My fall tradition - I watch this video as I cut my pumpkins and squash on a Sunday and when her smoke alarm goes off, my husband runs in from his man-cave garage where he's watching football and yells "Why is the smoke alarm on?"! Every year!!!
Hi Elizabeth, keeping it real lol my smoke alarm is constantly going off it’s very sensitive glad you enjoyed the video hope your pumpkin seeds turned out yummy. Thanks for watching!
My goodness, how did Camera guy get anything done the last 10 years, he's a lucky man! Great video, I have been grinding mine into powder just dried raw not roasted to get even more nutrients from them, I sprinkle on oatmeal or in smoothies. Superfood. Time sure flies, thanks for all the education you two!
thank you so much for this video! I made the chili ones and just out them in the oven. And FINALLY I found a way to isolate the seeds from all the pumpkin fiber thanks to you!
another way to get the goop off is to put the seeds in a bowl of water and use your hand to wash then in the water and the goop falls to the bottom while the seeds float and you can scoop them off the top of the water,
I’m glad someone mentioned the popping seeds. My first attempt at cooking popcorn resulted in the smoke alarm going off and it wouldn’t stop. It was driving me crazy. Nothing would stop it, and I had to get someone in to replace the alarm. That made me very wary of trying this. I think you might need to be careful of having it a bit too hot or cooking it a bit too long
Thanks and welcome to the channel, Dawn! I enjoy the simple things out in the garden, which I'm sure you understand! GREAT to have you following along! Tell me about your garden, zone, etc. Kim
Hi Calikim, I live in the UK and came across you channel by chance, find the American way of pronouncing words strange but will get use to them after a while. Your enthusiasm is infectious and you grow a lot of veg that we also grow over here but at a different time of the year. Our season is finished and its starting to get cold. Have a good xmas and growing season.
Andrew Lee glad you found me - and are enjoying the videos - I love to hear the UK accent - in fact I even changed Siri on my iPhone to and english accent voice! Would love to hear how you grow there - thx for stopping by, Andrew!

+Marnice Wade Hello Marnince - thanks so much for the feedback! Just you wait till you try them! Pumpkin season is coming soon too! Let me know how you like them after you make them. Appreciate you stopping by!
TheASTrader glad you enjoyed it, we had fun making those seeds and of course, eating them! Let me know how your seeds turn out and which flavor you like the best - thx for watching!
I buy organic pumpkin seeds and put them in a skillet and roast them. Some of them do pop. I put a few drops of oil (olive oil or coconut oil) and then a little pink salt and any flavor I feel like. Garlic powder is really good.
am laughing because that happened to me when I was rosting mines. I was like Oh noo its not popcorn 😂😂 I got scare. But now I saw you like it was me that day, plus your smoke alarm is funny . I like all of your videos and by the way Pumpkin seeds looks yummy.
How nice . I used to follow you in gardening , today I was searching a way to prepare pumpkin seed and was so glad to have you here also . Thank you so much . Just have one query ( doesn't the seed lose some ingredients by being cooked ?
+Jessica Morton Hello Jessica - so glad to hear that you and your boys like pumpkin seeds - such a delish, healthy snack for the kids! You can also do this with butternut squash seeds! If you make my butternut chili recipe, you should have a nice batch to roast. Thanks for watching!
+Cat Lover Cool - Glad you were able to try it and like it! They are super healthy for you - and it's fun to use every part of the pumpkin! Thanks for stopping by!

I was looking for fun and healthy information and persons that can inspire me and I came across your videos. I am hooked! Thank you for sharing your knowledege and practical insights on both food and gardening as well as keeping yourself fit and healthy...can I ask what your age is? Thanks!
Sonia Reedy Hello Sonia, so glad that you found me, and I am always glad to hear that my videos are an inspiration. That really does motivate me to keep making them, in fact this is why I do it, to encourage others to be healthy and fit. And as far as my age... Lets just say I am older than most people think I am, ha, ha. But clean eating and exercise really do go along way to looking and feeling young! Thx for watching, looking forward to interacting with you more!
Tell your son the lego face is awesome! Pumpkin seeds are delicious. thanks for the recipes and the tips. I wonder if there is a easy way of peeling them, it someone wants to.
suburban homestead He will be so glad to hear that you liked it! That is a good question about peeling the seeds. Isn't that how they get pepitas? Sounds too labor intensive for me!
I just made pumping classic soup and was looking what to do with the seeds. Thank you for your video and fantastic ideas how to roast pumping seeds . You are Absolutely Fabulous.
I'm making pumpkin seeds right now. 3 minutes left on the oven. Thank you for sharing this video. I made a teriyaki flavor not sure how it's going to turn out
What purpose does boiling them do other than helping to remove the "goop" does it make the shells better? Last time I made roasted pumpkin seeds.....the texture of the shell was like eating a whole sunflower seed......it was gross. Does boiling first change this?
Hi Kim I always enjoy your stuff did you know you can use pumpkin seeds to deworm your pets because of the amino acids they have apparently you use about 2 tbsp for a cat or smaller medium dog and just let him eat what they want to take and they may also love them as a treat
Why not skim the stuff off the top of boiling water before draining a 2nd time? My daughter and granddaughter separated 2 pumpkins worth faster with our hands , quick rinse, no goo by the time it hit towel.
"Super easy and super yummy..." Love your videos, of course for the gardening tips but also, having lived now in France for 30 years, I've rather forgotten how we all spoke being raised in the states(California.) After restoring this old farm I'm finally beginning to get serious regarding the vegetable garden and it's incredibly clay soil, bla, bla, bla...whatever. Anyway you have a fan in France...rr

Sooo i went to try to do the chili lime one found out im outta cumin, so I just used harissa....we will see how those come out. They are roasting now 😂
+Patrick Wright Yep, that's the idea. I'd never even heard of eating them with the shells/husks still on (after roasting) till recently when I found out that lots of people actually do that (and many cultures have for a long time) and tried it myself. I used acorn squash seeds though which are a little smaller than pumpkin seeds, but same principle. Was really happy to find out there was another way to eat them without just buying them shelled, or having to learn to dehull them in my mouth or to squeeze each husk to get at the seed! Roasted winter squash seeds are great for snacks (and also salad toppings and more), just like roasted beans/chickpeas (which use the same kinds of seasonings, roasted in the same general ways). Lots of factors for baking time, length, boiling or not, etc, though used by those who roast any of them.
You really need to dry the seeds to minimize popping. To further minimize popping, you might want to cook at a lower temperature, say 300 degrees for about 40-45 minutes. To start, I microwave the squash in 400 KW oven for 10 minutes, then I flip it over and cook for another 10 minutes. Let cool. Cut in half the squash. Use a fork to scoop out the seeds on cutting board or sheet. Separate the seeds from the membrane using a knife and fork. Next, using a strainer, rinse the seeds under cold water until the seeds no longer feel slimy. Let seeds dry on saucer for about week. Store in container. Repeat the process. When the container is full, then I would roast the seeds per a recipe.
+PawelecPOLAND I actually don't remember what kind of wine I had in the background on this video, but I do love a good glass of red wine! Thx for stopping by!
I am a bit late but you can really eat it with the shell mam, is it going to digest, please let me know cause I wanna give it a try PS. You are so beautiful.......

I zested the lime half and added to the chili seeds in addition to lime juice. Soooo extra-zesty good!
Delightful...popping pumpkin seeds gave me a good laugh. Thx.
another way to get the goop off is to put the seeds in a bowl of water and use your hand to wash then in the water and the goop falls to the bottom while the seeds float and you can scoop them off the top of the water,

You are absolutely mesmerizing! I have to believe your husband knows it but he is one very lucky man.

I even wonder how they peel them industrially without crumbling the seed inside. I guess its a mystery.
What did you put in the caramel sauce butter, brown and white sugar and what else?
Silly Question- Are you eating shells and all or cracking shell and eating inside.
Eat the whole thing.
Pumpkin seeds don’t need to be split
haha I laughed so hard at the popping but great video. simple and fun recipies! Thankyou
I just made pumping classic soup and was looking what to do with the seeds. Thank you for your video and fantastic ideas how to roast pumping seeds . You are Absolutely Fabulous.
Yummy
Thanks for recipe, Kim! We're going to give this a try.
OneYardRevolution Let me know which flavor you like the best, Patrick!
GOOD
I just squished handfuls of pulp and most seeds just popped out But I’ll have to try this next time
Next time, yes!!!! CK
I'm making pumpkin seeds right now. 3 minutes left on the oven. Thank you for sharing this video. I made a teriyaki flavor not sure how it's going to turn out
Loveing it already
I tried them they are good seeds
try seeds from a large hubbard squash, I think you will really like them
+Doug B never tried this kind of squash, will have to look this one up! Thanks for recommendation, Doug!
+CaliKim29 Garden & Home DIY Hi Kim, Search on Blue Hubbard, I can send you some seeds to plant.
What purpose does boiling them do other than helping to remove the "goop" does it make the shells better?

Best recipe on You Tube Thank You. !!!
Glad you enjoyed it! You can also do this with squash seeds. Thanks for watching, Lillian!
Lillian Morgan No, not good. Boiling will kill nutrients!
Fucking boyfriend
CaliKim29 ll
Lillian Morgan neem oil
yummy thanks alot
I'm confused. Have you eaten them with the shells/fibre on?
Do you eat the shells too
Yes, cooking them makes them nice and crispy, very easy to eat. Enjoy!
How do you store the seeds?
are you guys eating the shells also?
i've never heard of anyone not eating the whole seed with the shell.
I eat them both ways... just depends... sometimes I suck of the seeds and they get so soggy that I’ll just eat the seeds.
@@harpoon_bakery162 I've never seen anyone eat the shells! Just like sunflower seeds we only eat the inside.
Gotta try the dark chocolate. They all sound wonderful but my guy likes chocolate. This could start a thing...lol
do a seed giveaway with the biggest one! I'd love to try to grow with a giant seed.
djchinatown we'll see...it was an adventure to be sure!
Brilliant I subscribed
Thanks this helps so much 😅
So healthy
do you eat the hull. the shell?
Hi Kim I always enjoy your stuff did you know you can use pumpkin seeds to deworm your pets because of the amino acids they have apparently you use about 2 tbsp for a cat or smaller medium dog and just let him eat what they want to take and they may also love them as a treat
Do you give it to them roasted or raw?
I didn’t see u use the lime. How much lime juice did u use?
Sorry, hadn’t gotten to the end of the video to see how u used the lime.
That’s absolutely yummy 😋
Why not skim the stuff off the top of boiling water before draining a 2nd time? My daughter and granddaughter separated 2 pumpkins worth faster with our hands , quick rinse, no goo by the time it hit towel.
You should have put the plain seeds in the middle. That way if anything crosses between it wouldn’t be so surprising.
Can you use regular salt, or does it have to be like sea salt?
I didn't get it. Are you eating pumpkin seeds with sells???
I'm not too sure what you mean by 'sells'? CK
@@CaliKim29 sorry, I meant with shells
those look Yummy!

you guys dont peel the skin off?
They turned out so hard and woody I had to throw them away...yuck...any tips?
I don't have oven can I toast them in frying pan?

I'd never even heard of eating them with the shells/husks still on (after roasting) till recently when I found out that lots of people actually do that (and many cultures have for a long time) and tried it myself.
