In this video, we’re going to talk about chronic inflammation and anemia.
One of the first lines of defense against pathogens is to withhold nutrients from microbes. Iron and a few other nutrients are vital to the growth of bacteria. In fact, both good and bad bacteria need iron to exist in the body.
Sequestration is a situation where your body is locking up iron and other minerals from pathogens. This prevents pathogens from obtaining food.
Pathogens have counter-strategies that allow them to break open cells to acquire the iron they need.
Those who have too much iron are very susceptible to infections. This is why-bacteria and other microbes have a lot of nutrients to help them grow and reproduce.
Other pathogens-like Lyme disease-are able to survive off of manganese instead of iron.
When you have a chronic inflammation situation, you can become very deficient in iron, which can make you feel anemic and weak. Taking more iron can actually feed the pathogens at the same time.
Instead of taking more iron, address the underlying inflammation situation.
The best way to remedy this issue is to do intermittent fasting and take vitamin D.

This video is really talking to me! I’ve been battling chronic anaemia for the past 10 years or so and it seems I can’t get rid of it. I get treated by taking disgusting iron tablets for a few weeks which make me feel nauseous and constipated. Than I feel better for a few months, have a surge in energy but it always seems to creep back in. The doctor never tried to understand why it was always coming back. He treated the problem not the roots. Now I realise when looking at my blood test results, I always have a high Vitamin D deficiency as well !! I’m going to significantly increase my Vitamin D intake . Thx Doc ❤️

I just found out yesterday that I have CIRS Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome thanks to some genetic testing. I also have a bad iron deficiency (showed up on ferritin test). My whole life makes so much more sense now. I would love for Dr. Berg to make some videos on this. I don'tfully understand it all perhaps in part from the cognitive impairment it causes but also because it is complicated it seems. I and others could benefit from your help! So much to discuss like Genetic disposition, testing, triggers, biotoxin exposure. It took me years of suffering and misdiagnosis to finally get to the root. So many people probably have this genetic problem and may never really get to the root cause😢 I'm so blessed to have finally found the root cause. It's not the best news but now that I know I can heal and manage my health appropriately. Watching Dr. Berg videos have helped me over the years to manage and decrease my symptoms. I am so grateful for his help!

Most viruses feed on "unutilized iron". Iron overload happens when the cofactors for absorption, utilization and metabolism of iron are imbalanced or deficient.
I corrected my inflammatory iron overload by supplementation of following :
    1. Vit C
    2. Bioavbl Copper
    3. Rutin
    4. Bioavbl B6, Folate, B12
    5. Vit A (retinol)
I never have any iron supplements.

Ferritin is the protein where iron is stored. It is normally present in serum concentrations directly related to iron storage. Ferritin can be elevated even when both serum iron and transferrin saturation percentages are at low-normal levels or below. High ferritin under these circumstances might not signal iron overload, but can result from a defense mechanism, sometimes called acute phase reaction. The body will synthesize ferritin in response to an evasion of many pathogens. The resulting conditions are sometimes referred to as the anemia of chronic disease, or more commonly today, inflammatory anemia. These are often temporary conditions that cause the body to sequester iron that would otherwise be available to assist invading pathogens and worsen infection, tissue damage or other disease conditions.

I was diagnosed w iron anemia last yr. ferritin was 9!! No wonder my hair was falling out . Holistic physician prescribed carbonyl iron and acupuncture. I felt amazing . Then C virus hit Jan 2021 and sept 2021. All hell broke loose. Sending my body into shock of lethargy fatigue , gut issues and low BP. My iron was 155 ferritin 36
Iron dropped 50 ferritin 30 21 17. Can’t get it up. GI Utsw performed all kinds of tests for celiac gut hypylori colonoscopy/endoscopy. Negative!!!!I do have low acid and leaky gut. I follow Dr Berg. Fasting…lemon water w ACV daily . A good probiotic . Slowly, my ferritin has increased to 21z still have a long way to get to optimum health, but guys fasting is key - survival!!!!!!

Did you supplement with Iron? Or like Dr. Berg said?

  • @marlenegold280
    @marlenegold280 3 роки тому +2

Need all four iron panel tests, not just ferritin.
One doesn’t treat based on ferritin alone.
    •Serum iron
    •Serum ferritin
    •Transferrin saturation %
    •TIBC
    (Total Iron Binding Capacity)
‘In range’ isn’t good enough; there is an optimal number in each reference range.
Make sure you get all four tests at the same time, and get a copy of the test results including reference range.
It is your legal right to ask for a copy and get a copy for yourself.

Interesting Dr. Berg. Keto and IF would have healed my mom. She suffered from CFS, arthritis, overweight and kidney problems for many years. She tried various diets and pills but nothing ever worked and the docs never helped her. Poor lady started getting osteoporosis, and eventually two of her lower vertebrate disks popped like baloons. That was the start of the end of the road indeed as then came anemia after an experimental surgery to fix her disks. She passed on in 2007.

Hi Dr Berg. Can gastritis result in inflammation of the tissues/lining of the brain resulting in sleep disability. I’m suffering from that for the last six years. It gets worse if I don’t eat. Feel so much better when I eat curried red meats like mutton or steak. Just started vitamin D.
I also have interstitial cystitis aND restless leg syndrome and hydradenitis supernativa. So lots of inflammation.

Dr Berg . Thanks for your video Why chronic inflammation causes anemia. I have just been diagnosed with Lupus. I have been on intermittent fasting , 18:6 for about two weeks, then one week 20:3, now 24 with one meal for two days . My goal is to do 72 hour fast every two weeks, with 20:4 fast in between until my Lupus markers are gone!
Previously, before any treatment, my lupus inflammation markers were 99.9 . The rest of my organs tested good. Later, after staring medication ( Hydroxychloroquine 200mg) , my inflammation markers went down to 60, with my blood count low at 9. So I am now anemic! I am taking your D3 & K2 and cod liver oil 40,000 per day. Your Adrenal Stress… plus. Few other supplements.
My question: regarding when and how to start taking organic iron without breaking my fast? Since I don’t know if my Lupus is an pathogen, environmental or inherited. Does it matter with regular intermediate fasting and good nitrous diet?
I will know the results of what I decide to do by my next blood work in Oct.
