Hi guys...love that I found you on UA-cam...please do blue October 'fear' next. Thanks ☺️
Great reaction! I subscribed because of this one. If you want to almost cry again, please react to The Worry List by Blue October. ua-cam.com/video/tNoq9HHBmM0/v-deo.html
It is about his co-parenting challenges with his ex while trying to get to spend time with his daughter. Just devastating. 💔
now you gotta do "the end" from them :) the have alot of really great stuff :)
Dude looks like he's trying to take a sh*t in the beginning, the host of the video that is
It’s an answering machine that he puts in the grave. The voices in his head - the voices recorded on the answering machine (mainly his moms voice). It’s his way of moving on. In a way, he no longer is haunted by the bad times. Throwing past memories away and trying to move on in a positive manner
Blue october is an amazing band that's so underrated and not as well known but I promise, if you go down this rabbit hole of listening to more of them, you'll be hooked on them
Best live band I've ever seen.
@@chomas8784 one of the few that sounds amazing live !! love them I wish more people would react to "the end"
Too true! I literally saw Hate Me as a recommended and I remembered that song being huge but never checking the band. I started listening to them and slowly I’ve fallen in love and can’t stop.
@@viper04af Just watched them live. Awesome.
@@sarahanna5222 god damn.. I’m so jealous in a healthy way. I’m from Portugal. They are not known here. Only time they come to Europe usually it’s UK and always on inconvenient dates for me. With this being said, I have a tremendous respect for this guy and for he’s soul. If there’s such thing as God, this guy was truly blessed by him and sended here to help people trough he’s music. It’s unbelievable on how many shit music the industry puts out and let a band like this in the shadow. Unbelievable.
Every single time I see a new reaction to this song I always tell myself going in "ok don't cry this time, you've heard this so many times"....
It gets harder..The blue family feel it.
The cooks at my work play a lot of alternative. This song comes in the loop often. I'm like "come on guys! Don't make me cry at work!!" Lol
I was bawling watching this. I bawl every time I hear it 😭
I FEEL every line of this song. It breaks me every single time. I'm crying while typing this 😂😢😢😢😢
Ya for sure
We saw an acoustic concert of them, here in Texas. It touched so many people, there were more tears than I have ever seen at a concert. But they were good tears in the end. He taught us huge lessons.
I've never known another song that reveals the pains of addiction and how it tears lives and families apart like this one.
Great comment
@@Legendary_CEO Thank you.
He said in an interview that he wrote this while locked away doing drugs and drinking and all these people kept reaching out to him to see if he was ok (mainly his ex who he left and his mother). The message on the answering machine was left by his mother and was kinda the spark that created the mood for the song.
This whole album got me through some pretty dark places. Hate Me was easily their most famous song but Into the Ocean was probably my favorite song of theirs.
The song is actually about an ex girlfriend that was there during his addiction days. He left her because he didnt feel like he deserved her. The music video plays out like its his mom. The actress playing his mom is actually his real mom.
His brothers in the band but I can't remember which one he is
@@courtneymoore3177 Jeremy. He is the drummer. 😊
@@alexbrito9279 thanks!
The girl he was dating was named Amy. The video is just a visual interpretation of the song, not a representation there of. Justins mothers VM message was more of the catalyst for writing the song but the words are most definitely for his ex.
I heard this song again during a time when I had someone very close to me going through a bad addiction and it totally hit me different .....that's when their music really started to mean a lot to me.
After all these years this song still hits me like a sack of bricks. It doesn't help I share the same first name as him, so I end up connecting it more to me when the recording says my name
This song truly gets me every single time. I'm an addict (clean for 11 years). I hated myself for a very VERY long time. For what I put my family through. My close friends. What I put everyone through. Good thing is, I'm working on myself. It's been a process for sure. I'm taking it day by day.
I feel this song in my soul. It's so moving.
Thank you for reacting to this beautiful song ❤️
congratulations on being clean for 11 years, what an achievement!
I became an opiate addict not intentinally via my doctor due to a skull fracture. It was for well over 20 years. My 2nd ex wife started stealing my meds and do so much more that she went to jail and i left her. Shortly after i vowed to never take meds again because i saw what it was doing to me and how it effected my now about to be 3rd wife who i have known since 1992. I have been clean since 2011. Thats when she moved into my life and just before 2012 is when i stopped. i went off all of the pain meds. Yes i deal with insane pain due to that... but its nothing compared to the pain meds cause. No matter how good that warm blanket feels when its wraps around you... its not worth the ones that can love you. Ive been clean since then. I will always be clean for her and my kids and hers plus my now grand kids. They deserve that. No matter my pain... i will be there for them before me. I love them that much. I hope this wakes at least one person up from the cloud of pain meds or whatever they are dealing with. If i can do it for this long... they can too. Trust me... every day is a battle. Every day haunts me. They are worth me being there for them.
btw. I just recently sent my mom this original video and yes... it broke her but she stood up and and thanked me and told me how proud she was that i no longer have to fight those demons while taking something. Im sober and doing it for them proudly and they support me all the way.
This is an amazing band. You should check out their songs "fear" (the acoustic live version is amazing, but so if official video) and "Worry list" (the live acoustic version).
I think people starting out with Blue should go for the official video of “Fear” shot at the ocean. I think the power of that one, with the full music behind Justin, is more impactful than the acoustic.
Though I love me some live Blue Shows!
The mom died and all he had was her final message on the answering machine. He regrets all the shit he put her through. That's my take on it.
Shes alive and well. He killed the part of himself that he hated. The side that brought everyone into his darkness.
Well, your wrong
@@cheitner no, it literally says her name on the grave...and the producer of the video even says they made his mother die to make it more impactful
@@stevonic719 Then why is her name on the grave stone thing? lol. She is alive in real life, yes. But in the video she dies to make the music video fit, work better and be more emotional.
@@curtharakaly4620 if ur only referring to the video, yes obviously the mom dies in the video.
I'm referring to the meaning and message in the song.
He wrote Hate Me for a GF who struggled by his side as he battled addiction and mental illness. His addiction continued well past the time this song was written but he's now clean and lives a positive, spiritual life. He's since dedicated this to everyone who was affected by his addiction and self loathing. Please do Fear and Worry List.
Blue October's life in Texas concert is way better than any of their Studios versions
Epic. ua-cam.com/video/Y3F3AcnGFWw/v-deo.html
To me it is the ultimate performance of this song. Seen live this band is special but that Houston gig is off the wall! Maybe because its a gig playing to the homies, but damn!!
I agree!! Y'all should def react to that version!! Along with Light You Up (Live from Texas)
@@cuteclilali7 light you up is my favorite Blue October song by far.
Absolutely!!! Texas live is amazing CD
Of all the songs that could have helped the band break through, it was "Hate Me," his open letter to an ex-lover who bore the brunt of his battle with addiction. Furstenfeld said the song's success felt like vindication. "I'm really proud of the fact that that song was the one," Furstenfeld said.
Finally Blue October!!!!! please listen to Fear -Live. Angela will love it!
Please go down this rabbit hole. Blue October is so underrated. Fear is the song that literally saved my life. Please give it a listen!
Listen to Fear by them. Another heart string puller.
Got to see them in concert a few years ago. They are amazing!
Everyone interprets it differently. That’s the beauty of music. He has talked about about struggling with depression and addiction when he was younger and he’s always trying to help his fans that are suffering from depression, mental illness and addiction. He’s not just an amazing musician but a amazing man too!
Thè lead singer Justin Furstenfeld and the drummer Jeremy are brothers. Their mom plays his mom in the video and shes still alive and well. The message on answering machine was a real message from his mom to him at a time in his life that he was deep in drugs and he has struggled with depession and bi-polar since he was young. I think the message reminded him that as secret as he thought he was being moms just know. Also this song was written to an ex Mamie that he broke up with cause he was in the mindset he didn't need no girl cause he was going to be touring. The song CALLUNG YOU was written for same girl before this song and this song was kind of an apology after he realized what he lost. Justins not afraid to be vulnerable and has always been in love with being in love. He's now 9.5 yrs sober and has a beautiful wife and 3 amazing kiddos. I finally get to see them live in a month. So excited. New sub here.
The Answer and Schizophrenia are 2 of the most soul crushing, depressing songs you will ever hear. love em.
mad props for #BlueOctober song! Appreciate your reaction! But yeah I believe it was the mother who died...
He put the answering machine at the grave because the message she left him just reminds him of all the people in his life (mostly his ex and his mother) who stood right by his side in the heat of his addiction and struggle with mental illness. No matter how dark things got they were there for him. He cannot deal with the guilt of knowing that he was responsible for bringing pain in their lives and how they sacrificed their own happiness and needs to ensure he was okay! His emotions are raw and it never ceases to bring a tear to my eye.
You should see them do this song live.. the amount of feeling in it is crazy.
Best band of all time. Justin is a savior for most of us
The part where he was at the grave, his mother had passed and that he regrets how he treated his mother. He wishes he could take back what he’d done. “And then she whispered ‘how can you do this to me’” is when she passed.
I'm sure most people know it, but the message you here on the answering machine is an actual message his mom left him. This song now makes me think of my dad that passed away about 3 years ago. I kept a few of his things to at least have some small part of him in a way, so I can understand him keeping that message, I would do the same. This song just hits me in my core or soul, whatever you want to call it, and I cry every time.
BTW I love the channel, you guys give both intelligent and entertaining reactions and analysis. You also have open minds on different genres which is always good. When people ask me what type of music I like, I say good music. I don't care what the genre is as long as it makes me feel something.
This band is so great. Look up more of their songs. You won't regret it. They have helped bring me back from such a dark place.
*Justin has an amazing voice! Please check out their song "Fear".*
I haven’t even started the video and I’m guessing this one will really pull at y’alls heartstrings!
Love seeing first time reaction, grooving to the beat and then the emotion rips your heart out and you are on Justin's ride!!
the one in the grave was his mother. When I first heard this song I almost cried
This song hits me so close to home
I bought this CD the minute I heard it on the radio. The video makes it hit even harder and the slow walk to put his answering machine on his mother's grave gets me every time. He regrets that he didn't stop using while his mom was alive. Home is another good Blue October tune.
The message on the answering machine is real. It's his real mother whom he wrote the song about. It's about his regrets with drugs and what it put his mother through and his own guilt of what he put her through then losing her
Glad you found this group they are doing a tour right now. Can't wait to see your reaction to rob or even shinedown monster may be one you need
The greatest addiction
And substance misuse song ever written
This is a tough one....
Kills me every time. Good one.
wow!
The end shows each choice he is torn between...giving up, or going to his mother.
Check out
Bleed out/ both original and acoustic live version
Not broken anymore
Sway
Should be loved...classic blue october and justins voice is ..wow!
The song is about his deceased mother.
At the beginning it is a real voicemail his mom left him. In the video, when the lady is laying over him and holding him, that is is mom(they flew her out to be in the video)
God bless Mothers, they only see the good in us and our unlimited potential. Sad we can not always see it in ourselves.
Listen to that all the time.Awesome.
I think he left the voice recorder at the grave yard because it was the last thing he had with his moms voice on it. And I think she passed away before he got his shit together… I think he regrets his mom hanging on at the end of her life, suffering, hoping that he’ll get better before she passes, and I don’t think he did. I think he wanted her to hate him so she could stop worrying about him. I may be wrong but that’s what I’m thinking. I can’t remember the whole story
Your dead right and that's his mom's actual voice and it's a true story.
@@kenadkins1360 sad man
His Mom is still alive and well. Both Parents were able to see get clean. Unfortunately his Dad, probably his biggest supporter, just passed away from cancer.
"your life would be better if you hated me" is what its about
Into the Ocean is Awesome also by Blue October.
Check out “Home” & “Fear”
Dude. I THINK U NAILED THE MEANING! Good job. Makes sense.
Plz do bleed out by blue October
I think you'll enjoy "For my brother" live. It's on the argue with a tree concert videos
Worry List from Blue October is even better.
In the video, his mom had died. That was her grave.
This song still makes me cry. I was already a junkie at 13 with suicidal depression and anxiety and my mom died when I was 14. She never got to see me doing well or to meet her grandson. Wish I could've been there for her when she passed but drugs and depression ruled me
Blue October is an amazing band. They don't get half the attention they deserve.
Y'all should listen to Dirt Room and Bleed Out too. Their music is definitely an addictive rabbit hole. 💯
Blue October has great songs about some heavy subjects.. "The End" and "The worry list" are also great!
In an interview he said is an apology to his first ex, his mom and everyone he hurt. Listen to foiled beginning to end.
if you liked these guys you should check out "Into the Ocean."
The song was actually written about his EX Maime. His mom was trying to be there for him because he because highly addicted to Alcohol and before he could get sober his mom passed away
His mom is alive and well and actually played herself in this video.
The song is about his mom. She didn't actually die in real life but his addictions were real and the feelings were real
1st verse is about his ex
2nd verse is about his friends
3rd verse is about his mother that died.
His mom died (in the video) and now it's too late to make amends. It was a story about his drug use and telling his mom just to hate him , so it will be easier for her. Stop caring because all he does is cause pain with his drug use.
Go watch the live 10th anniversary performance of this song
There are certain songs that drag you back into certain parts of your life that you can never forget, a d this is one for me. One of the most painful parts of my life. It’s been damn near 20 years and this song brings all the emotions and pain from back then. I love it but hate it at the same time
The verses and chorus lines are all cut short because this is the radio version, so you're not hearing the full version of the song. You should hear the studio version, then you'll be able to really get a grasp for the entirety of it. It's better as well. The music video cuts too much out.
He buried the addict side of himself, finding his worth.
Theory; is he singing to his old self, about his old self, from his new self? 🤷♂️
He left the answering machine at his mom's grave. She died. In real life she's alive
Dope reaction, please react to Filipino artist making waves right now. EZ MIL- Panalo translated version. Not only does he rap he sings rnb ballads rock. Also he dances and plays multiple instruments and speaks multiple languages .He also edits and produces his own beats and videos. Enjoy EZ is pronounced like easy btw .
The intro got static x Z28 girl dancing vibes
This guy has a lot of great songs.
Pick any song off Foiled . It’s a great album. Fear is a fight song from a later album
I saw them open for default in Atlanta. Pretty good live band
The mother dies as in the video he is walking through her empty home one last time.
So the message at the beginning of the song was a real message left by his mother that helped him see what he was doing to people that care about him. The song is actually talking to all of the people that were there for him through his troubles including his ex girlfriend.
I think that him leaving the answer machine at the cemetery is him leaving the past behind...........
That grave is his mother's
I'm almost sure it was his mother who died. So no matter what, you got to keep living. For her and yourself . It's the only way .
Amazing band.. singer and song writer.. amazing live... This song is about a girl he was with right before he made it.. He ghosted her after..it's an apology letter
His mom was checking on him
His mother died before he was able to get completely straight, and make things right.
Pretty sure that’s his mom in the video.
@@philb323 you are correct. She is still alive.
3:11 he's talking about crystal meth
Not alcohol. Heroin my guy. There is a great documentary about the band you should check out
Ive raised my mom from the age of 8.... Didnt off myself because of my younger brother..... And then one crack house after the other..... Shit was hard!!!! Im almost 40 now, and ive never heard a sorry..... Id drop that shit there and walk away as well!!!
Days off are addictive like a drug just hoping you are all doing well
Hes not talking aiut his mom. Hes talking sbout everyone who koves him. Hes also not talking about alcoholism. Hes talking about drug addiction.
He put the answerphone at his mother’s grave..
I have to disagree with the whole "it's selfish" thing you said. It's more like you want to make sure your family member is happy without you being a burden. For someone who also has bipolar disorder like the lead singer... we don't want to hurt the people we love because of our mood swings, so we distance ourselves in many ways to not hurt loved ones.
Its about his daughter and how he failed her, then changed
You have the song wrong. And the lyrics "While I was waging wars on myself you were TRYING to start the fight." It's a song about his misery from her but he loved her. That it was easier to accept the disfunction, hate and sadness. His mom died and he has to deal with all that which was left unsaid.
At the End of the song the answering machine plays his mom's last message
This mans Music has evolved to be so much more. Hope from horror check out some
Of him not with the band.
I am thinking it was his mom passed and he has all these regrets
If you like bands that talk about abuse depression suicide. Check out Citizen Solider.
You need to check out "take a picture" from picture
By time he got his act together his mother died
No, he hates himself for not treating her better and causing so much trouble. She died and he regrets the things he did.
High time for Fallen Angels by Black Veil Bride 🌠🌠🌠
Full of guilt....after his mother passes. After all the selfish crap he unnecessarily put her through.
And emotionally took away from her life and piece of mind. Sad.
