A big hand to Peter for being a good sport. As a former OTT slicer I feel his pain, but ultimately he needs to fix his path to a great degree, which is a bit beyond the scope of a fitting. Great work as always by Ian and Michael.
Let's be real, this was a follower "lesson" rather than "fitting". But either way, I'm here for it 🙌🏼
You’re almost right. It’s a customer lesson. They never use actual “followers”, only customers or friends.
@@michaelbarker3749true. The giveaways are never really a giveaway lol
Love that you not only got this guy a club that he can be confident in, but sent him on his way with some knowledge that will really help him!
At what point should you just get a lesson instead of a new driver?
Basically, if you see you’re hitting down on driver, you’re going to benefit more from a bit of a lesson than a fitting. Especially if you’re seeing AoA -5 or more. Same with if you have excessive face to path issues. The club can correct a bit, but not extremes.
I was thinking the same thing. TXG did an awesome fitting in this video and I am not taking anything away from that but all this guy needs is a lesson or two and he will be hitting the ball well over 200 yards.
This was a lesson.
Lessons are ALWAYS a good idea. However a fitted driver and a lesson and this guy will love the result.
I’m assuming they would say that they recommend both. For me, getting fit and then being able to check in on that over time combines nicely with working with a coach.
I love these fittings with higher handicaps.
Really enjoyed this video , it just showed he had the incorrect driver to start with but also needed some help in the form of a lesson to get the best out of his game . Being fitted for clubs is a must .
Finally a golfer who drives like me!
Atta boy Peter, this game is always a work in progress. Great job!
I guess my question is, what does the old driver look like after the "lesson"?
In fittings, do you try and retro fit the old club, and if not successful, do you then try new equipment?
Did he hit the Mavrik with the swing changes?
I thought this was great to see what can be done with a slow/normal swing speed. I've seen a number of YT transformations where the guy/women has a swing speed of 97-105 and the worst matched driver. Even I could transform the numbers. Peter had some swing faults, good to see that CC does provide help. I like seeing those with perfect or in-perfect slow swings get maximised.
Kudos to Peter for putting himself out there on camera.
Thank you. Just getting a fitting can be a bit stressful...now add the cameras and a gallery and to say I was quite nervous would be an understatement. This was done a few weeks ago and it has been months since I have been able to swing a club. Ian and Mike were excellent and I most certainly left there knowing I need to take some lessons. I'm sure this was a waste of time for mid to low handicappers but I sincerely hope there are a few out there that could relate to an average golfer who very much enjoys playing and would like to improve.
Great job, Peter. Would be a large bit nerve wracking to be on video. Some work to do to get used to new feels, but potential to unlock a huge gain and make driver more of a weapon. Wishing Peter well on his journey. Hope he gets there. Made gains in my driver dispersion and distance. The huge smile on my face was awesome when I had that first day of things fully clicking. You’ll get there, Peter.
It's a fine line of fitting to someone's swing and giving them the tools to make the most of their final fit; he got a great balance of both. 👍
This makes me think of the podcast Ian did with Andrew Rice. They talked about how a fitter should be 75% fitter and 25% teacher and vice versa for teachers.
A 50-yard carry gain 😮 More than ever convinced fitting is actually more beneficial to higher handicaps than lower.
Perfect speed match and issues that I myself have.
Great job guys! Love these fitting videos!
Respect to peter he could be a mini driver candidate if he hits his 3 wood as far as driver especially with the struggles
Good sport, range work. Next one let’s vet the follower a little. Love to focus on fitting
Fitting and lesson all in one, nice
Great info!!
I'd imagine hitting 200 carry for a player like this has the same thrill as those of us chasing 300. Excellent fit and gains.
follower fittings are my favorite
Great vid, reinforced the old line “it’s not the club.” Us high handicap golfers can’t buy strokes. Gotta put in the work. Promised myself a fitting as a reward for lowering my handicap, hopefully soon.
When the swing improves, the fitting will start to pay some real dividends, just to ensure your clubs aren't working against you.
Got me some super game improvement clubs to start with. Look forward to the day I get fitted to the next level of the game.
What would the swing changes have benefited the mavrik driver. Would have been interesting if they included the mavrik post swing changes to see the performance gains if any
Well done lads. Can see why Peter is more comfortable with his irons.
With the ball being his target (as opposed to the ‘real’ target out there in the fairway) he’ll always come over the top.
Watch his head positions in practice swings when the ball isn’t there…totally different.
would have been interesting to go back to the maverick after the technique changes
Hopefully one day we see a follower putter fitting
Mavrik is from 2020 and is still a great driver.
Perfect for me..
Great self assessment of his game followed up by a sound driver fitting. Should start to see some great on course results, especially if he can incorporate some of the subtle changes in delivery.
It's hard to fit us hackers, huh Ian. LOL
Bit unfair on the Mavrik not to try it again with the new swing tips.
I still game the Mavrik and have found it to be still right up there with my mates ai smoke
One trick I use to not cup my lead hand is to feel my lead thumb stay more horizontal especially on top and dowswing.
When the swing is ingrained, it's so frustrating to try to fix. I struggled so much trying to fix a hook when I first started because everyone was slicing it. Took lessons and a lot of practice to hit it a little straighter
Great video - 50 yards cant be sniffed at.
I'm curious, as a fitter in situations like this, how much you fit the club for the current swing vs., let's say, after he takes a couple of lessons and his path straightens out. Would he, theoretically, in the near future, have to get refit/ readjust his driver if he successfully straightens out his club path? Love the content lads.
Great fittings are teaching the player how to use their equipment. Then you can optimize the equipment to allow the player to maximize the benefits.
This video shows a fitting not just a sizing of equipment.
Hitting driver and 3w the same distance was casually mentioned and Ian said you hear that often. I’d like to see a cause and fix video on this topic. I think it would help several.
Got to fix that over the top
Equipment isn’t the fix all the time, his swing was a bigger contributor to inefficiency in his numbers. I think he could see most if not all the improvement using his current driver and better swing mechanics.
It looks like he’s a little late releasing 2ft away from the ball. You can also move your tee a lil forward.
I would have like to see him after Ian made the changes to his grip/alignment.
Cumon Ian you can’t say “what’s the fitted club doing with what you brought us” and then compare the numbers when the callaway numbers were before your mini lesson. You boasted that he’s up 50 yards but that’s only because you gave him a lesson and told him how to hit driver after he gave you his callaway nunber! 😂😂
The experience is to get a better end result, that’s what the customer got. Wouldn’t you rather get a better fitted club and maybe some good feedback if you were gonna pay for a fitting?
@@ipotato95 that’s not my point. My point is you can’t say the non fitted club is 50 yards worse when the non fitted clubs numbers were before a swing lesson.
It would be good to see him hit his current gamer, one last time.
@@jbweezerdefo. The newer more forgiving products are for sure better for him. But not 50 yards difference if he puts those same swings on both drivers.
Great job Peter, I really enjoyed this follower fit. I found wearing a comfortable motivational t-shirt helps during fits, sometimes with inspirational quotes like “Mikey and Ian Are Stinky Boys” or whatever works for you! 👍
14:06 the poor guy is so confused in this moment. I’ve been there in a lesson before. The message is totally right but our brains think of the swing so differently it is so hard to express the changes in the way someone understands the first few times.
Didn’t look like he was really trying with his standard driver. 84mph and 150 carry!? , he got to 90mph later Int session
“Follower Fitting”? More like “Customer Lesson”
I do love the fitting vids.. I had a great experience at CC.. but.. let’s be honest… does this guy need a $350+ shaft? I’m not seeing the value of a 950.00+ driver.
I agree stock shafts are garbage.. but there are a ton of options in the 80 - 150.00 range that would fit the bill until he can fix his swing.
Accra is $175 US
@@badbilly429 275 when I search them
Hardest thing for me is to do is not swaying at rotation.
My latest fitting had my optimized carry at 305, but we couldn’t find a combo that got me more than 275-280 carry. I think maybe I need to go see Ian??
Im so frustrated that he isnt grasping the concept of how important swing path is lol. Great efforts by Ian as always.
Buddy, did you see his swing and swing path? That's not something you can fix in a fit session. Ian did a fantastic job giving him some minor fixes he can do to "work toward a more in to out path", but in order to actually work on his core swing he'll need lessons.
@shanksgiving Did I criticize Ian? 🤔. And I disagree. I think if this guy would have grasped the concept of the role of swing path he could have cut that out to in from 12 to 6. He just couldn't understand face to path as much as Ian tried. He don't need any crazy lessons. He needs to understand and trust physics.
My man needs to take lessons. Fitters can only do so much
Now go back and collect data with his current with the same swing changes. No SHIT it's a sizeable difference compared to the start, he gained around 8 mph club speed on some shots. If you were looking to see the actual benefits of current driver and shaft tech you would have made the swing change prior to testing anything. Great video though.
No magical fitting and $600 plus driver is going to help.. This dude needed lessons and practice.
clear example of "Indian" issue.
Peter needs serious lessons. I betcha his swing will have rubber band syndrome; going back to his old swing.
This should be called returning customers and friends fitting instead of follower fitting as they’ve only done these videos with customers or friends and not actual followers. Maybe the first one? But there’s a distinct pattern of who gets to do these fittings, and it isn’t followers like you or me.
I like the follower fittings, not so much “lessons” from non-teaching pros. I know it’s tough with high cappers as they have massive swing flaws, but likely the reason many don’t feel they are good enough to get fit.
first?
No amount of money spent on equipment is going to resolve a fundamentally flawed golf swing.
This is the worst fitting I’ve ever seen. Try this put a phone book between your legs, close one eye, then fold one ear and tuck it under your hat. Perfect lol it’s not TXGs fault. This guy is swinging. Just totally sucks. I don’t think you can fit him for a club today.
his swing is totally jacked
The club doesnt change a bad swing.......its the indian not the arrow!!!!
