I own an Excalibur with open sights. Most of my shots were in the X ring but not as consistent as I wanted. I purchased custom made arrows from Borkholder Archery. Their shafts are balanced. Now very shot actually hits the X. It is so accurate that I must shoot 5-spot targets to avoid destroying the arrows. Excalibur is very simple, and with Borkholder arrows the accuracy is almost unbelievable.

the simplicity of the excalibur settled it all for me. i can do EVERYTHING myself with no special equipment-standard tools and a ratchet strap and i can do it all.
the deer i have killed with it never even had time to react- and i have one of the slower ones 340TD. i think too many people get hung up on speed numbers. i actually run a heavier bolt and that absorbs a lot of the shock and saves the limbs. and like i said, the bolt is through the deer before they have time to react....so any more speed would be wasted.

I definitely agree about speed being overemphasized. 300-350 and above is plenty.

I just bought the same Excalibur crossbow for my daughter two weeks ago, and shoot at the same range as you guys

@@badbloodoutdoors1874 haven’t even shot it or sighted in yet, she’s turning 9 figure it’s probably the best for her to load the crossbow to pass bow test next year so bought it. Silly rule 10 year olds don’t hunt alone so usually their parent is loading the crossbow for them.

This is coming from a Wicked Ridge (owned and made by 10 Point) owner. I absolutely love my 2010 Wicked Ridge Invader I won at a Deer Classic raffle. Before you buy a Ten Point I strongly suggest you look into 10 Points CS rep. Yes 10 Point makes excellent VERY fast crossbows and Wicked Ridge are very hard to beat excellent value for the money crossbows. But I would advise you look into 10 Points CS rep.
No one in the crossbow manufacturing industry has a better reputation for great CS than Excalibur.
To me a crossbow companies CS rep is more important than the speed of their crossbows.
Lastly a Excalibur has FAR less to break or fail on it and has no cams and only one VERY easy to replace bow string and unlike compound cam powered crossbows that need a bow vice to work on or change strings and YOU WILL have to change strings on all crossbows, ,you need NO bow vice to change the single string on a Excalibur or to work on it. Also Excalibur has the best made mot reliable and durable limbs on any Crossbow.

I agree 💯%. I also bought a Wicked Ridge Invader 400 as my second crossbow. I have since moved to Excalibur . In the last couple years I have aquired 7 Excalibur's, everything from the old wide limb Exomax & Equinox, Micro Mag 340TD, Matrix 355 & Matrix 380, to the Matrix Bulldog 380, & Matrix Bulldog 400. I plan on buying a used Bulldog 440 as my next Excalibur. I haven't had any issues with any of my Excalibur's.

That’s probably unnecessary. But both of the crossbows in this video are very good so I can understand the confusion.

The brace hight on the Excalibur looks wrong for what I can see if so fix it by twisting the string and it will be faster and more accurate

Well definitely not here to talk bad about the excalibur bows.
I can only speak about my 10 point stealth ss it's coming up on 10 yrs old now , its slow compared to todays standards (345 fps),
I have hunted with it steady since I bought it back in 2014, have taken numerous deer, one of by biggest bucks to date, multiple hogs, and several turkey.
And have never had a single issue with it ever .
Have hunted in sub freezing temps , no problem.
Have only needed to change the string 1 time , I keep the bow clean wax the string, all is well..
Having said that, I sure like the excalibur bows, I may have to have one.

  • @deerhunter3014

My Assassin crank takes 11 revolutions of the crank to fully cock it. Your video showed the Ten Point took TWENTY EIGHT LOUD revolutions. NO THANK YOU.
One other benefit of changing your own strings with Excalibur's is that when my serving starts to wear, and every high speed crossbow serving string WILL wear, is that I can take the string off myself, and I FLIP THE STRING OVER on re-installation, so I use the formerly topside unworn part of the serving, and put that side DOWN on the shooting rail, therefore doubling the string life. Try THAT with a cam crossbow!
Yes these are two different price point crossbows, and the best one is the one that gets your deer down quickly. I'm sure the budget minded hunter could to well with many cheaper units, but I sure do love my Excalibur!

This is exactly why I don't own any crossbows with cams- I'm tired of cable wear and not having a press to change the s&c out. Excalibur's are remarkable.

I have a Excalibur Matrix 405 shot dozens of Deer ! I have had limbs replaced but for the money 12 yrs ago it still is one of the cheapest xbow with life time warranty and Excalibur stands behind their products! A new string every 3 yrs is all I had to buy!

Excalibur is a great company with an awesome warranty their bows will brake my bow broke while elk hunting 2021 Arizona unit 9 it ended what most likely was a once in a lifetime opportunity the sad part is the same bow broke 8 months before same problem Excalibur repaired it free of charge . The bow is hanging on my wall still broken still covered in grand canyon dust and their it will stay.

Sorry to hear that, all crossbows will break. If you would’ve bought a spare set of limbs, you could’ve been back up and running in a short time with just a couple Allen wrenches.

For FIELD POINT shooting and only field points, please by all means take a good sized 24" square very stout cardboard box stuff it absolutely full of rags and make yourself a great cheap FP archery target that will stop any bolt or arrow and can be removed with using only two fingers.
I have an awesome DIY 24"Wx30"HX24"D broadhead target made from1/2"x24"x24" weight mats very tightly compressed between 24" sheets of plywood , 1-5/8" Unistrut and four 500lb ratchet straps. Great for BHs God help you removing crossbow bolts.
Like to update my above post.
FORGET building your own rag box. My Excalibur Assassin Extreme 400 at 20 yards the arrows were penetratingly and disappearing 100% into my DIY rag box AND my DIY layered foam target. Only thing that stopped my arrows under 40 yards was a commercial bag target I bought a 28x28 delta McKenzie Speed bag from Cabela's worked awesome on FPs but can not be shot with FBBH. From what I am reading a box filled with Vigoro rubber landscaping mulch is the ticket for FBBH.

I had a ten point , the limb cracked. They made it right. In ONE year the new limbs cracked. They said my original warranty was up. They couldn't help me. NO MORE TEN POINT . I know of M A N Y others that have had limbs crack.

I haven't had that issue, but I can't say I blame you for being put off by your negative experience. The only limb cracking issue I know is that Tyler (biggest dude on our channel) had a Barrett that cracked after a few years.
