Thanks, this was very useful. My Grandson's gator already had the 12Ah battery, so the blue carrier would fit that fine. But, when I took the blue carrier off I discovered the positive connector was not connected. So, I didn't even need a Mighty Max replacement. In the process I was very careful, but broke the ear off in taking the blue off. Found among my stock of stuff a perfect fit automotive trim pin that connected me fine.
Just ordered a 12v from your link. Crossing my fingers it works.
Just fixed a battery thanks to this video!
This video was incredibly useful! Thank you
This was helpful, I specifically was looking for what that silver box is on the neg terminal. THANK YOU!
Thanks for the video. I found it very helpful. I just bought a mini max battery and smart charger.
Love your work. Thank so much.
Awesome video! So helpful. Thank you so much.
Very helpful! Thanks
15 bucks at the local parts store and we upgraded to the big battery... You made a happy 6 year old today. Thank you!
Link to battery?
What parts store?
@@Here-2-Learn local independent parts store here in texas. Man said it was a wheelchair battery.
Any recommendations for another smart charger? The link above doesn’t seem to be available anymore.
Can you give a link to the battery and charger you used? Great video BYW
I have 4 peg perego gaucho for my childs and their friends. I have replaced the batteries but hadnt see your video so instead of taking out the battery cables i just cut them off. Do you know what kind of cables, connectors (yea new ones, male female) and a fuse i will need for a 12v gaucho rock in?
Great video! My battery is still new but it will come in handy in some months. I'd like to see an easy way to install a soft start on a peg perego, all solutions I've found are too complicated or too expensive.
The east coast powerups kit is about as easy as it gets to get variable speed. Keep that battery happy with a smart charger.
Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure I want to install a 135 bucks ESC control on a 200 bucks car :) furthermore it is connected to pedal, but I'm still using remote since my baby is 18 months old and not able to drive alone yet. I'll keep on searching.
I think my tank from Walmart is the same except it’s 2 batteries. I’m still new to all this but I have so many power wheels and ride on toys instead of buying the $70 batteries I need to learn all this
This was an excellent video.. now I feel confident that I can test and replace to an upgraded battery… my grandson will be excited he will be able to ride for a longer period..
Oh!! I am assuming that the upgraded battery can be purchased from Amazon..
Thanks again…
Yes sir, link is in the video description
Can you give some advice on doing my sons (Polaris)
1-30-2024 SUPER VIDEO FULL OF INFORMATION 👍🏻🇺🇸
Update: Went to my local battery warehouse and bought 2) 12ah replacement batteries costing $39.95 each
and returned my old batteries , + tax = $87.85
When reconnecting to RED connector, I had to crimp as you instructed, but also bend that center tab of connector down, so it would engage with spades HOLE. Then use my needle nose pliers to lock connector to spade so as they wouldn’t pull apart .👍🏻 2-9-2024 🇺🇸
Will 🫵🏻 provide a video on how to connect that 2ah battery charger without taking the cover off⁉️ thanks
Hey! I have a dynacraft Hello kitty suv model 8801-60. I replaced the batteries and this lights now come on but the car still isn’t wanting to move. I’m pretty sure that the switches are working! What can I do or check and how?
Can you link the adapter so i could use my battery tender.
what if we refill the batteries with distilled water and distilled vinegar for each compartment? that should do it too, shouldn't it?
Can you share the details on how I can do this with a 24v peg perego battery?
I'm so frustrated.. my in-laws bought my son a John Deere 6V which is useless on the slightest grade.. anyway he doesn't get more than 20 minutes or if it.. just bought it two months ago and it was like this from the beginning. I called Peg Perego and they told me instead of charging it until the light went from amber to green (3-4 hours) i need to leave it on 18 hours every time. Well it's even worse now. I'm wondering if I can use my Noco Genius G3500 in 6V mode to charge it/repair it?? Any ideas?
I just replaced my battery and as soon as I push the pedal the breaker on the battery trips. any suggstions?
The Amazon links are not the exact same size battery as the one that came in the John Deere gator unit.
Where do you find the female disconnects for a broken lead? I can only find a .250 size but the lead needs the next size up. For some reason I am having trouble finding the right size
1/4 " should be more than wide enough. Not sure I understand your question.
Hi I am unable to charge the deere truck recently though I kept it linked to the power for two days.will you pls advise
Use volt meter to read the voltage of the battery.
Hey, my son has an i8 I tried to charge it overnight but I got nothing.. do you have any advice for this particular ride on ?
Common for battery to become damaged with stock charger. Need new battery and I would invest in a smart charger. We have several videos discussing options
Thanks again for this great video. Question 1: When replacing the battery. I was told to use gel to be able to lay them flat if need be when getting bigger batteries with more ah so they can fit under the 2 seats...they seem to have lots of advantages but have less power at times. What do you usually do. Question 2. The smart charger says lead acid battery on it. It looks like it's charging just fine the gel lead acid battery. I suppose it's OK to keep using it... do u agree?
Can lay any sla battery on it's side.
@@CustomKidzCars thank you. I am ordering 6 new batteries. 12v 20ah agm is fine right? Seems like agm has safety advantages
Pretty much dummy proof. Very safe chemistry compared to lithium
@@CustomKidzCars thank you. Going for that for the next batch then.
I have a 12v Peg Perego Razor. Are there any easy motor swap upgrades? I upgraded to 18 volt and the factory motors aren't happy. Getting hot
Any faster motor will cause the plastic first gear to melt. They are engineered for 5 mph and 18 volts is about the reliable limit. Next step is an esc for variable speed.
I would also check to make sure you don't have a bent axle or other issue that is causing resistance. This will cause motors to work harder to spin and heat up.
To check whether the car was working, can I connect the charger output directly to the input of the car instead of the battery? Just to check if it is making the engine run? If that works then I can confidently order a battery
No, charger only puts out around 1 amp. Motors draw around 30 amps
@@CustomKidzCars so the car will not run if I connect it to the charger directly? ALso is the amazon local battery returnable? My wories are what if I buy it and then find out the problem is with the car?
Hello .. can you tell me what has to be done with plug if you opt for the smart charger? We have a ride on tractor that we'd like to order the smart charger for (to save the battery) but haven't figured out how to connect it with the existing plug.
It has an adapter that matches your existing plug.
@@CustomKidzCars Thank you for your reply. Do you recommend the CR6 or CR1 for a ride on Peg Perrago John Deer ride on tractor?
They are both the same, one comes with 3 plugs for various brands compared to 2 plugs. 3 amps of charging is too much for battery under 12ah is probably the comment I made so the battery charger shut off because of the over 20% rule
Will a CR1 charger work? i cant find an CR6
Sure will, they are the same unit but they charge more money because of the extra adapters. Thanks for watching
Can I please ask you a question. I got a gaucho. I replaced the battery with a new one (gaucho was working fine but shortly). I placed the 2x12 volts in there only to realize that one battery end was lose. Reconnected the wire as my son was pressing the pedal in the ride and the battery connector was connected..... saw a spark .... ride is not working anymore....battery still ok IMO. when I press pedal I hear a long beep and 2 lights go on red and green. Could have I fried something such as the control board? Everything looks fine though....where should I start looking.
Don't recall if there is fuses or a resettable breaker. Very hard model to diagnose with all the gizmos and even the brake pedal switch could cause it to not move.
@@CustomKidzCars thank you. I think it is the break switch. Indeed the 2 lights (red and green) have break indicated next to it. I found that the screw holding the break mechanism was gone so that the push button in the break mechanism wasn't pushed. I kept the button pushed in manually but the tires still don't move.... both motors work fine.... any idea welcome. Thank you so much for your videos. Gonna become a moder thanks to you (already got the smart chargers that work very well)
@@CustomKidzCars so sorry to bother you again but I have no one else to ask. Again....tested everything and all looks fine. Got that 2 lights indicating a break issue. Is there a way to bypass this?. Pushing in the button that checks break status or releasing it during start up (initial pedal.press) doesn't change anything.... I just don't get this.
In all honesty I just rip out the stock system and wire up scooter esc to the stock throttle. Stock control boards failure is pretty common.
@@CustomKidzCars great idea...thank you so much....Do you have a link of something I could use on Amazon.fr (belgium here) so that I can can.still use the car functions (start. Rear 1st 2nd gear... there is also the 3 speeds cabinet behind a little trap on the rear). No need to connect the break safety :-). Ideally
Hi. I’m just changing over an old battery and the negative port with the little silver box doesn’t have the little silver connector for the two silver tabs. Would you mind telling me what it’s called so I can source one to replace it!
Thermal breaker or fuse. U can just replace it with a normal fuse or resettable breaker.
Thanks so much for the reply. I have the thermal breaker, I just don’t have the little metal piece you slip the two tabs into! I don’t know what happened to it!
@@deanhammondelitefitness4512 Did you ever find the metal piece for two male ends to slip into? I did the same thing and forgot to pull it off old battery and searching online i can't find that double female adapter anywhere.
Do you have an email to be able to ask you Questions? I have a “Best Choice” car and my battery no longer working. Would love to to a full upgrade but the child is too young. What would be the best battery/charger replacement option? any advice would be very much appreciated. thank you!
Pretty common if the battery gets over charged as the stock charger will not cut current when the pack is at capacity. We did a how to video on upgrading to a smart charger. You will need to remove the zener diode on the charge port.
I’ll look for the video...thank you!
I really. NEed help getting my sons little camo jeep going it doesnt have the plug just the 2 connectors that slide on the battery
Pretty vauge question but it sounds like u could just cut off the plug and use a fuse and spade connectors.
The booklet says let the battery charge for 18-24 hours. Seems a bit long but idk because my son is only getting about half an hour for an overnight charge. Going to try a 24 hour charge. Just got him the John deer gator which is weighted for 130lbs and hes 59 lbs. Says he should get 1-2 hours of battery life.
Would recommend upgrading charger to a Schumacher charge n ride to promote ideal battery charge and service life. 13.2 resting volts is full battery. Any longer charge is just causing damage to cells.
@@CustomKidzCars thanks. Just ordered the smart charger and the two might maxes. Will see how much better they are compared to perego name brand.
I bought a used peg perego 4 wheeler and it charges but lasts a minute and dies - what is the best battery to replace it with ?
Been having issues with ours. When putting leads on the Gator end I'm only getting 6.6V, no amperage. When testing the battery while charging I do get 13.3V, but no amperage. I'm assuming a dead battery.
Yep, she is dead. Using stock charger left plugged in will over charge the battery. Easy to replace with a universal 12ah sla. We use mighty max on Amazon $24
@@CustomKidzCars The battery has been sitting for over a year (possibly two). Lost the original charger for it and finally bought a new one. Had a feeling it was dead since I was getting no amps, but glad I found this video. I went ahead and ordered the 9AH battery since the 12AH wouldn't fit in the Gator we have. Again, thanks for the helpful video.
@@CustomKidzCars I just got the MightMax 9ah and the Schumacher charger, but after I went to charge it the first time. The charging light isn't solid (it's blank). I'm assuming the battery is pretty much dead since it will barely move the Peg Perego Gator.
I would use a volt meter to determine voltage. If it's brand new it has a warranty
My connector on the battery side came off and I accidentally put it back on backwards and charged it that way. Now the battery seems to have no power in the car (shows about 8v on meter) and charger light stays on orange (charging) and never changes to green (charged). Did I screw up the battery and/or charger?
Most likely both. Time to upgrade to a schumacher charger and I also recommend mighty max batteries
@@CustomKidzCars I replaced battery and charger with your recommended ones (my old battery was shot according to the cr6 charger). When I hooked up the new mighty max, I'm getting no response now from car. Any tips on testing wiring, motors etc?
Need more info on model and from your previous comment about hooking up the battery backwards u may have a blown fuse somewhere. Does it have a circuit board? May have fried it.
@@CustomKidzCars I have a peg perego gator xuv.
If u used the stock battery case it's a good chance that the connector pulled off the battery when u swapped it. Check for voltage at the battery plug connector. Full battery is 13.2 volts
