They were one of my favorite singers in my Era. You should read about their history, it is very interesting.. They were all beautiful people. Thank you for the memories. ❤

I love The Bee Gees. They are awesome live. But this was lip syncing to the recorded version. That was common for variety shows back at that time, circa 1979.
Well, there were likely retakes. Though the video makes it look that way, this isn't live. It's a studio recording, and a pretty complex one, vocally, which is why during some of the chorus you can hear Barry's voice, yet he's not singing, especially during "Love is such a beautiful thing" lines later in the video.
The Bee Gees were a family band from Australia. Barry Gibb (the guy in the middle) was recently awarded a Kennedy Center Honor for his contributions to the music industry. He's written songs for other singers as well as their group. Sadly the other two brothers have passed away. Barry has been married to his wife for over 50 years. As you can tell, I'm a long time Bee Gees fan!!!
The Bee Gees wrote over 1,000 songs. At one point , they outsold the Beatles..there were 4 brothers , who grew up in poverty, but they had talent , ambition and each other. Barry's signature falsetto was discovered quite by accident, and led much to the group's success. Robin had a great voice too, and Maurice was fantastic with multiple instruments. One of the greatest groups in history.
Go to you tube and watch "Kenny Rogers Road to Sacrifice". You'll find the 2 Brothers were both s.a.c.r.f.i.c.e.d. That's what the song "I Don't Want to be Alone" was all about.😢
Maurice’s daughter, Samantha, sings with Barry some times. She has a beautiful voice, of course. Wish more people would’ve caught on to her. BeeGees all day! I dated my husband to this music in 1976-77, married July ‘77 and still kicking!! They literally wrote the soundtrack of our lives!
Only brothers could do what they did…including Andy. No one before or after has ever had their sound. I know my world would not have been the same without their music. It’s impossible to hear them sing especially their love ballads without them touching your soul
This is the greatest vocal harmonization in history. Maurice and Robin are fraternal twins and have been harmonizing from the womb. Just beyond amazing.
Yep!! I was there, a Mom of 2 dancing to their music as I did housework, it always went faster! Try vacuuming to their best, great exercise, I still exercise to that music by dancing! Regular exercise is soooo boring!!!!😜😁🥰🌹🇺🇸
I was brand new to the USNavy and was exploring alternative music in 78...lots of Mexican radio out of Baja California ska..reggae and a lil 2tone💫.. i listened to motown as a middle schooler....js
Yeah, I think it was around this time that I officially got tired of the BeeGees, they were everywhere. Yes, when mainstream radio jams this into your ears nonstop this can indeed happen. I was currently having a love affair with Led Zepplin and these guys were just so bubble gum pop we used to say.
Yes: Barry, Robin, Maurice, Andy! I heard their sister Leslie could sing also but she never went professional like the boys! She was the oldest and she's still alive.
I am a Boomer myself and it doesn't get any better than this. I will forever have the memories of the Bee Gees from the sixties and the seventies. Anyone who had the opportunity to listen to the Bee Gees growing up is truly blessed. They don't make music like that anymore. ❤️
The main singer still makes music. His brothers have all passed away. His family and brother’s families live in Miami and England! He may grant you a interview. He loves that their music went on and is still going! ♥️♥️🙏🏼♥️♥️
I am enjoying watching you tubers finding the music from the sixties through to the nineteen nineties and how shocked they are with the amount of good music that came from this new young music. My youth was filled with sounds and words of talented people from this time in music history.
Just found your channel yesterday. As a 68 year old woman who grew up in the 60 s& 70s'and young in the 80s, it is so nice to see a young man discover music that was pure, simple and from the heart. No bells and whistles, just sing from the soul and tell a story.
I'm with you! It is a joy to see young people appreciate the music we grew up with! I raised my kids on it, and now the grandkids, but the grandkids can't stand the long hair of the rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, etc. They do like the music!
Me too! 68 & grew up on this music & it was lovely seeing this man react the way he did. No way did I see him as racist but cracked up when he said ‘where did these white men go?’ 😂😂
I remember when my father was trying to make us like his music. We were 🙄 but I appreciated it later. His taste in music was very diverse and I'm glad he did. My son has to endure listening to my music now, but I'm confident, it will sink in 😄
They are so incredible. It breaks my heart that Barry is the only Gibb brother left. If you haven't seen the documentary How To Mend a Broken Heart, you MUST. Their talent went beyond their voices. They wrote for so many other artists and developed incredible sound in their music "the old fashioned way" before the time of digital. True talent.
I'm a musician and a song writer!! LISTEN TO THE ORCHESTRATION of the horns and strings AND THE HARMONY! NOOO trick microphones for the voices!!! Just LOVE to a woman!!❤❤❤
You are listening to pure perfection !! 3 brothers harmonizing so good it sounds like one person ! This is one of the greatest songs ever !! No auto tune no lip syncing no voice over just raw talent
Totally agree Linda! BTW I’m 65 as well! LOVE,LOVE, LOVE the Bee Gees! Best thing is they lived in my country for a while! VERY cool! Peace and Blessings from Australia.
They sure were, they have a plethora of hits, i remember tragedy, i was so young but it takes you back to that time and makes you want to go back there. Ahhhh, so sad that music is such trash now.
The BeeGees were epic. They had hit songs in five separate decades! They also wrote all their music and wrote hits for other artists as well. They adapted throughout the decades and had hit after hit. So sad that only Barry is left.
It pleases me to know you appreciate the Bee Gees. I am 66 yrs old and I grew up with this music. It takes me back to my time when life was different and the music was great. I just listened to this song this morning and cried because I miss my youth and the great talent during that time. I'm not saying theres not talent these days but when you grew up with this song its special.
I'm in my early 40s and I grew up listening to this music so when people say they've never heard of the BeeGees, I'm just completely shocked. I love all their music. Their voices are one of a kind that no one will ever be able to duplicate. They're legends!
I'm also 66 years young like you, Kathy. The 1970s to me, had the very best music of all time. I grew up with disco and rock and thanks to alcohol I was able and more than willing to dance the night away. IMHO, the Bee Gees are without any doubt THE BEST. Second place is another Brit, Elton John. When I'm depressed, just listening to the Bee Gees takes all of my worries away. Disco. More precisely, 1970s disco. When I tell people what my favorite music is they sometimes roll their eyes and ask, "wait, really"? LOL. Just because I was an Iowa farm boy in no way, shape or form meant that I liked eew, country music! I absolutely can't stand any of it to this day. BTW, I'll be sober 27 years this July.
You'll be surprised by them even more when you hear other songs "How deep is your love" "Stayin alive" "More than a woman" "Jive talkin" "Fanny be tender" "You should be dancing" "Night fever" "Nights on broadway" "Love so right" "Tragedy" "Love you inside out"
You almost can't pick a BAD BeeGees song because they're guaranteed to have good melodies and harmonies regardless. I recently learned that "Jive Talkin'" was a comeback hit for them -- disco had become all the rage and people wanted dance music more that the tender ballads they were known for. They were trying to come up with a new album and maybe a new sound or style while in Miami. They kept driving across Biscayne Bay on the I-95 bridge, and somebody noticed the car made a strange rhythmic sound and joked, "That's just our drive talkin'." They turned that sound into the rhythm and bass line of the song. They retooled the lyrics and wound up with their first #1 hit since "More Than a Woman," and it gave them a push into their disco sound, where they obviously thrived.
i grew up listening to them and fell in love with the movies that their songs were in. It broke my heart when the youngest brother passed away. I love their voices. I was so young back then maybe eight or nine years old. So nostalgic, brings tears to my eyes
Barry the one in the middle is the only brother left alive now, twin brothers Robin and Maurice have passed, the two gentleman to the right and left of Barry. They had a younger brother Andy who had also passed years ago. Nobody could harmonize like The Bee Gees, 3 voices in one family blend perfectly! ❤
@@jeannefoster6643 Yes, it was a beautiful interview and was just after Robin had passed away in 2012 so it was still really raw. I guess this is the interview you are talking about? ua-cam.com/video/HxkSNV7HtYM/v-deo.html
They were amazing. The harmony was so tight that you could not ignore them. They were always pleasing to the ear. I could never understand how their falsetto was so natural and enduring. They were a major part of the soundtrack of my life. A flame slowly dying, Barry is the last man standing.
Imagine being young and crazy in love with your husband when this song was released and a hit. Bee Gees music was a big background to our life at that time. We were together 41 years and listened to a lot of music in those years, but Bee Gees captures our story. He died 9 years ago and I'm left with these memories.
this came out when my husband was coming back from 2 years of sea duty...he is now passed after 59 years of marriage. I adore them and now I listen to them all the time to bring back loving memories. they were together for 45 years...wow on them......beats most marriages these days!!
Amanda, are we related? While I’m in Arizona at the moment, I hale from Sydney, from a large family, my Father was one of 13 children, I’m one of 6 still living. Ask your parents if the knew of Val. Burke (my Dad).
The Bee Gees donated the publishing royalties for the song to UNICEF in the year of the child - an incredible gift of charity and love - Barry was the Alpha Male of the 70s and 80s - Super Masculine Hot Spunk Hunk ❤
The Bee Gees were a big, very big, sensation in the 60's and 70's. There was just a huge mass of fantastic music back then. I was born in 51. Trust me, it was virtually overwhelming.
What's really brilliant is they adapted their music styles as ppls likes changed and every damn style was great. I was never a fan of disco but they cinched that too. It was was their pure harmonies I couldn't help but love and Revere.
1954 here, and I often have thoughts of young people today discovering the music of our youth. Those times and all the conditions of the world then are long gone but it brings a smile to me knowing that the magic created back then still lives.
No, Andy wasn't at the height of his career when he died. He was struggling to make a come back when he died. Andy's career height was when he was 18-22 years old. He died at 30, broke, living in Robin's house.
It is a mysterious fact of life that neither great talent nor great weath make your personal life ok. But they brought us together in musical bliss. That's gotta count for something!!!
The Bee Gee's we're a child group and grew up to be the most Prolific Song Writers, Producers, and Artists in the 70's and 80's. They wrote and produced Hit song after Hit song for many Artists of that 20 years. The Rabbit Hole is deep, but worth it.
Hearing them again makes me cry because history has swallowed all this gorgeousness up, I'm now 75 and the best of the best has passed! And to set the record straight...the Brady bunch got their hair styles from the Bee Gees!! They're magic!!!! Check out the Righteous Bros., dude!!!!
If you want to know why they sound so good together, just look to their name Bee Gee's stands for Brothers Gibb. They were actual family and sang together since they could make noise. Sibling harmony is not duplicatable.
I'm so glad your generation is rediscovering the sound of the Bee Gees. Their sound was so unique and absolutely awesome. They not only wrote their own music but also wrote for other famous singers.
There is only one brother left, Barry. They were insanely talented and got ridiculed to death for being too disco there for a few years. Now of course everyone appreciates their great talent. Their catalogue of music is amazing. Check out songs written by the BeeGees.
I’m 53 and grew up listening to the BeeGees. Their vocals and harmonization are unmatched. If you look into their discography, you’ll be amazed at the songs they wrote, not only for themselves, but for many other hit makers too. You asked what happened to them… sadly, twins Robin (left) and Maurice (right) have passed away. Barry (center) is still alive and writing music. They had a younger brother, Andy, who was a solo singer; he had several hits of his own. Tragically, Andy died at the age of 30 in ‘88. You have a lot of great discovery ahead of you!
The Gibb Brothers formed the Bee Gees in their teens. They are English born and raised in Australia in the same town I grew up in. They found massive international fame in the 70s. Their brother Andy also had a solo career. Barry is the only one still living. I love them.
The family is English, but their mum and dad moved to the Isle of Man for a while and that's where they were born before coming back to Manchester in England. They later moved to Australia for a while, when Barry, the eldest was 12 in 1958, and then came home to England as their careers took off in 1967 when Barry was 21. In 1975 they moves to the US to work on an album in Miami. They then years later took US citizenship, but retaining UK citizenship and keeping homes in both the USA and UK.
One of the reasons they could achieve their sound is because they are brothers. A magical blend of nature, nurture and time. Many a heart thrilled to a slow dance from the brothers Gibb.🖖🌈
So glad you are discovering the Brothers Gibb. Their sound was amazing because their harmonies were always spot-on and magical. Tragically, Barry Gibb (with his amazing falsetto) is the only brother who is still alive.
I Love how you appreciate the Bee Gees, they are brothers. They are also song writers for themselves and others. Im 65 yr old white woman, listened to them as a teenager. I take it as a compliment that you didn't think they were white, because they absolutely have soul.
A tear always comes to my eye when I listen to the Bee Gees. I can still remember my mom listening to them while she would either clean or garden while I was growing up. I will always have a special place for them in my heart. I hope you can hear them in heaven mom! ❤
You made me emotional with your first sentence as I have the same reaction and then your last sealed the deal. The Bee Gees are my all time favorite and this song gets me every time.
These Bee Gees are from my era, as I’m 79 and a white woman. The astonishing thing about them is that they never studied music. They wrote all these awesome songs without even knowing how to write the music. They’re just incredibly creative and heart centered. Staying alive is one of my favorite songs that they’ve done. Because they wrote the music for Grease, and for Saturday night fever.
As a 50+ year old white female who grew up with a wide range of music appreciation, it is refreshing to hear and watch your reactions. Always a classic smooth song is this one. Can’t help but smile and swoon to it. Glad you discovered it.
I am 61 years old and was privileged to be a teenager when these fantastic lads were making their music. Only one is alive today…, I wish they were still making that wonderful sound….if only. ❤
They lived in Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia at the same time I did. I went to their last concert at the State Theatre in Sydney, Australia before they went to the USA and monstrous fame.
The harmony in this group is unparalleled. It simply does not exist in today’s music. Live. No filters. Pure perfection. Real music. As real as it gets with a message that any human can relate to down to our core being.
Whether using falsetto or not, Barry Gibb has one of the most distinctive voices on the planet. I've loved them from the late 60s and they have many amazing tracks in different genres from country to disco to rock and pop.
The best writers and harmonizing group ever!❤ Go down that rabbit hole, you won't regret it. They wrote songs for Dionne Warwick, Kenny Roger's and Dolly Parton, Michael Jackson, Barbara Streisand and on and on!!!
They were brilliant, creative, innovative and so talented. They lived in Australia for some time in their youth and they have been memorialised in their home town in Brisbane. They evolved and shared and their music is so different and is instantly recognisable. Barry must be sad that he is the only one left. I have listened to them since my childhood in the 1960’s . What brilliant musicians, singers, songwriters. Can’t think of anyone offhand that has been as creative as them
It's sad Barry is the only one left. What a great group, masters of falsetto. I still get goosebumps listening to this. I agree with you, a man singing to a woman like my husband does to me makes my heart melt. It promotes love, peace and softens the heart. We need more of that type of music now more than ever!
@@buck63eye fake news, he's not dead. Andy died in 1988, twins Maurice died in 2003 and Robin died in 2012. Eldest sister Leslie and Barry are the surviving Gibb siblings...
I do believe that the brothers were singing falsetto in the pure 432 tone. When they hit the highest note, specifically Barry, it automatically chokes me up and brings me to tears. That is the power of the 432, many state it is the 'God frequency'.
I grew up with the Bee Gees and it thrills me to see your beautiful reaction. I never heard a racism remark come from you. I have heard this song millions of times an I still get the chills . your reaction put a smile on my face an chills all over thank you .
This was done during the disco era. You’re about to go down a deep rabbit hole that I know you’ll enjoy. Barry is the oldest brother and lead singer, Maurice, pronounced Morris, and Robin, are twins. If you get a chance to check out the song “You Should Be Dancing “ you will listen to one of the greatest dance songs that also adds their younger brother Andy singing with them on stage. And he also has some hits as a solo artist. It definitely runs in the family. I hope you get to check out that song though because it will have some of The highest views and will get you moving out of your chair.
Not only were their voices and harmonies perfection, check out their song writing and who they wrote songs for. Some of the most prolific and greatest song writers.
I thought the same thing. He actually made me very happy because his comments are actually genuine and authentic, kind and his reactions to music are priceless ❤.
Music Icons of the 20th century. Their music will never die. The older it gets, the more you realise how gifted and talented they were. Only Barry is left.😢
I am 76 years old, the same age to the month as Barry, and to me they are still the BEST!! You have only started the BEE GEES JOURNEY. They wrote all their own songs and songs for so many other great singers of that era. You will love any song you hear them sing, just don’t stop listening
I am 72 yrs old and grew up listening to the BeeGees along with others but they were so good!! I know Barry misses his brothers but glad he has kept on singing!!!
I love watching your reactions to the fabulous music of my teens. I’m in my sixties and still think we grew up with the very best music out there. Keep sharing your “firsts” with us…you have a brilliant taste in music!
They mastered that falsetto…it was (is still) complete perfection! It just breaks your heart and gives you butterflies all at the same time! It’s even better because they’re brothers so they had the natural family thing going for the sound
They did falsetto as good as it could be done, no question. But I think they also overdid it. A handful of those late 70s hits could have sounded so much better with the lead vocal sung straight up, keeping the backing in falsetto.

And also how about "Nights On Broadway", which was later sampled in a track by DMX. A personal favorite. Bee Gees are the truth.

I feel sorry for the folks that didn’t grow up with ‘70’s and ‘80’s music.
Indeed I agree. Love watching the reactions of people hearing music for the first time what we grew up with
60s n 70s was better.. 😂
We really had it good
YES…too late😢❤. I’m pure 70’s
No kidding.
This song was a huge hit and they donated the rights to it to the charity UNICEF. it has raised millions over the last few decades.
Did not know that.
Wow, the gift that keeps on giving.

There was a UNICEF album of various artists, we had the tape when I was a kid. It was awesome!
All that talent in one family. Their voices blended perfectly. Miss them.
Yes: Barry, Robin, Maurice, Andy! I heard their sister Leslie could sing also but she never went professional like the boys! She was the oldest and she's still alive.

I'm with you, lady!
Late nights with my Girl slow dancing under the stars to this music. So long long ago but just like last night in my mind.
I got to grow up with all the greatest music from the 50's, 60's 70's, etc., etc. At 81, I am still enjoying the music.
Me, too!! The BeeGees were such a huge part of my childhood. They were incredible!
Agreed. Music back then was so much sweeter and gentler. So much music now is violent and degrading to women.
I am a Boomer myself and it doesn't get any better than this. I will forever have the memories of the Bee Gees from the sixties and the seventies. Anyone who had the opportunity to listen to the Bee Gees growing up is truly blessed. They don't make music like that anymore. ❤️
...I remember catching the Top 40 on WYLS out of Chicago every Saturday night! Bee Gees were staples!!
Thank you for discovering the Bee Gees, and reacting to them. Please continue going down this rabbit hole.
Was just about to say the same.

@@junemcquaide9726 Absolutely! I have thought that often especially since I started watching reaction videos.
I am enjoying watching you tubers finding the music from the sixties through to the nineteen nineties and how shocked they are with the amount of good music that came from this new young music. My youth was filled with sounds and words of talented people from this time in music history.
Girl, that ain't live lol
You've dipped your toe into the ocean that is the Bee Gees. It's a wide, deep ocean and it's FULL of incredible music like this.
NO COMPUTERS... NO SYNTHESIZERS...NO LIP-SYNCING...
REAL MUSICIANS IN THE STUDIO!!!! PURE TALENT AND PURE LIVE VOICE!!!!
That's right!...Either you could play and sing then, or could not...No enhancements on nothing!...

Well, technically they are lip syncing. Though the video makes it look live, it's a studio recording.
Me too I have their double CD pack..love them.
Too sad that the two on the sides already passed Away. Only Barry Gibs on the center is the lone standing of this 3 brothers.
Watched it yesterday! It was amazing to learn they didn’t know about their falsetto capabilities until working with Arif Mardin in the mid seventies!😮
Their only sister is still alive as well!❤
I grew up in the 70’s listening to them and Andy as well. ❤❤❤❤
❤ Yes.. that biopic is fantastic. Highly recommend it.
Their 60s music is so beautiful.
The harmonies of the Brothers Gibb are something only they could do. Pure perfection.
The Osmonds could also harmonize perfectly! And there was more of them!
How the trill at the end of each line is PERFECTLY synced, incredible.
Right? Just raw talent.
Yeah, they never had to lip sync at any performance. Love them.
Barry's falsetto is FIRE!!
I've always loved The Bee Gees. I'm 65 now and in my opinion my Era had the best music. Thank you for taking your time and sharing with us. 🇺🇸
Totally agree Linda! BTW I’m 65 as well! LOVE,LOVE, LOVE the Bee Gees! Best thing is they lived in my country for a while! VERY cool! Peace and Blessings from Australia.

Yes no one sings like The Bee Gees beautiful
I’ll tell you what happened…these guys are rare. They are not a dime a dozen singers. You’ve discovered a rare gem.
They were a rare breed, so very in tune with one another. I don’t think they ever released a song that wasn’t well loved. I miss them so much 😢❤️🩹💐🙏🏼
They sure were, they have a plethora of hits, i remember tragedy, i was so young but it takes you back to that time and makes you want to go back there. Ahhhh, so sad that music is such trash now.
I did not like it when they started to sing Disco songs. Wasn't a fan of those songs.
The BeeGees were epic. They had hit songs in five separate decades! They also wrote all their music and wrote hits for other artists as well. They adapted throughout the decades and had hit after hit. So sad that only Barry is left.
Truth is....there is NO ONE like the BeeGees. They are in a class all their own. Glad you are taking the time to enjoy them.

If this is important for you, we do have a mountain to climb now. It's not going to be very much fun. ❤️❤️
I feel bad for the young ones. They don't get to grow up with the magic that the bee gees had
I'm in my early 40s and I grew up listening to this music so when people say they've never heard of the BeeGees, I'm just completely shocked. I love all their music. Their voices are one of a kind that no one will ever be able to duplicate. They're legends!
Ditto.
Three brothers with GOD given talent . the harmony they have with each other . nobody can duplicate those voices always enjoy listening
To them .
They also wrote "Immortality" , covered by Celine Dion & "Emotion" , covered by Samantha Sang.
They were a miracle of music.....
Destiny's Child did bee gees song cover of the song Emotions
i grew up listening to them and fell in love with the movies that their songs were in.
Andy too! All four of their voices blended perfectly in harmony!

They were amazing. The harmony was so tight that you could not ignore them. They were always pleasing to the ear. I could never understand how their falsetto was so natural and enduring. They were a major part of the soundtrack of my life. A flame slowly dying, Barry is the last man standing.
In the mid-70s these guys were IT. I think at one point they had 4 of the top 5 on the charts. And then their younger brother, Andy, became huge.
That flame will never die.
Imagine being young and crazy in love with your husband when this song was released and a hit. Bee Gees music was a big background to our life at that time.
I grew with them too, born 67...discovered them in 77 I guess...
1954 here, and I often have thoughts of young people today discovering the music of our youth. Those times and all the conditions of the world then are long gone but it brings a smile to me knowing that the magic created back then still lives.
Agree with all of you. Born in '53 and I couldn't imagine my world without them in it.
They also had a younger brother, Andy Gibb. He passed away at the height of his career. The whole family was so talented!

The Bee Gees really are their own genre.

And all four brothers had it!
