavy Breathing' and 'Road To Alaska. Also brill songs.
Welcome to the wonderful world of the Bee Gees. Bee Gees are the best. Everything you can imagine they've perfected. Funk, R & B, Pop, Country, this list goes on and on. Too Much Heaven. Fanny Be Tender. Stayin Alive. Tragedy. Love You Inside Out.
Yeah!!! I've always loved that record. As I heard it, that is the first appearance of the soon-to--be-famous Bee Gees Disco Falsetto. A great place to start. Trivia--the Bee Gees wrote To Love Somebody for Otis Redding, but he died before he could record it.
GREAT REACTION you guys. I love seeing people your age discovering the music I grew up with. NOBODY can listen to this song and keep their head still, haha. This song is so kick-ass, and no matter what kind of day you had, when this song came on the radio it was a great day. I am glad you guys are as moved by this song as I am. There's so much more to discover. Keep on keeping on.
The Bee Gees, will always be associated with Disco, but they wrote some amazing songs that were covered by artists from different genres. They were amazing!
i just want to add my appreciation for how right on your reactions are.!To see you ooze with delight over the qualities of this song that have always thrilled me. is a real pleasure. On top of which you bring your musical expertise to shed light on the mechanics of the musicality. Hats off to you both!
Yes he is. Not on album though. Makes me sad because I like Mo getting his respect. A lot of I people think he was just the third wheel. Kinda riding the coast tails of his brothers. He was the catalyst to the Melodie’s, especially the base. I love his quirkiness also.
@@trudyjoejenkins9357 Maurice caused much anxiety often in the studio because of his worsening alcoholism during the 1970's. He was not consistently dependable to show up and contribute-- Robin and Barry covered for him as much as they could. The crew and band members all covered for Mo. He got it under control after those frenetic 70's, until Andy died in 1988. Mo's alcoholism went out of control again until 1991-92, when he finally went sober through an AA program and enjoyed the last decade of his life, as a happy, energetic, productive artist and family man. Mo had such gifts!!! He was taken too soon~ All of these events are well- chronicled and discussed openly by Maurice and his family. You Tube is one source (interviews) and various books and documentaries.
A very special surprise! So many freakin hits! Masters in Songwriting, Musicianship, Production and Engineering. This is my very favorite Bee Gee’s song. Yet, their late60’sand early 70’s is fire! Like “Fanny”
My sister brought this album home when I was into Led Zep and Black Sabbath .I laughed at her but secretly the bass on this album absolutely stunned me especially Jive Talkin, ,thanx boys
I love how this song carries to its eventual conclusion. You get a satisfying experience that feels complete. Another song that feels that way is U2's One.
Nights on Broadway waa released in 1975 before Saturday Night Fever fame and that soundtrack release in 1977. They had hits prior to the Disco Era and beyond not just for themselves but for other artists often singing backing vocals. You listen to something like this or a post Fever tune like Tragedy or Too Much Heaven and realize how versed and smart they were as musicians whi honed their craft as childhood musicians into adulthood. So glad tye got into the Rocj N Roll Hall of Fame because even a song like Lonely Days Lonely Nights was killer
You will be blown away with Fanny (Be Tender With My Love). Mr. Quincy Jones was quoted as saying that it's his favorite R&B song and the best hes ever heard. Jive Talking is also a bass favorite.❤❤❤
I'm 54 yrs old and I can still remember my older brother playing that hit in his car when I was like 8 yrs old. Love how respectful and heartfelt you guys were here. Outstanding RV
I'm so lucky to have been in my 20's . I got to experience and see lots of great bands and performances from the later 70's ....75 and up. I graduated in 1979. At the time we didn't realize how great the difersity and raw talent but looking back I don't see another time for music like the 70's and 80's even add in the late 60's too!!❤. I'm blessed to have been able to hear many of these greats live!! 💃🔥
I saw The Bee Gee's live once because my mom didn't want to go alone. I'm so glad I went, for most of the show the brothers used 1 mic and made they're own blends. No one ran over each other, so good!
Had to experience this video again. The strong positive reaction to the song ; the song itself, with the uppercut punch of the bass and the heart-soaring back-up vocals ; and of course the now-iconic 360° head-roll ... Nights On Broadway is definitely "dope", and this reaction video is even dope-r .
Excellent !!!! People forget the Brothers Gibb were cranking out hits way before the whole "Saturday Night Fever" explosion. Great music is just great music !!!!! Please do more reactions of them, I promise you won't be disappointed !! 1975.
That was the rise of the world famous falsetto of all time - "...blame it on" - the beginning of legendary status of an voice of generation - Barrys vocals from another planet and the beginning of the triumphal procession of 44 weeks on #1 US billboard charts with twelve immortal tunes to come 🔥
Awesome reaction! I've loved this song since the 70's, but you guys helped me hear it in a way I've never heard it before. One of the reasons I love watching reaction videos!
The Brothers Gibb. This is my favorite song by them and they had a ton of hits. The best thing about growing up in the 60s & the 70s is that we were exposed to different types of music. You could hear CCR to Led Zeppelin to the Temptations to Three Dog Night on the same Radio Station. And while Im at it Three Dog Night is a rabbit hole you will want to enter into.
If you watch the Bee Gees on the "MIdnight Special" do this song you can see Maurice playing the bass and the sound you note is his bass. Its live and its crazy good. Matter of fact anything on the midnight special is really good
The Bees Gees had a ton of great songs before and after Saturday Night Fever. This album, Main Course, is one of their best and you should definitely react to “Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)” and “Jive Talking.” You’d also enjoy “Can’t Keep a Good Man Down” and “Subway” from the album “Children of The World.” And I’d also recommend songs from the album “Still Waters,” especially “I Surrender.”
Your boy was right, every time that song hit you hit the dance floor! This was released my senior year of high school and I’d take this album to all the parties! That groove is real even years later to today! Chiguy!
Brothers, I was (and will always be) a prog rock snob. But, when I wanted to get my grove on, the BeeGees (along with Hall and Oates, The Temps, and the Commodores) were my go to group. These brothers always brought the smoothest, most polished vocal harmonies, and sometimes, like with this tune, a slappin' beat as well.
You guts should pull up some of the old "Midnight Special" videos with the 70's artists on there. It still blows me away how good those bands were playing on live TV with the sound they had. Just shows how much work they put into their craft. Bee Gees, Journey, Ted Nugent, AC/DC, Areosmith.......so many
The first time I heard this, I was driving into my apartment parking lot. I heard that opening beat and thought "damn!!! That's funky! Who is this!?" And I stayed in my car (parked) till it was over.
This song is great for Barry and Robin both sung with their amazing vocals....also with the fantastic falsetto of Maurice throughout the whole awesome song. What are talented musicians.....😊🎉❤
These guys were in a state of grace with this album. Crazy good production, what with Barry discovering his falsetto during this time. Do listen to the exquisite "Fanny Be Tender" if you can. You won't regret it!
Doesn't matter what genre you favor, well written music is well written music. You've got to recognize, Bee Gees had it in droves.
Spot on! Any genre any time when it's genius!
Amen. Some music is go great it transcends genre. I love great vocal harmony--enough said.
FACTS!!!! A great song translates no matter the genre.
You got it. Excellence is excellence!
My favorite Bee Gees song
their Midnight Special performance is just outstanding. what an amazing band.
I’m a rocker thru and thru, but these guys were amazing! The harmonies are butta.
Agree with you 💯 brother! The drums are my favorite part of this one.
Same here brother! Dream theater, Metallica, and the Bee Gees!!!!! Great music is great music!
Quincy Jones said the BeeGees hit “ Fanny be Tender “ is one of the best R&B songs he’s ever heard- can’t wait for your reaction-
I loved it straight away when I first heard it as a teenager. I learned not to regard it as a guilty pleasure.
How can any human with a pulse not like the groove of this classic.
This track is flawless!! The Bee Gees are the Gold Standard for songwriting, vocal production, arrangement, You name the criteria, they exceed them!
Masters of every aspect of what they did. So good.
Banger!
Mo is the most underrated brother in this amazing group. He also was a great bass player. He was instrumental in the music/notes of all their songs!!! He could play any instrument.

Maurice discovered the SYNTH BASS, and changed the sound with that fat bass!
I wish that these channels didn't ignore the 1960s Bee Gees, as so many do. They were huge in those days with such beautiful songs before they started writing dance music.
Totally agree
Recommend, recommend, recommend!!
I’m with you on that. “Bee Gee’s 1st” is a great Beatles inspired album, along with a few that followed. I don’t disparage their 70’s stuff though. The songwriting was always solid.
Nobody really says it but the 70's had a lot of funk in it's music. I grew up feeling it😊
Motown still underrated. It wasn't underrated then. But the singing show contests on TV even when they use some old Motown just trivializes it and reminds me of enjoying the music, not some identity crisis actor singing for cash to buy video games.
Oh yea❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
We have that ‘Sleep On It’ coming In The next wave of videos
@@AirplayBeats love everything you do thank you……..keep jammin👑❤️👑❤️
One of greatest musicians and writers of all time. Only one left now .
Thank you for commenting on this gentlemen. The Beegees were really an extraordinary band.
The Bee Gees were incredible. Such a wide spectrum. You gotta check out more. Especially from the '60's before they did disco stuff.
The Bee Gees didn’t do disco, disco did the Bee Gees.
Mo is rocking that bass! Their range, harmony and song writing skills are second to none. Musical geniuses. The Brothers Brilliant never disappoint!
Maurice plays the bass!! Flawless!!
One of my favorite Bee Gees albums. I can’t even remember which song made me buy this album. So great.

No auto tune and just pure heart
You kill me me shaking your head! It’s too good!!!
Love it when they slow it down and Barry comes in with I will wait...he sounds just to good so smooth and sexy.❤❤❤
Yes he is! What a man & musician!♥️
The 70's music is the greatest music on the planet.

The Bee Gees rabbit hole is deep! Just keep on digging you won’t be disappointed! Great reaction ❤
They've been at it for EVER...since younguns
You can't deny GREAT music. This right here to me sums up the Bee Gees
Their live version of this on The Midnight Special is worth a reaction.
I saw the Midnight Special live version multiple times. I think Maurice is providing that background falsetto vocal in addition to the bass line.
Maurice could hit that high note with ease.
Maurice was the foundation of much of the music BeeGees put out. Legends all.
Yes he is. Not on album though. Makes me sad because I like Mo getting his respect. A lot of I people think he was just the third wheel. Kinda riding the coast tails of his brothers. He was the catalyst to the Melodie’s, especially the base. I love his quirkiness also.

One of my favourite BGs songs. But I am a fan from their 60’s music
My favorite Bee Gees tune! As far as the sampling comment goes, DMX sampled the part of the piano line from the breakdown for his song 'The Convo'.
Maurice was a great bass player, that funky beat he puts down makes the song.
The Bee Gees are great! I was 20 years old when this record came out. Glad to grew up with this fantastic music!❤️❤️🎶🎶
Bee Gees have quite a library of Hits! Dive into them! You’ll recognize there songs! Their harmonies are legendary!❤
The drums are brutal!
Dennis Bryon. Killer. The lick @4:57 kills me.

Hooked on Bee Gees since I was 10. I’m 56 now and love them more than ever.
This is the most underrated and greatest song by the Bee Gees. A true 70's banger!
