ha ha almost forgotten you, you and ryan leech was the names i heard first time i encountered trial. watching those Vhs tapes of you guys back n the days
WoW IMPRESSIVE ALI !! Manifesto FINALLY manifested !!! Ryan's famous 'Railroad to Rail' line was actually filmed in two different days, and we both got fined $500cdn for hanging out on an active railroad... ;P lol I believe Ryan's heritage is from the UK, you could say it went full REVOLUTION.
No hops just flow! Ryan Leech was my idol too. It is now 10 years ago and I trained really hard. Now I am 40 and still love riding trials. My little sons are trying to do the same stuff on their little bikes and thats so much fun for me to see them copiing what I try.
You should definitely keep doing these retro builds. Maybe turn it into a build, ride and review series. Its cool seeing older bikes being ridden again.
I usually don't enjoy vids of unsuccessful attempts, but yours have me riveted. Perhaps because I am learning trials and it is extremely relatable. I watch each one, I am exhausted for you, then you go "great now I need to do that to bench". Pure drive. Wow!
Ryan inspired the late 90s riders as a generation. Back then specialzied trials bike was available (no seat, no gear change), but not many people had it. He proved to us all that our daily ride to school mountain bike can also make moves with just some modificatioin. Bashguard, low seat, 33 in the back, less cogs, 1 chainring in the front ... This is still my prefered setup for a practical bike. Thank you Ali for proving this again.
I think that might be some of your best riding. I really enjoyed it. So good. I'd love to see "only make" cuts of your videos. It's cool seeing all the work that goes in to getting the moves, but it would be great to have a "supercut" of all the nailed attempts.
Ryan was one of my favourite riders when I was younger I think I still have a couple of his DVDs somewhere. Nice build and great riding a brilliant display of Ryan's 'manifesto'.
Great effort! I remember when Manifesto came and I tried duplicating some of the moves I could already do and realizing how much more difficult it really was without correctional hops. Nice job Ali! 🚴👍
Ryan Leech was my hero after popping in a VHS tape and seeing some stuff I thought was impossible. Super cool to build the bike and do the style Ali. Props for always setting yourself such hard challenges and not just moving on. I feel like that captures the real essence of what trials is all about. Love your determination and creativity man!
Ridden with Ryan Leech a few times back in his hay day. First time I met him he was riding his signature titanium Norco team trials frame with custom low travel Marzocchi's. Amazing dude. I love how riding this bike transcended your riding style!! Full Leech hook to front wheel, reverse nose wheelie out to smash the concrete. 😆 Love you're content, Keep up the good work Ali!!! 🤘
@@Ali_Clarkson often function over form preduces beauty, back in the 90s I could guarantee a 33 inch bunny hop, using an upside down stem on a cannondale delta v, when I added a suspension fork it was impossible...
I love the manifesto style riding. It's so smooth and whippy! also did anyone notice the play on the suspension when he was on the front wheel? it wobbled
Dude, seriously. With this style of riding, hot DAMN you look SICK. I cant believe it man, so much friggin steeze like that :O i mean sure, i cant imagine any way how that would be easy, quick or enjoyable to try over and over again and get it perfect but when you did, holy smokes, what some fresh visual shit dude!
What a great start to the weekend, these videos keep getting better. Another incredible trials bike and some brilliant riding. Already looking forward to the next video. Definitely going to go back and watch old Ryan leech vids now. Thanks again Ali.
Your style is so flowy and pure! I love watching it! I’m a fan of Ryan Leech too and took some of his online courses - the man helped my wheelie evolve from zero meters to 750m!
Man this video is inspiring! I can feel all the enthusiasm when you get the rock to bench gap, I like your skills but I enjoy even more your aptitude! Greetings from italy!!
Ryan Leech came to Glasgow and sessioned Glasgow Uni back in 2005 (or then abouts) I was working in GEAR Bikes at the time and was speechless when he walked into the shop. As i was working i didnt even get to see him ride.
Loved this. Funny how good you are. Try to ride like leech and you actually look like his style. When you said "I want to 180 off this" I started to cheer your edit. Thanks for the content Ali. Keep up the good work!
Hey Ali Clarkson! Good to see you conquer that Rock! I always understood that Ryan Leech was trying to eliminate UNNECESSARY hops that are done for balance! You seem to be trying to eliminate ALL hops! If it takes a couple of sideways hops to get to the top off that rock after your onto it I think it's ok! Just don't bounce in one spot to balance at any point! Ride ride ride!
Funny thing is, I remember when we used to mess around trying to ride trials we used to see how many hops you could do on the back wheel before you dropped off something. It was kind of a sign that you were in control of your bike rather than just able to backhop. Manifesto style is better though ;)
Man, sick riding and cool bike! I wish someone still made a trials oriented bike with gears and such that made riding it around more convenient. I'll just keep practicing on my hardtail!
@@TimInertiatic fair point. Sam Pilgrim's DJ/trials hybrid build did give me some ideas along those lines. I suppose I should probably be better at trials before I start trying to build a bike for it though 😂
Why dose this
Mans have less than 100k subs when he is a legend
share his clips then. help him get more :)

Even when you were standing beside that rock I was thinking wasn’t that in a really early video 🤙
Really love recently you made videos about unspecific bike for trials..great ali c !

With a shorter stem it would look a lot like a dirt jumper
And a larger chain ring imo
ali is changing his bike more often than me going for a ride :|
Wow! Amazing persistence... Looks like a couple of beautiful days, too.
That was my favourite way I’ve seen you ride so far, I like the lines you took just seemed a little more street like the man himself.

Turn the stem downwards for some XC style points. That will also get your bars where you want them.

Did all that rim-brake honking call a duck down @2:53? The kids in the background were pretty funny!
Really enjoyed that. Felt more progressive than previous couple of videos. More assertive due to the suspension possibly.
Either way, keep it up 🙌🙏
no matter how many tries you need, it never gets boring
Is there any better noise than a squeaky Magura
Well Done Ali. Fair play for the amount of attempts. Some really nice moves too and the bike looks great.
