Your enthusiasm is absolutely contagious 🤣🤣🤣 You still have Tragedy, Night Fever, You Should Be Dancing, Inside and Out, Jive Talkin and How Can You Mend A Broken Heart and a lot of others to go. These are just some of my faves. I can't wait for you to hear Jive Talkin 😘🤣 Please do it next ❤
Have you reacted to their younger brother Andy Gibb? He had his own hits as well, composed and produced by Barry Gibb who also sings back up. Andy is like a twin to Barry even though they are 12 years apart.
@@nathanisakssonYeah.,bit late but..this song is from the album Main Course released in '75.This was a 'career saving'album for the Beegees..they needed hit records again so...they wrote this entire album in two weeks.Pop,country,R&B..no disco.Disco was to come later, and was only a very small part of their five decade career.
Actually this was the song when Barry discovered he could sing in falsetto. This is funk and R&B, the direction Bee Gees wanted to take their music at this time. If you listen to Bee Gees music you’ll realize that they loved to experiment with different instruments and sounds. That was a great reaction. Please react to SUBWAY, a funky and R&B fantastic song.from their Children Of The World 1976 album. ❤❤❤
I remember learning that about Barry's falsetto from the HBO documentary. That is such a great documentary. I was surprised that Barry had no idea he could do it. I went into the bathroom to see if maybe I too didn't know that I could sing falsetto. One - two- three and "screeeeech"... nope, I can't do it.
@@angelinasanchez5083 I sounded like a cat being strangled. LOL When I watch that documentary, it makes me cry. Barry seems so alone. I can't imagine what that's like after the lives they've had.
Exactly, after this song their songs were filled with the falsetto. It was a producer who asked for Barry to scream to add intensity. He asked scream in tune? Yep that’s what I want.
This was the first song where Barry used his super high falsetto voice. It became his style thereafter. You should check out their EARLY stuff from like 1967 some time, you will be surprised.
Watching this live on the show "The Midnight Special" it's Maurice singing the falsetto in this one - plus, his baseline is fire, as always. Great reaction!
Their drummer at the height of their '70s success was a man named, Dennis Bryon, from the capital city of Cardiff, Wales, in the United Kingdom. He was one HELLUVA drummer who was responsible for practically all of the beats behind the Bee Gees' biggest hits. He just died three weeks ago at the age of 75 in Nashville, TN.
When Jimmy Fallon was on SNL, he did a skit called “Barry Gibb Talk Show” and this was used as the theme (with different lyrics). I can’t sing this song now without those lyrics. The last time they did the skit, Barry Gibb came onstage and sang it with them! (Added bonus: Justin Timberlake played “Robin”).
The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988. The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1966. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin' (and was also actually the first album on which their logo was introduced). From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too ua-cam.com/video/7niXSh7vWRI/v-deo.html Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: ua-cam.com/video/WH_j90fCIk4/v-deo.html, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out ua-cam.com/video/vfHUS5Mf00Q/v-deo.html. Its sooo good. Every single song on the Main Course 1975 album is fire and this was my favorite song of all of them! In this song they are "singing them love songs" "to that crazy, crazy town" ( NYC & Broadway symbolizes the night life.) Blaming it on the nights on Broadway insinuates temptation!! And his girlfriend is not having it ( "Even if I have to wait a lifetime" for her, but he senses that she "never ever left my side".) Then came the Spirits Having Flown Album in 1979 and Too Much Heaven and Love You Inside Out ( funky) became my #1 and #2 favorite with Nights on Broadway tying for #2 favorite. I must admit though I have another dozen faves that tie for #2 position!🎉.❤❤❤😢
Just came across your channel listening to the awesome Bee Gees. Your excitement gets me going, I can see you are truly happy about finding these treasures, which is what they are. All these brothers can sing as a matter of fact they all do lead songs. They are writers doing all their songs which are in the thousands and they have written for many other well known artist. The oldest brother is Barry and the other two Robin (no beard) and Maurice (balding) are twins. They have been singing together since they were 9 for Barry and 6 for Robin and Mo. There is so much talent in this family in all they do. I have been privileged to have listened to them all my life and always will. They sing songs that make you feel better or want to get up and dance. It is a blessing to see you and others actually get excited to hear their music. I enjoyed your reaction so very much. Looking forward to hearing more Bee Gees!!!
The tasty beat laid down by Dennis Bryon is one of the main things that makes this song groove so well. The way he displaces the backbeat during the introduction is subtle but incredibly effective. The speed of his right hand on the hi-hat is awesome too. I can make it maybe halfway through this one and my hand is starting to burn. Dennis has amazing technique.
The brother without the beard is Robin Gibb. Although it was by choice. There are pictures of him with a full beard, but he usually shaved. Brother Barry was singing the falsetto.
This song is where Barry first discovered his falsetto. After the song was recorded he was asked if he could scream in tune. His famous falsetto with all the ad libs and screaming was born.

Hey you are cool and you look cool and you love the Bee gees which you can't go wrong with the the Bee gees another great song for whom the Bell tolls.
You are such fun to watch. You make it even more fun to listen to the Bee Gees. And i thought that was impossible. "they got the greenlight. The only man who can moan in my ear" so funny. 😂😂
Yeah bro I agree --- killer tune here! Easily one of my favorites of theirs. Bro, seriously, check out their song "Love You Inside and Out" -- (unless you did already, I'm gonna check) I think it's my favorite of theirs, and that's not easy to reach. You asked about Broadway -- you got it -- it's the main theater district in NYC. A concentrated area. Expensive, big shows. I've been to 1 or 2, a long time ago. Not sure how many theaters it consists of but that's the main idea. There is also "Off-Broadway" and "Off-off Broadway" -- which basically means smaller theaters where they don't charge nearly as much, with lesser-known performers and writers.
That guy doing that that high Echo singing in the background that's Maurice. Maurice like Barry has a real good high-pitched falsetto. What they're doing is Robin and barrier singing blaming it all on the nights on Broadway and Maurice is repeating that in a very high falsetto voice that sounds kind of like Echo it's almost like they're echoing the line but that's Maurice and I think that is one of my favorite parts of this whole song I just love that. Also in this song don't know if you realized it or not but Barry is singing in the mid to low register parts of the song.
Hey bro I lived thru that era, Bee Gee's were always top notch from the mid 60's seeing them in concert at the Montreal Forum, thru the 70's "How can you mend this broken heart" is one of my favorites from them with an arm length of others.. So awesome to see you tripping on them bro..!! ✌👊
This was the song were Barry discovered his unusually high falsetto due to a producer asking him to produce a scream at the end of the song. Barry then became the frontman for the group and his great falsetto became legendary.
There is a live version of this from The Midnight Special (I think) where you can see what parts each brother is singing if you want to check it out on your own time.
Bee Gees just had too many hits. Another massive hit you should check out is "Tragedy", as well as a non-disco hit "I Started a Joke". Love the reactions!!
That's Maurice playing bass, and KILLIN' it! I bought the Rickenbacker 4001 in my photo just because he played one just like it in the Jive Talkin' live video! 😄That's Barry singing the background highs in this studio recording, but Maurice does them in the live concerts. Look for the 'Midnight Special' stage version...KICKIN'!
Shon, I just love you...I think you're great and you always do an outstanding job. Of all the people doing reaction vids, you are seriously the best. Your channel should grow like wildfire. Best of luck, And just so you know, Maurice did all the ad-libs in this song. Watch a live version and you'll see him as well as hear him and his falsetto.

The Bee Gees we’re real Geniuses, they were Awesome . Yea , if include Andy their baby brother all of them had fantastic falsetto and deep incredible voices also , they were Awesome .
It was originally called Lights on Broadway. They just wanted to do a song that sounded very "New York." Yes, Broadway is an area of New York where there are theatres all lined up. the best place in the country to see a play or musical. Very "New York." And p.s., Robin actually did have a very full beard for a little while. LOL He was actually pretty hairy. He COULD grow a beard, he just chose to stay clean shaven.
An amazing track, it has lost nothing of its magic after all those years. Barry recalled that the original tittle was 'All the lights on Broadway' . However their record company CEO said; "No, no, no - You have to spice things up a little". So it became Nights on Broadway.

you should check out the live version from the Midnight Special 1975 - you see Barry sing normal (baritone) , Robin do falsetto on parts of verses and Maurice (Mo) sing falsetto especially at end

You've got it! They own genius and also a level of standalone. Not to compare at all. Check'em out with 'Heavy Breathing'.
