  • We all get together at the archery range and try out each other's crossbows. The focus is on accuracy, but we talk about other factors as well. Keep in mind that these crossbows haven't been touched since last year...you'll understand when you watch the video.

    I finally purchased a chronograph to help sight my crossbows in. I have 4 different ones. I was shocked to see how over-rated the advertised FPS are. For instance- CP 425 Patriot shoots at 388 FPS with the factory bolt. CP 415 Amped shoots 366 FPS and my KI 405 Boss shoots 355 FPS. That's way less FPS then what they're advertised to shoot

    I bought a Barnett Whitetail STR off of Amazon 3 years ago. Its 375 FPS so it get awesome penetration, easy to cock manually and is a nail driver accurate. I’m sighted in at 25 yds currently with 25 yd holdovers at each hash on the reticle. I paid $187 for it, PRE pandemic mind you, same bow is now $375!

    Good Job on the video, but man was it painful watching him try to cock that little bow. I was cringed a little watching the limbs lay on a pillow early in the video during shooting, that'll definitely throw off the shot. Nobody died, everyone had fun. Success!

    The more expensive bows will have features and performance attributes that less expensive bows may not. They will also come without defects that less expensive bows sometimes do. You can drive a Toyota or Ferrari.
    Still, you don’t have to spend a pile to be a successful xbow hunter.

    What is a good beginner crossbow that can comfortably take down a deer? Under or just over $1000

    • @badbloodoutdoors1874
      @badbloodoutdoors1874  7 місяців тому +2

      The Tenpoint Titan M1 can be gotten for under $1000. I’ve shot a number of deer in the 3 years that I’ve had it and the only problem I had was due to user error (I made a video about it). The excaliburs are a bit pricier (also made a video about this). You can get a crossbow that’ll kill a deer for even cheaper, but generally you get what you pay for regarding reliability and overall quality of construction. Either way Good Luck!!!

      Much better to have the stock sit up against something immovable, these are designed for the forces to go through the stock. At least have the same person be holding them, as a super fast bow will push someone back more than a weaker one, which will affect the real world speeds

I’ve always bow hunted but set up a bunch of 2 man stands when he started hunting. So I bought myself a 250$ killer instinct. I’ve shot at 12 with it and killed 12.
