  • FIXED: HOW TO MANUALLY OPEN/CLOSE THE TOP: docplayer.net/22854396-Eclips...
READ: The diagram in the link looks illegible at first, but it makes sense after you realize the picture is showing the whole backseat space but uses chat bubbles to zoom in on the part/hole you're trying to find. So it's all there. But remember to remove the T-bar that relieves the pressure from the system, making the top much easier to open. It doesn't say to do that in the guide but it's needed. That T-bar is behind the speaker, sticking straight up out of the pump. And while you're back there make sure the pump has hydraulic/transmission fluid. The fill line is on the back side of the pump and I was able to read it with my phone's camera w/ flash. Any transmission/power steering fluid should work.
After removing the T-bar and finding/manually moving the arms that move the top (pics in the link), put the top to either the fully closed or fully open position, then put the T-bar back in, and the buttons to open/close the top should work again. No beeping! May take a couple presses tho :) GL y'all I hope this helps!
Also, I found out the reason it got stuck in the first place was due to a leak in one of the hydraulic arms. I put power steering stop-leak in the system and opened/closed the top a couple times to run the stop-leak through, but it didn't yield results... Now I'm wondering if I have to replace that arm or if it can resealed with a new gasket/washer, but winter's coming so I'm gonna hold off til next season. Will update :)
Original: I also tried to access a supposed switch behind a panel in the trunk to enable manual operation of the top, but I couldn't find the switch, it's most likely not in this year. I've tried resetting the battery for 30m, which also didn't work. The motor was working when I was "helping it closed" but now when you press either button it just beeps 3 times, most likely because the system is out of sync, since I closed the rear window portion before the cover panel was completely closed.

Hey brother thanks you for the video, I have a 2009 gs eclipse with the same issue, today I opened the panel you show and removed everything from the back including the seats, I twisted that lever left and right and felt like pressure was relieved but still no luck in bringing the top down had all latches and velcro yanked off, but when I try to press open or close I just get 3 beeps, any ideas on what it could be? The car drives good its just a bummer the top won't come down 😢

i have the same issue, except my tonneau won’t seal!! i figured out how to get my flipper closed all the way you have to reopen it, open the latch with the emergency allen wrench (but i used a screwdriver) and have another person slowly move the flipper down and move the emergency tool thing back to relatch the flipper. the tool moves the latches. i think for it to work easy you have to release the pressure with the valve in the back. is it easy to reach the valve from the subwoofer in the back? i think that will fix the problem i’m having w my tonneau

I think you have to move the arms on the side to make it move easy, there are 2, one on the left and one on the right

yeah after removing the T handle on the hydraulic pump, on the inside of the convertible liner there's a place to put in a big alan wrench to move one of the arms of the top into position for the whole top to be put down manually, gotta do both sides, then you can move the arm that's above that rear speaker in the back seat, and move the top, after that the top just needed put all the way up or all the way down so the computer will work again, and it worked again, if it doesn't then there may be something up with the hydraulics or the computer that reads where the top is positioned

@@scofozo where at in the liner?

Just above the backseat's side panels, there's actually a peice of velcro tying the felt of the top to the arms of the mechanism, un-velcro'ing that will reveal the arm's/hole's location. I've updated the description with a link to a picture showing exactly where it is. The picture was hard for me to understand at first but made sense after some staring at it. Hope this helps. @@saffronize3909
