    I have the G430 SFT and couldn’t imagine not having it now. As a former baseball player I naturally slice and now I hit it straight. I agree wish they would make a 9 degree

    I generally have the same issue as Mike does, though a little more push to the right. This game me some great insight for when I can get fit that is not brand specific. Thanks for the great info as usual.

    What do you have for the dreaded two-way miss? My miss is hook left or block right.
    Stealth+ 10.5 (swapped weights front to back, heavier back) neutral sleeve adjustment
    I'm trying a Newton 4 dot shaft right now. Distance and dispersion has improved a little.
    I hook my Stealth+ 3W as well. Diamana TB 70S. When I square it, OMG! Outstanding! But, I'm wearing out the toe for the most part. I've hit some running hooks that have been in the 265-270 range. That's unrealistic for a 62 y/o with a wonky back. It gets so much right to left spin it's almost like topspin! 😂

    I have a similar issue to Mikey as far as leaving the face open 3 to 4 degrees except my swing path is slightly in to out 1.5 degrees give or take. Ian has the ideal swing path . Is the big miss left caused by flipping the wrists or is it a grip related issue. I'd love to see more on this subject.

    I know it's not out yet, but do you think a similar "anti-slice" goal will be achievable with the new Ping G430 10k? They are going to release that in a 9 degree head.

    I have a Taylormade Burner Superfast TP 10.5 degree with the expensive S-Flex shaft in those days. Nice trajectory and anti-hook with the weight port in the toe and 1 degree open face. Old driver, but as long as any I've hit. You need to be able to close on impact or it goes dead left for a lefty. Anti hook and then some. Can produce a slight draw.

      Being a clubfitter myself for a long time, you will deal with customers, who just want to play golf and abandoned lessons years ago. They won’t change their swing, so you as a fitter take over and do the damage control. Sometimes, it’s an SFT doing the trick, next time it’s a Tripple Diamond. Whatever gets the player to be more confident and swing without fear.

    • @healthygolfer
      @healthygolfer 10 місяців тому

      My observation was specific to those who are far less competent than those who were demonstrating that they wanted to tweak a minor left/right dispersion, ball flight, spin rate, etc.. Yes, a tweak to a driver for these issues are a reasonable solution. However, significant left/right dispersions can’t be mitigated by the best club fitter on the planet. A better solution would be that the fitter recommend a do-over AFTER a lesson or two. If I missed the fitter recommending that…Oops! I also understand that some clients are so stubborn that they are committed to the fitting process no matter what; even after listening to the advice of a responsible fitter who would recommend the aforementioned.

    I grabbed a 425SFT head last year, and I was immediately playing down the left side of the fairway. Which for someone who always played down the right, was a nice change. I was able to start dialing down loft, opening up the face angle, and have switched over to the flat lie angle setting. I now start just a touch right, and it draws back. As mentioned, I wish they had a 9* head, as that would be perfect for me.

    I requested this word for word on most recent “you request it,we test it” so pretending this was just for me. Question still stands. 10.5 SFT? Or 9° Max, weight in heel, face shut work on swing and have a more versatile driver to grow into.

    I’ve never had problems with my driver dead straight if it was off target my aim was the problem. I went to club champion to get a new driver and now I can’t hit it straight. On the simulator the driver I got was straight and going 300 yards. On the course I slice it bad. Every once in a while I hit it well but mostly sliced right.
    The guy put a stiffer heavier shaft on the driver telling me it would help. It didn’t help I’m never getting fitted again at club champion.

    I was originally fit into a triple diamond to stop the lefts. Issue I have is similar to Ian's - the thing does not want to spin enough if hitting a draw. If I hit one with enough spin it's a ball that starts right and stays right. If it's turning over (which is my natural shot) it tends to fall out of the sky.

    $600 for a new fitted club vs 12 30 min driver lessons to fix the path that costs $50/lesson. I would take the latter then invest in a club that works for the fixed swing which most likely will not be an anti slice/draw driver that promotes the bad swing.

    Serious question for mikey, if you have struggled with a fade for soo long, why do you not game a draw bias 9° driver ? Surely being a club fitter of your calibre, a draw driver would be a no brainer ?

    • @mishaelvillalvazo6055
      @mishaelvillalvazo6055 10 місяців тому +3

      Draw bias drivers add a ton of spin, might not be a viable option. There may be a couple of heads that work but ego does crazy things to humans😂

      @@mishaelvillalvazo6055those last few words are key talking about ego. Someone who struggles with fades/slices should not be in a TSR3 8° which I believe is what he was playing. The 8° and low spin head are counterintuitive to what he’s trying to accomplish. The lower loft and lower spin are going to make that ball curve so much more. It’s spinning high and coming out high because the club face is open, that’s all

    • @marinmb44
      @marinmb44 10 місяців тому +2

      @@lutaayawamala perspective maybe? The lower the backspin a driver offers, the more sidespin can take over the spin profile and cause the ball to curve left and right. If backspin is more prominent, sidespin doesn’t take over as quickly.

    • @mishaelvillalvazo6055
      @mishaelvillalvazo6055 10 місяців тому

      @@lutaayawamala previous reply is correct. Lower spin heads provide less BACKSPIN, while side spin is probably the same or even more. That’s why these drivers are described as “workable”.

      @shanevictorpech 10 місяців тому

      They can (and I imagine they did) but doing so also changes the lie and face angles. There's only so much you can do with the adjustment sleeve, sometimes you just need the metal (or carbon) itself to be set at a different loft.

    Don't get me wrong I love golf and all things golf but I do think over recent years there has been too much mumbo jumbo thrown at us to the point where it becomes hard to just go out and enjoy the game. For me I still think most of it comes down to confidence and liking the club you have in your hand. What did we all do before fitting was a thing and adjustable drivers/clubs were on the market? I know I certainly played a lot better because the game was much simpler and you concentrated more on playing the shot rather than worrying about spin or dynamic loft or what was that tip the guy on UA-cam said? There's no doubt you guys are very good at what you do but I do think it can be to the detriment of golfers also with too much information and too many thoughts instead of just enjoying the game for what it is. Long time subscriber btw but just starting to change my thoughts and attitude towards the game and how I personally go about it ⛳🏌️👍🏼

    • @jimvoelz7444
      @jimvoelz7444 10 місяців тому

      Your comments are interesting. Seems like all this analysis can over complicate things. No doubt. However, I’m just getting back into golf in a serious manner after taking 20 years off after I pivoted to fencing as my main sport. What really intrigues me now is I can do individual practice sessions and get immediate feedback from a launch monitor. As an example, years ago on the driving range hitting buckets of balls I really struggled discerning if the slice/hook was from club path or club face angle. I really struggled with body awareness to figure that out. Took lessons which helped but after the lessons fell back into old habit patterns. Now after a lesson I can combine launch monitor with simulator to repeat some of the actions from the lesson and check club path against face angle and make an adjustment on my next shot. That’s just one example. There is probably a middle way between over analysis and being too much in your head versus connecting with your body and letting things flow. Probably each individual needs to find the sweet spot. Sounds like you found yours which is great!
