Glad that Paul and the Iron Maiden guys were on great terms before Paul passed away. I was hoping that Paul Dianno was going to be part of the 50th anniversary tour Maiden is doing next year. That would have been amazing. Been listening to the first two Iron Maiden albums, bootleg CD of the full length show of Maiden Japan and other live shows that Paul Dianno has done. Extremely sad day today. Rest In Peace Paul!
I feel in my heart he was ready to go. I could see it in his face, especially when reuniting with Steve and Bruce. I don't know the cause yet but maybe he is in a much better place and out of that wheelchair. We never know. RIP DIANNO
I came in on Number of the Beast and was a Bruce guy for a long time, but over the years those first 2 albums gained on me more and more until they became my favorites. RIP Paul. Running wild, RUNNING FREE. 🤘😞
Paul...bruce...they both rule. I'm sad for paul having gone through all he went through but least he's at peace now. Going to see maiden Saturday. Look forward to them paying tribute to paul
Big R.I.P to Paul DiAnno. Killers and Iron Maiden were classic albums, and paved the way for those coming afterwards. Saw him just before the pandemic on his feet in Rhodes, playing his older Maiden tunes, and he was on the Jack Daniels throughout the show, like it was 7 up.
Love these videos Ralph. Paying tribute to the great Paul Di'anno He Ruled and My Favorite Maiden singer. I Just Cranked the First Album and Killers and his Recent Warhorse man that Album Rocked!! RIP Paul 🙏
Just heard the news and very sad to hear Paul past away. R.I.P. to a true bad ass mother fucker. Your "Running Free" now for sure my friend. Killers changed my life and Maiden would have never been Maiden without you and that is a fact. If you don't agree, well the truth hurts....
Hey Doc! I'm glad you're covering Maiden's respecting him, even covering some of his medical bills recently... so cool. I saw Iron Maiden live Friday night in SLC, they were incredible. I love that they played "Iron Maiden", holding up that era of of Di'anno. Remember Tomorrow!!! R.I.P.
The 1st 2 albums are incredible!! There are opinions. Dianno/ Dickinson. Both are amazing!! I love the band, and I am damn glad that Bruce and Paul met, finally.
Iron Maiden is my favorite band and while I have always preferred Bruce I love the first two albums and listen to them as much as any of the Bruce albums. So sad to hear of his passing, he is a criminally overlooked metal legend!
I said it a lot today and I’ll say it again. This truly is a tragic and difficult loss that Paul DiAnno left us. An absolute legend in his lifetime. The singer of the best 2 Maiden albums. A god amongst men. Rest in peace Paul DiAnno 🤘🙏
Come on, man. Bruce likes early Maiden, otherwise he would not have joined them... Also he said if someone does not like Phantom of the Opera they don't like Iron Maiden.
I remember filming his band in Seattle at a bar . It must have been in the late 80's . I used to help a guy that worked for public tv. It was great fun and I got in for free and drinks were free. Great show . I lost his autograph😢
A band's popularity Or album sales Don't mean shit The question is Does the music and the musicians making it Touch your soul? Paul's voice punk rock delivery and attitude Did that for me Touched my soul from the moment I first heard it Maiden would have been just as famous with him They got famous with him Case closed I love Bruce too
It's good that he, and Bruce, recently met properly before Pauls passing, and the word is they got on great, which is good after they both said one or two negative things about one another over the years.
Oh I was worried about this day...kinda knew it was a real probability that it would happen...just not this year...my favorite Iron Maiden album is "Killers" and his early live performances can't be beat in my opinion by anyone...rest in peace Paul ! 🙏🏻
First two maiden albums are straight classics ! Top metal albums. Paul had a unique sound back in the day. You can't compare Bruce and Paul because they are different sounding. Some of my favourite songs by Paul are Women In Uniform, Burning Ambition and Remember Tomorrow. Peace Paul ✌️
I am on the fence on the Paul vs. Bruce argument. As I only seen Maiden once with Paul in '81. I love the first two albums and Maiden Japan and the Eps he did. They are Holy Grail to me and are still my favorites the band ever did. Sadly I never saw him solo or with the other bands he was in. You are so right, with Bruce it became another band. And I was good until the 90s. And they lost me, even though there a few gems through out their career. However I don't think that they would have been bigger with Paul. One as he was being a problem for them on the road. And I don't think he would have followed in the same direction they were going. But they would have never been in the position to go with Bruce without him in the first place. It is sad that they only do the old stuff only once in a blue moon. Even the 80s Bruce stuff that weren't the hits are never played. With so much they put with Bruce it is hard to make the argument that they were better with Paul. He was better for a different Iron Maiden. And like you I play and love it more. But you have to admit Bruce was amazing on Number, Piece, and Powerslave. And I love those too. And I don't think Paul would have wanted to go in that direction. So l love them both. I respect your opinion. RIP Paul Di Anno.
I saw them with Paul in 1981 in Montreal. We couldn't compare Maiden to any other band because they were original and awesome! They were all original, so I couldn't compare Paul, he was simply a part of the band and he was fucking HOT! Then, with Bruce, comparisons could be heard here and there. Maiden was a different band with a different singer. It's like KISS: if they became famous, it's because the four original members. Then, we couldn't really compare because I can't imagine Eric Carr on Alive! and Alive II, just like I can't imagine Peter on Creatures and Lick It Up. They had their own style and sound. Paul doesn't suffer anymore, but his voice will forever live and please us...
In an alternate universe When Loudness dropped their singer for an amerikkkan vocalist Mike Verseca (Prob spell wrong) They recruited PaulDianno And They Rule Live The StarGate is near Grand Canyon
I agree with you. I prefer Paul Di’Anno’s singing style over Bruce Dickinson’s. Paul’s style was so raw and unique and no one else in metal sounded anything like him. Those first two albums will always hold special place in my heart. I dig the stuff with Bruce but they don’t compare Paul’s stuff. Dickison was more polished, but Di’Anno had more swagger and attitude.
Paul and Bruce have completely different singing styles. I prefer Paul's style but I love Bruce's style too. Oddly, I like the music on those first 2 albums better than the later stuff too.Its almost like 2 completely different bands. It would be cool to hear what Paul would have done singing some of the great tunes from Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind and Powerslave. R.I.P. Paul.
First two are the best I've said it for year short straight to the point denim and leather punk infused heavy metal thunder that's not to say that I don't like any Bruce albums and may even love a few but the first two I worship at the altar RIP Paul di'anno Legend
Ralph is an OG Dianno supporter. I watched his whole career, some I liked (GogmaGog/Battlezone) some I did not (Dianno the OG band from 1984) but a world beating force in the metal world. Killers is one of the best Maiden (and metal in general) albums ever.
DiAnno had a real ‘street’ sound. The singing AND the lyrics were much more relatable. And yeah I DO know you, lol. The real Dr. Fuk don’t take no shit. Luvin it👍👍👍
His voice was absolutely "technically" great, he had plenty of high parts and had quite a range. i've studied vocals and know that he had at least 3 octaves. I don't get the hate.
It's silly, yes. Anyone who heard the first two albums back then all liked him, I was disapponited they fired him it took some time for me to warm up to Bruce he's such a different singer so while the new songs were great it took some getting used to his style.
Too bad they couldn't have done a few new tunes with him over the years at some point. Their debut album is one of my top 10 of all time even though I'm not a huge fan of what they became. Dianno's rebellious rock/punk attitude and vocal approach was a huge part of my appeal to that early stuff, couple with their slower grooves and style then.
In all fairness, The reason Van Halen sold more albums in the Dave years is because that's where it all began. And it's Eddie's playing that draws them in, not Dave's Jim Dandy Histrionics...
Why can’t people be Bruce and Paul fans? I love both of their voices and both are technically gifted. They both did great things in and out of Iron Maiden. I think Maiden is lucky to have had both of them
Well the Prowler prowles the backstreets of the great gig in the sky now! It's a shame if expected for some time now! On another music is very personal yet very public at the same time as anyone's subjective opinion has an objective basis.
Paul was a real working class bloke. Bruce is from an elite Legacy family of the UK - Cambridge College etc. He is an opera diva. No thanks. I was with Paul from the first album, then Liberace comes in....no thanks.
Think Di Anno was a moment in time for Maiden. The right place and right time. It was an important start on the journey of the band. Who was better ? Can’t really put one against the other. And DLR leaving VH different. Paul had his issues that resulted in the change of singers. And it never got better because of who Paul is and his demons. Who was the better singer from a sales and songwriter point? 1. Bruce 2. Paul and 3. Blaze - but your ears will prefer something different
Nothing against Paul I like how he sounded on those albums but i think with heavy touring , he couldn't keep up with it, and didn't come for gigs, so to be successful you have to be there , and Bruce also had to compete with Paul. Bruce has a very appealing presence and style of singing, just an opinion, but having said that I love the first two albums, i think the band has Steve and and Dave and then later on adrian smith, the musical composition is really memorable people forget that, for example, more than vocals I would even remember their melodies so as a band, they would have been on their way cause the songs, the riffs also are so good too. Catchy too.
Eddie is the star of Van Halen, Regardless of whoever(And I do mean whoever) the vocalist is. I just don't care anymore at this point. And why anyone else should care is beyond me...
Ralph!! This sux. I remember talking with my fellow marine grunt cj Ramone aka Chris Ward, he got the call to play with Paul's band, but declined ,reasons being paul was in a bad way and not to reliable about Makin shows or doing sub par Performances and Chris wished the gig was better, we both love killers the best, and Paul's fav band is the Ramones and really wanted Chris in the band, it was a financial risk and it would of sucked for him if the cash flow was sketchy, and of course I was looking forward to my inside hanging with the man the voice, that's been my fav record since 81. Love ya ralph for showing class to a major figure in metal 5hat will never be forgotten. Semper fi jaws bro and maybe we will get to hang in purgatory 😊$$
Paul had a funk and a swagger to his singing. Bruce has zero. Love Bruce/Maiden but they are completely different. Killers is one of the greatest albums of any genre. Paul has always had my respect.
The best Maiden was the early Maiden. Paul Di'Anno and Clive Burr gave the first two albums more punch, power and were rough edged. I stopped listening to Iron Maiden after Killers. I came in on Number of the Beast and was a Bruce guy for a long time, but over the years those first 2 albums gained on me more and more until they became my favorites. RIP Paul. Running wild, RUNNING FREE. 🤘😞
A lot of the music for Beast was written during the Paul era, but Bruce did the vocals. You can feel it.
You have definitely been on about Paul, going way back. I heard it from you first, and I think it's cool you are continuing the love.
Paul...bruce...they both rule. I'm sad for paul having gone through all he went through but least he's at peace now. Going to see maiden Saturday. Look forward to them paying tribute to paul
I was 15 years old when I heard Iron Maiden for the first time and 44 years later the two albums with Paul are still their best ones... 👍😁
I hope there is live stream of a memorial for Paul in our future.
Gone too soon !!! Thank you for the memories and all the great music !! Forever in our hearts . ❤ R.I.P.
Beautiful words! He really did matter to all of us REAL metalheads.....
The first album is one of my favorite albums of all time!! Prowler is the perfect start of a heavy metal album! RIP Paul
The 1st 2 albums are incredible!! There are opinions. Dianno/ Dickinson. Both are amazing!! I love the band, and I am damn glad that Bruce and Paul met, finally.
Paul was a monster. Fortunately I saw him on the Killers LP tour in San Antonio back in the early 80’s. Outstanding sir Up the Irons!!!!
Thank you for the video Almost Human, Paul is legend, may he R.I.P. ❤
Best vocal tone in heavy metal! God bless you and protect you in the spiritual world! Thank you, Paul Di'Anno!
Iron Maiden is my favorite band and while I have always preferred Bruce I love the first two albums and listen to them as much as any of the Bruce albums. So sad to hear of his passing, he is a criminally overlooked metal legend!
Those first two albums are soooooooooooooooo good.
Met him in 92.
RIP Paul! Im playing the first 2 Maiden albums tonight and the Battlezone album in his honor!
💥 Running Free 💥
Now You Are Finally Free 🙏
R.I.P Forever Legend ✝️
You will never be forgotten.
Regards From Norway 🇳🇴
Ralph!! you said Paul Stanley!!! lollo 2:01
oops
Of KISTH??
I made a point of searching for this comment hahaha!
I said it a lot today and I’ll say it again. This truly is a tragic and difficult loss that Paul DiAnno left us. An absolute legend in his lifetime. The singer of the best 2 Maiden albums. A god amongst men. Rest in peace Paul DiAnno 🤘🙏
Oh wow r.i.p Paul Deaino that's sad the first two albums can't be touched I agree with Ralph
Paul DI’Anno does rule, another great tribute Doc.
Paul DI’Anno Forever 🤘🏾🙏🏽
Iron Maiden should play a tribute show with ALL PAUL songs in the setlist!
Bruce needs to be humbled somehow, lol.
Come on, man. Bruce likes early Maiden, otherwise he would not have joined them...
Also he said if someone does not like Phantom of the Opera they don't like Iron Maiden.

I love Bruce too
Love those first two albums. Thanks for paying tribute🤘
Bruce has heart, but Paul had balls.
I think paul was more versatile. RIP., Paul!
DiAnno Maiden- Pure Kick ass Raw Rock Dickenson Maiden - After Piece of Mind, every album is a concept record with the same vibe
Yep
It's good that he, and Bruce, recently met properly before Pauls passing, and the word is they got on great, which is good after they both said one or two negative things about one another over the years.

Best Iron Maiden album......Killers......but Prowler is still my favorite Maiden song. R.I.P. Paul
10:44 sammy belcher makes an appearance out of nowhere lol
I wish Maiden would release the full shows from their '81 Japan tour. The Killers band was great.
Maiden, barely ever mentioned Di'Anno until now, better late than never I guess. RIP to the best Iron Maiden singer.
I like Paul D...Nothing wrong with Bruce..I prefer Paul
What he said 🤘🤘🤘
this is like me for Greg Rollie and Joe Perry
RIP Paul ❤

Sounds like Taylor Swift needs to start singing for Iron Maiden! And that would truly be a Smackajagob! PLAY LOUD!

Paul Dianno was fantastic
Paul voice better than bruce ever, even old bis voice still having great power and heavy tom man!!! Cheers 🥂
His voice was absolutely "technically" great, he had plenty of high parts and had quite a range. i've studied vocals and know that he had at least 3 octaves. I don't get the hate.

R.I.P. Paul I also prefer the first 2 albums Maiden lost that RAW Rock.n.Roll Punk street sound after Paul left
Blaze dominates them both.
Too bad they couldn't have done a few new tunes with him over the years at some point. Their debut album is one of my top 10 of all time even though I'm not a huge fan of what they became. Hey boss, can we get a Top Ten DiAno Songs video from ya?
Good Idea. Gonna tell the guys to do it for Almost Human Live this week
Why can’t people be Bruce and Paul fans? I love both of their voices and both are technically gifted. They both did great things in and out of Iron Maiden. I think Maiden is lucky to have had both of them
I am a fan of the first three albums with Bruce. And a huge fan oif three solo albums from Bruce. But I dig Paul so much more.
@@almosthuman56 I understand having a preference and that’s cool. I have mine but I love them both. Hope you enjoy your day brother
tell it brother
Bruce never sang anything with as much soul as Prodigal Son or Remember Tomorrow. And I dig Bruce, but I feel Paul's vocals more.
And Strange World
Tell me you never listened to Tears of the Dragon without telling me you never listened to Tears of the Dragon.
@LaughWhileItsStillLegal yeah I've heard it. Still stand by my statement.
Well the Prowler prowles the backstreets of the great gig in the sky now! It's a shame if expected for some time now!
On another music is very personal yet very public at the same time as anyone's subjective opinion has an objective basis.
I like everything Maiden has ever done except Virtual XI, I like the punkish vibe of the first 2 albums.
Paul was a real working class bloke. Bruce is from an elite Legacy family of the UK - Cambridge College etc. He is an opera diva. No thanks. I was with Paul from the first album, then Liberace comes in....no thanks.
Bruce is a theatre diva
Rip..

That is because they did not live it like us. They were not there. You know what you are talking about brother.
Back Then
Zeppelin
Beatles
Many bands didn’t blow Big on first albums
Eddie is the star of Van Halen, Regardless of whoever(And I do mean whoever) the vocalist is. I just don't care anymore at this point. And why anyone else should care is beyond me...
I agree with you, to my ears, Paul is a better singer. And he was very versatile as well. Bruce, very talented, but sounds very whiny to me
Who are these so called maiden fans that don’t like the first 2 albums? Lucky I never met one
Ralph!! This sux. No Maiden fan I know discounts or diminishes Paul whatsoever; most just prefer Bruce. Sad to see him go.
The best Maiden was the early Maiden.
Paul Di'Anno and Clive Burr gave the first two albums more punch, power and were rough edged.
I stopped listening to Iron Maiden after Killers.
They were a meaner sounding band with Paul Di'Anno on vocals.
RIP Paul.
Gods Grace and Comfort be with all who knew him and his many fans
I think Bruce is talented, but i still HATE his voice. Saw the original lineup in 81 - Cleveland Agora. Paul is so much better
lost interest when dianno left
I wish we could've see him do a performance with maiden one last time rest In peace Paul your legacy will still carry on
