Hey Scotty what is your opinion on a 2015 Camaro?
@@ethanschwartz8486 I'd avoid it
Scotty Kilmer how about a 2016 Passat?
Scotty your gas link is set to private. 😬
ive always wanted a eclipse but they are damn near impossible to find in california
The only auction car I would buy.. is one that was owned by Scotty
Oh so you like Toyotas too?😂😂
Actually not a bad idea! Scotty's trusted dealership OR car repair shops across the country should pay Scotty for his TRUSTED seal of approval. That way we know we're not getting ripped off. Personally love the video where you bring your car in and do it yourself or if can't, they will :D
Make sure you pay a mechanic to check it out, ppl tend to lie cheat and steal 😭😭😭
Imagine owning Scotty’s 94 Celica. You would have pure perfection in your driveway.
Imagine how much $$ Scotty's legendary '94 Celica would sell for at auction! People would bid it straight into the stratosphere.
Scotty works harder on vacation than I do on the clock! 😆
I love how he puts the Chevy dealership on screen whenever he's talking about the junkyard.
Lmao i love it, should put a Kia or Nissan up too
@@gravygrizz833 𝙵𝚒𝚊𝚝 𝚝𝚘𝚘
🤣
@@gravygrizz833 Naw, Chevy is perfect!
GM has produced junk since about 07.
You should contact those salvage guys who fixed up this car and do a video with them. I’d be interested in their story and business!
I would think so too.
The paint looks like they did a nice job.
Matching alone is.. A challenge.
Same here.
In reply to You should do a story on the Salvage Guy that did the Mitsubishi .
Scotty’s energy is honestly what makes these videos never lose interest or make the learning parts boring. He always explains in a way I can visualize enough to understand
the 4g eclipse with the 3.8 was criminally under appreciated. thing would eat up v8 mustangs of the time with a decent driver.
Hi! 10 yrs ago and now still watching scott!!! Hehe here from PH
hello and thank you!
@@scottykilmer, do you know what PH is, Scotty? Lmao
@@mrh4900 Philippines 🤨
I don't understand why people would just write PH, instead of Philippines...as if everyone knows what it means!!! Lol
The timing belt tip was one of the best tips ever. Not doing so *_is_* a gamble.
I miss my 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS sport, drove that car from Texas to Tennessee and all the way back without any issues. Car was definitely dependable 👍
Currently have an 06 Eclipse GS, bought in Texas and drove it back to Michigan. I’ve had it for 6 1/2 years. 5speed manual. Very fun
Got 2 x 4g eclipse spyder gt's one for me and another for my (ex). 2007 &. 2008. Hers has 230k miles still no serious issues, mine half that but again no issues other than the top which about to replace. Js they are extremely dependable. Engine has been bulletproof thus far! Love em.
Thank you Scotty for always being honest - and truly helping people.
I wanna get a totalled hail-damage car and get a vanity tag for it that reads DIMPLES.
I like your style.
I work for carmax I bought 2 wholesale vehicles due to hail damage the offer to the customer dropped. deals on wheels literally!
I own the exact same car minus the convertible. Same color too, picked it up low miles, last owner was not mechanically inclined at ALL! So now it’s my small project and daily I love it
Three laughing horses are better than one!😂😂😂
They really are😅
The editing in these videos is wonderful. Good work Scotty !
I’m looking for a car but I’m staying for his charisma
Just bought a clean no rust 2005 ford ranger edge with 3.0 AT 2wd 139,000 $2900 from a private seller. The Ford dealership in our town has a clean 2009 2wd AT 2.5 with a 141,000 and they are wanting $11,900. People have lost their minds.
I still laugh every time he puts up Chevy pic when he says junkyard 🤣
Never gets old.😂
I know right yet I drive a 03 GMC Sierra.
Having Scotty in your car is like smoking a joint with Snoop Dogg
On point that is.
Having Scotty diagnose your car and work on it
Lol
Been driving a salvage car for 5 years. Best purchase ever.
That's all I have in my yard.
Still drive my 2010 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. At eleven years it drives great and never have a problem with it, only have to keep up with maintenance.
The chevy dealership junkyard reference kills me every time lol
GM junk product's only.😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
@Allen Tokyo I drive a chevy truck
.. it still makes me laugh. Chevy use to be awesome but they are the new Hyundai now with the quality control
I used to love those 6 cylinder Mitsubishi Exclipse years ago but never bought one, she's a beauty.
Gotta love Scotty's jovial disposition when he finds a car he's really impressed with. Hey Scotty, how does one find these kind of "honest guys" ? I could use a "good - used" car !
Bottom line, it is always a gamble when you buy a salvage car. This guy got lucky.
A neighbor down the street has an older model eclipse like this, with the V6 and manual transmission. Still runs great
I've bought 8 different eclipses in the last 2 decades. They DON'T have bad automatic transmissions. They are such great cars. Actually, any time they need something replaced, it is always small, and the exact same part typically in each year/model after 100k miles (I'd be happy to provide the list of "what breaks on Eclipses after 100k" if anyone wants it! Lol). With that being said, the one I've kept the longest is my 2012 Spyder SE, purchased a decade ago. This video caught my attention because when I purchased it with 60K miles, in mint condition, I only paid $6000 🤣. What a steal!!!! I got it from a dealership (they got it from an auction). Now it is pushing 215k miles, and it drives like it is still brand new. Nowadays the bigger issue is finding parts for the Special Edition 2012. The other editions still have parts available but mine is so hard to find!! But gosh, it sure does have a lot of fun features!!
That is a really good looking car. What makes it more special is the fact that it was one of the cars from NFS MW!!! Good find mate!
I was wondering if Scotty’s voice echoes through the neighborhood😂🤙🏼
Yes!
I just bought one just like this 2 months ago. Timing belt, water pump and spark plugs were done. I live in New Mexico so no worries about rust.
Scotty Kilmer at his finest. This video works on many levels. Great job!
Good evening Scotty! Great Auction/ Salvage Info sir 👍
I love that Eclipse, they are fun with that V6.
Yep scotty I've had four fixed salvaged cars over the years from the same guy here in England saved a fortune and never had a problem with any of them 😊
Always good videos but I couldn't find the link to these particular salvage guys thank you stay safe
this car looks very nice for 3500, definitely worth it if they fixed it right.
That was just the purchase price, he had to replace wheels, tires and other stuff, and anyway, the price is not realistic.
Got mine for 5.9 going the dealership route
@@ert-wert recently got mine for $5.5k as well ,for 70k miles
@@eclipsereviews4678 that's a steak at 7K if yours is just as sexy
Bought mine for $3.4k with around 80k miles about 4 years ago, and still very reliable, definitely a steal
The singular honest mechanic that I've witnessed is Scotty.
I did exactly this, but with a toyota celica! Scotty would love it
Scotty being happy and positive! Heck yeah!
Love your channel, keep the video coming
Whenever Scotty Kilmers drops the new videos I roll up the Wool-o and get all schmoked up
Scotty loves the older cars @ a bargain price 😝. Scotty has more fun on a working vacation than people do @ beach 🏖
Scotty do you happen to know the name of the company that fixed this salvage car? If you put it out here for all your subscribers that would be great .
Always learn a few things every time I watch you
Hey Scotty please do a video what Toyota sienna years to buy and what years to avoid and the same with Honda Odyssey and the history of them
will do!
@@scottykilmer would be very helpful. My mother who is poor made the biggest purchase of her life that ment a lot to her, was a new van. And because of you I begged her to go Toyota but it was hard finding any videos of you speaking in depth about them. You've got a minivan video and you mention sienna and oddesys all the time in most of your videos lol... but never really go in depth beyond stating they are the best.
@@ert-wert My mom got a Town & Country once. I say once because two transmissions is one too many to replace.
@@widsquard it was either going to be that. Or the dodge grand caravan.
I talked her out of both thankfully. Gotta say my parents where both quite disappointed and shocked to find out the downfall of iconic American automakers
Outstanding video and presentation
Always loved the Eclipse! The coupe version.
I have the same one with a automatic, still going 250k rough miles later. People just don’t maintain their transmissions thinking it’s lifetime fluid and then the transmission becomes the lifetime of the fluid.
Absolutely love his videos
Jokes always killing it. Haha
Good day scotty! Love your vids :)
Love my 09 GT Eclipse, had it for 8 years and no major issues at all with it, but yes, change the belts/pulleys/water pump and do the oil change every 3 months👍🏼🔥
Plus I love the old Mitsubishis with the Manual transmission. They were so much better built.
I have a 1G DSM, manual, AWD, turbo, drive it year round. Sure, it developed a fair amount of underbody rust but nothing too bad, got all of it off, treated and painted it, looks almost new. Replaced everything you need to replace on a car that old, belts, bushings, bearings, BJs, tie rods, struts, gaskets, seals, etc., rebuilt the trans, put in a new clutch & PP, the works. Still needs a little work but nothing serious, runs great. They really built those cars well and if you treat them well they treat you well.
Imagine getting to bring your car to Scotty and taking him on a test ride while he films... I can only dream
I have the exactly the same one in stock orange color and it’s really an eye catching car when I drive with top down out here in Brooklyn
I love every time Scotty says, "Junkyard," up pops the pix of a Chevrolet dealership!
Because of this video, years later I bought an eclipse 2011 with 55k on it manual trans. One of the greatest cars I've ever had now. Thankyou Scotty. Mine is a 4 banger, but man is it easy to work on.
Nice car same as mine lol !!!
Japanese engine yep they do rattle , their fast enough for normal roads. I have a 3G which has the 2.4 so it's more frugal and yes the timing belt was changed.
scotty do a video on your thoughts about the new lexus is500 coming out with the NA V8 💪🏻💪🏻
Great video I am blessed to be able to learn from you
You could also talk about selling apps (like Letgo or Offerup) as well. I managed to sell my 2013 Buick on one of those apps for I think $700 off of my asking price which was $300 above my car note. The trade in dealer would only offer me about 70% of my car note. I was surprised but managed to sell it pretty easily.
Happy Sunday scotty!
happy Sunday!
If you go to the right people auctions can be great. The guy I go to is mainly a shop but he loves volvos and goes up to the better-tiered auctions with warranties to see if there are any good volvos he can get his hands on. You let him know what you have for cash what you are looking for and he will let you know if its there. Waits for really good clean vehicles, goes through them 100% to see if they need to be sent back and is honest. Owned 4 vehicles my whole life and 3 of them have been through him and all of them have had barely any issues. Latest vehicle he got me is a 2017 Fusion 2.5 63K miles and it came out to 14,500$. Far better pricing than the dealerships.
Love the videos keep it up :)
He keeps talking about the "guys" that fixed it, but who are they? Otherwise nobody knows and can go there.
Greetings from Minnesota!
AMAZING GOOD ADVICE 👍😀👌👍 GOD BLESS YOU 🙏😅
Bought a 2002 Mustang convertible 6 cylinder. Only 94.4k on it. Starts up the first turn of the key. Even the roof is in great shape, though, not perfect. Clean, no rust on the body or undercarriage. Leather interior is nearly mint. I never owned or have ever driven in a convertible before, so I grabbed the deal. Sadly, I don't have a place to store it in winter so probably won't keep it long. Wanted to enjoy the experience though. I live in NY and this car has never seen salt, would like to keep it that way.
I have seen auto haulers delivery salvaged vehicles into Florida, most of those wrecks are either repaired and sold at buy here/pay dealers ripping innocent people off. or exported to countries where they become titled washed. Always do a Vin check
Had an eclipse picked out but the mechanic who owned it (not scotty) dragged his feet on get ting a part it needed. I could not longer wait and ended up up getting a Mini. Eclipse are fun to drive also ...make sure it has that anti theft device
I had a 1984 Dodge Conquest which was really a Mitsubishi Starion. Great little turbo charged sports car until I hit a deer in a rain storm and almost totaled it out. The only thing that saved me is that is was running full speed across the road when I hit it.
I love your videos Scotty
I got a 2012 Accord with 12k miles. It was a salvage but the only damage was the rear bumber. It in no way looked totalled to me but after the repair it looked new. Not a single problem out of it.
salvage means nothing. Insurance took my 2001 Camry V6 with 120k miles on it and the rear bumper was hit and knocked off they salvaged the car because of the age. Someone is driving my car around now with nothing wrong. new brakes, new power steering pump, engine in excellent condition, air conditioning excellent .......
Had this exact car (minus the convertible). Great car, never gave me a problem in the 5 years I owned it. Took it to one track day and blew the engine. Oops lol
Those eclipse are a lot of fun even in automatic. Save the sticks...
I bought a 2014 lancer es for 5k last year and lemme tell ya i keep up with the basic maintenance on it and ive had no problems whats so ever! I fricken love how reliable the car is and especially how they hold up in the harsh Massachusetts winters just get good snow tires 😆
In 2019 I got the Lancer's cousin, the outlander sport(same platform and engine) and it is an excellent vehicle in snowy places with the all wheel drive and I don't even use snow tires. Despite what Scotty has said about this brand, reliability is typically quite good on Mitsubishis, by most accounts ...just make an effort on good maintenance like changing engine oil and especially transmission fluid changes, which a lot of people tend to overlook.
It's such a pity Mitsubishi killed the Lancer....
😂I enjoy watching your videos Scotty 😂never get bored we need more MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE GS videos please 🙏🏻
I bought this same car of FB marketplace for $5k. It made it from Miami, FL to BC, Canada with only two O2 sensor changes. Solid
Looks like a fun drive
Gotta love that manual!
I just love Scotty he has saved me so much money💰
I just got me a RWD Toyota 4runner with 181000 miles for $1900 after looking for a car for a month. No rust underneath, nice looking frame, and even has a Catalytic converter!
A few downsides on it is the front seats are ripped up and latch to open gas tank is broken.
I plan of going to a local Toyota junkyard; pulling seats and possibly front dash/middle dash compartment and replacing.
Edit: I got the car from OfferUp app.
Yes it looks very nice!
Collision damage can affect the electrical and frame too.
My four japanese cars (3 Mitsubishi's, 1 Suzuki) are all old ones, 94, 95. They have been taken good care off, and where I live in the mountains there are almost no rust issues. Drive with responsibility, do all preventive maintenance, and they will last.
Hey Scotty, I’m looking at getting a 89-90 or 90-95 old Toyota pickup truck for a first ever project vehicle. Are they good vehicles for a novice or new coming mechanic? Much love from Michigan!
Scotty brought the horses out for the leather back seats!!
I love those horses!
😅😅😅
Scotty I have lived and worked in the Houston area for 45 years. Worked as commercial refrigeration and AC tech. Watched helplessly while manufacturers and suppliers started selling Chinese knock offs of good equipment, now we have expensive computers to do what a ten dollar thermostat used to do. I have driven every truck ever made. Hands down Toyota is the best,I liked them so much I bought one with 199,000 miles on it. They didn’t want to put money in truck with that high mileage. Had to spend 3,000$ to repair pollution equipment new belt and plugs. I have put another 100,00 since then. I’love that little Tacoma
Man it is HAAAAARD AS A ROCK to find a honest mechanic these days. Hey Scotty, let me know when you travel to Puerto Rico so you can take a look at my car. Hehe!! I have an Eclipse as well.
A nice looking convertible. Never available here in Australia. So sad!
Thank God there is still some honest people about doing an honest days work.
Scotty can you do a video fixing the leaks on these roofs? I’ve never owned a convertible and I just got a spyder and discovered the roof leaks
Where is this dealership located?? I’d love to find a good deal on something!
I just saw this and this was exactly my situation, except I got mine for 1500 with front end damage (hood, front bumper , radiator and fans). Lovely cars. Support sucks for aftermarket but it’s one of the best daily vehicles ever. It is also a tank, check the frame, layers and layers. It will sacrifice its life to save yours. The front seats are the best. Take them out of a non-spyder, put them in a spyder, boom. THE ONLY BAD THING ABOUT THESE CARS IS THE WEAK AUTO TRANSMISSION. :) oh and, insurance is 45 bucks. Yes $45. Even though you don’t care.
So what is the name of the place that did the salvage work!?
My Toyota pick up was under water for two weeks. I dried it out, dry fired the water out. Changed oil, etc. Ran for another ten years.
my 1st car was a 2001 mitsubishi galant from an auction ...... it seemed pretty reliable the years i had it
Can we get the name of the guys that do the salvage repairs? I’m in the area and would like to know them!
I got an auction car and the only things wrong were missing radio antenna and a leak from the roof, too care of the issues myself and saved a ton of $$$
My wife drives a 2016 Honda HRV with 122,000 mostly freeway miles. So on a 70 mile round trip, I would say 60 Is open freeway miles minus about 10 of that being stop and go freeway miles. I have the oil changed every 3000 miles and have followed manual recommendations on "other". I hatrrgggd the transmission fluid replaced on June 2. It's been a great car with the only annoying problem being the driver side sun visor just kinda hangs there like a spring went "BOING", and I can feel the passenger side is getting mushy as well. I'm very proud of my wife, she looked into many different dealerships, did the research and chose the Honda. She could've done a lot worse. Now it's MY job is to see to it that it lasts into retirement, she'll be 62 and I'll be 61, both in August, 2 days apart. My question: should l be considering replacing the timing belt (or chain)?
