  • "Affordable" varies from one crossbow hunter to another but these are definitely some lower price crossbows from TenPoint. TenPoint offers a few more crossbows for 2024 and we look at them here. Our next video will start to look at even more affordable models from other manufacturers going forward.
I am not sponsored by anyone! But I do share what I like and what I don't like. And I like a good coupon code to save a few bucks as much as you do (see below). My "perfect" crossbow setup these days includes:
Killer Instinct SWAT X1 (starting 2023)
Burris Oracle X Scope (since 2022)
Dragon Claw arrows from Wyvern Creations (good outfit, been buying different gear there for years, these arrows are great in the SWAT)
All of our crossbows use the following, 100% of time:
Burt Coyote Lumenoks (since 2012 or so) (save 10% on lumenok.com with coupon code BUNJIE )
Swhacker #251 3" cutting diameter crossbow broadheads (for our last 20 or 30 deer) (save 10% off select broadheads including this "perfect" model using coupon code BUNJIE2324 on their website: swhacker.com/d... )
Bunjie (The Original Bunjie, The O.B.) is my 2010 Excalibur Axiom that got me hooked on crossbow hunting. This was my "one gun" for more than a decade and Bunjie's reliability is the reason I ONLY hunt with a crossbow. After killing dozens of deer, hogs, squirrels, woodchucks, and even a bear, Bunjie is now semi-retired, but still gets out every year and even killed two deer 2023--and a woodchuck at 81 yards!
Bunjie and I have written two books: The Death by Bunjie Crossbow Method ( amzn.to/3zJbAI0 ) and The Death by Bunjie Crossbow Story ( amzn.to/2Peq4aC ), both available on Amazon.com with those links.
Check out the Gear Page on our website, deathbybunjie.com. Again, I am not sponsored by anyone! But you can see what gear I like and don't like on that site. And if you buy from Amazon.com using one of those links, Death by Bunjie receives a small referral fee and you DO NOT pay more! How cool is that?
Check out the Death by Bunjie podcast, Talking with Bunjie! It's available on deathbybunjie.com or on the podcast app of your choice.
    Facebook much? deathbybunjie
Bunjie, Jr., is my daughter Genevieve's crossbow, an Excalibur Micro Suppressor 355. This crossbow was also a much appreciated gift from a Friend of Bunjie, and it changed Death by Bunjie forever by inspiring Genevieve to become a part of our story as a second-generation crossbow hunter, and it also convinced me there is a benefit to a newer, faster crossbow back in 2020 when I began the Quest for a Successor to Bunjie. Enter Bunjie III (or Bunjie '21, Bunjie 3.0, The Slick Black Cadillac of Crossbows), a 2021 Scorpyd Deathstalker 420, the result of trying various models and looking at dozens of them online for characteristics I liked. It is, in fact, a gift from a Friend of Bunjie, which goes to show how important Friends of Bunjie are to this channel and what an impact they can have. Bunjie III is a testament to modern crossbows, producing over .7 slugs of momentum and almost 140 ft-lbs of kinetic energy with stock arrows--at around 400 fps! This crossbow helped expand the Kingdom fo Bunjie by introducing me to compound crossbows and showing me they're nothing to be feared, and also helped me get my first deer on public ground. This crossbow also inspired the "Rule of 400" that I talk about from time to time: a crossbow that can shoot a 400 grain arrow at 400 feet per second is the definition of a modern crossbow--producing over .7 slugs of momentum and over 140 foot pounds of kinetic energy, the envy of the archery world.
Again, I am not sponsored by these companies. I am sponsored by Friends of Bunjie! (I'm not asking for gifts whatsoever--please don't feel like you should send me stuff! But I do appreciate the support I've received over the years! I'm just trying to express my appreciation for that.)
This channel is the result of combining my interest in filming and hunting...and music, too! The soundtrack for this channel is provided by my band, Yankee Militia. The albums "Live Free or Kill" and "Zombies Gotta Eat, Too!" are available on Amazon.com and elsewhere. A third album is in the works.
If you've read this far, then there is only one thing left to say:
    All Hail Bunjie!

Great job on this video review Rich! I’m very happy with TenPoint and I think that their 2nd label Wicked Ridge is their best kept secret! My M-370 probably only shoots around 350 FPS, but it’s dropped six deer this season! Their lighted nocks are an issue but for $499 at Bass Pro Shops, this is a features rich bargain crossbow! Remember they used to advertise “ Speed thrills but accuracy thrills”!!

I truly love ten points acudraw system I have a ten point turbo xlt 2 and I fucking loveeeeee the draw system and it's so pinpoint accurate. I'm shopping for a second crossbow right now and I'm having a hard time convincing myself to buy ANYTHING but tenppoint. Mines just getting older and outdated wanting something over 400 fps now.

Great content and video. I have owned a ten point that was over 1500 dollars and also a ten point wickedridge that was in 700- 800 dollar range and Horton's crossbows and parkers models. For the money and performance and what u get from killer instinct u can't beat them. I currently own the fierce 405 bc and its quality and performance equals any of the more expensive brands and models I have owned and shot. Crossbows are getting like back when I shot compounds in the 90s and 90s of everything is revolving around speed. Speed is not what kills. It's the accuracy and proficiency of ur equipment and the shooter behind the trigger. The faster u go the more variables that u have to overcome to achieve pinpoint accuracy. The most accurate crossbow I used to shoot was under 300 fps. It was no longer in production and parts were no longer available so I had to replace it. What for me is important in looking for a new crossbow is a company that backs their products up with a lifetime warranty and that is why I now shoot the killer instinct brand. I have been researching the killer instinct model 430 and when it's time for me to replace my current crossbow I may go with that after it's been proven to be a tried and true model. Thanks for the great videos and info

I agree with you 100%, some great points here but I'll also point out that of all the Killer Instinct models you are looking at the fastest one haha. Speed does have advantages. That 430 is proof that you can have both speed and accuracy.

I bought a Bruin Ambush 425 with a speed ring scope and crank. Nothing fancy. Just a real solid bow. Accurate and very hard-hitting bow. My budget does allow me to purchase a expensive bow, but more expensive won't make the meat taste any better.

Hello Mr Bungie! Enjoyed this video & always enjoy reading your insights on new crossbows offerings. This video was honest & opinionated at the same time in which I have ZERO problems with. Everyone has their opinions & I respect those views although I may or may not agree with them. Tenpoint’s 2024 offerings are vast & to me, exciting. The models you mentioned on this video has their following. The new Venom X is going to be a great seller for Tenpoint as their ACU slide, cocking, de-cocking system I feel is the best on the market. Notice the terminology “I feel” which is my own opinionated view. But the Venom X model does offer the aluminum rail which is almost indestructible. Heavier limb thickness is also a plus which has to viewed “in person” to see the difference. The other factor is they have “beefed up” the string & cables. I have seen & shot this model in person & feel as though Tenpoint has hit a MAJOR home run with this Crossbow. But may I also add that Wicked Ridge by Tenpoint has some amazing new offerings that are extremely budget friendly. Their new 2024 Commander M1 is a testament to that fact. Maybe you can do a video on that one at your convenience. But if I may, there may be cheaper crossbows out there as you have pointed out selling at Walmart that one can have a rather inexpensive Crossbow that is capable of doing the job at hand… BUT… BUT… they are all made overseas & their warranty is non desirable to say the least. When purchasing a Wicked Ridge by Tenpoint or a Tenpoint model one IS getting a Crossbow that is built right.. right here in the USA 🇺🇸 and that Sir has to be a HUGE factor for anyone spending their hard earned money. I applaud (as always) your honest views & by all means, everyone has the right to choose their style, make, & design of a Crossbow. I hold no ill will on an individual choosing how & what to spend their money on. That’s why we live in the GREATEST Country on Planet Earth because we as Americans do have that Freedom of choice. Keep making these videos as I enjoy watching. And I think it’s might good for two Crossbow enthusiasts such as you & I to come together & agree & also disagree. Isn’t that the beauty of our Freedom? I believe you will agree with that!!!!

I really like some of the innovations they have added this year but i really dont want to cross into the 3-4k range on a crossbow. But, if I, or anyone else for that matter, is willing to wait, you usually buy thes front line bows next year for around half price. I do believe though, that some of these bows are engineering marvels.

I had a Ten Point. great cross bow. killed a few deer with it . However . The limbs started to crack. I notified Ten Point and they were very willing to help me . I sent the Bow in ( they paid ) . They replaced my limbs and I was on my way. 10 months later , I noticed more cracks in my new limbs. I notified Ten Point. THIS time I got the political run around. They would NOT repair my bow because " The original warranty was up. I said but the limbs are not even a year old. Bottom line . They would not fix my bow. So I replaced The bow , and it was NOT a Ten Point..

Hello Rich, great video as usual! I have been hunting with an older Stealth FX4 since 2017. I really like the crossbow and have taken many deer with it. However, I had a limb break a couple of years ago. Tenpoint paid to have it repaired, no problems. I started using heavier arrows and broadheads, and all is well! The Seige and Venom are looking attractive for the money, and I could even look into adding the Burris range finder scope. I think I would go for the sold green model. I don't really care for the use of white in camo.
How have your Burris scopes been holding up? I know you had some problems there for a while; is there a particular model that is better?

The reason they don't want your foot in the stirrup is that there is a sled that pulls the string back. If something broke during cocking, the sled could "shoot" into your foot causing injury. It's a safety issue.

I loved parker because they had lifetime warranty and was based in my home state of good ol Virginia but unfortunately they went out of business so I'm wanting a new x bow this year and wow whats happening lol first and foremost the prices are crazy 4 grand for a x bow not happening lol, then I been looking and half them don't have a foot stirrup and that's crazy even if they have a hand crank you still need to sturdy the x bow and what about the broadhead it protects it .. i kinda think do these guys that design these new x Bows even hunt because I'm starting to wonder.. 😂 lol.. I would like to find a American made x Bow for say a grand or under that's narrow light and shoots near 400 feet per second and oh yeah that has a foot stirrup 😂.. is this to much to ask for lol..

The bow hanger can be swapped for a bigger stirrup. Ten points scopes are very nice. My Viper S400 has a speed ring scope and its very accurate and clear and gathers light great and that's important because usually a big buck will show up after dusk. I've shot 10 deer in the few years I've owned my Viper S400, before that i had the wicked Ridge and it was nice but when they came out with the crank that you you could un cock i had to have it. I hunt A Lot !!! And shooting your bow off at lunch and at dark i tore up so many decocking arrows it wasn't funny by hitting a rock you couldn't see or frozen ground. I love the crank and its a very good xbow. It cost $1700 when I bought it but my compound bows cost $1300 bare so not much difference.

Speaking of every budget. I finally got a crossbow. Saw the PSE Coalition Frontier at Rogers sporting goods in KC for $199 with scope, cocking cable, bolts, quiver. They set it up and sighted it in and chronoed it in for me and let me shoot it a little bit. Extra package of bolts, altogether less than $250 out the door. It is not as powerful as a ten point but every bit as powerful as my compound and i shoot the fastest heaviest compound I could buy and have a 30.6” draw. So it is enough.
I appreciate you. You set a good example for dads out here, set your ego aside and use a crossbow. Helps a lot to get the kids out there. It’s not loud, no recoil, no big learning curve.
Now that I have this thing I am gonna use it too. It’s going to be awesome.
    I appreciate you.

with what you call barrel are what i would call nothing more than guides could make some issues with arrow not have a straight flight same as one can get with arrow not properly aligned on bows, i dont know how much this can affect its flight and accuracy, i also find it sorta peculiar how they can extort $1500 extra just to adding 4" of power stroke when reversing the limbs on the 515.
something that puzzles me when huntng in the woods how far can you really shoot with al the branches and trees, in open field i understand you can shoort further. in the woods animals have issues seeing you i guess they smell before they see, in fileds they can see futher. so why the eagerness to shoot 50-70m in the woods when you can barely see more than 20-35m in green season.

Scopes and reticles crammed all in one spot just about. Get the Oracle ? Yup that's a fix. Also think a red dot sighted in at 30 yards and Kentucky windage, another fix for busy scope issue. That will take a lot of range time but is for sure a solution in those confident enough to do it.

Good video again Rich! That Venom X looks like a great value for a bow with the improved accuslide. The way I understand it is the Venom and Siege 425 both have a true anti-dry fire unlike prior accuslide bows. Pretty cool. Venom is $999 at Wyverns. 👍
