I don’t know…..both of those books look INCREDIBLE! The only reason to grade it would be to further preserve it. You did a fantastic job putting it in presentable condition. Definitely feel like this is newsworthy. Thanks for sharing.
How awesome is that? I picture you cleaning the comics like an archeologist with gentle brushes. I would have been thrilled with the All American comic alone. Congratulations.
I really loved the story how those books lay unknown for almost 80 years! Wow! No sense getting it graded because every collector is going to know it’s a 0.5 grade or 1.0 at best. Top loader will clearly do the job of preserving those wonderful iconic books and any serious collector will be willing to pay handsomely for any one of them! Good for you Alex!!! 👏👏👏👏
Imagine. People are more likely to find an adult magazine collection though unfortunately. Some kids hide Action Comics 1 in the walls and some kids hide their Victoria Secret catalog. Haha.
I’d have the subby 1 conserved. Repair all the chew by leaf casting each wrap, reinforce the spine with tengujo paper, seal the tear seals, clean the cover, and then press the book and restaple it with the original staple. Then after all that work is done either enjoy it as is to read from time to time or c CGC it if you like encasing books for posterity. Great project for your pal Jerry the jitterbug! Many thanks for sharing this wonderful find. So happy for you!🎉😊
Excellent stuff. It will get a 0.5 if I grade it due to missing pages, but I wish I could do the work. I would and don’t want to spend $1,000s having it done.
Awesome find! Thanks for sharing - I can dream! 😂 That Action 1 was found in my state of Minnesota - makes me want to look for old homes built in 1938-40! Heh!
What an epic find! So awesome to be able to save those pieces of history and a legendary story as well. Thanks for sharing! If it were me, I would reach out to Sanderson Studios for recommendations and ultimately send to CGC to make sure these books are preserved. Insane find my friend!
This is 100% newsworthy. Both books are great and worthy of a CGC case. I do think you should give it to some professionals to see if they can approve the books in anyway. Who knows you might get a CGC 1.0, which is better than a CGC 0.5.
Yes. I agree. It’s a miracle that they survived. I would assume because the barn was mostly dry under all that hay. It’s a blessing that they don’t have any mold or anything either.
Congrats on these great barn finds. Usually it's an old car etc. LOL. Those rats had the most expensive meal of their lives on that Submariner #1. LOL. Definitely have them cleaned and pressed. Possible restoration even. Please follow up and let us know what you decide. Please bring these two books back on the channel again.
In their glory days,80 to 100 million comics per week were sold! Aside from being passed around, and read so many times they would fall apart, a lot of them ended up in paper Recyling centers for the war machine. Swiftly after the war, came the war against juvenile delinquency. By the end of 1949, Massive private school burnings of comics were being done, and continued to be done to 1954, when they went more low key and just begin to dump them into landfills. These people actually thought, that by locating and destroying every single pre code comic out there, they would stop juvenile delinquency. Fortunately for comic fans, in 1955, rock and roll was coming on strong, and the do Gooders found a much bigger target to go after. Otherwise, even the Meger survivors found today, would be far less.
Those books are amazing!
Incredible! You know I love finding comics in strange and unusual places and that absolutely qualifies! Fantastic books and story Alex!
Yes! I wish I had flea markets around my area like you do. I’m in the Midwest so it’s barn finds for me.
What a great story behind this… these are the moments that drive collectors to keep searching for grails. Thanks for sharing ❤
What a fantastic find!! It makes so excited that these kind of books still are being found.
It's awesome to hear stories like this, the nostalgia is off the recter scale.
Sometimes the stories make the books that much more interesting.
Congratulations on that amazing find 👍
The story behind the find makes these books better than mint. Wonderful.
I don’t know…..both of those books look INCREDIBLE! The only reason to grade it would be to further preserve it. You did a fantastic job putting it in presentable condition. Definitely feel like this is newsworthy. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. I feel like they are currently doing well. I think they are fine as is especially since I have them in the top loaders.
They both present nicely. Congratulations.
Amazing! Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome. I love sharing content like this, because this is the kind of stuff i like to see/hear.
How awesome is that? I picture you cleaning the comics like an archeologist with gentle brushes. I would have been thrilled with the All American comic alone. Congratulations.

Amazing finds my friend!!!
WOW! Congrats!...:)
Thank you.
So amazing! I love the sense of history and thinking of everything that happened since those were first bought.
Same, it’s fun to image the kid who has these in the van. Maybe his mom hated them so he hid in the barn. Who knows, but it’s fun to think.
Congrats Alex
That is a spectacular find. Congratulations.
Congratulations! Great find.
I'm a bit surprised those books weren't weathered any further than they were. Glad you got the call so we could all see them.
This is incredible! It is for sure news worthy. Huge congratulations.
I agree. If it wasnt me I would be going nuts....I would also be so motivated to go out and hunt for undiscovered comics.
congrats Alex🎉
Suprisingly the colors on both books were super resilient after so many years..
Yeah. They both look pretty decent with all things considered.
Fun find !
thanks!
Happy to see such gems rescued.
Awesome find Alex! There are without a doubt gems still to be found out there. Congrats & thanks for sharing.
I hope more get found. It’s crazy to think what could still be out there.

Awesome finds keep up the amazing work
WOW!!
Those are looking damn good for being in a barn for 82 years.
I think I said 82 years way too many times on this video. haha, but I completely agree with you.
The colors actually look amazing on that Submariner
They really aren’t bad at all.
The colors on both are beautiful! Thank you Alex for preserving these and letting us share in your joy ❤
Thanks for the spoiler man I'm sure you just had to put the name of the book
Heck yes, Alex! Love when books have a story with them
That’s so sick Alex congrats man. 🎉
Wow🔥🔥 well done my man
Thank you my friend.
That's amazing
I would get them graded to protect them. They are both really cool.
Cool finds
Wow…Submariner number 1-what a find. I’m so impressed
Awesome story! What a find, congrats Alex
Very kind comment. Thank you.
All American Comic…incredible
.
Those are really awesome congrats
Omg I was trying to think what would be better than the Green Lantern. And Sub Mariner. What great books. What a great story. Don’t ever sell!!!!!
So awesome! Makes me want to tear down my house and see if there are anything in the walls 😂

Yes! Well at least you know there were some old comics in your state at one point. Possibly more.
Nice! Congratulations on the great pickups!
Thank you so much my friend.
Oh wow, given the age and conditions those were in all that time-those held up well! 👍🏾😀
Well, that doesn't suck. Just goes to show you what might still be out there. Congrats on being part of that.
This was just found a few weeks ago. There has to be more finds like this all over the place. Can you imagine.
@@AlextheComicHoarder Not really, and that's what makes it so awesome.
Awesome pickup! Incredible find, great story 👍🏽
Thanks brother.
Dang! When it said 82 years, my first thought was Captain America #1. Still a great find
Alex you lucky man! The story that goes with both comics is phenomenal . It’s newsworthy for sure!
What an epic find! So awesome to be able to save those pieces of history and a legendary story as well. Thanks for sharing! If it were me, I would reach out to Sanderson Studios for recommendations and ultimately send to CGC to make sure these books are preserved. Insane find my friend!
That is the way I am leaning. They are already pretty beat. Sanderson will truly give them their best life and then to CGC.
This is 100% newsworthy. Both books are great and worthy of a CGC case. I do think you should give it to some professionals to see if they can approve the books in anyway. Who knows you might get a CGC 1.0, which is better than a CGC 0.5.
Congrats Alex!!! What a great couple books. You know which one I like the most 🙂. Also, great thumbnail!
Yes! Maybe there are more barns with comics in them! We need to hunt them down.
Awesome book Alex. Did you ever decide the path to take with the book?
Outstanding find. The story is so great. Do not send them off. There would have been 64 pages. Wow
Great video.
Suggestion: Please bump up your video recording quality to at least 1440p. It would be nice to see these comics in HD.
That is cool how you came across that and plus to have another story like doctor midnight
Such stunning books! Great find Alex. I definitely need to move to America 😂
This has never happened to me in 30+ years of collecting.
My only advice on that would be let everyone you know, know that you like comic books. And then be ready to buy when the opportunity ones along.
Wow! After that long it's a wonder there is anything left of either of them. Interesting story, glad they have a good home now
Yes. I agree. It’s a miracle that they survived. I would assume because the barn was mostly dry under all that hay. It’s a blessing that they don’t have any mold or anything either.
Wow! That’s a great story and incredible find after so many years. Glad they found a new home 👊🏼
Hey, thanks. It was awesome seeing you in the chat last night. Just like the good ol days.
What an incredible find you never know what you'll find hidden

Great find Sub 1 😮
How much were they?? Amazing books alex!
I’ll say that they were under $2,000
@@AlextheComicHoarder 👍👍👍👍 good score and amazing story.
Again, how many years was it in the barn? 😅 congrats!! Do we get to know what you paid? That is vital info you should include in the vid.
Submariner #1 Holy Grail from 1941 💰💰💰

Would you try to restore the Submariner book.
leave them just like they are
Bro have you talked to doom 143 doesn't he live in Hawaii is he okay.
Yeah. We just did a live show on his channel. Go there and check it out. 9.2 crew live.
