Thank you for this side by side Mary! I have some Peerless that a friend gave me and still have yet to really dive into them. This was helpful :)

Thank you! I like how portable they are, a really flat palette!

My grandmother had her photo portrait tinted with the Peerless paints in 1923 and the color has not faded or changed one itoa in all this time. The comparison is made with a photo that has been hanging on the wall and a smaller version closed in an album...Peerless may not last as long as an oil painting but they will definitely last 3 or 4 life times if not more.

That's great! Although other considerations are whether the photo was treated (e.g. sprayed), put under UV filtering glass, and the amount of direct light it gets each day. I have photos that look great after 20+ years under glass and not in direct light but I also have one the same age that looks terrible, even under UV filtering glass, because it is in direct light every day. Also, lightfastness varies by color. Dyes in general are not lightfast and certain colors are worse than others (called fugitive). Peerless watercolors are not considered lightfast, which is why there has never been any ASTM testing, although some artists have done their own testing (you can Google this to see their results).

Great review! I'm new with watercolors... have only used pencil watercolors. I want to buy watercolors that are not in pencil form, so I've been watching reviews and found out about Peerless watercolor sheets. I thought Peerless were the only color sheets available, but thanks to your review I now know about Viviva. I will order a booklet now!

Thanks! I think you will love them - perfect size for travel, yet pigmented enough to use in the studio.

Mary - I was referencing this to send to a friend and I noticed that the link to the blog post in the subscription doesn't bring up the page on your blog. (I did find it via the search function, but just thought I'd let you know.)

Thank you! I am not sure why the link didn't get copied right but I fixed it.
