Rachel, I live in Hamilton, Ontario and I am originally from Edmonton, Alberta (4 hours North of Calgary) This case hits home with me. Hamilton can be a very dangerous place comparing this to Edmonton. You left out a VERY crucial part. She was believed to have been seen at The Budget Inn which is well known for Drug Addicts, Prostitution and Hamilton Finest Criminals. The Police were called and as far as I know the Police would not go in because they didn't have a search warrant. I think the Hamilton Police has done a terrible job and an injustice to Holly and her parents.
My boyfriend and I were one of the very first people to have been approached with her missing persons flyer. We both asked for a few to distribute at our apartment buildings.
I believe she was a victim of foul play. I think there were two men chasing her. I think they caught her, kept her at the Budget Inn. I think they got spooked because of the publicity and did something to her. It wasn't long after the Budget Inn incident that there was a Human Trafficking Bust in Toronto.
I was approached just in August by a tall bald man at Tim Horton's in the afternoon. This man approached me and demanded my phone. I declined. He said he was going to behead me and take me out to the woods etc. I am still scared now. In fact, I am shaking while trying to write this. There was more to all what happened including him getting in my friends face and threatening him. I was not even a threat to him. I was sitting on my Walker for ffs. He approached me. It's not far fetched to think she was followed at all.
Right now, there is a man pretending to be an "Uber Driver" giving free rides and then assaulting them sexually. The Police do not make this a huge deal because the stabbings and shootings take more priority I guess! Like I said, Hamilton is dangerous!

There was another thing too. She was expecting guests that night for some type of get together that she bought the food for. She was definitely expected back.

This case with Holly suddenly saying out of the blue someone was after her, acting strangely on the phone and then leaving on her own - is a bit more along the line that she left and then either met with foul play or died by her own hand/accidental drowning. Good Morning Everyone,
We have received the final documents from the Coroner's office and the detailed reports from the pathology team. Please, share our thanks far and wide. Without you, we would never have been able to accomplish all that we did. As always, my DM's are open if you have further information or if you were/are part of the team and need to talk.
Below, you will find Dave's final statement regarding the death of his daughter, Holly Clark.
"Holly is gone. That is what matters most and is hardest for her family and her friends. To find her and bring her back to us we put in all the effort we could and a lot of you reading this did too.
      For that, thank you.
Across the country and worldwide, we asked thousands of people that we didn’t know for their interest and their help and for the most part it was graciously given. If that was you, thank you. This was a huge collective effort.
How Holly came to disappear and die remains a mystery.
We requested a second autopsy from the Province of Ontario as some of the details around Holly and the state she was found in, were murky. We were graciously granted this by Dr. Pollanen who is the Chief Pathologist for the province. Thank you to Dr. Pollanen, his staff and the others who do this difficult work.
The autopsies and multiple toxicology tests could not determine how or when Holly died. They also could not find trauma or injury which led to her death. None of the toxicology testing found any illegal drugs, recreational drugs or prescribed medications in her system at the time of her death.
We believe, now, that her death was most likely an accident brought on by part of an effort to heal herself. Holly was not fearless, but was extremely brave and she had recently been known to take part in cold plunges in glacial water. When faced with the question of how she might have ended up in the lake in the winter without any evidence of trauma, we have to consider the possibility that she may have gotten into it herself - she might have taken a plunge to attempt to clear her tumultuous mind. In addition Holly was a beginner practitioner of “Wim Hof breathing” which is used both as a meditative technique and as a way of keeping one’s body warm under extremely cold conditions. Unfortunately any hyperventilation technique - such as Wim Hof breathing - can lead to a loss of consciousness and drowning if it is combined with breath-holding underwater. If Holly had been keeping warm with her breathing, then jumped in the water and held her breath, she could easily have passed out before she knew that she needed to breathe.
Or maybe she was taken by aliens and her death is an elaborate hoax. The point is that we are only speculating - way out on a limb. We don’t know. We may never know.
If you do have information that you think we need, please pass it along through Elle McFearsin. Any and all information that may be helpful, would be greatly appreciated.
This will be the last statement from our family as we begin the process of healing from this immeasurable loss. I thank you in advance for respecting our privacy at this time. For an elongated version of this release with more details, you will find it here: www.hollyclarkdeepbight.ca
Because this was such a collective effort, I cannot presume to offer thanks from the whole team, but thanks from the family to all of you for all your care and support. Thank you to Elle and SL for buffering us from all of the details that are so hard to hear and to bear.
      Forever grateful,
      The Ellsworth-Clark Family 💜

Cases where people have some sort of mental break are so hard. Take Lars Mittank, he suffered some sort of psychotic breakdown and ran from an airport in Bulgaria in 2014, never to be seen again. Now we don't know if he is dead now, either murdered by the people he said were chasing him or succumbed to the elements etc. Or if he's still wondering around somewhere? If he is, has he snapped back to reality? Or is he still trapped in that state? I saw another comment on here about the fact that these people could possibly know people are looking for them, but because they are not particularly sane of mind, they freak out thinking people are AFTER them and not looking for them because they care. It's so scary and unfortunate for these individuals and their families x

I wonder if she smoked weed, that can trigger schizophrenia. She wasn't just paranoid, she kept saying she was being followed so she probably thought these people were coming for her and thats why she took off walking and just got too deep. Someone I know had something similar happen, they were schizophrenic from weed and thought the CIA was following him and he tried dousing himself in gas and lighting himself on fire. Luckily the police got to him and forced him into hospitalization and he's better now.

Rachel, I love listening to your videos, you tell these cases with such empathy and gentleness. I am from Hamilton and was involved in searches for Holly. There is a lot more to this case that you have left out. Hamilton has been known for some sketchy human trafficking and there is a large portion of this that involves a motel in Hamilton where trafficking is suspected but for some reason or another cannot be proved. Hollys parents were in Hamilton for several days with incidents going on at this hotel. The owner refused video surveillance and a lot went down there those few days. Another thing, her landlord refused to show video surveillance inside her home. The really was a lot more sketchiness going on and I truly believe she was being chased by 2 men. I don’t know where my beliefs are after she said she was chased but I do believe foul play was somehow involved… whether that brought her to her demise or she escaped somehow. I should also state that she practiced cold water immersion to relax her body so that may have something to do with it all. Anyway, thanx for covering her case, we had an entire city searching for her.

I just don't know if it was homicide or suicide.
I don't see paranoid schizophrenia, at all, but if she had her own room warning signs could have been missed. My husband has it. I feel like people underestimate how bad a psychotic break can be. I understand it’s easier to try and find other explanations like ‘somebody was maybe really following her’ but trust me when I say, people who experience the acute psychosis are absolutely SURE that it is real. To them it’s real, anyways. And I don’t agree when people say ‘stop blaming everything on mental illness’, rather it should be people with mental health problems should get more help and attention. It’s just like any other illness where you have to deal with it because if you don’t, it can become very dangerous. I’ve spoken to patients who have told me they had this inner voice telling them they need to go and lie down on train tracks and wait for the train but at some point realised what they were doing and chose to get up. However, sometimes you cannot beat that voice/drive/feel, call it however you want. And when that happens, you don’t get up.
It’s really hard to see the signs, especially in loved ones, especially when they’re far away from you. Every person has a moment where they act strangely/are in a bad mood and so on. So it rarely occurs to onlookers that there might be something deeper going on and even if they might feel something’s strange, there aren’t many people whose first thought would be ‘it might be mental health issues’. People usually think someone’s in a bad mood, or something upsetting happened, because it’s more common and human nature never wants to assume the worst in the beginning. However, until people start seeing the signs, it might be too late, and people get this insane paranoia and leave and go missing :/

Also, many patients go thru episodes based on drug use. Psychosis for instance. Was she using? Also, who WAS SHE WITH for those months? For us to have some clue as to the end of her life ... we need to know where she was and who she was with.

During extreme episodes people are known to seek out bodies of water as well. Its hard to explain and relate to if you have never experienced it before but its like they call to you. When you are drowning in your life of depression and extreme anxiety and you are standing next to a deep body of water you know that just under the surface its quiet and peaceful, and none of your issues can follow you and you'll be safe from them forever if you just take that one last step.

Agree. But as we know Lars Mittank was about to get to the plane to go home, but he suddenly ran away to never been seen again, so you never know. Mittank is known to have meental issues and had been drinking for days,, so it was a bit different case tho. Holly didn't have known mental issues or known to have abused alcohol or drugs.

She filled the garbage bag with something heavy and that’s what she used to kill herself. Classic case of primary schizophrenic break. So sad and equally as sad how much the coverage of this case seems to be trying to hide that, just speaks to how stigmatized mental illness still is 💔

Such a sad case of yet another beautiful young woman meeting an untimely&unexplained death 😢💔😢 Just an opinion...I think something DID happen to her that original night with the 2 guys chasing her, hence the reason she called her parents saying she wanted to come home. Perhaps after talking to her Dad, she relaxed a bit, let her guard down, &went for a walk to "clear her head", &those 2 guys got her (?). I'm no expert by any means, but it was my thought throughout the remainder of your Video after you said that in the first few minutes... (And not to be morbid, but if she was murdered&had been weighed down at the ankles in the water she was ultimately found in, due to decomposition, her legs could've detached as her body filled with gases, &ultimately rose to the surface.) Regardless, my heart breaks for the loss of this beautiful girl, &I hope her Family gets the answers they so desperately need. 💕❤💕

I am not an expert in the field, but if she had a bad hallucinogenic drug trip it may have thrown off her brain chemistry🤷‍♀️. It’s also possible someone really did follow her “ just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean people are not following you “

This only my theory nothing but respect here. You reported everytime she moved in with roommates for band purposes it seems evey situation she got in fell through. MAYBE this was the start of schizophrenia..It was stated schizophrenia outbreaks starts small then gets worse. Its not often that a young pretty college student would move and change directions that many times. Yes roommates situations don't work out. But for her to have this happen that many times is a red flag to me. Once she decided to focus on herself and her music, being lonely really digging deep maybe hit spot and it triggered her big outbreak, suddenly 2 men started chasing her, breaking her window to get in? Definitely think she had schizophrenic break and seeing the missing person picture looking and just walking past it, her mind didn't register..anxiety and depression really wouldn't have you so mentally messed up that you can't realize people are looking for you totally different. If she met with foul play the autopsy MAYBE would have seen some type of trauma. Her dad positively identified her 100% walking with garbage bags. He has known her since birth raised her and watched her grow. I believe the women in the cctv was her. She was focusing on the 2 men following her and had her mind completely consumed. IF she was having a schizophrenia break she may have completely blocked out her dad coming and waa just walking around mindlessly and hiding until she ended up in the lake probably hiding and an accident happened. Rip Hollly beautiful girl.

As someone who lives in Hamilton and also participated in the searches for Holly, I can’t thank you enough for covering this case. ❤️
This case still completely baffles our entire city, and we all just want some real answers.

So, normally people with schizophrenia slowly decline, but not always. My daughters will go from well to in the ER in 4 days. It is not always a gradual decline. Also, all mental illnesses can be severe enough to cause psychosis. Also, clinical depression/Bipolar disorder do not need anything happening to cause these disorders. She could have just gotten sick.

Hey Rachel, you are the most respectful and genuine advocate for these poor devils. There is no fronting with you and you really do care about the forgotten and victims/survivors of these cases. You must have a very compassionate and empathetic heart. You stand up to societies bullies and lead by example. You, Rachel, will go on to help and comfort many. Our world will be better having you doctor our hurt and broken. I bet your family is very proud of you.
