I’m a 56 year old man, tears stream every time I hear this song. I’ve been a fan for 25 years. I first heard this song when I was going through my own divorce with 2 kiddos. I’ve seen Blue October 3 times and I’ve seen Justins acoustic show, met him, have his autograph, every performance is spectacular, Blue October is one of the most underrated, under appreciated bands out there, truly one of my top 10 bands ever.
One of my favorite bands for over 14 years now💙 I’ve seen them perform live many times and each time, it was absolutely breathtaking
They’ve been my favorite band for 16 years and I finally get to see them at the end of the month ❤️❤️
I’ll echo what others are saying on here: I’ve seen them Live, 3 times … NO WORDS to describe how great, how powerful they are! It’s not a concert. It’s an experience.
So this song was written a really long time ago when Justin(the lead singer) was in a very bad place. He was dealing with massive depression and anxiety and was addicted to alcohol and drugs. His wife was getting ready to divorce him when he was writing this albumn. In an interview he explains that this song is about his love for his wife and moreover his love for his daughter and that if she wont stay with him for him, atleast stay with him for his daughter so they can have a whole family. This performance is about 6-8 years after the album came out and Just is in a much better place now. He has a great relationship with his daughter and lives a straight edge lifestyle.
I’m alive today in no small part due to this band

I remember reading a comment somewhere that a listener made, stating that Blue October writes/performs music for those of us who are broken. I'm probably butchering the way it was phrased, and I apologize for that, but even for people like me who have a criminally small selection of their albums (which I fully intend to repent of), you know exactly what that person meant.

My favorite band. So much talent. Watch their documentary on Prime called "Get Back Up". Puts it all in perspective.

Blue October is the absolute best! Please listen to more. He went through divorce and lost custody to his daughter. But today he is sober and has full custody. He wrote a song called "Fear" please react to his live acoustic performance. Its the first song he wrote sober and its AMAZING.

You don’t know what you stumbled upon. Blue October is legendary! I’ve seen them 20 times & 4 Open Book shows. He’s the greatest lyricist I’ve ever heard & the shows are a must alone or with your love!
Justin writes from what he lives and the best part it's what most of us have lived or are going through!! He is the best I think as far as personal life stories in his music as well as his future!! Awesome.....
Honestly, I have seen this band a few times and what you hear is what you get, the rawest most powerful voice I have ever heard live. I broke down at one of his concerts, he really gets you in the feels, but also makes you feel alive at the same time. I'm back to go seeing them again this year, after what seems like a very long wait because of the pandemic. All the music he does is about his life or one of the other band members live's
The first time I saw them live I think I spent 90% of the concert crying LOL It's such an emotionally powerful experience seeing them in person. I'm bringing my little fan to a concert in a month for his 7th birthday and I cannot wait to share this experience with him too!

The first time I heard BO was in 1998 at “Cafe on the Square” in San Marcos Tx. That night a saw a band pull everyone in that room into their world and Justin had something I couldn’t quite put my finger on but knew it was something special . Through a couple of shows later it became apparent that the connection he established was almost a superpower that he can build with anyone who has ever seen them live. That superpower has grown and become so consistent that has solidified them as real, they might not be the most popular but the connection the share with their fans is too intimate that the place it comes is very genuine
Honestly this band is awsome and especially live.
I can’t listen to this song without breaking down. I remember my parents custody battle and it sucked. Couldn’t imagine how my parents felt in that moment
Justin brings this energy to every show. If you were moved by this video just wait until you actually go to a concert. I got to see them live and it was epic. Epic is the only word I can use and even that doesn’t bring it justice. So glad that he’s got his lovely wife Sarah and his kids. Amazing band!!!!

Every single song of theirs is a piece of Justin's heart. He is so passionate, so genuine, so talented. I have been in love since I first heard him almost 20 years ago and every new song they make, and his solo work... there has not been one that fell flat. Because of who he is, and who they are together. If you haven't yet, you need to get acquainted with this band. You will feel, no matter how many times you hear the song, he makes you feel it every time. I saw them in concert in December and he pours himself into every word, every note. Every. Time.

My favorite band by far!Justin is just an amazing songwriter and singer.
If you want to see Justin pour himself out. Watch them in Houston, TX (hometown). I watched him sing 2 straight hours with the flu a few years ago. And still hung out with me back stage. This man’s music saved my life over a decade ago. Now I’m a father and husband. Still fight my demons, and am inspired by him and his conviction to choose life.

Justin is the best song writer of our time. Go all the way back with them to 1992. You won't be sorry. Beautiful guys and so gracious in person. Justin hugged, kissed my cheek several times and said, "I love you, I love you, I love you" when I thanked him for bringing me back to life in 2013. And that violin.
