Those first two Maiden albums are by far my favorite. They'd actually be in my top 5 bands if they kept Paul for a few more albums and in the style of the the first two
Best era of Maiden and my two most favorite Iron Maiden albums! R.I.P. Paul Di’Anno. I always play his live sets for Valentine’s Day to move on with my day cuz no one will ever be as cool as him :)
Great episode, Paul Di'Anno has grown on me over the years, this kinda rough and tumble style didn't impress me first in comparison to Bruce but nowdays I prefer his voice, it's not just falsetto all the time that you grow a bit tired of, it's a bit unfortunate his career after Maiden but RIP Paul. A legend.
I got into Maiden when I was a child. I Begged my Mother to buy for me "Powerslave"! Of Course I was Blowen Away!, and still am to this day! Then I was able to talk my Mother into buying me my 2nd Maiden album, which was "KILLERS"! At first I could not understand the difference.. But I LOVED IT BOTH!! Then the 3rd that Mom got for me was "Peice of Mind"! I was Totally hooked by this time, and got a little job, and bought the 1st & Number.. ETC.. But the Paul Era was a Huge influence on my early taste of music in general! R.I.P. Paul! As far as his other stuff goes, I Do not know it, except Battle Zone "I Don't Wanna Kow", I think it was called?, = I did not like it on M-TV HB-Ball and never looked again at Paul, unfortunatlly... However, Though I Do Love the first 2 Maiden albums the Most!, The rest of the catalogue is Pure AWSOME, Mostly.., Especially the Early Bruce Years is AWESOME!!!! There IS NO Bad MAiden, Ever! They NEVER put out Bad stuff, like a few other artists.. It is that Just some albums are better than others!, which happens with time! It will make me sad when this retires.. But when they Do.. Then IT is Well Deserved! They were a Trooper in the music world for Sure! And I hope that they do Not tap in a few young Tallented musicians to fill their place, to keep going on.. When MAiden calls it Quits, Then it should be Quits!!
Purchased self titled Maiden debut along with Anvil Metal on Metal on a hot Texas Summer day 84 .. I rode my BMX bike to the record store and I remember having ride fast hurry home so the Vinyl would not warp in the triple digit heat ..
Paul Di`Anno had something to do in the start of Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden`s first Iron Maiden album & Killers are so great Killers are still my favorite Iron Maiden album to this day.
The first two Iron maiden albums made me a huge fan of Maiden and heavy metal. I had the vinyl records and loved Paul's voice and the music. My first video encounter of Paul was a VHS release in Italy of a 1980 or 1981 Iron Maiden concert at the Rainbow. I rented it, made a copy for myself and watched that awesome show countless times ! The black leather they donned was so cool ! Remember Tomorrow is a true classic !! RIP Paul DiAnno Dio Benedica
Nice tribute fellas. Darren, you hit the nail on the head when you said "When Paul died, a part of my childhood died too". When I read the sad news, it took me right back to 1981, Rasputin's Records in Berkeley, Ca and purchasing my new Iron Maiden Killers album. Paul brought that punk feel into the band. The punk thing left when Paul left. RIP.
He will always be my Voice Of Maiden. The first two Maiden albums will always be the best. Just a shame that Maiden wasnt able to brink Paul back for one last reunion show.
The ONLY singer for Iron Maiden. Just kidding. I like the Bruce stuff too, grew up with it. Bought the Killers cassette when it came out, my first cassette. One of my favorite albums of all times. Still gives me chills today. As somebody who loves both metal and punk, I always loved Di'Anno, his voice, his look. Thanks for the talk/tribute.
Can't say I was shocked, but it was still a gut punch. The debut is probably my favorite Maiden album. He had some good stuff post Maiden as well. God Speed Paul!
The first time I heard Maiden, it was Run To The Hills on my local radio station. That opening guitar line was amazing and I ran right out and bought Number of the Beast. When I did, I noticed that they had a few more albums in the bin that looked just as amazing. Soon after I got those as well. I used to prefer those two Paul albums to Number just slightly. And sometimes I still do. Got to see Paul live a few times. I saw The Killers tour of America in the early 90s. I also saw his 30th Anniversary show where he played the entire debut album. He was a great singer and a hilarious character. He made a big impact on me. Rest in peace.
Lost Maiden after their first 2 albums sorry to say. Dont get me wrong,i have nothing against Dickinson but i missed Dianno who i think was a great frontman, more than just the voice.
MAIDEN , WITH Di ANNO, WAS TO THE NWOBM MOVEMENT AS NIRVANA WAS TO THE GRUNGE MOVEMENT. WHEN I FIRST SAW THE SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT VIDIO , I AUTOMATICALLY THOUGHT OF IRON MAIDEN WITH PAUL Di ANNO . HEAVY , GRUNGY , SLUDGY , ANGRY AND UNAPPOLIGETIC.AND RHASPY ,RAUNCHY ,MONOTONE ANGRY VOCALS.
The only Paul song I think Bruce does well is Phantom of the Opera, I don't quite agree with Darin there, to be fair I like Bruce's voice on that. I prefer Paul's voice on all the rest of his originals...in the main the songs on the first 2 albums just don't suit Bruce's voice.
I will. Are you a metalhead or a punk fan? I don't think punk fans would call even the first two Maiden albums 'punk rock'. It's metal fans who say this when they try to compare the Di anno era with the Dickinson era. What is punk about Remember Tomorrow, Phantom of the Opera, Transylvania or Strange World? This punk idea's more about Di'anno's voice and his short hair look, not the music. If you read Maiden biographies they struggled to get gigs and get signed in 1976-79 because they did not have the punk sound that was popular at the time. They did the Soundhouse Tapes as a last tactic to get noticed and picked up. Steve Harris says he disliked punk because he respected and aimed for a higher level of musicianship that was not part of the punk ethos.
Thanks for paying tribute dudes. Paul was a huge part of Maiden's and heavy metal's success and deserves to be recognized for it.
"The Land That God Have Gave To Cane"!!!One of the most powerfull Metal Anthems Of All Times💪💪💪
Paul Di Anno you God Size Legend!!!
Those first two Maiden albums are by far my favorite. They'd actually be in my top 5 bands if they kept Paul for a few more albums and in the style of the the first two

Paul Di'Anno was Iron Maiden for me when I bought the first two records in 1981, here in Holland. Great singer, sad how life treated him...
Paul Di`Anno had something to do in the start of Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden`s first Iron Maiden album & Killers are so great Killers are still my favorite Iron Maiden album to this day.

RIP Paul, he was the coolest. First two Maiden albums are some of my favorites.

Everybody mentions Paul's short hair but Adrian had really short hair in the beginning too.
What a legend!…what a voice….RIP 🤘🏻🙏🏻

Sad news, RIP Paul!
R.I.P. Paul Dianno.
Real bummer and a sad loss.
i bought killers when it came out - the first metal album i ever owned - R.I.P paul
Best maiden albums is with Paul
Lost Maiden after their first 2 albums sorry to say. Dont get me wrong,i have nothing against Dickinson but i missed Dianno who i think was a great frontman, more than just the voice.
Rest easy Paul my favorite singer of maiden 😢
For anyone who likes the Paul era, check out Blade Killer.
I imagine the third album with Di'ano, I think it would be much better... Unfortunately the guy went crazy too soon, leaving us alone, wanting more)

It’s so true: I never really enjoy Bruce singing any songs from the Dianno records!
Listen to Bruce on Beast Over Hammersmith, doing Paul’s Song, he sounds amazing
Saw it, heard it, have it. Its sufficient.
No.

I definitely thought he had a punk vibe too,R.I.P. Paul
he never listened heavy metal 'n shit before joining iron maiden
Killers is a perfect album, for me Maidens best. For non Maiden material I would recommend Murder One by his Killers band in the early 90s.
The first Iron Maiden was way more punk rock than metal. Fight me
I will not!
