Very sad that Jim passed away last year, I recall seeing him run his 63 Plymouth back in the mid 70's at the old Mission track.... Gone too soon, all my condolences and best wishes to his family...
Damn. Nothing sounds like a hemi. I remember in the 70's sitting in the stands. A hemi barracuda would run and they were the only cars you could also feel in your whole body when they ran.
Godamn! That is one sweet sounding/working car. One of my fathers friends had one of those. I still remember him leaving the better part of a set of tires in front of our house one night when he left. I think I was about 7 or 8 at that time.
Shit remember buying a red 67 Plymouth satellite in the 80s for a 440 to put in my road runner at the time them days are all most gone but this is a nice car good video
That's an original RO23 race car that's been a SuperStock car since new. Jim used to live in Port Alberni where the car was from. ( owned at first by Lyle Kidd i think) Historic car and really quick.
+Barry Peloquin A 1967 GTX was RS23 for hardtop or RS27 for convertible. The second digit denotes the price class of the car, in this case S stood for special. The price class O was reserved for the factory super stock cars, which in 1967 were converted low option Belvedere and (for Dodge) Coronet models. In 1968 the O price class was again used, but this time for the BO29 Barracuda fastback and LO23 Dart hardtop models.
Race Hemis will wind a hair past 9000 and never miss a lick. Any Hemi loves lots of RPM. My 70 cuda 440+6 started getting stronger above 6800 so I let it take all it wanted.
Raced a 383 RR in the early 1970's stock, 8 inch slicks, headers, crane cheater cam, 456 rear, ran 12.6 to 12.8 in 1/4 mile. Was tacking about 5,800 RPM at end of quarter. still got most of the trophy's 46yrs. later!
Rest in peace yes, he loved and lived what anyone would. It was a success time and legacy for him. I‘m a Pontiac guy yet NOBODY can argue what he had and did with it, NOBODY!
Beautiful satellite forgot I put a comment up a year ago yep I bought one in the late 70s for the motor it had a Maltese cross 440 in it it went good it had a little work done to it but not like this beautiful super stock hemi
a couple reasons really, one is my health and then there's the problem with others at the track fom other photog's getting in the way to racer crew getting in the way, the management getting on my case if I'm down track but others don't get hassled like I do, so...since I don't get paid or it seems they don't appretiate what I do, I have backed off, I still like to do video's but do know there live coverage has been done very well, I will still put my camera in cars when I have the time but it does take alot to put one together, thanks for the input and glad you like what I've done
the video is really great but nothing beats sitting in the staging lane, revving the engine and then waiting for that green lite, it never gets old. bless all you Saturday nite racetrack drivers, may you never red lite.
@@RFedyk Thanks for getting back to me. I love the videos you took of this. Jim really did a great job behind the wheel. I find myself coming back often to watch the videos you made. Thanks Robert.
They push in the clutch or in an automatic put it into neutral and use the brakes, this saves the engine wear as apparently it's hard on the connecting rods...easier to replace brakes than rods
I remember going threw the staging lanes in Ray Christian's hemi cuda I was 10 at national trail raceway remember what Judy Lilly,s car said on the back? On the 8th day God created rhe Hemi
+BeardedBaby Teenagejesus Under deceleration, you're stretching the connecting rods and putting reversed forces on the drivetrain. It's better to just put the transmission in Neutral and apply the brakes.
thanks for the comments, that all makes sense, i should have been more gentle on my old 69superbee at the end of the quarter, well up in the rpm accross the line, 440/727 4.11's and 12.2 @110mph
pdq340 , so you mean I shouldn’t be downshifting in my crappy 5speed M/T Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix? I thought downshifting was good for cylinder wall/piston ring wear.....hmmm for five years I tried to blow up a 95 Camry 2.2 liter, hitting the rev limiter and downshifting every chance I could (for red lights or heavy traffic-- maybe that motor would have run better than it did, at 434,000 miles , if I hadn’t run it so hard? Trans never apart either-to bad Toyota didn’t design the ‘HEMI’, what could have been....
".....behold, for I have stood upon the mountain high, and I heard the voices of angels singing in heaven, and it was good.."....angels singing, or a 426 cranking at 7000+rpm, same thing.

I love watching a guy let it scream and not afraid of it !! let that HEMI BREEEEEATHE !! OHHH YEAH !!!
Wow, HEMI power! Pullin hard even on the big end.......awesome!

9 second quarter mile? Gettin it on! Love the hemi's!
That top end howl. Priceless.
I couldn't of said it better lol
I love the sound of Hemi's at the top end!
Sounds like a vintage Pro Stock car
Reminds me of the old Sox and Martin/ Finks Used Cars SS/E car. Nice video.
Shit remember buying a red 67 Plymouth satellite in the 80s for a 440 to put in my road runner at the time them days are all most gone but this is a nice car good video
Holy shit what a ride! and I have to say I dig the shifting style of this guy
automatic
Nu
You dig is bullshit, that's a automatic, digg itt???

The RO23 models were only for the 1967 gtx not the Satellites......

R
Doesnt get much better then this!
Great car,real nice. I have a 67 GTX for the past 29 years,love it.
think i just blew my speakers with the ride along
Nothing like the sound of a Torquflite shifting behind a Max Wedge or Hemi. Love that sound!
The guys give the hand signal for the burn out was excellent. Never seen a better clear and obvious hand signal for stop. Check it. Kudos man
Good times, they have a beginning and an end, and I always loved this video of Jim.
That's baaaaad I like love the sound of that motor
That was fun. Beautiful city where that may be, awesome driving, bitchen video, insane Satellite.
That's right I have baddest era of cars and their beauty and power will never be forgotten, my history! 60s 70s
damn sounded like 9000 rpm at the finish!
It was probably pretty damn close to 9000! Big cam Hemi's love high compression and high RPM's!
My 70 roadrunner 440 hit around 8200 rpm @ finish
Heads really breath after 6000 rpms. Lift and duration.
Race Hemis will wind a hair past 9000 and never miss a lick.
Any Hemi loves lots of RPM.
My 70 cuda 440+6 started getting stronger above 6800 so I let it take all it wanted.
Man that's what perfection sounds like...
I miss those days. Ran my 69 Roadrunner back in 1973.
When it says "let's go for a ride" after that it's all eargasim time. God that sounds so good.
Hes got that thing dialed in. That was great to watch.
sick, sick, sick, on so many levels. Thanks for posting

Nice video JIm .... you're even faster now
Beautiful satellite forgot I put a comment up a year ago yep I bought one in the late 70s for the motor it had a Maltese cross 440 in it it went good it had a little work done to it but not like this beautiful super stock hemi

Geez!!! What a GROWL when he lets off that Hemi at the finish line..... I bet he was at about 7 grand when he shut it down!!!
beautiful ride!
Crossed the line accelerating. WoW!
And what a ride it was, love it.
Wow I would definitely have to take a change of clothes if I got in that beast..good video thanks.
Robert, why did you stop filming? You are one of the best

god i love this car! thanks jim for sharing.
The big motor screams!
That's Beautiful Love the sound
Robert Fedyk! What did Jim's Family do with his 426 Hemi Satallite!
Took the Hemi out and put a 440 in so the son in law races it in Hot Rod class mid 10s I think
@@RFedyk Thanks for getting back to me. I love the videos you took of this. Jim really did a great job behind the wheel. I find myself coming back often to watch the videos you made. Thanks Robert.
I say, " Mopar or no car "
1963dodgeboy amen brother
Yes Sir how fast is your car ? Et .mph ???
PURE POWER is all I can say and high rpms.
I could ride in this car all day.
Crazy sounding for a big block
That is what compression sounds like 👍
Here's a question I've always had, why do people seem to always press in the clutch and brake after a race and not let the engine do the work?
They push in the clutch or in an automatic put it into neutral and use the brakes, this saves the engine wear as apparently it's hard on the connecting rods...easier to replace brakes than rods
@@RFedyk huh, thank you. never thought of that.
most excellent!
What was his time?
What track is that? I dont recognize it as one of the 70 I rented for the DRAGBIKE! National Championship Series...???
Mission Raceway
Is there a way to purchase a picture/poster of the still shot of the car doing the wheelie?
I do sell pics from my Facebook page, price depends on size from 8x10 to 16x20, I have many pics of his car
@@RFedyk Oh ok thank you I'll start searching right away !!

Got to love it nothing like the smell of burning rubber lol
...only man made sound God's jealous of......
Very healthy!
So why does he coast at the end?
Run out of RPM or has he already qualified?
Quick Mopar

That's a bad ass Mopar
Wow, That is a powerfull Mopar.
Loved it!!
I love hearing a street Hemi at high rpm.
He sure wound it tight but a big car ripping off a 9.25 proves a hemi loves rpms.
freakin amazing
A thumbs up for you.
Hey! Plymouth makes it ❤

WOW!
NOTHING EVER LIKE A HEMI..
That's a Baad Josie. . .
Belvedere II, not a satellite.
Belvedere II side moulding and tail panel with a Satellite grill.
Missing the Belvedere badge on the front fender.
Is this an original RO23?
MOPARS TO THE FRONT!!!
Why is this called super stock? This looks modified to me.
