Dude. My sister is schizophrenic. She SOUNDS sound of mind in her delusions. People seem to think schizophrenia means nonsensical outbursts. It’s not. If a person didn’t know any better it’d be real hard to tell it was a delusion. She absolutely 💯 was experiencing a delusion in that 911 call. That’s really obvious to people who have experienced them first hand.
Agreed. Have you heard a true 911 call when a home invasion is occurring? The person is always terrified, hiding, quiet, unsure. Even in the one where the girl shot the intruder! She was so brave yet scared.
Mental illness/depression/exhaustion or none of the above should NEVER discredit the importance of any missing person. This needs to be reminded. Thank you for sharing this
It doesn’t discredit it at all, or it shouldn’t but why would you pretend it’s not a thing, preventing the case from being solved because you’re changing the perceived mindset of the person meaning the authorities aren’t gonna be looking in the same places for them!!
Cannot agree. Violent crime is a vastly different proposition, for obvious reasons. Much more significant, because there is real danger to others involved. Besides, people die as a result of "disease" all the time. Completely different, and does not require discussion.
@@bevcrusher4177 wait are you saying that a missing person with a mental illness does not need to be discussed? A missing person is a missing person, their life could still be in danger even if no one else is involved, not to mention a person suffering from a mental illness can be more likely to be the victim of violence from a predator
“Crazy”, or addicted, or sex workers, or suicidal, or a “normal” man, woman, child, EVERYONE deserves to be searched for and deserves every effort put forward to find them and/or what truly happened to them. @@ninachkah13 thank you. I’m so sorry. I’m paraplegic & people always assume I wrecked dui or speeding, when it was black ice on my way to 1 of my 2 jobs and college 18yrs ago, so I somewhat understand. I think empathy is the biggest emotion people lack these days. If everyone had just a little more, the world would be a much better place♥️
Big difference between being alone and creeped out and having a roommate in the same living space, telling you nobody is there yet still being creeped out. Sounding coherent has nothing to do with mental health crisis all the time. I feel untalked about and hushed past family tragedy's, suppressed emotions could be a factor here. It sounds like the family had a code of sweeping the bad under the carpet as to move on as quickly and positively as possible.
Yeah idk why Rachel is being so naive about this.... she’s like acting personally offended for some reason which I understand but you have to be realistic and honest to SOLVE the case
Yeah during my friends psychotic break, she made me turn off all the electronics in the house because she said she was being spied on and started telling me her "secrets". What she was saying was delusional, but she said it like she was gossiping and for the first two minutes or so I thought she was actually telling me secrets. If you're not listening closely, it can sound harmless. People in psychosis aren't just screaming all the time
Yesss. My grandmother was schizophrenic and she could function. She raised her kids but she had delusions she thought were real and would act upon them. Being mentally ill doesn’t equal rambling weirdo
So a family demanding investigators investigate their missing loved ones suspicious death means they sweep hardships under the rug ? There was literally no one in her family hiding or lying about anything they had been dealing with as a family because every family has hard stuff?! I wonder how everyone would feel if their sister/ daughter/mother etc went missing and cops decided to drop the case and call your loved one crazy because they talked to their dog... like mentally ill people don’t deserve justice. Case closed. 🤷♀️🤦🏼♀️
Such a good point. If she's so used to everyone invalidating her strong feelings about what's happened in the past, she is probably used to doubting her reality :(
I have depression with pyschosis; a little different than schizophrenia, but it shares a lot of similarities. It's annoying to me when someone with a mental health condition goes missing and people say "mental illness did it". We may have a mental illness, but we still live productive lives and have families and friends. We can still be victims of foul play. While stress can trigger psychosis it doesn't explain how she ended up the way she did. Very sad
Exactly this. 6 years of stalking but i was always told it was in my head, once my family has been assulted its important, but when it was just me i needed to calm down... They keep saying "these last 8 months" its been 6 years they agree it started to happen to others to get to me though, they know of witnessed incidents over the years, they even seen it themselves when people have been sent to our door. It makes me so upset ive given up trying to explain it. They managed to convince me it wasnt real but it was so now ill never trust anyone to tell me what im hearing or seeing is or isnt real im not stupid
@@wordsleuth992 i read that sometime in 2018 he had fallen at a job and got real messed up but i couldnt get more then that on the google page but he died 8 days before his 35th bday in 2019. I read that happened in jail and it was suicide. So its hard to tell.
@@billywright4246 I read it was suicide also. But in the last version I heard it NEVER included the twin brother shooting his uncle?!???? Very confused why this would not be discussed in other videos because it seems to link to crazed minds
I don't know your experience with schizophrenia or hallucinations, but my brother is schizophrenic. During hallucinations, he absolutely yells at them to shut up. He can't tell what is real and what isn't. My mother can't even tell sometimes that he is talking to hallucinations and not real people. You have to remember that sometimes the voices or "people" tell you to hurt others or hurt yourself. She could have been compelled to go down to the water and thought she was being chased or chasing someone. Even if she hadn't had a full break yet that would lead to a diagnosis, there is often a run up of weird happenings, like paranoia, hallucinations, etc, that are mild seeming but definitely weird. That said, if they did an autopsy and suspected schizophrenia, they would have some clues if they examined her brain. I know that isn't necessarily standard, but I would have asked if that was in question, as there are organic brain differences in the structures of the brain. I do think this was a mental health crisis, but the family still deserves answers.
That is a really good point thank you for sharing. I totally agree that telling them to shut up can absolutely be because they were hallucinations but I didn’t consider that maybe she got into the water to hide from someone she thought was chasing her. That definitely puts this case into a new perspective for me
@@RachelShannon It would explain no injuries. It is so very very sad, and I am heartbroken for her family. Mental illness is often erratic and doesn't make sense to those on the outside looking in.
Yeah but I'll bet what your brother CAN'T do is throw his voice so that you can hear his laughter in the background and possibly other conversation going on. And at least SOME of US, ACTUALLY HEARD that. So unless WE'RE joining in on HER delusion, that doesn't jive with the evidence we're hearing. I don't buy that this was a mental health break on her part. Or if so, I think it was brought on by torment and was done for a purpose.
@@suzannenichols6900 My guess is that that laughter is the roommate. I agree that it feels icky. Her roommate may have egged her on. She could have been on speaker phone or something. My brother cannot throw his voice, but also absolutely insisted that the people in the hallway in his building were coming in. It is hard to know.
@@suzannenichols6900 I think the laughter was her roommate. I've witnessed a psychotic break and some of the shit my friend was doing would have been funny if it wasn't so upsetting, so if the roommate didn't understand the full picture, I can see her yelling being kinda ridiculous. Having been alone in a house with someone for several days during an episode, that call sounds very familiar. My friend called 911 on herself twice, said there'd been a murder in her bed, made me keep all the curtains shut day and night, insisted on unplugging electronics... the list goes on. It's impossible to convince someone that their delusions aren't real when they're in the thick of it. If you try, you become an enemy.
Yes I did, I've been thinking about that all the way through the video... was it someone laughing at her because she was freaking out or was it her laughing? It was really strange I definitely heard it.
@@zosocat9402 its too far in the distance, i think the roommate was laughing at her instead of also calling and explaining no one was there theyd of worked out it was probably mental health related
I think it was her laughing, as if it's like of course she is in danger because there are people in her house, and thinking how stupid could the guy be to ask that and letting out a chuckle over it instead of saying "ah duh". In her perception anyway.
Good to know if I go missing people will find videos of me talking with my dog and say I'm talking to myself 🤦🏼♀️ but this is such a sad case. Thanks for covering it! Personally, as someone who has known several people with schizophrenia and clinical paranoia, it sounds very similar to the people I have known. I hate that the world automatically labels them as "crazy" and moves on without giving them a second thought. She deserves to have her case closed, mental health crisis or not.
I’m pretty sure a tv was on. I think she had a moment, zoned out and flipped. Roommate heard her yelling and walked into her room to figure out what was going on.
I keep wondering if the roommate was trying to freak her out enough so that Kayelyn would move out. I wonder what the rent situation was, not working for a year would make routine bills nearly impossible.
I wondered the same- what if the roommate was out there making noises and then told the other people to leave and locked the door before she went into her room? She said to 911 that she heard them say something about going in there- maybe it was the roommate. I think that’s entirely possible and why the roommate isn’t talking. It’s at least a theory worth looking into I think.
@@Makeuploveculture something is definitely up with her. She is not soothing or trying to calm Kaelynn she seems like she is trying to goad her and trying to gaslight her - like look that’s not possible, the door is still locked...Carole doesn’t seem to be taking her seriously like a person would if there roommate was afraid. She responded like she knew what was going on already. Could she have set this up?? It sounds like at 11:29 that she is laughing in the background. Why wouldn’t she take Kaelynn’s concerns seriously?? It just doesn’t make sense. Maybe she was mad because Kaelynn was not paying her share of rent. We would have to know more about their relationship to know if there was a motive there. I wonder if the PI found her to be suspicious.
@@wordsleuth992 I don't necessarily agree. If my roommate was freaking out my way of calming her down would be to show her that it is not possible for anyone to have broken in, because it's locked, because nobody is on the balcony and so on. So to me it seems the logical way to go compared to try to soothe her down without proving to her she is safe.
It really does sound like either she is on drugs and hallucinating or having a mental break with schizophrenia. It seems off the way she tells the "intruder" to shut up and get out of my house! Just putting myself in that situation. I would either be really quiet on the phone with 911. Or I would open the door and confront them to yell T them to get out. I don't know what would make me yell shut up. In that particular situation. I also belive she is talking to her dog in the parking lot. Soo bizarre
I dont believe she was on drugs, hallucinations sound more likely considering the call and the roommate's behaviour, she'd probably would've noticed if she was drugged
Delusions are real to the person experiencing them! I don't know what people expect a delusional person to sound like. It's whatever they would sound like if what they think is happening really happened. For my husband, he hears a conversation and the words become threatening. We were working together once, he was excavating, I was running an on-site lab. We both heard a conversation between two students. He literally heard them planning to kill him. I heard them talking about a girl they hoped to run into at lunch. He became paranoid & defensive, sure they were an immediate danger. He sounded rational. He heard what he heard. He wanted to leave and he wanted me to fire them. He's schizophrenic. He tries to trust me, on one level he knows he has this illness. But he describes it as standing on train tracks watching a train speeding toward him while I tell him to stand still & that the train isn't real. Every signal in his brain says it is real. He doesn't go "crazy", he's not slurring words. He sounds like there's a train coming and he wants to get off the track. Her family suggesting she didn't sound delusional is evidence they don't understand what delusional sounds like. OK, rant over. Schizophrenia onset at her age would make sense but I'm only at the end of the call. Now I'll finish the video. I just wish mental illness was better understood.
That was an awesome way to explain that. I hope you don’t mind if I use your husband’s example when I educate people on mental health. It is an excellent way to explain why it is so difficult to trust those close to you that are trying to help and explains how “normal” the conversations really are in context to that person’s perception of what is happening.
That really was a clear and concise way of explaining Schizophrenia behavior. I'll have to remember that and thank you it helps me understand much better.
I work within the mental health sector and I can tell you that psychosis or schizophrenia can present itself in many ways and the way she is communicating with the dispatcher and walking in the rain with no shoes etc definitely seems suspicious.
Now days alot of people suffering from anxiety have 'Support' pets to help them cope but even if her dog wasn't classed officially as a 'Support' pet it doesn't mean that the dog helped her cope. There's many cases were people have actually been suicidal but did NOT go through with it BECAUSE of their pet/s - the animals gave them the reason to go on and there's still situations now where people's pets give them a reason to live. So as her bond with her dog was so important, along with the other incidents mentioned I don't think it was suicide. It's a case that really makes you think as something is definitely 'off' about what's happened. Also I think ANYBODY who has owned a dog knows that it's a common occurrence of talking to your dog...especially if your taking them outside to go to the toilet and are trying to encourage them to hurry up as it's cold and wet!!! There's even owner's of cats, rats, horses, rabbits, ferrets, raccoons, birds and many other species who talk to their animal/s all the time and unless your bird talks the only real thing people should be concerned with is if the animal TALKS BACK!🤣🤣🤣
I don't know if anyone else heard this..but it was kinda creepy given the situation. When she's on the phone with the 911 operator, you can hear (at exactly 11:29) someone in the background laughing. It was a clear "ha ha ha ha". 😕 Don't know what it was or who it was...but I thought it was strange. I supose it could have been a TV on in the background or something?
Great work, Rachel! You look especially beautiful. I too have full conversations and sing to my pup. So I’m in agreement with you. This case has been on my mind for quite a while now. I hope and pray her family and friends get answers soon.

peace be with Kayelen and her family. I recently lost my big sister who (just like Kayelen) was depressed from being unemployed for a year due to covid. She was so good at hiding her depression, me and my sister knew she was sad about things but we had no idea to what extent. She would hide her pain and I feel like she was starting to change as a person and had sad eyes. She felt like she had nothing just like Kayelyn... what beautiful souls that we have lost.
If she was a social worker I wonder if she was involved with any nasty custody issues or something that could be some powerful motives. Also she was definitely talking to her dog I have talked to my animals just like that it looked like she was calling her pug to her
They need to look at people in or around her condo..the clothing could suggest she didn't plan to go far. I have a condo and I literally walk around in my PJs during the day if I'm just outside my door or if I have to run to my car but if I'm going down the block I'll throw something nicer on. She was probably staying in or very near to her building.
I'm wondering if she really pissed off someone from the wedding party at the clubhouse Friday night. Having the cops show up at your wedding reception would put a damper on things.
2 things, her twin brother had mental issiues, wouldn't that make her mor prone to that? And about the guns at the party, could have been fireworks? Also (can't remember if you mentioned this) but her twin passed away 2019.
@@heather_doestruecrime they make it seem so improbable. With her family saying they have not seen any signs. I can tell you from own experience with depression that my family does know the least about my mental health struggles. For some reason it’s easier to confide in a stranger.

Great video, Rachel. I really appreciate the way you tell these stories in a really respectful way without trying to sensationalize everything. Also you don't make unbelievably stupid fake "surprise" faces in your thumbnails. Gotta love that. 😍☺
I just found her last week and appreciate these things as well. Channels playing creepy music and putting on a dramatic, campfire-story voice just don't sit right with me, serious subjects and all..
I'm getting major Elisa Lam vibes from this situation. I'm gunna have to go occum's razor on this one. Yes, theres some very weird circumstances but i think the evidence overwhelmingly points to a mental break. Would like more info from the roommate tho
The roommate was involved in a sick mind game in which you harass a person when they're are no witnesses that would tell. They harass until they get to a situation that they make you feel threatened and in danger. Then when you call the cops or try to get help. They either leave like they left Kayelynn's apartment or they just stop talking and turn around and act like nothing happened. These things happen right in front of people right under their noses but you notice because it is an art of illusion. Slight of hand but not just the hand, anything and everything that can be used for the illusion is used just like a magician uses slight of hand.
@@jackson4665 what’s the point of doing this kinda thing though? I’ve genuinely never heard of gangstalking before and I’m entirely confused on why anyone would do that to someone? Just to have a sick laugh at their expense? Or something more sinister?
@@justjessy2148 For more sinister purposes. Yes they do it for a sick laugh but mostly when someone threatens to call the police and ruin their fun and get people arrested they love to destroy and/or kill people over reasons like that.
I'm not too convinced that she may have been meeting up with someone that day. The fact that she was barefoot outside (especially when it's cold and rainy) doesn't sound like someone who had plans to go anywhere or meet up with anyone. I mean, you would at least put on a pair of shoes/sneakers before leaving to go somewhere. I personally wouldn't have even gone as far as out in the parking area to take out my dog without putting on shoes. So I really am stumped with this one. 😞 I don't even have an idea of what to think.
I often walk barefoot no matter if it’s a long walk or if it’s cold, when my shoes break and become hurtful to wear and I still didn’t have time/money to buy new ones, sometimes people have no choice. I would guess a year without working potentially could get you in that position too
When I'm just going to let my dog out and come right back in, I often go outside without my shoes, even in the rain. But I never actually go anywhere without shoes on. Even though she was unemployed, she had an apartment and her mom was checking in on her everyday, I don't think she was so broke that she didn't have shoes.
I put off watching this video for a long time. Im so glad I've finally seen it! The reason I put it off was because I was so tired of people portraying her as "crazy", therefore not as important to find as a "normal" person. I have so much respect for you for making this video the way that you did! You're advocating for the *victim* ! Thanks for all that you do!❤
I think her roommate set her up to make her look paranoid because soon as those people knew that this girl was on the phone and it was getting serious they took off and then the roommate starts to talk to her and assure her that she's just crazy.
That doesn’t explain her first two unfounded 911 calls one of which she was incoherent. Honestly I don’t think there is really much mystery here on what happened
I found that really disturbing that the roommate isn’t concerned or trying to calm her - that is concerning. If your roommate was worried someone was breaking in to your apartment wouldn’t you be concerned and/or ask questions to find out why she thought someone was breaking in?? And ask her questions to find out what she saw/heard. She sounds dismissive and uncaring. We need to know more about the roommate and their relationship. Did she help search for Kaelynn??
Rachel you are just so lovely, the way you address these cases is with such kindness, compassion and understanding. You are very good at what you do!! ❤️
look i dont care if she ”didnt sound delusional” that phone call was CLEARLY her having some kind of mental break and being completely paranoid. i dont understand how anyone can listen to that recording and think thats somehow normal behaviour. so sad that it ended in her death, rest in peace kayelyn.
19:35 slowed & zoomed on a big screen, she can be seen quickly looking back over her right shoulder, as if checking for a pursuer - just as she's exiting the frame. That rock is actually a very large boulder, not a pile of rocks.
Kind of reminds me of Elisa Lam. I feel like the roommate knows so much more, even the tiniest of details matter, when you're stacking up a case like this. I never thought her roommate had anything to do with this, but more insight on her behavior and personality leading up to this.
I think they are on drugs or something, why wouldn't the room mate be like chill it was me, or my TV or whatever...it def sounded like for atleast part of that call, if not the whole thing, the roommate was in the same room as her...why wouldn't she be like there's no one here, or take the phone and tell them no one was there...drugs could explain it, maybe it was the first time they did meth or something like that and they were extremely paranoid... idk it doesn't make any sense really. Mental health issues, plus drugs.. could def explain a lot
I just don't understand the room mate... she denied that anyone was in their apartment that day, but we can clearly hear that she's talking to her roommate and she's talking back.. so wtf...if no one was there whyyy would she let her stay on the phone with the cops... maybe she was messing with kaylyn to be an ahole and she had someone there orrr was making the noises knowing kaylyn would freak out. She lived with her so she obviously knew ALOT about her. MAYBE the roommate had enough of her craziness and delusions and did it to her orrr she was trying to "prank" her and it went to far 🤔👀. This case is really strange and I feel so bad for everyone involved, because they have no answers, no justice, no closure, literally nothing, except her body that somehow ended up in water. Dead.
It can be really difficult to pinpoint strange behavior leading to the big first break in schizophrenia. It also feels awful to think that you missed it or just blew it off as someone being weird. Talking about it is strange and difficult. It is tough to know if the animated conversation you heard happening was them on the phone, or them talking to someone only they could see. It would be quite a burden to bear as the roommate to feel like you never called her parents or got her help and then she wound up dead. I can understand her not speaking on it publicly.
Ahh. This case has always bothered me. I lived in the same city when this happened. All the media seemed to report on was how crazy it was that she was seen talking to herself outside and no one in their right mind would be outside in that weather dressed as she was. I live in shorts and tank tops, even in Utah winters, and I hate wearing shoes 🤷♀️ it’s really not that uncommon. What I think is CRAZY is that she ended up dead in the Jordan River which is notorious for being a dumping ground for bodies. 🤔🤔🤔🤔 I wish the roommate would have provided more information. She knows something.
I also live in the area, also disturbed by the case. I went to HS with kaylynn it’s absolutely a terrible tragedy and it legit enrages me to read people say things about this beautiful soul or her family. All families have people in them with drug problems, mental health problems they just did not want to look into her case it was so easy to call her a nut cause she talked to her dog it felt like they were just glad they had an easy case to close and not do the work .. 🥺 plus none of these people are local and know that it’s literally impossible to float anywhere in the jordan river in the fall cause it’s basically empty in most areas of the river.. they also look at her apartment complex security video and assume she lives in some rural area but her complex is smack dab in the middle of a very busy highly populated area and she could not have traveled 6 miles in the pouring rain barefoot without being seen by passerby’s or on any private or business security video. Someone took her no if’s ands or but’s about it.
And her roommate literally did everything to appear like she was involved. I don’t necessarily believe she was (not sure)but I think someone was messing with her I think the roommate wanted her out for whatever reason maybe she had a friend she wanted to move in but these two roommates (Kaylynn and Carol) did not seem to be friends at all when Kaylynn went missing.
As someone who witnessed schizophrenia in family members multiple times in the past, I am inclined to believe that she was being dellusional. Being coherent unfortunately does not mean anything in this situation, my sister managed to actually convince my mother about her dellusions being real, that´s how rational she seemed ... it only dawned on her when my sister started being manic and telling her that someone was behind their door and she didn´t see and hear anything. Maybe she was just so scared that someone was pursuing her that she just decided to end her life then and there ... or she wandered of and just encountered a monster on her way and in her condition didn´t stand a chance against them. I know it is hard to accept mental illness in someone we love but it seems to me the most likely explanation. Even leaving the dog behind is not that crazy in this context, speaking from experience. It is a problem that people have a tendency to jump to the conclusion of mental illness, however I think it is just as damaging to pretend that mental illness doesn´t exist. We need to normalize it, that is how we help people like her. Then people won´t dismiss disappearances like this and will put as much effort into solving these cases as into any other. Mental illness is just as valid of a reason to disappear as a real danger, not to mention that to the people experiencing dellusions and hallucinations, all of it is VERY REAL.

She mentioned to her roomate having the hide a key on her person and her parents said her keys were with her. Maybe she had misplaced her set of keys and someone else had them and let themselves in.
That was one of the weirdest 911 calls I heard...the dispatcher was acting like he didn’t know what to say and was asking questions that I’m sure are routine but all that awkward silence idk it was just weird and that laughing in the background at 11:29 was creepy and Rachel your skin looks so gorgeous ♥️♥️ what foundation do you use?
I just cannot get over that 911 call. As someone who has listened to many intruder calls and emergency calls, they ALWAYS whisper. What intruder is going to listen to the home owner yelling at them and clearly on the phone with 911. They would've attacked her or left so fast. I find it so hard to believe they were there THAT LONG with her on the phone with 911 and yelling at them. I understand her body was badly decomposed but there was absolutely no sign of a struggle. So unless the cops are full of it, which I can never fully rule out with any case, seems likely she had an unfortunate accident or did commit suicide unfortunately.
I suffer from mental health issues. Paranoid schizophrenia, suicidal thoughts, and depression. It is not a fun thing to have. Alot of people don't understand what it's like. An it is not easy talking about it to people cause it is hard to explain what you are through or how your feeling. Because your mind is all over the place, an so are your feelings when you suffer from those mental issues like I have. She could have been going them same problems like I do
Omg same!! the way I talk to my dogs is absolutely ridiculous and I know I sound and look like an absolute odd ball as my partner has recorded me doing it 😂
Me too! Lol with my cats though. I’m home by myself most of the day and I talk to them like I’m talking to kids. My daughter came over one day and thought I was babysitting and when she realized I was alone she said who are you talking to? I said the cats. She laughed and thought I was hearing voices or something. Sometimes when I’m talking to them someone else will answer me and I’m like I wasn’t talking to you I was talking to the cat. Lol.
Also during the 911 call, I hear a laugh in background and after I hear talking and weird noises.....I've listened to it over and over..it's creepy and def hear something . maybe tv idk???
I know it’s disgusting. My kids dr told her that even ssri can cause delusions. Maybe because she was out of a job she was prescribed something that didn’t work for her and made her delusional. My gma did at one point during her diabetes issues!
Oh wow I can't believe I almost missed this video I was just going to sleep in today wasn't going to do anything but I couldn't sleep anymore so I got on UA-cam and behold Rachel has another video uploaded guess I'm going to be up a lot longer than I thought
So, my two cents about that 911 call. I just witnessed my best friend have a psychotic break, and she sounded exactly the same way when she was telling me about all of her devices being spied on by the FBI and other delusions that she was having. She sounded the same way when she spoke to paramedics after she called 911 on herself.I had to pull them aside and tell them that she needed to be evaluated mentally, not just physically, when she went to the hospital, because she could have fooled people
@@kryer981 unfortunately it's really hard to actually get someone to seek help once they're over 18, especially when they're having delusions because they think anybody who doesn't accept their delusions is out to get them. It's a shitty position for a roommate to be in. We ended up having to 5150 my friend and she's been in and out of treatment but we can't make her do anything :(
Also, this video is a good illustration of how true crime fans, will all check out a case, & then present their opinions & ideas, & then argue with each other, but most people are not that informed on all the variables that could be involved. People who don't know much about mental health will decide she faked it, or was high, or whatever their scope of understanding includes. I think its really important for people to know what they know AND what they don't know. You should understand that you don't know much about certain things.
I just found your channel and subscribed 🥰 your voice is very calming to me and I love how you show respect for everyone involved in these cases… oh, & the beanie boo/baby in the back! 😝 my daughter collects them so they always remind me of her ❤️
So her roommate waited a few days before saying anything even though her roommates dog was there... hmmm strange to me. Definitely think this roommate knows something. Guilt will eat people alive unfortunately.
That is super suspicious. Maybe she had left the dog with the roommate with no notice before? But it sounded like she was a good pet owner, so.. The roommate sticks out to me.
I agree, and she obviously left the apt somehow without the dog, she could’ve changed at that point too. Is there a way she could’ve left that day without surveillance catching it? I think the fact that these videos aren’t time stamped and could be out of order very SUS. Also, where was the dog when she hurried back to her apt barefoot and came back out?
I hate when the media twists things and tries to make a missing person or victim seem like something they're not. I feel so horrible for her poor family. The not knowing has to be just awful.
Great video as always. Thanks for your work, you deserve more subs, keep it going 🍀 Still, it's a sad case as always, she had her entire life in front of her 😓
Seems really off to me the way she is shouting “get out of my house” like if I genuinely thought there were intruders in my house I would be as quiet as possible whilst on the phone. I think this was probably a psychotic break, very sad situation.
I think you're totally right about hearing noises when you live in an apartment. I even had one year where I was using drugs and was not in a good mental state and I would get so paranoid at every little noise. So, not to say she was using, but if she was in a difficult mental state I can definitely see how that could happen :(
I don't think it's weird at all that she seems to be talking to "herself." I do it all the time and I know lots of people who talk to themselves when they're alone, whether it's to think aloud or rehearsing random scenarios in their heads, haha.
I think the dog is actually central to this. What may happened is that she thought she lost the dog while she was out taking it for a walk/poop. Under the idea that the dog had gone wandering she may have went out of her way to look for the dog. Its her last thing and very important to her. Combine that with the mental break/episodes and you have a person following a dog/hearing dog barks and eventually jumping into a faster part of the river and drowining thinking the dog had somehow ended up in the water. I just wanna know how the dog ended up back in the apartment. Who brought in? Did she? Did her roommate? The answer is the dog
I actually listened to this story on a different channel. They never mentioned where the dog ended up. So I searched it up on this channel. I agree. The dog is a weird part of this investigation
Does anyone know if she was on birth control? I have always had depression and anxiety but never delusions. When I went on the pill I got so paranoid I thought I was being followed by a demon. I almost called the cops on a man walking his dog because I was positive he was stalking me, I threatened people constantly because I thought they were following me. I went off it and I’m back to my normal self. People rarely talk about birth control affecting the mind or causing paranoia. I think the noises in the background of the call were TVand she heard the TV and thought ppl were in there. She saw ppl hanging outside and felt followed. I can totally feel myself acting that way. Doesn’t explain her death, but I don’t feel like foul ply was involved.
I just made a comment on how it could be prescribed medication that can even cause hallucinations. I’d like to know what medications she may have been on
She was talking toher dog. And even could be playing.with the dog. That could of been here in font of the silver vehicle putting on rain gear then left. Then the red car went and picked her up. And got rid of her. Her roommate could be tormenting her getting her confuse. Making her look crazy. To gain something from her They could of pushed her in the water
I talk to my cat like she’s a toddler. Full conversations and I answer for her! By these standards they use for her, I would be a completely insane person. I promise I am not. 😂 I remember when this happened and I feel like it’s easier to cover up not taking her seriously than it is to say maybe they didn’t do as much as they could have after she made that call. 😢 Very strange case especially with her dog being back in her apartment!! 😮
I love living in an apartment. Unlike houses, there's only one entry way, and depending on your door and/or the building door, it can be incredibly difficult to get in. At one point I lived in an apartment where the flat doors were extremely flimsy, no different than an unsecured bathroom door, and it was *W E I R D* how it sounded like people were with you in your flat even when they were literally chilling in their own living room. I got used to it fast, but even with a very secure door, I can still jump up when people are unlocking their doors because it's very loud and sounds like it's my door being tried 🥶
And even if she was mentally unwell (which i don't believe) then that means she doesnt deserve to be found or looked for or protected???? Bc it anything, those mentally unstable should have MORE importance????
Wow, you are right, this and the Holly Ellsworth case are *VERY* eerily similar. The panicked phone calls, the odd footage of their final appearances, the fear that someone was after them, the suggestions that they may have been having schizophrenic breaks, both of their bodies being found under bridges in water, the autopsies being inconclusive as to the causes of death, and they even had similar faces and hair styles. So unsettling.
I live in an apartment and I know that sometimes my neighbors will do something in their unit and it sounds like it’s in mine. I was there is she could’ve heard her neighbors.
The Room mate, after hearing the chances of most theories happening, I think would be the most possible, if something from one of those other theories hadn’t happened. From outside I would say that the room mate to me , or someone she trusted, would be the most probable theory (as you said). I was thinking that as well. Thanks for brightening my day a bit. (I always enjoy seeing your face) Enjoy
I would like to add that if she by chance sought help for her depression and was given medicine, paranoia/hallucinations can be a side effect when you drink ANY alcohol . My mother would drink on her meds and she had the same side effects
It blows my mind that people continued to say she was talking to herself when, exactly like you said, she VERY CLEARLY was talking to her dog. Clearly. And I agree she sounded worried in the 911 call but definitely coherent. Something doesn’t add up at all. This poor girl 😢
I think she was talking to her dog. She was bent over in a position that would indicate she was talking to him in my opinion. It’s sad that some people will twist anything to get a more clickbaity headline or a more dramatic story. I’m sure there are people who genuinely do believe she was talking to herself (and there’s nothing wrong with that) but I feel a majority just twisted it to hype it up. Sad, sad. 😞
We can't even rule out that she she was talking on an earpiece connected to her phone or something. Nothing was said about phone records, and there was no time stamp, so you just don't know. However, it is also true that many schizophrenic hallucinations happen where the voices tell you to hurt the person or animal you love. She could have been arguing with a voice/hallucination about keeping the dog safe. Schizophrenic breaks don't make a lot of sense, and are very scary for all involved.
I agree also

Thank you for sharing this
^^^ this
It doesn’t discredit it at all, or it shouldn’t but why would you pretend it’s not a thing, preventing the case from being solved because you’re changing the perceived mindset of the person meaning the authorities aren’t gonna be looking in the same places for them!!

Very sad

@@suzannenichols6900
I think the laughter was her roommate.
Did anyone else hear that creepy laugh in background on the 911 call??
Yes I did, I've been thinking about that all the way through the video... was it someone laughing at her because she was freaking out or was it her laughing? It was really strange I definitely heard it.
Thought it too was someone else or her laughing.
I thought it was her laughing, like she was just making a prank call.
These cases makes me feel so heartbroken for the families. Not having the answers and wondering what truly happened to their loved ones.
I'm just thankful they found her body.
@@kryer981 absolutely. At least the family isn't waiting day after day, year after year, just wondering
People need to stop saying crazy. Having a mental illness does not mean crazy at all. I avoid that word at all costs. Mental illness is hard enough
There is a part of the call when she is talking you can hear a laugh in the background. Roommate? Or someone else?
I know so creepy
That literally gave me chills.
I heard that too but it didn't sound like the roommate.
Yes! You can hear that laughter. It's creepy, it wasn't the roommate I don't think. Such a strange case
@@wordsleuth992 Ya I thought it was just me but I too heard the laughing in the background while she was talking to the dispatcher
I think that she was having a drug induced hallucinations. She didn’t seem entirely panicked by an intruder being in the home.
There were no drugs found in her system.

This eerily reminds me of the Elisa Lam case
You explained that beautifully. 💯💞
@@GenXfrom75 thank you 💕
That was an awesome way to explain that.
The video of the car gives me the creeps. I definitely think something more is involved. I don't think she was being paranoid.
You look so pretty as always Rachel, another great coverage, that's for the video.
Wow, no kidding…. Those eyes, OMG. She is also very articulate, the camera obviously loves her. She should be a TV journalist.
Thank you. This is such an interesting case. And I like how you present it with a lot of compassion for Kayelyn.

@@jackson4665 I think so as well
@@jackson4665 what’s the point of doing this kinda thing though?
I don't even have an idea of what to think.
Thanks for all that you do!❤
Agreed. Rachel does try to treat everybody fairly.
I do believe the roomate was the one that was heard laughing in the background, almost mocking her paranoia..so sad
It's strange that her roommate doesn't seem to have been questioned? Has she said anything at all about the incident?
I would find it more suspicious if she didn't talk to her dog very animated.
Rachel you are just so lovely, the way you address these cases is with such kindness, compassion and understanding. You are very good at what you do!! ❤️
Girl thank you so much for the high quality and consistent content. I always get so hype when you upload. You’re the best❤️
look i dont care if she ”didnt sound delusional” that phone call was CLEARLY her having some kind of mental break and being completely paranoid. i dont understand how anyone can listen to that recording and think thats somehow normal behaviour. so sad that it ended in her death, rest in peace kayelyn.
19:35 slowed & zoomed on a big screen, she can be seen quickly looking back over her right shoulder, as if checking for a pursuer - just as she's exiting the frame.
That rock is actually a very large boulder, not a pile of rocks.
Sad, no matter how she ended up in that water. Her family is in my prayers. 💔
Kind of reminds me of Elisa Lam. I feel like the roommate knows so much more, even the tiniest of details matter, when you're stacking up a case like this. I never thought her roommate had anything to do with this, but more insight on her behavior and personality leading up to this.
Exactly. Like I don’t think her roommate did anything but I feel like she knows more than she’s saying
Right? And it didn't seem strange to the roommate that her dog was probably making noises in the room, pooping all over the place...
Agreed. My grandmother was schizophrenic and still managed to appear normal while have delusions. It’s so sad
Are you guys listening? Someone can have delusions or hallucinations and NOT be schizophrenic
@@aprilsilvers381 correct. Some medications prescribed by drs can cause hallucinations and fogged thought and behaviors that are extremely unusual for a person. It would be interesting to know what prescriptions she was on.
This case is always on my mind. For years! I want to know what really happened. Was her roommate fucking with her? Was she losing her mind? It's scary.
It really is scary
I also thought that maybe her room mate was fucking with her, maybe something happened between the two and kaylin ended up dead, obviously the room mate would have had to have help to get her to the creek ,or was she having a manic episode ???so frustrating and 💔,I 🙏 answers are found one day 💖🇬🇧
The roommate is suspicious as hell especially seeing her car slow down while passing the first part of the structure and slowing down while passing the end of it. Why was she coming from behind the woods and opposite of the garage
@@mattiegarcia9866 yeah I agree hun, also it does sound like there is some one else with the room mate at first on that 999 call,I might be wrong,I feel like her and her room mate weren’t close that’s the vibe I got from the call,rm not trying to comfort Kaitlyn etc, yeah her car going past is defo suspicious!!and the fact her dog was at home makes me think that some thing happened in there home ,maybe kaytlyn was having an episode and her room mate took it personally???im just guessing and this is all IMO sending 💖and🙏from 🇬🇧 in the hope justice is served or the truth is found out .💖🇬🇧
Roommate is sus!!!!!
I love your hair like this, Rachel! Thank you for the important work you do bringing attention to these cases. Sending love from New York!
I live in Utah and there is always bodies being found in the Jordan river... I don’t think she went there herself
She mentioned to her roomate having the hide a key on her person and her parents said her keys were with her. Maybe she had misplaced her set of keys and someone else had them and let themselves in.
Good thought, very possible
I'm a pet sitter and dog walker, and I can tell you that I have full blown animated conversations with all of my clients 😂
She could have been going them same problems like I do
I had a sister who believed someone was out to kill us. Sadly, she killed herself. Perhaps Kayelyn did also.
Omg same!! the way I talk to my dogs is absolutely ridiculous and I know I sound and look like an absolute odd ball as my partner has recorded me doing it 😂
Lol.
Woooooo!! Thank you for what you do!
Can you please cover Anthonette Cayedito? New to your channel and I love you so much already!
Also during the 911 call, I hear a laugh in background and after I hear talking and weird noises.....I've listened to it over and over..it's creepy and def hear something
. maybe tv idk???
I don't think it was the TV I think it was conversation between the roommate and somebody else who was there.
There is definitely someone laughing and talking in the background.
"One man's ceiling is another man's floor"
People LOVE to ignore schrizophrenia in young adults.
What about a previous tenant or the maintenance people for the condos with a master key.
Your voice is so soothing. Thank you for the video.
So, my two cents about that 911 call. I just witnessed my best friend have a psychotic break, and she sounded exactly the same way when she was telling me about all of her devices being spied on by the FBI and other delusions that she was having. She sounded the same way when she spoke to paramedics after she called 911 on herself.I had to pull them aside and tell them that she needed to be evaluated mentally, not just physically, when she went to the hospital, because she could have fooled people
Sounds like Kayelyn's roommate should have spoken up about her being examined. I'm glad you said something.
Great storytelling, as always. Also, your skin is literally glowing!! 🖤 👌
Roommate is sus!!
@@SallyDollx13x I would be curious to know when her body was found what she was wearing...
2:20
At 5:19 she said “umm.. I just wanna answer that while (s)he is here”
i believe that Kayelyn and her case have been misunderstood. I hope answers are found soon 💜
I hate when the media twists things and tries to make a missing person or victim seem like something they're not. I feel so horrible for her poor family. The not knowing has to be just awful.
Great video as always. Thanks for your work, you deserve more subs, keep it going 🍀
Still, it's a sad case as always, she had her entire life in front of her 😓
Seems really off to me the way she is shouting “get out of my house” like if I genuinely thought there were intruders in my house I would be as quiet as possible whilst on the phone.
I agree, I talk to myself too but it's usually kind of quiet, under my breath and I never gesture to myself, that's the odd part about it to me.
Is it just me, or is that laughter in the background immediately after the officer asks “Can you still hear them?” at 11:28?
I think the dog is actually central to this. What may happened is that she thought she lost the dog while she was out taking it for a walk/poop. Under the idea that the dog had gone wandering she may have went out of her way to look for the dog. Its her last thing and very important to her. Combine that with the mental break/episodes and you have a person following a dog/hearing dog barks and eventually jumping into a faster part of the river and drowining thinking the dog had somehow ended up in the water.
I just wanna know how the dog ended up back in the apartment. Who brought in? Did she? Did her roommate?
The answer is the dog
The dog being in the apartment proves by itself that that’s not what happened
I actually listened to this story on a different channel. They never mentioned where the dog ended up. So I searched it up on this channel. I agree. The dog is a weird part of this investigation
It's possible she was being spooked by someone making fun of her being the sister of sick brother and niece of deceased uncle.
Notification always on Rachel ❤️✨
So sweet!❤️
To gain something from her They could of pushed her in the water
oml i’m literally having the shittiest day and then i saw u uploaded and i was like :))) lmao ilu💕
I talk to my cat like she’s a toddler. Full conversations and I answer for her! By these standards they use for her, I would be a completely insane person. I promise I am not. 😂
I remember when this happened and I feel like it’s easier to cover up not taking her seriously than it is to say maybe they didn’t do as much as they could have after she made that call. 😢 Very strange case especially with her dog being back in her apartment!! 😮
My favorite channel ❤️
I think it was the roommate. I can't fully explain why but I get hella vibes from the situation
I literally do the exact same thing with my dogs like the whole time they’re outside and I’m talking to them like they’re my children 🤷♀️
On another note, you would make an amazing college professor. I could totally see you doing lectures on psychology or criminology.
I'm less than a minute into the video but... RACHEL!! You look so beautiful!
Ahhhh YAY!!! I LOVE being this early! Great job in this case & I love your content!!!
I live in an apartment and I know that sometimes my neighbors will do something in their unit and it sounds like it’s in mine. I was there is she could’ve heard her neighbors.
Great video today always great detail!
For me this is a tough one to come to a conclusion with I truly don't have an answer at this point in time
The Room mate, after hearing the chances of most theories happening, I think would be the most possible, if something from one of those other theories hadn’t happened.
She’s definitely talking to the dog, I don’t understand how that would seem like anything else.
Sad, sad. 😞
So very frustrating. The most frustrating part of this case for me
Around the 11:40 mark I could hear somebody giggling and talking in the background. Sounded like they were in a different room.
@@EveryOhterLetter I’m referring to the video of when she was outside in the parking lot.
The laugh, I heard while she was on the 911 📞 is very disturbing.. Perhaps someone was messing with her at a vulnerable time in her life situation. 🕊
Yep that's definitely what I got.
I think she herself was laughing
