I'm sure by now you figured out your fix. The hydraulic part you were asking about is called a "tonneau" hydraulic cylinder. If you look right above the guy's name (Donnie Shew) you will se the transcript. Click on it and it will open at the top right of the video. Then you can read it without having to back up the video. Maybe this might help somebody else who found their way here!!
Yes, how did you lift the "tonneau"? (not sure what that called. My car is sealed shut and there is no getting in there. what / where are these plastic panel buttons you forced open with a butter knife? Maybe I didn't follow what you were describing either. great VID either way,. trying to find a soft top specialist near Atlanta to service mine. no luck so far. thanks again!
Also had major problems with top. Dealership was absolutely no help. Recommended more than $4k in repairs. Took it to an actual mechanic who fixes things. Note there is a wiring harness on the right had side that is in a bad place that stresses the electrical wires every time you open or close the top. My top had two broken wires. Mechanic repaired the wires and repositioned the harness to minimize movement stress. PROBLEM SOLVED for fraction of what the dealership wanted to charge me. Also be aware that Mitsubishi no longer carries some of the critical parts for this top mechanism. So before you completely lose it, try checking the wiring harness for wire breaks, it is apparently a common problem.
Omg thank you! My top hasnt opened for a year on my 2011 spider, i cant find ANYONE who can fix it! Im going to have my son look at this video and hopefully it will work! Thanks again! 🤞
@Teniche J there is a half moon mechanism behind the subwoofer that has to be adjusted with a little tool that should be on the speaker cover, it's a video on it explaining it. Mines was making the same noise but when I replaced my top they must've adjusted it and it works fine, no annoying noise.
How can you get it up like that? Bc my is closed. But it will tell me that it's open. But it's close. I never opened it up since I bought the car off someone.
What is that hydraulic part called thats lifting up the cover of the roof when it goes in and then closes

How did you take off the plastic cover. 😂. It would of been kinda helpful to show that step but thanks for the information.
there are 4 or 6 (I can't remember) plastic panel buttons on the vertical surface that pop off then the plastic well lifts out.
