Over the years I've done just about every type of riding there is from distance riding to DJ/DH, skate park and tough enduro races. Still to this day, competition style trials riding remains the most difficult requiring the highest level of skill to pull off cleanly. Cleaning just one section can make you feel as exhausted as riding an entire DH course. Nice work here Ali. 👍
Maybe something like what Charlie rolls rides; with a super long stem and very high rise bars tilted all the way forward. Front and back wheel control will be much easier
I have a jitsie varial 26" comp bike and ride natural terrain like this in northern california (though not as skilled, yet)...riding every day, trying to be better than i was the day before, i appreciate this content thanks for sharing :)
You’re so hard on yourself man! You’re riding is unreal and you do an awesome job. Glad to see you letting yourself enjoy the victories after a couple of frustrating rides. Loved the comp vids, my favourite of yours is the British champ vid.
landed my first downside footjam tailwhip and I was so stoked I even put a video on my channel. Now watching your riding makes me feel like I need to practice a loooooooot more
I could sit and watch you do this for hours, it's just wonderful. My granddaughter summed it up perfectly, "Wow grandad, that man's dancing with his bike..." 👍
It's a shame the haters want to bring you down, but skills is skills no matter the label and you've got skills by the dump truck load. I don't care what the bike you ride looks like, I love watching you blow my mind with your versatility every time
As an MTBer who has absolutely no chance ever of even getting a bike up onto it's back wheel for a split second like you do, I absolutely enjoy watching the riding you do as I weirdly like slow speed tech despite my lack of good balance, so appreciate watching someone who does have good balance and skill. As to comp bike with or without saddle? Well if you're never sitting down, a saddle to me honestly doesn't make much sense, but if you're going to be cruising around town or trails looking for spots to ride and need to pedal, a saddle absolutely makes sense.
I love watching how the different geometry changes the way you need to maneuver the bike and shift your weight. I love the technical side of trials personally. I rode trails mostly but what appealed to me was the roots, rock gardens, and technical climbs so I started watching Ashton, Hans, and Ryan Leech. Hans and Ashton did a "How to" video way back when and I learned a lot watching that. I then stumbled across Ryan Leech and Mastering The Art of Trials and BOOM, I Was HOOKED! I started molding trials into MTB and it really opened up my riding. Love the channel and the stable of bikes you're building. Keep up the awesome work!
I'm complete rubbish but I can still get a "wow look at that" from little kids LOL. I really enjoy watching you ride the natural stuff and don't mind if the bike doesn't have a seat!
Yeah, that bike made you go beast mode. As someone who only has a comp bike (and likes it) I feel glad that you've finally got to enjoy riding one so much. Looking forward to see more incredible stuff like that!
Your riding looked spectacular on THIS Echo. It's insane that this is your FIRST ride.... Street Trials & Comp Trials are both very skilled disciplines. So few can do both like you.
Never mind the fools calling you a bmx rider. That you can do all the lines and stunts you do on the variety of bikes you use is testament to your talent.
i like both street and comp trials ... and at the end of the day, who cares what people are doing on their bikes ... i'm just happy to see people on bikes having fun
Screw the haters. Who needs them. I think trials on any bike is awesome. The thing that amazes me about you is how quickly you can adapt. You might think you're not be the very best on each bike but you are definitely top notch. Keep up the great riding and entertaining videos.
Now I really want to see how you'd manage to ride a 20" hopping machine! I remember you calling my bike that when I got it 2 years back haha! Sick video Ali!
I am so happy that you finally decided to get yourself on a real comp bike And am really happy to see that you’re loving it, great work!!! Please make allot more with this bike and it would be cool to see you take it to the streets.
not surprised that you did well on this bike. I mean there is a reason why comp riders use these bikes and you obviously have the skills to ride these bikes too.
Pretty much only ride a MTB and your skills/humor are very entertaining to watch! Retro bike, comp trials bike, trialish bike with seat, etc. really doesn't matter to me I always look forward to your videos.
After watching this intro with crashes I was worried but nice to see you feel happy on this bike. :) After riding a Crewkers Cleep in the past few years I rebuilt my older Sky 2 frame with high bar position and front disc brake to practice bunnyhops again after so many years. Around 2009-2013 I built two 24" trials bikes by cutting 26" comp trials frames but to get 357mm long chainstays 1045-1052mm WB, +35mm and later +60mm BB rise also with front disc brakes. I think you could also like those geometries. :) Good luck for the next bikes and videos.
Amazing riding as always, don't listen to the haters. Keep doing what you do! It's so refreshing to see someone in the public eye that's so down to earth and involved with the fans.
Great inspiring riding Ali. Your perseverence and passion really helps motivated other riders like myself to keep setting sub goals toward bigger gosls, be a life long learner and to never give up! Big cheers from New Zealand.
Iv always thought that the fact some TGS riders think that street trials isnt really trials is ridiculous. All that should matter at the end of the day is that your out on a bike having fun. Nice riding Ali 👍
I am really enjoy watching this video, and I am amazed how you ride on the round and slippery tree trunks, which also stagger !! Good luck and take care of yourself!
Mtber 🙋♂️ I really enjoy coming over to this channel now and again to see the trials riding like the stuff in this vid! Keep it up, also congratulations on the pic quality its nice to watch such a clear vid.
I just picked up an echo mark v, havent ridden trials in over a decade, what a bike! I've fallen so many times more than when i was a teen. Nothing like my old monty hydra
Truly stoked to get to watch you having such a fun time on the new ride. Thanks for all the inspiring footage and especially the do it till you ace it dedication. Can't wait to get out and try to put some of this into practice.

Yaay! It's Pinkbike friday fai... wait a minute?! Nice riding (as always)! And this N+1 is going out of hand!
Love this video! Thanks for sharing your fun. Your unvarnished honesty is always appreciated and inspiring -- I always finish them wanting to get out and ride. And in the bike and terrain in this video are closer to what and where I ride, so even more exciting (I definitely can't ride features that big though)!
Mate, you you don't need to do a specific type of trials to prove your skill, it's obvious for all to see. I'm a mountain biker, and I love watching your videos. No-one can dispute the skill and strength that's needed to do what you do. Keep it up 💪
It’s like night and day (your last video to this one). Glad to see you having a blast, it’s what bikes are all about. I am loving the ‘pure trials’ stuff, but honestly just think you’re ace on a bike. Respect.
Ali, your videos are great! There’s no reason why you should doubt yourself. Man, you have the skills. Your modesty is refreshing, but don’t overdo it ;)
this bike looks very simple yet very sharp and seems to work very well. and although i prefer to watch street trials it is fun to watch you doing some of this traditional trial in the nature.
I like the street trials riding that you do. It looks like a lot of fun. It is NOT BMX! Haters will hate. Screw them. Keep doing what you're doing. As long as you're having fun, who cares what people think.
99k! You look great on that bike. I normally prefer street on the Hex but this bike sure seems to suite you very well . You look much better on this bike vs the other comp style bikes. I think the disk front is a must even with my very limited skills it is so much control. The kids on the trail cheering you on were a nice bonus!
Real impressed with the log upwards gap, you made it look so easy! Hope to see more of this soon, perhaps you could bring along 2 bikes and compare them more concretely on specific lines
The red hex miss me ! I love seeing you streettrial riding, and I love seeing you doing pure trial! Continue to do both ! (For being honest, even when you just stay home with your bikes makes cool video !)
At first I was confused on how humanity had come to this point then at 11:42 I realized my pea brain can’t comprehend this level of athleticism. It’s not on the mortal plane I see.

Hi Ali! i am writing you to tanks alot for your vid, always gives you such a charge to get out of workplace and start riding! MTB riders perspective. Yes I enjoy watching this stuff seat or no seat. I found the channel via your bunny hop video and ended up subscribing. In fact I ended up buying a cheap trials bike. So there you go... a convert.
You looked so relaxed doing back wheel stuff on this bike, compared to the other bikes you've tried recently. Would be interesting to see you doing some lines with this bike and the hex back to back and compare.
You look like a different rider on that thing! So sharp and snappy, must be the weight. Shame the Ashton didnt work out for you but that's life. Sod the haters, do what you like. I think your riding has been exceptional on all the retro builds but the Norco was my favourite.
I think you are bit hard on yourself. you have a excellent all round trials skill set. I have a great deal of respect for you ad your patience and persistence
Dude! Riding is riding who cares what your doing as long as you are having fun! Personally this stuff is so far away from what I ride off road or on my bmx I enjoy it for that reason alone. One can learn from watching good riding from any discipline! Keep it all up I say.
I've been looking at the new vesion of this exact frame, the geo and the horizontal dropouts being the major selling point. Never ridden a comp bike tho lol.
I bought a zoo piranha a few years back, was so long and light, definitely pushed my riding on but not as fun for flowing lines and street. Give it a go!
